The stallion finishes off of his treat quickly, watching Renathan with some serious interest. Renathan wanted to really test him out this time. Whether Renathan liked it or not, and even though he wasn't a pit champion and might not ever be; he was an experienced battler at this point. He knew about when a creature needed to dodge an opponent's move whenever the opponent would strike, he'd seen it before. Thankfully, this training was easier due to the stallion's previous danger sensing training. Renathan continues to work with the stallion; at first he was whistling and then throwing the ball; and then he starting whistling and throwing the ball at the same time; which nearly tripped up the stallion. Eventually, after enough work that day, Renathan started whistling AFTER he had thrown the ball but before it actually hit the stallion; allowing the creature to begin to focus more on the thing that was attacking him and getting away from it instead of just the command. Finally; Renathan was pleased after about an hour of continuous work with this; the stallion's athleticism was great. He gives the stallion a whole pink crisp apple for his trouble; pleased with the work.

Renathan wanted to begin working on the swimming aspect that the stallion had. Sure; he could swim at any time it seemed; he did so naturally. However, he really wanted to teach him to do it on command. Renathan puts the balls away, picking up each one from the grass carefully and dropping them into his his little backpack. He had to think to come up with a command for this... He decides that another whistle would work; and he chooses a two-toned sharp then soft whistle for this command. Renathan leads the stallion over to the small brook, and smiles softly at the stallion as he looks longingly at the water. He didn't get to swim much even though he seemed to love to do it... Perhaps Renathan should buy a pool for him on the estate? Renathan nods to himself, deciding to do this. Well, here goes nothing, they were here to train after all!

Since the stallion at least appeared to be aquatic, or well, maybe amphibious was the correct word? Renathan knew that swimming would be pretty well easy for him. Renathan gives the sharp whistle and then the soft one, and then gently guides the stallion to the water. Once near the water, the stallion effortlessly appears to melt right in, swimming around in a soft circle, with just his eyes and horn above the water. Renathan is happy to watch it. Even though equillion were not typically expected to be found in the water; he was really beautiful, like he belonged there. Renathan watches for a moment; and then he calls the stallion out of the water. He gives the stallion a piece of pink crisp apple for his trouble, and then Renathan watches as he eats the apple. This seemed to be going pretty well, but he wanted to make absolute sure that the command would stick.

The stallion eats his apple and thinks about the command a little bit; he knows that the whistles are commands at this point; but he wasn't exactly sure... He was lead to the water directly afterward, and he loved to swim, so he made the easiest connection; the noise meant to swim; as that was the only thing that happened after it. He was used to Renathan by this point; knew that the general status quo was 'Renathan makes a noise and then makes me do a thing- that means that the noise means I do the thing'. Honestly, it was probably the kind of connection a regular dog could make when being trained, but it would be impressive to Renathan nonetheless if he knew about this. Renathan then makes the two-toned whistle again, sharp and then soft, and the stallion slips down into the water, peddling around gracefully, moreso than Renathan would have expected.

Renathan then calls the stallion out of the water and he pets the stallion, offering him a piece of pink crisp apple as a treat to reward him for his good behavior. The stallion takes his apple piece happily, and then sits down again, stretched out on the grass. Renathan laughs and pets the stallion on his head carefully, and sweetly murmurs to him. This gave him a moment to think; if the stallion could swim and was at home in the water; could he be used as a water mount? The idea was simply amazing; he never thought he'd have an actual water mount! Flying mounts were more common in his kennel, he had basically no aquatic creatures. Renathan waits until the stallion seems pretty rested, and then while planning some future training to do about the water mount thing; he uses the whistling noise; sharp and then soft, to order him into the water.

The stallion quickly moves forward to slip down into the water, he gives a quick swim, obviously enjoying himself. This had to be one of the easiest looking motions Renathan had ever seen in a creature; he moved in the water much more fluidly than even his jibiji moved through the air! He let the stallion swim around for a while, just watching his leisurely movements and the beautiful looks of his mane, complete with shimmering lotus blossoms, float on top of the water in a loose and slick fashion. Renathan then calls the stallion out of the water and gives him a piece of the crisp pink apple. They would have to keep repeating this to make it work quite well. He continues to repeat this process for a while; sending the stallion out into the brook using the distinctive whistle, and then calling him out of the water for a treat. After a while, Renathan was convinced that the stallion would enter the water to this command reliably.

Renathan wanted to use today to get as many of the annoying training bits done as possible; since they had a ton of stuff to work on in the future that would be more difficult. The next thing he wanted to teach was was something he'd only seen the stallion do once; but it had been super cool! Just a little while ago while he was teaching the command for swim, he watched the stallion literally slip into the water and phase into it or something of that nature. He figured that it would be a great evasive ability; either in the water or in the air! All Renathan had to do was to figure out how to get him to do that again, and what kind of command they would use for it. He hoped that it would be just as easy as the other training bits; but he wasn't going to count on it, that was for certain.

