Three days later she is back to the gym with Sev handling the paperwork for another session at the gym, still feeling her muscles ache from the work out they did previously, and no doubt Sev feels the same way when it comes to the muscles in his abdomen the most, but she knows that they shouldn’t take too long of a rest. The tournament’s end date for application is nearly there, and she still has so much work to do with getting Sev ready. For now, she has already wrapped up the necessary parts for his protection, the scuff marks at the wraps where his abdomen rests on the ground, or gets dragged when he isn’t able to keep it up while crawling in a fast pace shows that it is definitely helping him in not getting chafe wounds, or at least nothing worse than a bit sensitive skin. “This should be all.” She sighs in satisfaction after having written in the details that are needed and handing it back to the receptionist. Hopefully writing down these details will come automatically after a while of coming to the gym, but as it is, it still takes a few minutes to write everything down while Sev is waiting patiently behind her. Looking at the area in a more inquisitive manner compared to last time as he is clearly turning his head to look around in the room. Stamina 1/14 Sev Lv 80.0, Ly 27.0 Twilight 1.5

She wasn’t quite certain what made Sev interested in the room itself, the plants that decorate the area and give it a slight homey feeling? The chairs and low tables with magazines near the walls furthest from the doors and close to the windows showing the outside? The large carton sign that shows in different pictures Vulticus, Izers, and Seryn that show how hard they are working out and small bits of information on what they are doing? Its likely the pictures that would attract Sev’s attention if it’s the case with the latter.
Walking a few steps closer to Sev, she slowly strokes him behind the antennae for a few seconds, feeling him shift away from her hand as he gives a short trill when his gaze turns to her, she gives him a small smile before she then heads to the one wall showing the schematic of the building. Sev’s multiple footsteps heard quite clearly on the laminated floor as he follows her. She still isn’t quite where everything is located, and while she did use the track circuit last time, she hopes there might be something inside the building that would make it easier for him to crawl. She knows she could just let him fly for a long while, but as she doesn’t have much free credit points on the gym pass itself to buy items that could be helpful even more, it might just be that it would then take Sev three times the amount of time or more to feel some result in building up his endurance.

Checking on the schematic the rooms, she definitely remembers one of them, the one that you could control the temperatures are right there, marked quite clearly on the map, the same room she had been trying to raise Rayak’s resistance at dealing with the either too hot or cold rooms. Smirking, she checks the map further, stopping at one particular room and its short description on what is in it. “Wait a minute...” She facepalms. “I’m an idiot, I forgot the treadmills! They have one in the facility as well for your body size.” She murmurs as she looks at Sev and points at the map, sending an image through the link on what a treadmill is when Sev didn’t look like he understood her words, which she realizes a second later is the case as she hadn’t send her words through the link. Recertifying that by repeating that in her mind towards him, she sees him process that for a second, tilting his head to the side as wonders about it. ‘Will be easier?’ She hears him say inside her mind, meaning the jogging and him crawling as fast as possible after him. ‘I think so. Or at least it will make it much easier for me to keep your abdomen up as you do it.’ She send back to him, eyeing the schematic again to see which paths they need to take.

“Seems easy enough to remember.” She murmurs, following the lines that leads towards the room with treadmills, there even was a small notation that there are large doors from the outside you could enter with a companion the equivalent of a Thundergug in size, but the weight limits make it that anything above one thousand five hundred couldn’t use them. She wasn’t too certain, but that wouldn’t make a Thundergug actually too heavy for them? They certainly look like the type that would be too heavy, but eyeing Sev as he starts preening his antennae, she doubts his weight would even come close to it. As big as he is, he likely doesn’t even weight even half of that. ‘Alright Sev, let’s go.’ She calls out to him, smiling when he stops preening and looks more into her direction. “Come, follow.” She calls out as she starts leading him outside, making sure to close the door when he went through it too.
‘Don’t start flying Sev, try to keep your abdomen up like we did last time. It might be best to just start training now while heading to the machinery we need for the rest of your workout.’ She comments towards him inside her mind, already started to take a couple steps back to be behind him and hold his stinger at an angle that makes it not all his weight rests on her arm and back as she lets him lean his weight on her to make crawling easier for him with a lot less risk of scraping his chitin on the ground. Even with his lower half being wrapped up for protection, the risk of it is still there. ‘Flying more fun…’ She hears him say towards her, antennae pressed only for a moment to the back of his head. ‘It would be yes.’ She couldn’t help but agree. ‘But flying is hardly difficult for you. I don’t have the right equipment with me to make that part become more a test of endurance for you, so this is the best alternative for you.’ She waited a few seconds to see if he wanted to talk further, but when he didn’t, she left it at that.

