Mu inclined her head to show that she appreciated the gesture of his offering the haunch to her, but in the end she didn't take a bite. "For the clan," she said, indicating the rest of the carcass. She made a point never to hunt when she herself was hungry; she wouldn't be at her best at a time like that, and gaining a reputation for bringing home half-eaten kills wasn't something she was interested in cultivating.
At his words, she gave a fierce grin. "Hiding and poison? Many ways, but hunting with claws and fangs more fun." She was normally a relatively laid-back individual, but she did so love the thrill of besting something with her own brawn.
She wasn't prepared for him to approach her, however, and lifted the wing that he was inspecting with a confused look. She didn't quite ask him what he was doing, but the question was writ clearly over her expression.

Poison eh? Now that was an interesting thought, something he should definitely work on some more if it was up to him. He tapped his lower jaw with a claw as he thought about it, perhaps he could handle something that woman called a 'blow dart' with his claws and hunt from the sidelines? That would be interesting, and he just hoped it wouldn't poison the meat, at least not too badly. If he could manage to save someone in his clan from meat he himself had tainted? Well, they wouldn't need to know it was him who did it, now did they?
Lich let his wings flap for a moment as he pulled back and he smiled, "A flying contest? To see how you do in the air? We could find something to hunt and see which of us can take it first?" It was something he was sure would interest her, no doubt about it.

She figured from his expression that she had given him food for thought, though she couldn't have guessed what exactly he was thinking.
At his suggestion of a flying contest, Mu perked up right away, though she faltered slightly when she remembered the carcass that she had just brought down. It wasn't that she didn't think she could find something again if it got stolen, but it would definitely be a waste. She hadn't brought it down just to give it up to scavengers, after all.
"Wait," she said, and quickly dug a shallow pit, into which she cached the kill, disguising it with what vegetation she could find. The real trouble would be finding it later... But she would worry about that when she returned, she supposed. She stared hard at it for a moment, committing it to memory, before turning back to the Kitava. "Okay," she said, nodding. "A contest."

Nodding happily, Lich perked up as well, watching her hide her kill for a moment and commit it to memory, or at least that's what he thought she was doing. If need be, he would help her find it later on, he had a sensitive nose after all. Now the real question was, did he let her win it or actually give her a little trouble? Hmm, that was a tough one, but he would figure it out eventually, he decided. Lich sniffed the air and then waved a paw, "How far do we go? And in the same direction, go for the same kill?" He had seen a rather large figure a little ways away on his way here, so that might make a good kill. It looked like a large deer, which would work in their favor, plus it would give them some trouble with the antlers he had seen.
He relayed this information to the other Draconic, and then settled back on his haunches, ready to take off if she agreed.

Mu listened to the Kitava's proposal, then gave a nod. "First to kill, wins," she agreed. As for how far they would go, well, that depended on how far it took for them to find something to hunt, didn't it? But he seemed to already have a target in mind.
She wasn't worried. She was a good flier, and a confident hunter to boot. But she also wouldn't have minded if she lost, she supposed; it was always good to learn new tricks too. The fun was in the effort of it for her, and in the flying itself.
As soon as the terms were agreed to and she saw him make ready to fly, she gathered her hindquarters under herself, then launched into flight with a leap. She beat her wings hard to gain height, muscles straining; each flap of her wings carried her further away from the ground.

First to kill. He was a sneaky hunter, if he hunted at all, that's what he wanted them for, part of the way at least. Lich smiled as he watched her take off and then jumped into the sky himself, feeling the air under his wings as they spread open to catch the drifts. This was a good day, and he knew that things would work out for them in the long run if they just focused. He hoped some things would work out for them at least, and he watched her in the distance as he leisurely flew along behind her.
This was good, he knew where his game was, and he strained to get there after a few moments of flying. It was going to be great, he would take it down, impress her,, and perhaps gain a pity wound at the same time. His eyes caught the massive deer, and he started to descend quickly, tucking his wings in beside himself.

Mu started out confidently; the other Draconic was behind her, and lower to the ground. She had this. But it seemed that he had picked out a target already, and too late she saw what he was going for. She stooped into a dive, wings half folded; her weight carried her down and she felt the familiar and heady rush of adrenaline that always came with it. But she knew even as she dove that she wouldn't be fast enough. The height that she had gained in the air lent extra power to her dives, but it meant that he was closer, and she pulled out of her stoop early to give him room. She had no intention of sabotaging him once it became apparent she couldn't beat him to the deer, and there was no sense in crashing into him and losing both of them the chance at the prey.

Lich glanced to the side for a moment as he heard her rush in behind him. Maybe he'd had the advantage, maybe it was a little unfair, but whatever worked for him, he supposed. The Draconic plunged onto the deer, claws digging in deep as the animal screamed and dug into his side with it's antlers. Lich snarled and bit down on the beast's throat as he himself bled for a little while, but he had a way to get around that and slowly became intangible, as though he was water. There was still blood, but at least it helped him out a little bit.
After he took down the deer and made sure it was dead, he solidified again and settled down to lick at his wounds a bit. Things weren't quite going his way, but that was alright, he could figure out an advantage no matter what. Still, being a sneaky hunter was preferable to... this way. Smiling, however, he beamed at Mu, wondering what she would think.

Mu landed a little ways away, close enough to spring and take over if it looked as though the Kitava was having any trouble - or if there was an opening. It wasn't finished until the prey was dead, after all. But despite the wound that the deer inflicted on him, the Kitava held fast, and eventually the deer was subdued. Mu watched with fascination as the Kitava vanished briefly. She had seen the ability in a few Shalaya before, but never up close, and certainly never from a Draconic of his type and stature.
"Good kill," she said, and meant it. He had won, but as she had expected, she really didn't feel the loss. It had been a highly interesting spectacle to watch. "That..." She made a gesture toward the Kitava, then wiggled her claws to indicate the part where he had vanished. "That was magic?" She never had learned exactly how it worked.

Licking one last time before the wound stopped bleeding profusely, Lich shook his head. "Not magic, magic. More like... something I can do without learning the magic behind it in the first place. Surely there's a few things you know how to do innately?" he asked, tilting his head as he nudged the prey closer to her after a moment or two. He wanted to share it with her, as an apology for making her miss the last of it. This was going to work, or at least he hoped it would, and the Kitava smirked a little as he pulled himself to his full height.
"For you?" came the offer with a little smile, nudging it a bit closer to her again, "To make up for what you offered earlier." It was going to be fine, he thought he had this done and done how things were going to be after a little while.

Mu contemplated what the Kitava said for a moment, then closed her eyes in concentration. Darkness gathered around her briefly, then dissipated. "Like this?" she said. It was one of the things that she and her siblings had always been able to do since their youth, though none of them had practiced very earnestly with it.
His offer of the deer was very kind. At first, she thought of refusing, but something else occurred to her. She tore into the haunch just as he had, and had herself a big bite. "Thank you," she said, a little blood still dripping from her jaws; she was not as neat as he had been about it. "But no, your kill. I only take this." Fair was fair, after all. And she was sure he had his own clan to feed. Even if he didn't, a handsome deer like this would sate his own hunger for a few days, at least.
