The stallion nuzzles Renathan's hand and then looks at him with what could only be explained as a quizzical expression. Renathan could have facepalmed; perhaps they'd be making better progress if Renathan had actually planned this? Well, that and the wound that the Stallion had was probably barely even painful, it was so small and even if it had been a venomous snake that would hardly have given the stallion even remote pause. Renathan sits there in the spring sunlight, wondering exactly what he should do because he had no idea where to go from this point. He pointed back down at the Stallion's leg and stated, "You need a bandaid." And then he bent down, as if to nuzzle the leg; but didn't get too close. The stallion looked interested now; and looked down directly at the wound, since Renathan's face was that close to it. Renathan was suddenly glad that he had given the equillion a bath.

"You need a bandaid!" The mammalian reiterated to the equillion, while his face was that low. Renathan saw this as something that might help, he makes a lapping motion at the wound with his own tongue, but doesn't touch it of course. The stallion watches him, and then nuzzles his leg, giving it a natural groom towards the area. Renathan watches for a moment, and then he sees it; The stallion licks the wound, even if accidentally! Renathan gives him a quick piece of pink apple, and that really gets the stallion's attention. He knows by this point that he has done -something- right, even if he doesn't know what it is yet. This is definitely a bit of progress, no matter how slight, in Renathan's book! He watches as the stallion eats his apple piece, and then looks right back up at him expectantly. Renathan definitely had his attention now; all on the training.

The stallion is watching him with both pale blue eyes now, his head held level with Renathan's. Renathan points at his wound, and the stallion's eyes follow his hand, certainly because they've trained quite a bit before, and he knows to pay attention to hands. Then Renathan gives him the command, and the stallion's ears perk up quite a bit; "You need a bandaid." The stallion seems to know that he's heard that before, so he bends down and looks at the wound, and then looks at Renathan expectantly, as if he deserves a treat. Renathan is definitely not impressed. He points at the wound again and states "You need a bandaid." As accusingly as possible. The stallion bends down again, and nuzzles the small pinprick wounds. Renathan waits; and then the stallion looks up. Nothing, of course. The stallion certainly looks confused now; with one ear pointed back and the other forward.

"You need a bandaid." Renathan reiterates, twitching his tails now in excitement. The stallion leans down again towards the wounds, and delivers a few hearty licks. Renathan could not be more pleased! He gives the stallion the small piece of pink apple he has in his hand, and then pets the stallion's muzzle. He's grinning beneath the mask, happy to see the progress finally. They weren't completely over the hill yet, but this was still good. What he really needed was for him to do it enough to staunch a little bit of the bleeding, at least to help a little. Perhaps even to clean the wound. Renathan sat near him, and then waited for him to finish the pink apple piece that he had given him. The stallion completes eating his treat, and then fixes his eyes on Renathan again. Renathan can swear that he can feel the 'cogs' in the stallion's head whirring as he tries to figure this out.

The stallion was almost uncannily intelligent, and it was really strange to Renathan sometimes how he could almost sense it now... Remathan had previously been able to feel his creature's emotions, and this one wasn't like that, at least not yet. However, he was beginning to know the equillion quite well, a bit more than most of his other creatures definitely, and he could tell that the creature was thinking right now; however rudimentary. Renathan decides to capitalize on this, and points at the wound in question yet again. "You need a bandaid." He says, and the equillion bends down and begins licking the wound, he does this about three times and then looks up at Renathan expectantly with those huge blue eyes of his. It occurs to Renathan that the little wound like a teensy bit better now; and any progress at all was certainly worth celebrating!

Renathan treats him with a small piece of apple, and then waits for a moment to continue the training. This time, he does not point. The stallion seems a little surprised to hear him when he gives the command; "You need a bandaid." The stallion looks down to where he knows that there is that slightly annoying wound, and he begins to lick it. He licks it intently this time; and Renathan is shell-shocked when he sees the tiny pinpricks close up completely under the stallion's current ministrations with his tongue. Renathan cannot believe his eyes! He didn't think this would really work; but then again, Shy Guy was a pure, even if he acted like a tainted most of the time. Renathan gave the stallion the entire rest of the pink apple now; since there was no more wound in question to continue. He allows the stallion to get up, and then allows him over into the corral with the rest of his herd. This felt like a good stopping point for today, at least.

Renathan wanted to get as many basics over with before starting any sort of battle training as he possibly could. If he could have he would have started with the mount training first anyway, because that was what meant more to him anyway; but he just didn't have the tack for it yet anyway. He planned on picking it up soon, especially since he had the credits for it; but he had so much to do recently that it was simply out of the question! Going into town would take a while, after all, whereas he could simply work with his equillion while he was out feeding, which was an absolute must. Renathan decided today's training would be short and sweet, as it was threatening to rain. Darn springtime; so finicky. He hops the fence and quickly gives the equillion a petting to greet him. Their budding friendship made everything so much easier when it came to training.

Renathan usually used words in his native language as commands, but since he'd planned on Shy Guy being a trick mount at least a tad bit, he had purposefully decided to make most of the commands really silly, and in common. Renathan asks the stallion to lay down, and then he takes the beast and calls out; "Do a barrel roll!" He figured this was quite funny; since a barrel roll was a real aerial maneuver, but an equillion doing a roll on the ground would just be ineffective and showy. Renathan then gently pushed the stallion to one side, and since the stallion was more compliant with Renathan now, he allowed himself to be pushed over. This was uncomfortable for the creature, so he gets up rather rapidly, and looks at Renathan with marked confusion. Renathan felt like he could just bust over laughing at any second at the sheer hilarity of the situation.

