The next trick Fiera wanted to teach Desiree would also likely prove to be... well, a little tricky, like "no" was. Desiree was young and had a lot of energy, as her antics so far had proven. Getting her to stay in one spot was sure to be difficult. Fiera was sure she'd figure it out, but it would take some doing. At least she brought a whole carton of blueberries with her- her haraichu was eating through them like wildfire through a summer forest. This trick would probably take a lot of them too, seeing as it's something that Desiree wasn't likely to want to do on her own. Still, at least it didn't need any special props or difficult set up. All you needed to teach it was a pair of legs and the ability to walk a couple feet- along with the determination to get it done.

The humanish placed the carton of berries, along with all of the little items she had pulled out of her pockets by this point, back into her bag. As she did that, Fiera glanced over at the haraichu- she hadn't noticed Fiera getting ready to move yet, perfect. Instead, Desiree was entranced by some manner of tiny bug that was flitting around her head. It was probably just a gnat, but the little fairy stared at it in wide eyed fascination, falling back into a sitting position to watch it buzz around. While she was distracted, Fiera picked herself up and dusted herself off, trying to look as nonchalant as possible. Despite her efforts however, Desiree definitely noticed and went to get up too. For all her attempts at feigned independence, it would appear that Desiree hardly wanted to be left behind. "No no, stay." Fiera tried to reassure, giving her a big smile.

Desiree watched as Fiera walked away, clearly nervous. Once the humanish got about fifteen feet away, she heard the haraichu start whimpering. "No!" The little creature cried, and Fiera almost immediately rushed back. Was that a word? Had that been an actual word? She was stunned- and something twisted up inside her at the thought that Desiree's first word was in protest of someone leaving her. She furrowed her brow- she wouldn't let that happen again. Once she approached however, she was sure to give Desiree a big smile, to make sure it didn't look like Fiera was upset with her. "Good girl!" Fiera praised, and Desiree backed up, nervous and confused. "Good stay!" Fiera shuffled with her bag, and brought out an entire blueberry, a massive treat considering she usually only gave Desiree pieces of one. She knelt down and offered it to the haraichu, who crept back toward her carefully.

Desiree slowly walked forward, and took the whole blueberry in her hands. She looked back up at Fiera, still confused, but not as upset as before. "You did a good job!" Fiera reiterated, and sat back on her haunches as Desiree tentatively ate the blueberry. With any luck, Fiera would be able to teach her this trick, and hopefully address that separation anxiety she was having... "Ok, ready?" Fiera said as Desiree finished her berry, wiping the juice from her chin. "Stay!" Desiree, much to Fiera's chagrin, recognized the word by now and whimpered, walking after the humanish. Ah, that wasn't going to work. "No, no, it's ok!" Fiera reiterated, approaching Desiree and holding her hands up reassuringly. "I'll come back, I promise! Be good, ok? It's ok! Stay!" She reassured. She had no clue how much of this Desiree understood, but at least the haraichu wasn't walking toward her anymore.

“Stay.” She said firmly but kindly, and started walking away again. Desiree shuffled her feet and crossed her arms nervously, but to her credit, she didn’t move. “That’s good, Desiree. Stay.” Fiera said to reassure her as she got further away. Finally, after about twenty feet, she had gone so far that she couldn’t even see Desiree over the tall grass in the park. Not wanting to scare Desiree, she started walking back. Soon, she saw the haraichu again, peering anxiously over the grasses. Upon seeing Fiera, she wasn’t overjoyed (Fiera supposed she didn’t quite like the humanish enough for that yet.), but the furrow of worry in her brow faded away. Fiera put her hands up in a “tada!” gesture, and Desiree only rolled her eyes. Fiera snorted, and took another blueberry out of her pocket, tossing it to the fairy. Desiree had learned to stay today, yes- but she had also learned Fiera wouldn’t abandon her that easily, too.

Another contest was coming up, and Fiera would rather be damned than go in unprepared. Unfortunately, the due date for registration was coming up fast, and none of her pets were quite right for it. The contest was based on agility, and none of her pets really knew how to do any fancy footwork. So she had to do her best to speed through this training and try. The pet she had selected was...unusual to say the least. Originally, she just had Aces, a plush puppy creature. A while back however, another one had appeared with Aces, and she had dubbed the kitty “Jack”. She had done her research- apparently the very affectionate couple was a singular entity, with two disconnected “heads”. Despite appearances, they weren’t capable of being separated. That would make training difficult to say the least- she’d have to train two bodies at once!

She supposed it was time to get started. The two plushies were happily playing together, rolling over the grassy ground. Being stuffed animals, Fiera found that traditional treats required a lot of clean up at best, and were completely inedible to them at worst. Thankfully, they regarded cuddles and praise as highly as any piece of food. So she was fine on the treats front, but getting their attention was a horse of a different color. “Jack! Aces!” She called. No response. She sighed, having expected that, and walked over to them. She reached down and started petting the puppy, but only that side of them. “Aces!” She cooed softly as she scratched behind its ears, repeating the name. Jack attempted to wriggle in, but Fiera gave the cat no mind for now. One name at a time. “Good Aces! What a good critter!” She laughed, and Aces rolled over, loving it.

