At that moment however, Emery's stopwatch finally beeped, marking the end of their training session. Moxie hardly seemed to notice it but stopped instantly when Emery did, not wanting to put in a single extra bit of effort. Emery was a little disappointed- she was sure she could go further, but could Moxie? She glanced at him. She had to admit though, he did very well. Even if his true limit lay a bit further ahead, it wasn't always a good idea to break it. "Good job, Moxie." She said, tugging on his leash to lead him out of the pool. He groaned with displeasure as he lifted his legs, no doubt feeling like jelly, onto the pool edge before finally pushing himself out. She was expecting him to situate himself, but instead he simply flopped on the ground, groaning loudly. Well. That was fine too- they still had some time to take a break.

Emery had returned to the training gym with Moxie in tow. He wasn't done entirely with his stamina training- Emery felt like there was still ground to be covered in getting him to last longer in a fight. But he seemed more comfortable with his surroundings now. Last time he twitched his head around at every sound, at every slight movement, giddy with joy at getting to see a new place. By this point though, the shine had worn off. He had already been here once, and Emery knew he'd be here quite a few more times before the job was done. The list of training he still needed done was as long as Emery's arm, and they were starting to run out of time- she had to hustle if she wanted him to be in ship-shape by the time the tournament came close. The doors to the training gym slid open cleanly. Emery 6 Moxie 21.1/21.1 Stamina 1

Emery approached the front desk, the clacking of her cane making a nice rhythm with the click-clack of Moxie's nails on the concrete floor. It didn't take long for her to sign him in- the process had been expedited as of late with all of the entrants for the upcoming tournament. As a result, the worker at the front desk was quick to get Emery through all of the paperwork and waivers, and the computerized woman could see even more papers behind the desk. It looked like she wasn't the only one with a lot of work to do. Soon she was done and she and Moxie were off once more, walking through the halls. Emery could simply repeat the same training as last time, but she felt like that would bore Moxie. He was difficult to keep on topic at the best of times, so doing the exact same thing probably wouldn't end well.

At best, she'd get through maybe half of it before he finally gave up and wandered off to do something else. So she'd have to find something different this time. That shouldn't be too hard though- the training gym had a myriad of different rooms with all sorts of things to do and tools to use. She'd figure something out. The pair walked through the halls, and Emery peeked into each room as she walked by. It was a lot busier than the last time she was here, though it was hard to say if that was because tournament training was picking up, or if it was just because it was now the weekend and thus more people had more free time to train. It was hard to say. There was a huge variety of creatures too, and Emery had to wonder if they were actually all here for the tournament.

In one there was a humanish woman doing dexterity training with a tiny baby repointe. What was even the point of that? Could such a creature even fight? Emery shook her head slightly, clearing it of the thought. It was none of her business. But she was, admittedly, running out of hallway. None of these rooms had been suitable for her purposes, and now she was coming to the exit. Not from the gym entirely, mind you- just the interior portion. Still on the hunt, she pushed open the doors back out into the nippy March air. Moxie made a rustling noise, fanning out his leaves so he could better taste and enjoy the fresh air. Emery made note of that- perhaps he would be able to go for longer if he had access to fresh air and sunlight. Such a thing would make perfect sense for a plant based creature such as a kito.

It was still a bit cold out, but between Emery's jacket and Moxie's fire-based nature, the pair were completely fine with it. Behind the training gym was a massive field with a variety of running tracks on it, perfect for a variety of creatures. One of them included a variety of blocks, stairs, and weights for creatures to wear or climb up on. That drew Emery's attention immediately- especially considering it was open right now. No one else was around, but she figured this was probably a pretty popular area given all of the options that came with it. It was in her best interests to snap it up right away. Emery walked over as quickly as she could manage and dropped her bag down. "There. Claimed." She said to herself and looked around. It was a circular track with a series of blocks and weights gathered up in the middle for her to rearrange.

She nudged a few of them into place with her feet while Moxie took in his surroundings. Once they were all arranged, she examined her work. She woul dbe leading him up and down a series of slopes of increasing grade and height. Each one would be more difficult to climb than the last, followed by a brief flat period before the loop restarted. It would be perfect for Moxie to build up his stamina- each slope wasn't too difficult to get up or down on its own, but repeated over a long period of time he would definitely have to learn how to conserve his energy to make it work. Luckily, she had plenty of encouragement for him. She opened her bag, pulling out a small cooler. Popping it open, it was full of half-frozen offal and meat scraps. They were cheap to buy and more importantly made perfect treats for a hungry kito.

