Renathan probably wasn't going to try to be here all day, but he figured that it might be good to go out and do a good deed for someone today. He didn't really have a lot of time to do it, but he might be able to move some time around to work on it. He was in a pretty good mood, since he had already gotten an orbaru breeding done earlier that day, and he had already used the spell that would allow him to be away from Auburn until 7 in the morning tomorrow Morning, so he thought he would use it anyway. Might as well be economical, he thought, and that was that. On his break from work, Renathan went to the questing board and as he was walking towards it across from the Questing bank, Renathan had realized that there was already someone there! It was an avian individual, putting up a flyer for a quest, from the looks of the situation.

It was not exactly common to see an avian individual, and there were not any peoples like them that lived back on the continent that Renathan had migrated from. He didn't stare, however, and just politely averted his eyes to the ground as the individual scooted away. Renathan then glanced back up, feeling that cold spot on his shoulder even more acutely now than he had earlier, and stepped up to the quest board the rest of the way. He was a quiet individual most of the time, and today was no different. He missed having Auburn on his shoulder, singing her little song, but he really couldn't go everywhere with her. He tried not to put her in unnecessary danger, which was probably a dumb idea most of the time. He should probably bring her with him more often. Renathan thought of this as he just kind of blankly stared at the quest board.

Renathan shook his head, getting himself out of his little stupor type of situation. He often went into these moments where he just kind of stopped and thought for a moment. He didn't have a whole lot of time today, after all, before he had to go back to work so he needed to get this worked on as soon as possible. Renathan put his hand on the board and looked over the quests kind of boredly. There were so many of them, and not many seemed to actually matter. Some of them required skills that he didn't really have, like cooking. Someone was looking for cooking help, someone else was looking for a tutor, and still someone else was looking for a house cleaner. Renathan chuckled under his breath at that one. He really didn't have the time to take on things like that. He wanted to do a quest, but preferably one someone really needed done.

There were other quests, too. Renathan wasn't sure if anyone even took the quests that were the 'small stuff'. He knew that there was a bug outbreak during the first part of summer that threatened some crops, but he had no idea how many people went to go help with that. As for Renathan, he didn't sweat that sort of thing at all. He only wanted to use his time for the most important of the processes needing to happen. He just didn't really have time to work on quests each month like some other folks did. He hoped that he would have time to do this one, at the very least. "Huh, which one will I pick..." He mumbled, continuing to look at them. He finally got to the other end of the board without really picking anything yet. Undoubtedly, the quest shop across the street would be glaring at him as he fiddled about.

The other side of the quest board had, in fact, the newest placed one on it; the one from the avian gentle-person. Renathan pulled it down gently enough that he could put it back up if he decided not to do this after all. He had been hesitant to go straight for that one, mostly since he figured that there were other quests beyond all of these that could be done that had been waiting for longer. He didn't want to grab for the latest one and not give the older ones a chance. He totally understood now why they were here, though. It wasn't shocking to him that those lesser quests were still left. Hopefully someone just starting out would come get them sooner or later? Renathan turned over the thin sheet of paper in his hands. It wasn't anything too special, but Renathan wanted to make sure that he saw everything on it, and got all of the information.

The avian individual was certainly not a sort of avian that Renathan had seen before, either. There were some avians working at the gemstone workshop, but he had only ever seen them in passing, sadly. The one that was here was barn-owl like, Renathan had to say to himself. It was very neat to see someone like that, Renathan had been just as surprised about humans when he first got to Tumai to get to the Labs. Humans were also pretty and strange, and he didn't think he'd ever get used to seeing new groups of people and enjoying learning new things. He wondered if someday, he'd manage to go to a few different other places in pethia? Renathan didn't really have a direction in mind, or really a destination, but maybe someday he'd get to see that 'city in the sky' that was supposedly existent. It may not be, but Renathan would love to find it if so!

Renathan thought about this some more, and then finally got around to reading the paper after taking in all of the images. The entire thing was illustrated, and it was carefully reprinted. Renathan wondered if maybe he wasn't putting up the adds in other places as well? The add itself was apparently asking for a quest-er to come and camp out in front of his shed, to check for an animal that was stealing things, apparently? Renathan hadn't really heard of that one before. It was probably some kind of a slynk, or lerrel, or maybe even a shiku. Renathan had heard of those getting into people's trash cans, at least. He'd never heard of an animal going in and stealing people's painting supplies, though. That was a new one? Renathan held the paper between his leathery palms and thought; what kind of changes do I need to make to my schedule to pick this one up?

