Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

The next battle had begun already, to Fiera's surprise. It looked liked the sarane tournament was hustling forward a lot faster than the last one she had participated in. Was it because sarane were just more hardy than most creatures and thus needed less healing, or was it because people were just excited to be battling sarane again after so long? Fiera couldn't say for sure, but all she knew was that she had gotten the call to come in for the fight sooner than expected. Algol had performed admirably in their last fight against that purple drake offspring, managing to land a hit despite it disappearing entirely. Fiera had no clue how he managed to do that, but she wasn't about to question it and had been flaunting his win all day. Needless to say, she was feeling pretty confident about this next match, though only time would tell if it was warranted.
(Ready!)

The first fight had gone pretty well, but then Aster supposed it had to. It was an untrained brown drake, just like he had thought, and at this point it would be kind of sad if Aurelius had trouble with anything like that. He wondered if the rest of the tournament was going to be that easy. The last time Aurelius had been to one of these things, they'd run up against some pretty skilled opponents.
... If Aster thought this tournament was going to be entirely untrained tier one browns, though, the second fight proved him pretty handily wrong. Their opponent was a third tier, even if the drake did look like a regular brown, and based on his bearing, Aster was willing to bet that he was broken, and trained to boot.
Well, this promised to be interesting if nothing else. Aster left Aurelius in the ring to size up his opponent, and walked up to the stands.

The woman with the other drake looked a little familiar too, in a more recent sort of way. Had Aster seen her somewhere...? The contest ring, maybe? He hadn't, admittedly, been paying too much attention to the people there. The crowds had been hard enough not to think about, and if he made too much eye contact, one of the other competitors might have tried to start a conversation with him. Couldn't have that.
She didn't look like the type he'd expect at one of these things, but a trained drake commanded some measure of respect. And some measure of caution too. Aster didn't trust the situation enough to go in directly with an attack right off the bat. {Screech at him,} Aster said to Aurelius. It was a little unconventional, but Aurelius hadn't been able to muster up a roar, so ungodly shrieking it was.
With Aster's signal, Aurelius took a deep breath, ready to loose hell on his opponent's ears.

Well, shoot. This creature certainly looked tougher than the last sarane they had fought. It had a tail club for one, a massive, brutal looking thing, and a mix of colors and patterns that indicated a long and lethal lineage. And to add insult to injury, it had another one of those pieces of jewelry that Fiera had spotted on the last opponent that made it so dazzlingly fast. Fiera sighed- this wasn't going to be an easy match, now was it? Even mere moments after the whistle was blown, the other sarane's owner called out a command and the other tier three leapt into action, a low noise coming from its throat. Fiera gritted her teeth, drumming her fingers on the guard rail. "Algol, roar!" She called, hoping that the sarane would be able to muster up the speed to hit their opponent before they hit him. Only time would tell however.

Aster had wondered whether they would be beaten to the punch when the other handler called out her command, but it looked like Aurelius was a little faster. He had just enough time to clap his hands over his own ears before Aurelius's jaws opened and he let loose with an ear-splitting screech. The opponent froze up for a moment at the sound, creating the opening that Aster was hoping for.
{Good,} Aster said. And so far, it was. But a third-tier was a bit beefier than a first-tier, and this one seemed trained to boot. They'd want to end this quickly, if they could. The opening wouldn't last too long either. {Aurelius, I want you to jump on him. The way you used to do with bugs when you were small, got it? Throw your whole weight on him.}
Aurelius was brought up short for a moment, but then Aster saw him drop into a crouch, and breathed a little easier. It seemed like he wasn't too confused by the idea to give it a try.

Fiera sighed disappointedly as the screech from the other tier three sarane brought Algol to his knees. He was probably done for now, all things considered. Whichever pet was faster usually won these sorts of fights, and it looked like this other tier three was on top. She supposed she couldn't blame them- they were a lot more finely bred than Algol, and clearly had more tricks up their sleeve. Still, she couldn't just roll over and give up now. In a last ditch effort, Fiera thought that maybe- JUST maybe- Algol could dodge his opponent's next move. It was worth a try at least. "Algol, get out of there! Fly!" She ordered, hoping he would hear her in time. The sarane immediately began flapping his wings, attempting to take off. His opponent was gaining speed as she watched. This would be a close call, if it even worked at all.

Holy cow... had that gambit actually worked? Fiera stared, gobsmacked, and what had just happened in the arena. One moment, Aurelius had been bearing down on him full strength, the next he was up in the air, dancing over the other drake's head while the other looked around awkwardly. She had done it! She quickly shook her head though, shaking herself out of her previous stupor. "Okay... uh..." She doubted she had any attacks that would knock Aurelius out entirely, but this was still a good time to get in a strike. Still, she wanted Algol to keep his distance, as that was what had saved him. "Okay Algol- breathe fire!" She called out into the arena, and saw the telltale glint of recognition in Algol's eye. He opened his jaws and sparks began to fly from between his teeth before his signature gush of flame poured from his throat.

Well. Aster certainly hadn't expected that to happen. Missing when you were slow was one thing, but... "Ah, damn," he muttered under his breath, watching Aurelius careen past his opponent. Maybe teaching Aurelius a body slam as his primary means of attack hadn't been the best idea, if it was messing with his aim.
What was worse, the opening gave the other drake enough time to get airborne, so they'd lost that advantage too... Though at least it wasn't one that couldn't be regained.
The miss had unsettled Aster a little, but he forced himself back to calm. He had to keep it together for Aurelius to keep his head, and if they lost... Well, it wasn't the first time for either of them. {Fly,} Aster said grimly. Being assaulted from aloft was never a favorable position. As the flames began to lick from the brown drake's jaws, Aurelius bunched his hindquarters beneath him, wings unfurling as he prepared to launch himself into the air.

The other drake's jaws opened to loose a jet of fire, but fortunately Aurelius had recovered his bearings somewhat, and managed to swerve away just as he was taking off. Aster gripped the rails, thinking fast. They were both airborne now, so at least Aurelius wouldn't be caught like a sitting duck as his opponent rained down attacks from overhead.
He could just order Aurelius to attack again, but... Aster frowned, came to a decision, and gave Aurelius a different command instead. {Put him to sleep,} Aster instructed.
Aster thought Aurelius might have been surprised by the instruction, but Aurelius simply took it in stride, and slowed his pace so he could glower at the brown drake. It was something he had been taught, after all, even if it had been some time since he had last had to use it. Hopefully he remembered enough to put it to good use against a live opponent.

Well, crap. Fiera had forgotten that Aurelius probably knew danger sense as well, and now he was up in the air with Algol as well, and still had that damnable bracelet on. This probably wasn’t going to end well for them. Still, the match wasn’t over yet, so she couldn’t really give up now, now could she? Algol circled around, glancing over his shoulder at Fiera for guidance. “Algol, uh…” She said, realizing that she still didn’t know what she wanted him to do. “Roar!” She called. Maybe they could bother Aurelius with it enough that the other drake would be forced to land again and they could take it from there. Algol flew up above the other sarane and hissed quietly before starting up on a deafening roar which echoed across the arena. Fiera plugged her ears nonchalantly, hoping that it would be enough for them to make it another precious few seconds.