Moxie immediately shoved his head over her shoulder at the sight of them, his large, wet eyes twitching between her face and her hands. Emery put a couple of them into a lined hip pouch and closed the cooler again. "All in due time, Moxie." She said before standing up again. She brushed herself off briefly and then picked up Moxie's lead, walking him over to the "start" of the track, where the ground was still flat. "Follow me, Moxie." She said, gently tugging the leash and giving a command he knew well by now. Obediently, he began to walk, and she started making a loop around the track. When they came to the first slope, Moxie attempted to walk around it, but with a big of tugging in the current direction and a few firm uses of the word "no", he eventually figured out that he was supposed to walk over it.

The first one wasn't so bad, and made a good starting point for this trick. The other two however were a lot higher, and it took Moxie a bit longer to get over them. Not to mention, Emery had to let out his lead some with how high up he was getting, so she couldn't lead him over as accurately. Still, he did as well as she could have hoped and after only a little bit of struggle, they were back to the start of the loop. "Good job, Moxie." Emery said. She unbuttoned her hip pouch and pulled out one of the treats, tossing it into Moxie's mouth before he could take one of her finger's off with his eagerness. As he ate, she tugged on his lead, urging him along for another walk around the track. He followed absentmindedly, one foot after the other, just so long as he got meat for doing so.

The goal of this was to get Moxie to walk the loop as many times as she possibly could- and then more. The steep slopes would help build up his leg muscles, letting him walk and run for further than ever before. If he took to it well, she could even add weights onto his back and have him carry those along as well. For now though, she was just getting him used to walking the loop. He was a lot more sure of himself this time now that he had a bit of experience under his metaphorical belt, and didn't slip nearly as much on the slopes. By the time they got back to the start of the track, he was already eagerly drooling in anticipation of his treat. Not wanting to keep him for long, Emery tossed it to him before commanding him to follow her once more.

The next loop was even smoother, and Moxie didn't hesitate at all before going up and down the slopes, making his way around with ease. Emery was quick to toss him another treat before moving on for the next round. They went around like this plenty of times, enough to make Emery slightly dizzy. Perhaps she should have chosen a longer track. She couldn't help but notice that Moxie wasn't taking nearly as long to tire as the last time she trained him like this. Perhaps it was because he was walking through air and not through water this time, but she had the feeling it was really because he simply had better stamina than last time- that her training had been working. It made her a little proud to think about, though it did mean that her own legs were getting quite the workout in turn. Just a few more rounds, she thought to herself.

Finally, it looked like Moxie was starting to slow. For other trainers perhaps this would be an indication that she should stop, but Emery instead took it as an opportunity to turn up the heat. She led him back into the center of the clearing for a moment, tucking his lead under her (pretty heavy) bag so he wouldn't feel the urge to wander off. Then, she picked up some of the weights scattered around the center of the track. They were glued to all sorts of adjustable straps, allowing them to be attached to any size or shape of creature to weigh them down. They'd work perfectly for Emery's purposes. Luckily for her, Moxie was pretty easy going and she was able to strap the weights on him with little fuss on his part- though she did admittedly need to distract him with treats at some points in the process.

With getting Moxie dressed up out of the way, Emery got back to leading him up and down the slopes. The occasus kito seemed uncomfortable with the weights at first- he wasn't used to wearing anything more restrictive than his collar. Even then, it took Emery ages to get him used to that, and he had no formal training in it. Emery had to give him quite a few firm "nos" before he finally stopped trying to chew on them and returned to walking, though he did kick out a leg every so often in an attempt to relieve the discomfort. He moved at a slower pace than before, partially because he was still getting used to having things strapped to him, and partially because the weights were, well, heavy. That was fine by Emery however. To her, it didn't matter how slow he went so long as he did not stop.

And stop he didn't, though he did come close a couple times. It took some effort for Moxie to rebalance himself to account for the new weights. He kept careful track of every footstep up the slopes to make sure he didn't trip or slide down on one side (risking falling over as a result). Emery could tell it was difficult for him. If he was slightly tired before, he was definitely tired now, as the weights made every step three times as more difficult to take. But that was the point- no pain, no gain as they said, and Emery wanted to get him into top form. She kept leading him around, and soon found that she had to egg him on with additional treats. That was fine- she had brought plenty- but it was a sign that Moxie was starting to reach his limit. Well, she wasn't about to let him give up now.

"Come on Moxie. More." She ordered, tugging him along. He gave a beleaguered squeal, but continued walking, one thumping footstep after another. She baited him along with more meat, but every piece seemed less effective than the last. She couldn't even count how many loops they had done overall now, only that they had been here for at least an hour by this point. Emery's legs were getting sore as well, but at least she had an excuse with how much was bolted onto them. Well... Moxie also technically had things tied onto him, so she supposed they were even in that regard. Still, she wasn't going to give up until the timer she had set went off. She also didn't dare check the inside of her jacket for it- she didn't think she'd be able to last much longer if she saw she still had half an hour left on the clock.
