Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

So they'd won all but one of their fights so far, and she figured there was going to be the chance they would win this one. But nothing was absolute and things could happen against them again at the same time. That was fine, they would deal with it at least, and she smiled a little when they separated, Kro going to the floor of the Pit and Jack up into the owner's stand. Stretching out her shoulders a little, she wondered what was going to happen to things if they didn't win, but that was fine. If they lost, then they lost, and all was going to be well with things. Jack pushed her hair back and waited, as Kro did in the Pit, and they wondered if it was that other Thundergug they were going to meet this time. He was the only one they hadn't fought at least, so there was no way it was anything else.

"Boy, there's a big brute," Aster muttered under his breath. They had gotten the letter signalling the last tournament round not long ago. It had gone on long enough, he supposed; Grunty was certainly ready for a rest, if nothing else. It had been an interesting enough go, but all the trips to the city made Aster tired too, after a while.
The sight of their final opponent though... Aster didn't know if he ought to laugh or not. Another Thundergug, but one that was clearly bigger than Grunty. One of those expensive potions from the Traveler's Emporium, he suspected.
He sighed. This wasn't going to be pretty, was it? "Do your best out there, big guy," Aster said to Grunty. He didn't have high hopes, but who knows, maybe they would get lucky. If he had learned anything from this tournament, it was that nothing was ever completely certain in the pit.

-Kro can use all of the moves/abilities he knows.
-Grunty cannot use Dig since there is only a small layer of sand in the pit.

Jack smiled, she was right, the other monochromatic Thundergug. It worked out though, she figured with a grin, and she couldn't wait to see how this fight went down. "Once again from the top there, Kro," Jack told him through the Ribbon, "Let's do a roar." Kro bobbed his head a little and eyed the other Thundergug for a moment with beady eyes and then opened his mouth and roared as loud as he could, shaking the arena a little as he did so. It was interesting to see him roar, she knew, not a lot of people had thought of Thundergug's roaring. Of course his was more of a trumpeting than a true roar, but that was fine, it worked pretty much the same at this point. She just wanted this to be over already, though it would take a little bit to wear the opponent down a little bit just like the last one.

The opponent was a Thundergug, to be sure, but this one was much faster off the mark than Aster had expected. What, did the enlargement potion make creatures quicker too? He was familiar with what could be done to improve reaction time at the gym, but this...
It wasn't the Gugs' namesake thunder, but a roar instead. Still, there was no avoiding the wave of noise that washed over the arena, setting Grunty to startling all over again. Aster could do nothing but watch and wait this out, trying to plan their next move. How had it gone with the last Gug they'd fought, again? The noise was starting to get to him too, and it was suddenly hard to think.
Just a little longer until the effects wore off. At least he knew that much. But then their opponent was still moving, and Aster didn't think that boded well for them.

Jack smiled a little when they looked a little shocked when Kro went first, a little quicker than the other Gug. Don't let his size fool you... she figured with a grin. "Okay Kro, breath!" she ordered over their Ribbon, and the Thundergug took in a deep breath before opening his mouth again and spouting snow, ice, and freezing air at the other Thundergug. If the fights were accurate, then this one was fire oriented, so she hoped he would be weak to cold, but she doubted that would be the case. If that were the case, then Kro would be weak to fire and neither of them would get anywhere at that point. She chuckled to herself a little as the Thundergug concentrated down in the Pit, and she wondered what was going to happen if the other team just gave up. That wouldn't be any fun, but it had certainly happened before!

Aster saw the opponent 'Gug take in a deep breath, which almost certainly couldn't have meant anything good. But it was too late, and anyway, Grunty's evasive abilities... Well, that would be something to work on when all this was over, he supposed.
There was no choice but to forge on. They might still be able to turn it around somehow, especially if they could turn the same trick back on their opponents.
"Grunty, thunder," Aster said. It was possible that Grunty might not have time to obey the command, but if he managed to pull it off, this would at least buy them some time. The real question was what they would do after that.
In the meantime, Grunty had managed to get his bearings back, and was rising on his hind legs, readying himself to crash down with the full force of his weight. Just a little more now...

