Level: 0 Loyalty: 9 Stamina: 1 Strength: 0 Resistance: 0 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 1 Special Abilities: Forest Dweller, Fly, Speak Moves: Sparkling Dust Today was a weird day she thought as she wandered the streets. A person was sitting on her shoulder, hanging onto her ear for stability as the woman walked along, hands in her pockets, not sure where she was going. She had that itch to go do something again, though she wasn't sure what she wanted to do, which was always the issue anymore. Jack sighed a little and gave the little Hara a side glance, it had been awhile since she had really done anything with Desi. Well... had they really ever done much? The Hara didn't seem to mind though, she thought as the little one stifled a yawn. She hadn't been paying attention and skidded to a stop next to the quest board, she'd found herself drawn to it for awhile, so maybe it was time. Perusing the papers, she finally pulled one off of the board and glanced at Desi again, who just looked bored. Pay a visit to Alura again, huh? Well, she could do that she supposed. "Plants?" Jack asked the Hara as she turned and started off toward the shops, "Doesn't seem too bad, it's like what I'm doing in my own area I figure. Gotta clear out room for new stuff every now and then." She stretched out a little as she walked and Desi narrowed her eyes a bit, contemplating what was going to happen. This was going to be rough, most plants were even bigger than she was, but she was tough and could handle them. The woman hummed a little, off tune and somewhat annoyed, but she was doing it on purpose to get a rise out of the Hara. A little chuckle escaped when Desi tweaked her ear, and she opened the door to Herbologist's Delight when she found she had reached their destination. May as well enter she figured, stepping inside and taking a look around. Should probably find Alura first, that would... that would make the most sense.

"Hey Alura, I'm back. Plants this time right?" Jack said with a small wave when she found the older woman near the back of the store. The shopkeeper lit up a little and bustled her through the back and outside to the area where she raised some of the bigger plants. A few Nyssa swayed in the breeze, stretching out their arms and shaking their leaves a little as she made sure not to spook them. It was simple enough, there was a rather brambly, thorny patch of land a little further back she wanted to extend into, but it was so overgrown she didn't think she would be able to get it done. The woman nodded a little and Desi pumped her fist in the air as their duties were explained. Alura left them some gloves and tools, and then left them to it with a heartfelt thanks. It would be worth it.

Jack cracked her fingers and helped Desi down from her shoulder onto a fencepost, and then she got to work. "Just like my own garden, gotta thin out the bushes and thorns and stuff, then we can get into a little more of the finer work. Can you get a few of the little things and see if there's anything living around here we need to watch out for? You can be lookout," the woman told the Hara, who snorted and gave a flippant salute before plopping into a sitting position on the post and looking around intently. She didn't want to worry about anything eating her, and she didn't want to worry about anything attacking the woman either, may as well watch her back she figured with a little sigh. The Hara wasn't sure what else she could be good for, but... that didn't really matter, at least she was trying, right?

"Alright, get some of the bushes and smaller sticks, toss them into the wood chipper. The wood chipper spits them into the wheelbarrow, and the wheelbarrow gets dumped into the wood chip pile near the store," Jack mumbled to herself as she started to haul on one of the bushes nearby. The last time she had done this back at the garden, she had sliced her arm open pretty badly, and she wanted to avoid that situation again. At least she had some supplies if it did though. Desi looked at her for a moment and then glanced around a little more, she had kind of a weird feeling, but didn't know what to look for just yet. She watched as Jack pulled the bush free and then tapped the roots against the ground, getting as much of the dirt out of them as possible. It didn't make sense to get rid of perfectly good soil.

It was actually kind of interesting to watch the woman work, Desi thought as she kept an eye on her while still looking out for anything that might be moving. She had grabbed a few things as they fell out of some of the nearby Nyssa so she could chuck them at the woman if she needed to get her attention, just in case. Jack glanced over at her with a little smile and then chucked the bush into the wood chipper, making sure it was on and running smoothly before she really did anything too extensive with it. This might take a little bit of time, but hey, it would hopefully be worth it, especially to Alura. The older shopkeeper was so sweet, Jack really hoped she could do something right for her, aside from buying things for quite a few credits from time to time. The new garden plot would look good though, she would make sure of it.

"Just keep working, right Desi?" Jack said, wiping a bead of sweat off of her forehead after pulling another bush out of the ground. It was so strange to see all of these dead plants when it belonged to Alura, but maybe she just hadn't had time to clear it or keep it up for a long time. That was the story she was going to go with. The Hara shrugged and then pointed at something she thought she saw moving in some of the deeper areas of the plot. Jack squinted, unsure if she saw it, but she nodded and thanked her lookout all the same, it never hurt to acknowledge someone when they were doing their job. The wood chipper hummed as she fed bush after bush through it, watching as the wood chips spat out of the end of it into the wheelbarrow. This was a good thing, take something useless, make it into something that would work for you.