Directing him to where the room with treadmills is didn’t feel too difficult, its just remembering what she saw on the schematic that is the part that felt harder to her, even though with going towards it from the outside should be easier since there is a whole lot less garage doors to open compared to what she saw on the schematic that would happen should she have stayed and gone through the large hallway. She had to ask one staff member when she saw them walking close by if she went in the right direction for the treadmills, and getting to hear that yes, she is going the right direction plus upon further questioning she gets to hear that there is even a machine outside that would make it possible to know what a creature’s weight is in order to see if its possible to even use the machines inside the room is certainly good news to her.
Thanking the employer who now that she thinks about it, does look a little familiar, but more in a passing glance kind of way. She directs Sev again, now surer in where to go, and glad that after perhaps six or eight minutes later they finally arrive to the right part of the gym. Having only needing to remind Sev to keep his abdomen up six times when too much of his weight was starting to lean on her. She didn’t doubt for a second that his muscles there still twinge in pain occasionally, and that this new work out will only make it ache more in the end. This could probably count as a warm up for him right now with just trying to move his body this way. Still, now that they are here, she can actually see the machine the employer mentioned that could weight a creature. ‘Okay, can you stand in here for a minute Sev? It won’t take long.’
She directs Sev to stay inside the white lines of the large cement plate when she lets go of his stinger, heading to the machine jutting a little before the white lines and stops just waist height of her. Below a grey screen, it only had three buttons on it. A red one on the left side that is likely used to turn it on, and three grey ones on the right that are placed on top of each other in a vertical line. Trilling first short then one long one, grabs her attention as she looks at Sev inspecting the cement he is standing on. Mandible opening and trying to scrape with his teeth at the cement out of curiosity. “No Sev! Don’t!” She warns him quickly, making him look up and cocking his head to the side as if he doesn’t know that what he is doing is just dumb. Pressing the red button to turn the machine on. She is quick to see that the other three buttons seems like they can be used for directing it to different species to get a more accurate reading then the standard one? She wasn’t too sure of that one, but the weight of Sev that she got to see in big bold numbers at least announced him to definitely be within the limits of the machines she wants to use and have him exercise on. “Alright!” She cheers, glad that this will work out, pressing the red button she shuts it off.

Pressing the large button near the garage doors makes her grin, she was right that this would open it when there wasn’t anything else visible about the doors that could open it, they automatically roll upwards with a creaking sound that makes her glance towards Sev just to see what his reaction is to the new sound. He certainly tilts his head to the side while one antennae twitches in its direction, but when the door opens more he eyes the contraption where the door just gets rolled up, still a little curious, though she doubts he is seeing much of it as most of the contraption’s inner workings happens inside the building.
She starts walking inside the building when it opened enough for her to get, ducking down only a little as she wasn’t in the mood to wait for it to entirely become open. “Follow Sev.” She says in a soft tone when she didn’t hear him scurrying behind her. Sev still eyes how the door goes up, but when hearing her voice and what she is actually saying, he crawls inside, flinching slightly when the doors go down again after she pressed a button on the inside. Patting him to reassure him that everything is fine, she surveys her surroundings. A few people with their companion’s seem to be working on different sizes of treadmills, there is even a small one-way track that goes from one corner of the room to the other that a person with a Enileaf is working on it.

