Morgan was not entirely ready to hit the mansion when they got to the Canyon of Eterra. Young dragon carried in one backpack, and clothes and other needed supplies in a second backpack. A simple sack carried Morgan's fishing gear. They stashed the items in a tavern (the only tavern in the Canyon, ran by a bonded pair that understood that most visitors to the canyon do not have access to a cavern of their own yet) and then carried just the items they needed down to the river below. The banks were a little narrower than Morgan would have liked, but it was still large enough for most malavos to be able to walk them with room, so it was more than enough room for the bespectacled human (currently in swimming gear, but not really planning to try to swim in such a dangerous river of course) and the young sleeping draconic. He'd not yet woken since Morgan had met him for longer than an hour, and they hoped to be able to rouse him soon.

Morgan knew that this amount of sleeping was not really normal for a draconic young one, and that was partially the reason why they didn't want to go home yet... In fact, Morgan knew that Vixie was going to be -furious-. Of course, this was not planned on Morgan's part. How were they supposed to know that their soul was apparently going to create a literal dragon? It was going to be a big row, they knew. For now, however, they were more worried about getting Endymion awake, and perhaps doing some fishing. Morgan selects a small spot with a rock lip just before it drops down into the river about six inches down. They figured this spot would be safest for him, at least. Finally, they set both of the backpacks down, and open up the one with the equipment in it. Little Endymion's backpack was already open, because he was almost too big to fit in it.

At this, Morgan felt around the supply backpack until they removed the few items they had brought for fishing. It had been such a long time since they had fished, they weren't really sure if they even remembered how. They had the bare minimum here. Cheap liver bait, a net, a good pole, and a set of rubber boots. They took the moment to remove their good boots and place them over to the side before pulling on the rubber boots with some difficulty. They put the good boots next to the supply backpack, and then rummaged around again for dinner. They had no idea what Endymion would eat. They hoped that something would let them know whenever he woke up. In the meantime, they brought a bit of a pick-me-up for them, some hot wings, and some desserts that they hoped that Endymion might like. As soon as they were done getting everything together, they took a deep breath.

This was absolutely ridiculous. Morgan did not have the time to be out here, figuring out how to raise a baby draconic. Sure, they often spent time hanging out with Vixie, but Vixie was scarcely a child. She was just too intelligent to have had a moment of needing Morgan to care for her. She learned quite quickly the run of the estate. Morgan knew nothing about Endymion, save for his name. They breathed in the river's clean smell, and then turned around. Their voice caught in their throat, but they pushed through it. It was important that they get him awake as soon as possible. "Endymion." Morgan finally gets out, reaching out to him to wake him. They hadn't tried to wake him purposefully at all yet, so they were shocked that as soon as they place their hand on his shoulder, that his eyes snapped open in a shocking bright blue.

Morgan was suddenly unable to look away from his face. It was a strange moment, they weren't entirely sure what it was at first. They realized suddenly that the sensation could be likened to feeling like they were floating outside of their body. They snatched their hand away in an instant, but Endymion seemed to be keeping himself awake, now. His eyes were so blue, the sky looked pale by comparison. Morgan blinked, knowing full well that they probably looked stupid, and then knew that they had no idea what to say. Endymion just looks at Morgan with a calm and level-headed gaze, and then yawns. He stretches out, and half falls out of the backpack with a rather undignified squeak. Morgan reaches out instinctively and steadies him. They aren't sure if he could speak or anything at all, let alone yet. Morgan's mouth was very dry. Endymion reaches out with one dark paw, paws at Morgan's arm reassuringly (reassuringly, they thought? where did that come from?).
Morgan has their back turned to the water, for now.

Little Endymion lets out a long yawn, almost catlike, and cranes his head a bit like a newborn fawn. Could he even walk yet? Morgan had carried him everywhere, because he was sleeping. They didn't have the heart to ask him. Instead, they reached out, touching his shoulder again, and patting it. They watched his face and then slowly started to stand up and turned around theirself. Endymion kept his electric blue eyes on Morgan's hazel ones, knowingly. And slowly but surely began to rise to his feet. His legs wobbled. Morgan watched him as he slowly stood up, holding his tail out instinctively for balance, and finally, he stands in place unshaken. The human feels oddly proud, though not entirely sure why they do. It is an odd disembodied feeling. But the idea of a disembodied feeling was one that they were familiar with and had been for a long while.