As long as she was doing her job, and doing it somewhat well, then they would be alright she thought as she fed another bush through the chipper. Desi looked a little bored, but she was still watching out for her, just like she knew she would. Jack smiled at her and waved a little, to which the Hara just shook her head in annoyance, and she chuckled, looking back at what she was working on. The bushes were almost out, and she had made sure to carefully pull them so she didn't tear anything else up again, especially herself. Her arm was still pretty tender, and she lightly massaged the arm with the huge cut in it underneath the large bandage wrap. "The perils of gardening, I suppose," she muttered, stretching her arms over her head as she took a brief pause in what she was doing. This might take awhile, but it would be okay.

Good things came to those who wait, or whatever the saying went. "Good things come to those who work for them, actually," Jack told Desi with a small nod, looking at her intently. She didn't want the little Hara to just think everything would happen the way she wanted them to without actually working for it. It was definitely an important lesson, and the woman took another look at the plot, surveying for a moment to make sure the bush she was working on was the last one she needed to pull. Any progress was good she figured, and she reached down into her back and took a swig of water, offering it to Desi as well, who simply shook her head. It wasn't like she was working as hard as the woman was, after all. It was a little warm out, but nothing she couldn't handle, and it wasn't like she was being too intense with anything.

"Okay, bushes done, but there are some logs someone stacked against the fence back there. They don't look any good anymore, so I'll toss them through the chipper too if it seems like the thing to do," Jack said, explaining everything she was doing as she did it. It wasn't like she thought Desi would really take the details of all of this to heart, but as long as she came to the understanding that work was good and was what got you what you wanted, then it would all be alright. Jack scratched the back of her neck as she walked over to the logs, glancing back for a moment at Desi to make sure she was still in the clear. When the Hara nodded and gave a thumbs up, the woman chuckled and nodded before taking a good long look at the logs stacked up against the fence, this might be rough.

Jack reached out and lightly touched a few of the logs one at a time before giving a little frown and standing up straight again. "Alright so these are pretty bad, into the chipper they go," she said, walking back over to the equipment. She had made sure the chipper was off before she'd gone over, and now she took the wheelbarrow and wheeled it over to the wood chip pile next to the store itself, dumping it on top of what was already there. Desi watched as she pushed the wheelbarrow back and then on to the logs she had been checking out a few moments earlier. It made sense, if they were starting to crumble a little, it would be easier to wheel them over to the chipper than to try and carry them by hand. The Hara nodded her approval and watched as the woman started to load the old logs into the wheelbarrow, grunting every now and then as her arm twinged.

"Logs go in the wheelbarrow, wheelbarrow gets pushed back to the chipper.... dump the logs, feed them into the chipper, get more wood chips into the wheelbarrow," Jack muttered as she worked, getting the last of the logs loaded and then pushed the wheelbarrow back over to the chipper. Jack sighed a little as she dumped the logs onto the ground and glanced back over at Desi. The Hara shook her head, she hadn't seen anything else moving for awhile, except where things were supposed to move at least. Maybe it wasn't the most thrilling thing to be a part of, but at least she was out and about for awhile, Desi guessed with a little shrug. Jack switched on the wood chipper again and positioned the wheelbarrow where it needed to be. Feeding the logs in one at a time, she watched as they were chopped down fine and spat into the wheelbarrow. It was going well at least.

After all the wood was finished up, Jack turned off the wood chipper and wheeled it back to where she had gotten it from near the store. The wheelbarrow was pushed over and the contents dumped onto the pile again before she tilted it and leaned it up against the building beside the pile. Jack wiped her hands together and nodded happily, heading back over to where she had been working and where Desi was watching from with a little more interest. The woman had a weird thing in her hands, it was big and she pulled a cord a few times before it roared to life. Desi's eyes widened and she clapped her hands over her ears as she watched. The cords that had come out of the end of the tool cut through the taller grass that had grown up in the plot with ease, leaving behind a bunch of cut grass clippings.

It seemed a little out of place, the woman thought, but it was definitely something she had seen before. Sweeping the tool from side to side, not too fast though, she moved from one area to the next until the grass was much more uniform than it had been beforehand. It was really starting to look pretty good she thought, at least it was emptying out pretty well. Smiling, Jack showed the tool to the Hara, who looked on in interest as all of the pieces of it were shown and explained. Apparently it took a bit of magic to fuel it, which made sense, and Desi nodded happily before the woman took it back to the tool shed she had pulled it from. Jack ducked back out with a rake and a couple of burlap bags. It was time to rake it all up and bag it so things looked nicer.

"If you don't rake up the grass clippings, they'll just stay on the grass that's still growing and kill it off after awhile. It's important to think about stuff like that," Jack told Desi as she slowly started raking up the new grass clippings and several bits of old, dead leaves. She wasn't sure if they had come from some of the Nyssa or some actual trees, ones that couldn't move, but it didn't really matter, the idea was the same either way. Desi looked like she understood as she watched what was going on. Jack smiled at her and then finished raking the clumps of grass and leaves into the bags. She should probably make sure every little nook and cranny were taken care of though, it wouldn't do for a bunch more weeds to pop up just because she hadn't done her job right, wasn't that the way to do it anyway?