Calculations
-Kro uses Breath of Winter! A d10 is rolled; 9 is rolled! Breath of Winter will do the most damage possible. Breath of Winter does a flat nonresistable 10 damage. Grunty's 20 Stamina - 10 = 10 Grunty has 10 stamina remaining
-Grunty uses Thunder! Kro will skip his next turn, in addition to this his danger sense will not activate (is canceled).

Jack figured there had to be something she could train to Kro to cancel out things like roaring and the thunderous noise the other Thundergug made. He'd been taught to accept noises, but that apparently didn't count for anything. Ah well, it was part of almost every battle it seemed, and she smiled a little at the same time. Jack rested her cheek in one of her hands as she leaned on the railing in front of her, watching Kro stagger for a moment, shaking his head in deference to the thundering sound ahead of him, and then he snorted a little. He was ready to keep going, but he knew there wasn't anything he could do while his ears were ringing, he would miss his attack or something, that wouldn't be right. Wait for the woman to give him a command and everything would be fine. Jack smiled at him, "Keep on keeping on, Kro." The woman muttered that to herself a little as she watched the fight.

Aster watched as Grunty's front feet crashed down onto the ground, sending up a deafening clap of noise. He watched, too, as the opponent was briefly disoriented by the sound. At least they had managed this much without a problem, though that just begged the question of what to do next.
Grunty had already taken a hit, and from the way he was moving, it wasn't just a little chill either. Aster didn't like their odds, if he was being honest. It was a good thing this was just a Pit-sanctioned match.
But he wasn't about to let them go down without at least trying to get one good hit in either. And at least with a foe this big, even Grunty shouldn't struggle to land a blow.
"Pounce and breathe fire on him," Aster said. "We did it once before, remember?"
{That time I missed,} Grunty said, but nevertheless, he was already in motion, taking a running start at the other Thundetgug...

-Kro skips his turn due to the previous thunder
-Grunty uses Pounce & Breathe Fire A d10 is rolled; 8 is rolled. 5+8 = 13 vs Kro's dex of 7 The attack will do as much damage as possible Pounce deals as much damage as the creature's remaining stamina 10 Damage Kro is dealt 10 damage - 8 resistance - 1 Stone Skin = 1 Damage In addition, Breathe fire deals a flat nonresitable 10 damage 21 stamina - 11 Damage = 10 Kro has 10 stamina remaining.

Well that was interesting, a pouncing Thundergug? Jack laughed a little and clapped her hands, she loved seeing something new! Maybe she could teach that to Kro later... Smirking a bit, she gave him the command once again, "Breath, Kro!" Saying this over the Ribbon hopefully gave others a bit of a surprise at this point, and while she was sure a good crunch or rend would take the other Gug down at this point, she didn't want to risk it too terribly much right now. Of course he could always miss, things like that did tend to happen, but she hoped it wouldn't happen now. Smiling a little, she watched as her own monochrome Thundergug took in a deep breath and then exhaled vigorously all the ice, snow, and cold air he possibly could at the other Thundergug, hoping to hit him so this wouldn't be delayed much longer. It was always possible it would, however.

Grunty gave his best attempt at executing what Aster asked of him. And they succeeded, insofar as the fact that they had managed to land a blow. The cold had gotten to Grunty, but his fire was nothing to scoff at either, and it didn't look as though this particular Thundergug was resistant to it.
But their fortune ended there. Grunty wasn't as fresh as he had been at the beginning of the fight, having eaten an attack like that, so there wasn't a whole lot of energy left for him to throw into that kind of jump. And hitting another Gug was a little like smashing into a wall.
The other Gug was already recovering, turning around for a counterattack... In this sort of situation, the small but persistent edge that the opponent had on them in terms of speed would really tell.
"Breathe fire at him one more time," Aster urged. Grunty snorted and drew in a deep breath. It would probably come too late, but maybe if there was some sort of fluke...