Morgan knew that it was time to get some food in the little one. They weren't sure exactly how they had come to that understanding... A second ago, they had not been hungry, and then all of a sudden, it was all they could think about to eat. It was suddenly a little obvious to them. Endymion was hungry. This was second-hand hunger pangs, it would seem. Morgan's mouth shaped into a little voiceless 'oh', and then they moved immediately over to the basket filled with food items. All of them were pretty small, but they brought extra just to make sure that they'd have enough for Endymion. They vaguely wondered what he liked, and then realized he had not eaten yet, so neither of them had any idea yet. The human carefully dug around in the container, and they pulled out a baggie with a few sticks in it. How about this, they wondered.

Endymion was regarding Morgan with a calm curiosity for a long moment, and then looked at the bag with near lightning reflexes that Morgan was not expecting to see so quickly. After a little while of Morgan being entirely too slow really. Then after a little while, Endymion cast his gaze up, towards the walls of the canyon on either side. Morgan could see his pupils expand and contract as his eyes traveled up and down the vines. His eyes glistened as he saw the other draconics moving every now and again between the walls or flying above. He saw clouds and the fading evening blue that would soon cast golden-red. He was curious about the world. Morgan finally catches his attention with yet another pat on the shoulder. He looks at Morgan first, and then over at the packet of food that was held in front of his face. Morgan shows him how to open it slowly.

Of course, Morgan wasn't sure if Endymion's hands could possibly do this action, but they were sure that they were going to find out eventually. For now, they understood that it was perhaps a bit of a feat that he was simply standing without wobbling. Morgan reached into the bag and pulled one of the sticks out. Skewered on the stick was some chicken that Morgan had made when they had the chance, seasoned lightly, but well. They weren't sure how much his stomach would be able to take, what with the strange way that he entered existence. The human carefully took the meat off of the skewer, showing him, and then gave him the meat by placing it on his paws. Endymion reaches down, and sniffs it, as if he was trying to decide what it was. After a moment or two, instinct seems to take over, and he chews it calmly.

Morgan observes the draconic's face to see if he likes it. They aren't entirely sure if he does or not. They close the little plastic bag up, and Endymion watches with his deep gaze. He seems to be thinking about something. Morgan drops the plastic baggie into the container, and then glances back behind them. They heard a noise, something like a fish flopping into the river. They could practically feel Endymion watch them, and then look down at the water. Morgan turns back to him, after not having located any sign of the fish save for the resounding ripples in the water. The young draconic was staring down at the rippling river with his bright blue eyes. It was high, even for this time of year. He wobbles back and forth for a moment, but doesn't walk forward. Morgan couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about as he gazed across the water.

The water WAS beautiful, Morgan noted. Sure, during the dry season it was often muddy and murky as well as hot and low in comparison to the rest of the year... But during the wet season, like it was at the moment, it was high, a little too cool, and crystal clear. The top of the river was fast running, and had little rivulets that caused the light to bounce off of it. During the high-noon, it was almost blinding in a way that hurt Morgan's eyes enough to keep them from being out during the middle of the day most of the time. However, they were often one to come out in the early mornings for a moment or two, or during the evening like it was now, to see how pretty the sunrises and sunsets were as they bounced off of the water at just the right angle to paint the canyon in red-tinted rainbow hues.
They were waiting on that, to show Endymion, but it would be an hour or so yet.

Endymion's eyes were darting from the way the light of the fading blue sky and the cloudy reflection on the mirror-esque surface (marred by little rivulets here and there) of the water. Morgan realized that he was discovering reflections for the first time. They couldn't help but stare at him curiously, as he did so. It was almost a magical thing, noticing such a young one learn about the world. It was nearly like teaching Millicent, but it was almost like teaching theirself, as well. It was a strange thing. Sure, it seemed like Endymion was young, but it also didn't feel like that. It was odd, and Morgan wasn't sure exactly how to puzzle it out.
Still, Morgan doesn't speak, not quite yet. They instead pulled another little treat from the food box, this time something spicy. They preferred spicy food, so they had made fajita fixings, but only enough for one, for Endymion.