With that box checked, she shifted her attention to Jack. It was important that they learned their names separately, so she could teach them to do tricks separately or in tandem. She stroked Jack firmly, from front to back like any other cat. “Hi Jack!” She said. “Aren’t you good, Jack?” She could feel the rumblings of Jack purring through its body, and wondered how it was doing that if it’s body was filled with wool stuffing. How strange. Aces attempted to get Fiera’s attention as well, putting their front paws on her leg, but she kept her focus on Jack, repeating their name while petting them. Jack was more than happy to oblige her of course, making a loud rumbling sound by this point. Eventually, Aces went and sat by itself a foot away, but still wagging its tail happily while Fiera worked on their other half.

Eventually, she had had enough of petting Jack, and went back to Aces, alternating between the two of them. She went back and forth like that for a while, repeating their names and showering them with praise for the response. When she decided she was done, Fiera sat back on her haunches and stood up. The love plush’s two forms took her mundane movement as another reason to get excited, swarming around her legs and squeaking happily. Fiera snorted- she couldn’t fault them for their enthusiasm. It certainly made training a lot easier for her. Still, repeating their names at them wouldn’t be enough- they had to know to respond to them. She wiggles her fingers to get their attention, and they immediately rushed over to sit at her feet, clamoring for attention. She began to babble, saying any words she could think of off the top of her head.

She watched the love plush carefully as she spoke- they were eager, but they weren’t displaying any one behavior other than general excitement and overwhelming affection, which was their default. Then, she slipped in a name; “Aces!” She said, in the same tone. She sighed with satisfaction as Aces’s ears perked up and they closed their mouth, tongue still out. “Good job, Aces!” She said, and happily gave them some scritches, sending the pup back into its excited haze. That only left Jack. Fiera meandered her way through another list of words, before slipping Jack’s name is. The kitty let out a quick “prrp?” of recognition instead of their constant meowing. Fiera was equally quick on the draw, rewarding them with kisses before standing back up. The most basic of the basics looked like it was finished- and Fiera was grateful to have such a good pair of fast learners.

Fiera was very happy about Jack and Aces' willingness to learn. They had picked up their name very quickly, and seemed ready to move on. Normally she would spend quite a bit of time teaching them the basics, but unfortunately for her, she was on a time crunch. The contest was coming soon, and she had to jam pack as much knowledge into these guys' heads as possible in that time. That being said, it seemed that the most pertinent thing to teach them then, was some manners. It wouldn't do to have them at the contest hall and causing absolute chaos. After all, these two were well capable of chaos, being two (or perhaps spiritually one) bundles of unflagging energy and affection. Sweet as they may be, their affection wouldn't be desired by everyone, and she didn't need a ban from the contest hall. So, the next trick to teach them was definitely "no".

She watched for a moment as the pair ran around, tumbling over each other in the grass and snuggling. The sight was adorable, she had to admit- but that cuteness wasn't going anywhere any time soon, and they had work to do. She clapped, but even that sharp sound failed to get their attention. She sighed, a short snort through her nose. "Aces, Jack!" She called sweetly, going for plan B. They both looked up from their playing momentarily before rushing over and clamoring around her feet. Well, they weren't exactly calm and ready to learn, but she'd take it. The big question was how to teach this to them... Normally she'd offer a pet a treat, but deny it to them until they held off. Then, she'd give it to them as a reward for their patience. But Aces and Jack didn't eat, which made things more difficult for her.

So far, Fiera had been using physical affection and praise as 'treats' for the pair. With a bit of hesitation, she decided to try using it as motivation for this as well. Fiera squatted down, bringing her closer to Aces and Jacks' level. She held one hand up, and made a scritching motion. The movement immediately sent them into a frenzy of excitement, climbing over each other for the opportunity to shove their little faces into the waiting palm. "Aces, Jack." She said, trying to get their attention, but to no avail. "Jack. Aces." Again, no response. She sighed. "NO." She said firmly, and closed her fist while bringing it close to her neck, where they couldn't get at it. They tried for a moment to leap at it, one after the other, but to no avail. She held her breath, hoping they would calm down eventually so she could complete the 'trick'.

Eventually, their jumping slowed, and then stopped. After a while, they started playing with each other again, gently swatting at each others heads in a playful fashion. Fiera let out her breath. Finally. "Good job, guys!" She said, opened her hand, and reached down to pet them. The pair seemed surprised at first, swarming away from their owner's touch, but soon surged back toward it with a vengeance, absorbing the praise and pettings. After a good half minute of the attention, Fiera withdrew her hand away, lifting it up again. The love plushes followed it, but Fiera could play keep away very well. It was a good start, but they needed more practice to get it down. "Jack, Aces, no." She reiterated, closing her hand. They still sat under her arm, looking up at her hand longingly, but didn't jump up this time. More relief flooded her- their behavior was improving, slowly but surely.

After giving it a few more seconds, Fiera reached down again. "Good job Aces, good job Jack!" She said, pleased, and the two were more than happy to accept her scritches and strokes. She let them take it in for a moment before cutting off contact, as guilty as it made her with their big, cute eyes. One more try, she thought. They had been doing so well so far, surely they'd get it down pat next time. She held her hand up- loosely this time, not even indicating that she wasn't strictly denying contact. The two looked up at her expectantly, and she opened her mouth. "Aces, Jack, no." She commanded... and they waited. They certainly seemed antsy, shuffling their feet, glancing at each other, and making little noises, but they didn't jump on her or try to move her hand. She smiled, and as the greatest reward of all, started petting them with both hands.
