Another rodent was near, and they both wondered if it was the same one as before. It almost had to be, didn't it? Jack frowned a little and patted Di on the head, she needed to settle down and focus on what she was looking for. The Ohou was getting a little bummed about things, she kept losing the trail, but that was fine all the same she knew with a little smile on her face. Di was doing fine, she would just need to work a little harder at finding things right now she figured with a low nod. Ah well, for now they just needed to watch for sunrise on the horizon before they dealt with anything else. They didn't need to give up just yet, everything was going to be alright in the end, they just needed to keep going for now, right? It just made sense.

Di was gaining experience with this hunt at least, she had to remember that much. Sighing though, the woman shook her head when she saw the bird again, though it escaped the Ohou's notice. She wished there was something she could do for her, but when she got caught on the scent of a flower again, there wasn't much she could do. Oh well, it didn't really matter though she figured with a small yawn, it was rough being up at this hour but she was managing with a few sips of coffee every now and then from a thermos she had with her. Di was trying to find the sounds of the bird again, her ears perked up a bit as she wandered around, sniffing around to try and catch a scent of it as well. There had to be one in the area at least, right? She thought so at least.

Without knowing what was really going on, Di dove forward a little and found more rodent tracks. She turned her nose up, that wasn't what she was going for, which was irritating no matter how she looked at it. A sigh escaped the Ohou for a moment and she shook her head, she had to focus if she was going to get this bird. Although she did wonder if it was going to be exactly like her father's. It was going to be alright, so she hoped that things were going to go well for them in the long run, though she just wasn't sure she wanted to know either when all was said and done. Tilting her head, the woman watched as Di sniffed around with her ears perked some more, this was frustrating for the Ohou, but there wasn't much else she could do for her, which was a shame when all was said and done.

Jack just didn't know what to do for her, it was starting to get later in the night and she knew dawn was around the corner. Maybe they could at least find a feather or something, wouldn't that be interesting? Frowning a bit, she hoped that it was going to work out for them, and Di forged ahead, ready to get this done and over with. As she walked though, she knew that this was a lot harder than she had originally thought it was going to be, based on what her father had told her at least. Hmm, that was a shame, maybe she wasn't as good as he was, that was always a possibility, she knew. Maybe her mother had interfered a little with her hunting ability, she really didn't know though, which was irritating when all was said and done. Oh well, things would be alright no matter what.

Shaking her head as she tried to get the scent of flowers out of her nose again, Di gave a little sigh and slumped a bit. She hadn't found the trail of the bird since the very beginning of the hunt, and she was getting a little cranky. It would be fine though, she thought with a frown, they could come back tomorrow night if they didn't find it. Glancing back at the woman, she saw her looking her way and tilted her head, it looked like she was trying not to look at some certain place. Di narrowed her eyes a little and looked at her, trying to decide if she was doing something interesting or not. Well, this had to mean something, but the woman couldn't help her any, which was an issue, it had to be all her if this was going to be good she knew a little.

Nothing, there was nothing in the area, not even the scent of a flower or anything. It was disheartening, but at least they had more tries to get this if they didn't find it this time. Still, it was a little upsetting to the Ohou that she couldn't get this rare bird when it all came down to it. Whatever, she figured with a low sigh as she watched the woman walking behind her, swinging the light in her hands around to see what she could see. She just hoped that everything would come together before the light of day came across, though she doubted that would be the case. Whatever, she supposed, it was going to be alright no matter what, she could find something no matter what, and she hoped it would be the bird right around the corner. That would certainly be nice, she knew with a low woof.

There... there was the faint sound of a bird in the distance, and Di raised her head, closing her eyes as she sniffed the wind a little bit. That was the point of all of this, she could find the bird, she knew that she could. But would she give the bird to the woman or keep it for herself? Narrowing her eyes a little, she hoped she wouldn't have to give it up, but it wouldn't surprise her if she did in the long run. Whatever, she had a lot of things to figure out for herself at the moment, but for now she just wanted to find this bird and get it done and over with. Honestly she was getting a little tired, and she needed some sleep. However, her adrenaline was running now and she didn't know what else to do for the moment. This was irritating, but she didn't know what else to do but find it.

The Ohou found a few things and brought them to the woman, but they weren't anywhere near the bird they were trying to find. Jack looked around and thought she spotted it up in the trees but wasn't entirely sure just yet. Narrowing her eyes a little, she glanced down at Di who was sniffing around some more, trying to catch the scent or sound she was following up until now at least. Tilting her head, the woman watched her with a little smile on her face, she really hoped that she could find the bird pretty soon, it would be a shame if she didn't at this point, now wouldn't it? Oh well, they would come back tomorrow if need be, and she was sure that things would work out between them no matter what happened. As long as she thought about the whole thing, then everything would be just fine.

