Yes, the tunnel was getting smaller, but hopefully that wouldn't cause her any proble- oh, too late. She screeched with surprise as she tripped on something, sending her clattering to the ground. "Ow, damnit!" She snarled, pushing away Algol's investigative snout from the floor. The sarane seemed very interested in her yelp of pain, but whether it was because he was a predator and associated it with food, or because he was concerned about her, she didn't know. Regardless, he was the most pertinent thing keeping her from getting up right now, in his excitement. "Dude, come ON." She she, finally shoving the hatchling off. He continued to run around her however, excited about her sudden movements and strange noises. She supposed it was all the same in the end to him, even if it wasn't very fun for her. "Yes, I bet this is a great laugh to you, isn't it."

She was able to sit up after that, and rub her foot. A quick removal of boot and sock later revealed she wasn't all that hurt, just surprised. There was no injury to be seen. Fiera supposed that was a good thing- she didn't need to be taken out of commission this month, especially considering a sprain like that might take a good long while to heal. She quickly replaced her sock and boot before Algol could run off with them. He was still quite excited, after all. Then, she picked herself up, grabbed her bag from where she dropped it, and decided to figure out what the heck tripped her to start with. A cursory look around revealed the culprit- while most of the substrate under foot was chunks of gravel, she had managed to trip on the one large chunk of rock in the tunnel. Just her luck.

It was the size of a softball, and was just about the smuggest looking clod of minerals she had ever seen. "Oh, you think you're better than me, huh?" She hissed, shoving a hand in her bag. "Well, maybe you won't be so pleased with yourself once I'm done with you." She took out her trusty mallet. She hadn't used the tool since she picked up the rest of her mining equipment, as it wasn't actually all that useful in digging out new tunnels. It was, however, very good at smashing stray rocks that she found in her path and, you know, tripped over. If anyone else was in the tunnel, they'd be able to see the malice in the humanish's eyes as she approached the rock, mallet in hand. She raised it over her head ominously, and left it there for a moment for dramatic effect. Then, she swung down.

The cracking noise resounded through the tunnel, making Algol jump again, just the tiniest amount. "There." She said once the act was done, satisfied and suddenly drained of all malice. "A public menace removed from this world. Thank you, thank you. Oh no, I don't need all those awards, mayor. Just the shiniest ones will do. Yes, of course I'm sure. I live an awfully humble life after all." If Algol knew how to roll his eyes, he probably would. However, just as Fiera was about to strut away, full of herself, she cast a glance at the stone on the ground, and gasped. It turns out that ordinary, cruel, nasty rock, was actually a geode. "Furthermore, Ms.Mayor..." She said, crouching down. "I even helped the villain achieve his true potential! Aren't I amazing!" She chuckled at her own narrative, and picked up the halves of the geode, examining them closely.

While the exterior was plain brown rock, the interior was gorgeous. It was bright purple, with a multitude of crystals giving it a starry, glittery appearance. She had been wanting to find one of these since she first walked into these mines! Well, consider that a goal achieved! She happily put the geode in the minecraft, nestling it alongside her other treasures. It was a good sign- and now she was off to further adventures! She kept on trucking through the mines, but this time she was a lot more careful to watch her step. She kept one hand on the ceiling so she didn't hit her head on it, and with the other she swept the flashlight across the ground, looking for any more large chunks like that that she could trip over. When she found one, she was careful to smash it open with her mallet, just in case.

Fiera was distracted from her rock hunt when her flashlight suddenly glinted off of something bright further down in the tunnel. She swept it over again- to find another one of those crystal beasts! The last one was a green gem dragon. This one didn't have any wings however, but it still had legs unlike the wyrms, so she supposed that would make this a gem...drake? It was gorgeous in coloration, with swirling pastel colors all through its form. It would be a dream to have it. It seemed unwilling to move however, as if guarding something. She bit her lip and dug around in her pocket. Did she even... have anything? Then, her hands closed upon something hard, and she took it out. Ah, yes! The rose quartz she found earlier! Thank goodness she stashed at least one of her findings in her pocket. She crouched down, holding it out.

It sat there as still as it could be until the stone was produced. It tilted it's head and stared, then leaned forward a little to sniff at it. While it was down the tunnel, it couldn't tell just what it was, but it did smell good. Still, it was unwilling to move at the moment, guarding it's stones.

Fiera watched as it slowly shifted, moving its head as if sniffing the air. She couldn't hear it from here, but that's certainly what it looked like it was doing. Sure enough, it leaned forward a bit, interested. Fiera shifted her cart closer, opening it quietly so as to not scare the drake, and grabbed another couple of gems. She didn't want to just be throwing away her findings, but hopefully she'd get them back again once the creature was sure she wasn't going to hurt it. Then, in one smooth movement, she tossed the piece of quartz forward, and waited for it to land. It hit the ground about five feet from the drake, clattering into the gravel. Hopefully that'd work to not scare it, and instead invite it a little closer to her. Algol crept forward to investigate, but she quickly shooed him away. Didn't need him scaring the creature after all.

Scurrying back for a moment after the gem clattered onto the ground, it paused and then crept forward again to sniff at it. It tilted it's head and then nudged the stone with it's beak before picking it up and moving it around a little bit. Then it sat there for a bit before taking a step forward and nudging the stone closer to the woman again.

It was...giving the gem BACK? That was a new one. She had tamed a couple of creatures down here, but they had never tried to give things back before. "Ah...no, you can keep it." She tried to reassure, speaking softly and gently, before remembering that this creature definitely didn't know common. Instead, she shuffled around her gems again, judging what she had, and selected one. She tossed it underhand to the drake, letting it land a bit closer to her this time, as if to say to the drake "It's ok, here, you can have some more, even." She made sure to stay crouched the whole time too- she wasn't sure if it worked to make her look non-threatening, but she hoped it at least made her look smaller. The smaller she was, the more approachable she was, and the more likely this creature would want to come with her.

Stepping forward again to get this stone, it then tilted it's head again and nudged this one toward the woman again before it followed it a little toward her. It was curious, but nothing was going to happen to it, it had an escape plan just in case, but it didn't feel it was going to need it. Turning, it trotted back to it's stones and cautiously brought them forward, dropping them maybe a foot away from the woman and staring intently at her.

It...kept trying to give the gems back? Frankly, Fiera had no clue what to do about this. It clearly didn't want her gems she thought, as she watched it bring over some of its own. It looked at her intently, as if expecting her to make a decision. It didn't seem worried about her or her sarane at all (who was now curled up behind the gem cart, watching the drake intently, his tail flicking with irritation.), and instead seemed curious if not outright friendly. Fiera glanced around, wondering what she should do. Well... if it didn't seem scared, maybe she could try...
Fiera reached out hesitantly, intending to touch the drake. Her fingers curled, hoping to give it some gentle scratches around the side of its head. Most animals liked getting petted, right? She had never seen a wild animal quite as friendly as this one, but hopefully it would react the same as most domesticated pets.

The drake jerked back for a moment from the touch, but then slowly, ever so slowly, pushed forward into the hand and rubbed against it, the noise of rocks tumbling together coming from it's throat. It liked the woman, though it hadn't noticed much from the Sarane as of yet, but that was fine. It sat there and rumbled again before moving to twine between her legs a little, deciding with finality it's own destiny.
[Congratulations, you've tamed the drake!]