Renathan decides that the command for this behavior was going to be a particular wind-like-whistle, that sounded like the wind ripping between trees during the evening. He calls the equillion to slip down into the water. Then he thinks for a moment. Just how was he going to get the equillion to turn into water, or whatever it was that he was actually doing? What he really needed to do was to study the phenomenon a little bit. Whenever Renathan and the stallion were at the Mansion; they swam across the water and the stallion had difficulty; most likely because he was riding him. If he'd 'turned into water' or whatever at that time; Renathan would have sank to the bottom most likely, being pulled down by whatever was hindering the stallion. However, without something on his back; this whole water thing would be really useful for the stallion to dodge things, or at least he thought so.

Renathan pondered on how to get the stallion to do what he needed it to do, in order to even get the training started. He hadn't trained anything like this before; and he only had one other pet previously that could even do something comparable to this. That creature was an easily spooked animal that often slipped into the air simply due to fear of oncoming perceived attacks; so maybe doing the same thing with the stallion would eventually get him to slip into water to get away from it? He sincerely doubted that it would work, however, since the stallion was much, much less spooky than the other creature he had that did this kind of thing. In fact, that other creature was the only reason he recognized this! Renathan watches the equillion play in the water for a moment before pulling another bunch of balls out of the backpack. He'd just have to test this out.

Renathan takes a ball in one hand, and then lines them up in his other arm pressed close against his chest so that he can get to the balls much easier; he planned on rapid-fire throwing them at the equillion to hopefully get it to turn into water. He quickly threw a ball at it; and then another, to get the first two natural dodges out of the way; and then another ball, and another. All rapid fire- one after the other. Finally, the stallion is forced to his last trick. Renathan quickly lines up more ball, as fast as his reflexes will allow him and not giving the stallion any time to recuperate. He then gives the windlike-whistle, enough to get the stallion's attention. It was like he was starting to get to know the stallion just as well as the stallion knew him. He threw three more balls rapid-fire, and watches as the stallion is finally forced to do that amazing thing.

Renathan watches as the stallion seems to phase into something surprising; it wasn't water, and it wasn't much like air. It was more like a... strange shimmering, a fae glamour, or something psychic. Yeah, that must be it; a kind of psychic transfer that forced the body to be part of whatever was around it. That had to be it; with the shimmer and all. That was Renathan's first indication that the creature might not just be acid oriented; but perhaps psychic as well. That should have been frightening enough to him; since those were both of his most glaring weak spots; but luckily the creature was learning to use his powers as fast as Renathan was bonding with him; so that they didn't have to worry about any dangerous fights. Renathan quickly claps, and calls the stallion out of the water for a treat of a crisp pink apple piece.

Now that Renathan had actually gotten the stallion to do what he needed him to do, he could cement the bond between the action and the command that he was using for the action. That in and of itself would allow them to use it in battle; when it was needed most. His goal was to get him to do this even outside of the water eventually! That would be very useful for battle, after all. Renathan watches as the stallion eats the apple, and then he orders him down into the water again. This time; he simply gives the windlike whistle command and then tosses a single ball at the creature. The stallion goes to dodge for a moment naturally; and then thinks better of it. He slips into water just in the knick of time with a bit of a purple sheen and flourish. Renathan is very pleased with this!

Renathan calls the stallion to the water's edge and gives the creature a slice of the pink crisp apple to give him a treat for doing so well. He decided that they needed to focus on this move and the command a little more again; in the water, before trying it outside of the water. Renathan allows him to swim around a little more; and then gives out the whistled command; this time without throwing a ball. He wanted to wean him off of the ball throwing thing as soon as possible! The balls would not be there in battle, after all. The stallion has that flickered sheen across him again; and then he appears to simply melt into the water! What a huge success. Renathan was quite happy with this; but then again the stallion had always been a quick learner with his natural abilities; since he wasn't being trained to perform a fancy unnatural behavior.

Renathan bends down at the edge of the water again and gives the stallion another piece of crisp pink apple by offering it to him on top of a flat palm. The stallion becomes corporeal again and swims up to his hand, taking the apple in his mouth using his lips so as not to accidentally bite Renathan. The water horse was mesmerizing in the brook; shiny and strange looking in the glossy water reflecting the springtime sunshine. He knew that after this they still had other behaviors to train; but he figured they'd only do one more today, if they even could. He didn't know which one though. He thought about this as the stallion eats his treat for his previous behavior. Renathan waits for him to finish his treat, and then calls out the command again; the windlike whistle that would signal to the stallion to slip into the water. He hoped to try it outside of the water, after this.

The stallion hears the command after he finishes his apple piece, and then wills his form to slip into the water like it was breathing; in fact it did feel a lot like breathing a way. If one could breath with their entire skin; that is. It was like his skin was breathing in the water; taking in the surroundings to blend him in; and make him one. He could slip around the rocks as if his body didn't exist; he could wind around the watergrass at the bottom of the brook. It was like nothing could hurt him like this. He can hear Renathan calling him out of the water again, so he swims towards the edge and steps out, forgetting to regain corporeality. This time; his body feels like it 'breathes in' air instead; and then his body seems to formulate a type of mist instead. Renathan stares at him with wide eyes; and he remembers and becomes corporeal again so that he can get the apple from Renathan.