More things were adding up it would seem, and she didn't know what to do with them all. The Ohou plucked them from where they lay and brought them over to the woman, who then tucked them into her bag with a smile. Later on when it was lighter out she would take a look at all the resources, hopefully she would find something good from it, maybe go hunting with Merle again or something. That was at least something that would work out in the long run, though she didn't know what else to expect for now. Tilting her head a little, the woman thought about it and tapped her chin as Di tracked for the bird some more, hearing what she could from the bird as she went on. Closer and closer, she could hear it a lot better now and she hoped that things would work out no matter what.

Di went a little closer to a boulder that she saw in the slowly lightening sky. Keeping herself low, with Jack moving silently behind her, she stalked and glared at the rock. She didn't know if the bird was there or not, but it was something that needed to be checked. There was a sound coming from there, and she didn't know what to do with things just yet, it was irritating when all was said and done. Tilting her head as she stalked, she gave a low woof to try and scare the bird into flight if it was there, but probably wasn't when all was said and done. Jack watched her, holding her breath a little and hoping that she could hunt down this bird. Dawn was starting to break soon, and that meant the hunt had to be finished before then. Chewing her lip, she watched, waiting impatiently.

Just an item that was quickly deposited in her bag after Di gave it to her, Jack sighed a little. Oh well, they were still on track so far, and she knew it was going to be great no matter what happened. Jack still nervously chewed her lip as Di continued to hunt down the bird, narrowing her eyes a little as she tracked the scent and sounds she could hear over everything starting to wake up. Dawn approached, they needed some time before they could find it, and if they didn't find it, well... she would have to bring Di back the next night. Praying to whichever god would listen, Jack stayed silent as she moved behind the Ohou who hunted down what she could at the moment, though she wasn't sure what they would be able to find at the moment either. Di listened intently, hoping she could find this bird.

Di perked up her ears, but there was nothing but silence. No sounds, no scent, no nothing. Snarling a little at herself, she scuffed a paw on the dirt and grass underneath her and then whirled around on the woman. Jack narrowed her eyes at her and tapped her on the nose, making her start and shake her head. Di bobbed her head again and started off, she had to find the trail again, dawn was right around the corner, she knew that and had to fix this she knew, if only things were going to work out in their favor. It was hard to come to terms with the fact that she had lost the trail again, but... this was a hard bird to find, she wasn't going to find it the first time like her father had, after all. At least she hoped she would but it was going to be hard to duplicate.

Jack comforted her as best as she could and leaned against the boulder, sipping on her coffee with one hand as her other rubbed the Ohou's back. She would find the trail eventually, even if it took a few days, but she didn't know what to do about it just yet. This was a little disheartening, but it wasn't like all of her Ohou could find it their first try like Merle had. It was frustrating, but nothing could really be done for now she knew with a low sigh, it would be alright in the long run, but she knew they needed to finish up this hunt, with the time they had, they really needed to get going. Watch her catch the trail as soon as dawn broke and time was up though, these things were timed for three hours, and the mark was fast approaching, unfortunately it would seem.

With her bad rubbed a little, Di settled onto the ground with her nose aimed upwards as she tried to figure out if she was going to get this done or not. Maybe this was going to be for the best if she got knocked down a peg or two, she thought she was better than her father, but apparently that wasn't the case. Closing her eyes tightly, the Ohou female sniffed the air and opened up her ears, perking them up for the sound of the bird she was supposed to track after a few moments. She'd had the trail twice already, but now it seemed impossible to find it again, which was irritating her to no end it would seem. Di shifted on her belly and growled a little, upset with herself, of course, but there wasn't much she could do about it now, or at least she didn't think so.

Well, it could be worse, she could have not found the trail at all this trip and be upset about the whole thing that was happening no matter what. She had caught the trail twice already and could again, though the sun was beginning to peak just a little over the horizon, just a hint of light and she sighed a little as she opened her eyes and looked toward where the lightening sky was. It didn't matter, she could come back the next day and get this all worked out after all, but she didn't know what to think about it just yet. Shaking her head, she gave a low woof and looked up at Jack where she leaned against the boulder. She wasn't going to find it this time, which sucked, but she couldn't do much more about it unfortunately, she knew that much from what her father said.