Renathan finally realized that he'd have to wait a day to do this, and then spend the day with Auburn so that he could use the sever bond spell the night of, right before going out. That way Auburn wouldn't accidentally be hurt by the familiar spell he had accidentally taken on her when he first became an elemental. Renathan decided that this was what he was going to do, since he figured he could do this quest readily enough, so he took the flyer over to the questing shop and took himself out on it, replying that he would do it the following night, and not that night, since he had to settle some things. At that, he went home for the evening. The walk home he kept folding and unfolding the information flyer, thinking about all the work he would have to do in order to get this fixed up. But he could do it, he was sure!

A low breeze caught the flyer for a moment, if you held on tight maybe it wouldn't blow away, best be careful!

Renathan got home not too long after that, patted Auburn gently on the head, and then got some sleep. He always made sure to get within range of Auburn way before the time wore off. That morning he began preparing items to go, called to his cafe to let those he was training know that he would going to be out for the tomorrow, and then he took Auburn to work with him. After doing that and working most of the day, Renathan took Auburn home with him and then got everything else around together so that he could go eventually. After packing his pack, tent, and sleeping bag, Renathan performed the spell that would allow him to move out of Auburn's range, and then he immediately set off. Everyone had been fed today, and everything was taken care of. Renathan was ready to spend at least part of the night watching out for whatever was out there.

Renathan followed the directions on the piece of paper, and he had spent quite a bit of time folding and unfolding it as he did so. Was he perhaps nervous? That was probably the entirety of it. He didn't do a whole lot of quests all the time, but he wanted to do this one. He was really just putting off training Shy Guy in all honesty, he really wanted to be able to work on it, but he was still anxious to really spend time with him and look at his poor sad eyes. Shy Guy had not taken the pit well, and that was Renathan's fault. At first, he'd been sick, then angry, and then sick again. Renathan had not at all been taking it well either, in fact he took it much worse. He had only to think about it now, and it was just sad to really think about it.

It took Renathan a long while to get from his farmstead way down on Miisaa to get to the main hub of town, let alone anywhere beyond that. He often used to ride the unbelievably swift Shy Guy down the street, racing just about, and leaping over cross-ways. Renathan loved to ride Shy Guy, but he never really felt like doing it anymore, so he walked. He wished that he had brought him, he wanted nothing more than to play with the fellow. He did adore Shy Guy, and he still took all the time in the world to clean and feed him, but he hadn't feel well when being around him lately. Renathan sighed, folding and unfolding the paper in his hands continuously and nervously. Perhaps he would feel better if he just bit the bullet, he thought. Perhaps, anyway. It was always possible that he would not, of course.

Renathan never really felt more strange than he did whenever he was anywhere around Shy Guy now. He felt super guilty, but walking this whole distance without any help did take a while. Renathan just continued on his way, crossing streets and walking down the sidewalks to the best of his ability, and he found himself enjoying the autumn air and scenery. The city was alight with the flaming colors of the autumn trees, and it crinkled with the whistling of the wind in the trees. Renathan was quiet, listening for all of the autumn noises. Not too far away, there was a vulticus, barking at a kid that was holding a toy above it's head. The thing was scarcely a pup, of course. Renathan felt himself smiling beneath his mask. He didn't really have any puppies or anything like that, BUT he sometimes wondered if he should perhaps get some new blood in his kennel at some point...

Renathan wasn't really thinking of vulticus, though. He had two of them, and he needed to train them, but he wasn't going to pick up any more. He was considering an equillion or two, perhaps. Renathan wondered if breeding Shy Guy for the first time since he grew to old might help put them both at ease. He had several sons and daughters when he was adult, getting out of the pen before Renathan could even train him. Renathan only owned one of those now, since he mostly gave away or sold the others due to aggressiveness and other issues, and he planned on giving that one as an excellent gift to someone that was in need of a strange looking mount. Renathan would like to have another 'Shy Guy' to train as well, alongside the father. He knew that Shy Guy might just need to raise a kid of his to really get past all of this... Perhaps?

Renathan thought about this all the way up to the street that he was supposed to go to, his feet dragging along the grass as he did so. Could he do that? Could he actually get a breeding done for Shy Guy, and would that work out the way he hoped? Renathan really didn't know. However, he did hope to be able to fix this issue between himself and Shy Guy at some point. They couldn't keep on like this, but Renathan would do anything to make it right between them at the very least. He breathed out quietly. "I finally managed to figure this out, did I?" At that, he tsked. Renathan quietly walked the rest of the way to a yard, and then looked up at the place, gasping as he did. He didn't think he'd ever seen a home like this, in all of his travels!