The equillion was simply looking rather concerned about this situation, and Renathan could hardly stifle the roaring chuckle that was building in his chest. He places his hand on his chin and breathes in, desperately trying to reign the laughter in. After a moment, he asked the stallion to lay down again, and then shouted, "Do a barrel roll!" yet again, pushing on the creature's flank and rolling him over onto his back, and then onto his other side. At this point, the stallion scrambled to get up, and looked at Renathan with the most betrayed-looking expression an equine could possibly make. Renathan positively roars with laughter, until he feels like his sides could split, but he gives the stallion a treat anyway, since the beast had, if only accidentally, performed a roll-over correctly. Renathan stands there, trying not to bust into a fit of more chuckles. The stallion ate the piece of apple while eyeing him warily.

Renathan knew that they should keep trying. He was actually hoping to tie this roll into his battle training later, to give him a surprising leg up against opponents. Renathan sits beneath the spring overcast sky and listens for the rain that has yet to come. He really needed to get this done before it begins to get stormy out here. His stallion would undoubtedly run up into the shelter he'd made in the other corral to keep away from the poor whether. Renathan asks the stallion to get on the ground again, and then he began to tell him the command, "Do a barrel roll!" The stallion lays there, looking a bit confused. However, whenever Renathan begins to push over the stallion again the stallion rolls over the rest of the way on it's own, and then stands up. That certainly counted, Renathan decided! He rummages around in his pouch for another piece of apple.

Renathan is able to find another piece of the crisp pink apple. Each day he carefully cut up a single pink apple, and then also brings a whole pink apple in addition, for a final treat typically. The stallion was of course fed outside of the arena, but almost all of his treats came from training. Renathan grasps the piece of pink apple and quickly offers it to the stallion, who takes it gently of course. Renathan was still very amazed at how much more calm and sweet the stallion is now than what he was before. Renathan waits for the stallion to finish his apple with relish before he asks for the stallion to lay down yet again. Then, Renathan gave the command for the rolling over again. "Do a barrel roll!" The stallion rocks back and forth for a moment, and Renathan doesn't give him any help. He wanted to see if he would get this without any help.

The stallion rocks back and forth for a moment and then stops, looking expectantly at Renathan. Renathan sighs, and then gives the command yet again. "Do a Barrel Roll!" Then he takes the stallion and gently touches him on one side; this seemed to get him to understand, as the stallion then rolled over carefully and then stands up, looking at Renathan expectantly yet again. Renathan kind of wanted to break the stallion of the standing portion of his behavior, but that was certainly a technical positive; the stallion was able to perform the roll! Renathan gives him another, half of a typical piece of the crisp pink apple piece. He was thinking for a moment on how to improve this behavior as they were making lots of progress. Renathan stares up at the overcast sky, that was beginning to get quite dark at this point. He is surprised to see that the Stallion was not frightening at it.

Renathan was quiet for a moment as the stallion finished his pink apple piece, and is only brought from his silent reverie when the stallion nose-bumps his shoulder carefully, looking for another piece of apple. Renathan gives him a nuzzle pet carefully, and then asks him to lay down again. Then he grins beneath the mask, and decides that he knows what he's going to do to help him stay down when he rolls. Renathan calls out the command; "Do a Barrel Roll!" He says this loudly, and the stallion is beginning to get it certainly. Shy Guy rolls over onto his side, and then onto his back, and then gets back up on his feet. Renathan quickly retrieves the other half of the pink apple piece from previously. Renathan watched as the stallion chews on the apple piece. He keeps a careful eye on the storm in the sky, which was definitely beginning to get dark.

The clouds above were certainly moving quickly; and the overcast white from earlier seemed to have been replaced by a dark mass of shadowy clouds that were towering and threatening to rain. However, they were close to a breakthrough, so Renathan decides to continue on despite the rapidly worsening weather. Renathan asks the stallion to lay back down and then he pets the stallion for a moment. "Do a barrel roll!" Renathan is sure to back off slightly before this, so that when the stallion began to roll over he would not be accidentally harmed by the stallion's legs as he moves. The stallion moves over to one side and then rolls onto his back, and then onto the other side. He goes to get up; and Renathan quickly moves and pushes the stallion's withers down gently but in a guiding manner. The stallion stays down, and Renathan gives him a large piece of apple.

The stallion eats his piece of pink apple quietly; Renathan can only hear the sound of his teeth crunching the apple. Renathan begins wondering exactly how he was going to get a bridle into the mouth of the stallion that had those extra teeth like that... Renathan decides that he needs to do some research on some other ideas on what he can do to rein-train the stallion. Renathan watches as the stallion finished off the pink apple. Now the idea would be to cement the training in the stallion's mind; well, loosely anyway. Renathan now did not have to ask the stallion to lay back down, and that was quite awesome! The stallion was already laying down, after all. Renathan called out the command, now struggling to be heard over the wind. "Do a barrel roll!" He calls out, and to Renathan's delight, the stallion begins to roll over.
