She wasn't necessarily embarrassed of her habit, she was more upset that she was thinking of more Houluh when she didn't have all of hers trained up already, not even a Silky yet and she had a few on deck. Whatever, she knew this was bad of her, but she would still do what she was doing until the end of time, she figured. "I'd love to enter one as well, I'm thinking maybe Snow or Heathen, they're both okay at that sort of thing, but I'd need to train one of them up a little more as well," she explained with a smile as she watched the two Houluh.
Arvest was excited, she had dropped the ball finally! He lunged forward to grab it and wondered what game they should play. But with the ball safely in his mouth, he shot forward and tore off further into the room to see if she would chase.

Maybe that was what she could do after this... go teach Spot a couple things relevant to the next salonne. She really shouldn't, there was a deadline on Jupiter's initial training that Sevyrn was pushing herself to handle first, but it wasn't going to be long until the next salonne.. she had a much bigger grace period to teach Jupi a few more things and hopefully satisfy the HAA's requirements.
"Then I guess it'll be you and me not making the ranks once again," Sevyrn joked, referencing the fact that neither of them really seemed to be prepared for a strength salonne. There were so many amazing houlou in these shows and she was a straight up beginner - Sevyrn didn't plan on winning but it made for great experience.
Sweetie went nuts when Arvest ran off with the ball and she took chase - a fast little thing, but not quite as quick as he seemed to be. Once she got close she tried to block him off, and barked at him while in another play stance.

All she could do was laugh and that and nodded, "Unless they take pity on one of us and let us rank no matter what. Hey we might rank if there's only three people who enter anyway!" Another laugh escaped her as she thought about it and she wondered what to do if that happened. Certainly she would take the points, but for now she just needed to swallow her pride a little and figure out if that was going to be worth it. She didn't want to rank just out of pity, but that might happen no matter what, just to see what was going to happen.
The Houluh barked around the ball and dropped down a little with a small growl as he shook his head. Arvest dropped the ball after a moment rolled it toward her, smiling a little as he wondered what her reaction would be to something like that.

Sevyrn got a laugh out of that, but she really wouldn't want to get a pity ranking - that would hurt what was left of her pride more than straight up losing did. Of course if there were only three people and third place was also last place that would be one thing, but she just... absolutely did not want any kind of pity votes, they wouldn't help her learn and grow as a houlou trainer.
The ball hit the ground and started to roll, which sent Sweetie in to another craze - she meant to simply snap it up herself, but instead accidentally knocked it so hard with one of her paws that it shot back toward where the people sat chatting. Sevyrn scooped it off the ground before Sweetie could even get half wsy to it, and tossed it back to the playing pups.
"I don't think that I'd like a pity pass," Sev said. "I'd rather earn it myself, even if that third place ends up meaning I was in last, it would be better than scoring 3 out of 5 because the judges felt bad I'd bombed a few."

"Oh I agree," Jack said, watching Sevyrn toss the ball back to the Houluh. Arvest was having fun with everything it would seem, and he barked at the pretty Matronne as the ball came back to them. He didn't know what to do with it, but that was fine, he knew that everything was going to end well so far! Although... he was still iffy on why they were here in the first place, though the Matronne was very pretty and he was very aware of that at the moment.
"I'd rather lose than get a pity vote, though at least either way you get contest hall points, right?" she said with a chuckle, "I mean it's not like anything will hurt our ability to train up and raise Houluh if we don't do well in the Hall, right?" It wasn't like she was going to stop, and that was fine by her at this point.

"Nah - if you ask me, losing is just a motivation to try a little harder for next time." They would only ever be the maestro of a salonne if they pup the effort in to their houloy, and Sevyrn low key had a goal that she never expected to meet but was fun nonetheless - win each variety of salonne that was ran. Would it ever happen? Probably not. Would it push her to do the best that she could? Absolutely. As much as she absolutely could be a sore loser at times, that tended to be more in her personal life or when only other people were involved.
Sweetie ended up ditching the ball to try to play with Arvest himself - gently nibbling at the end of one of the patronne's long flowing ears. She immeduately ducked away and then moved back in towards him to lick at his cheek. Well... these two were getting along well. Sev had a feeling that puppies would be pretty soon in their future. What babies would these guys bring? What kind of pup would she end uo taking home?