But what interested her the most, is one of the larger treadmill’s that stand empty of any people and their companions, it’s in just the right size for her Vespa. ‘C’mon Sev, I think I see one we can use.’ She comments inside her mind towards as she starts waking closer to the machine, glancing behind her to make sure Sev is crawling after her. He seems to hesitate only for a few moments as he glances around at everything that is going on around him before he does it. The place feels huge when everyone is working here with their smaller companions, but she’d imagine that if there actually are a few creatures the size of Thundergug’s here, it might start to feel a just a tad cramped, but she estimates its almost twice the height of two adult Gug’s.
‘Go here?’ She hears Sev say as she motions him to step on the treadmill, its for Sev’s size quite comfortable in wide, at least two Vespa could stand on it side by side with just a few inches of space left. Handlebars at the side and perhaps it could be called the front of the machine where its possible to a leash or rope on it, so a creature wouldn’t be able to back out from it, and there is a contraption at the sides where she can with a push of the button have extra railing be added in it to ensure a creature isn’t going to walk or jog to the side and come off the treadmill that way. A machine with a small screen and a few buttons is at the back, just on the right side of the treadmill. ‘Yes.’ She nods to Sev, motion him on it, and seeing his bottom half resting on the platform when he did so, adds quickly. ‘Keep it lifted up Sev, give me a moment and I’ll help you for a bit, just need to adjust the speed when it’s turned on. Start moving forwards when it does so.’ Taking the backpack off her that she had brought along for small breaks like last time and placing it out of the way, she hopes he’ll understand most of what she says as she starts turning the machine on.
The wavering trill he lets out isn’t something she heard before as he fidgets, swaying slightly on his feet in what might be a nervous tick of his. She slowly turns the speed up every ten seconds when she finds the right buttons for speed, and... Is that one to rise the platform to go uphill? ‘Go Sev! You can do it!’ She cheers him on mentally as he starts to crawl, leaving the button alone for that option, she rises the speed to what she thinks they were jogging previously and adds a timer of five minutes for now. Heading to the back of the treadmill, she is quick to push his bottom half up again when she sees him flagging in keeping it raised as he crawls on the treadmill’s belt. He might be a little too close at the back of the treadmill, but when it comes to lifting up his abdomen, this is perhaps the best way for them to do it, short of tying up part of his body at the sidebars she supposes.

While one part of her is glad that she isn’t jogging with him, perhaps a selfish little part, she can also see that this treadmill would definitely push him much more then she would be able to. His speed is much more consistent as he crawls on the belt while she helps keep his abdomen up, and have him feel less strain and ache there. She certainly had trouble keeping his speed consistent due to her own struggles with keeping up, she is no athlete after all. ‘C’mon Sev! Just a minute or two more!’ She couldn’t see the countdown of the timer she had added to their option’s, but it shouldn’t be long now. Grunting a little when she can tell Sev is leaning a bit too much on her, she tsks at him in reprimand for it, she can’t let him do such a thing too much, or else it would influence his endurance. As it is though, aside from the trouble of keeping his lower half up, he doesn’t seem to have that struggle as much when it comes to his movement.

He might have been nervous the first minute on the treadmill, what with it being something new and unusual, but once he starts getting the hang of it his movement looks far more fluent. The beeping of the machine, and the slower going speed on the belt announced the end of the first session as it starts to stop. She only let’s go of Sev’s stinger when it fully stops then walks to the side, glancing at him. Sev looks at her curiously as well. His antennae twitching in her direction. He didn’t look too tired, not compared to the first time they did the circuit together, so she can definitely see a small bit of improvement, but only time will tell how much. ‘Okay Sev, a small water and food break, then back on the belt.’ She says softly to him as she allows him to crawl off the treadmill she heads to her backpack, setting things up quickly for him. She hopes no one is going to complain about her companion eating here, even when she has it all placed inside some metal bowls, since its inside the building, but looking around she does see one or two people giving treats to their companion when they seem to keep up quite well.

While Sev eats for the moment she checks the machine, trying to see what the maximum time could be and if there are pre-programed courses in it for speed he would be able to handle. “Only till the second program huh?” She muses when she finds an option to get a more detailed description on the screen. twenty miles per hour at its max with different levels of speed below it to variate with. The third one and every level above it, pushes it up by ten more. And from what she remembers, fifteen is the maximum speed that they can handle on the ground, but that is actually without help. ‘Sev, are you done?’ She asks him softly in her mind towards him when his food bowl is empty, the last bits of meat getting licked out of it with a curious looking tongue. Looking up at her, Antennae twitching in the direction of the treadmill, he lets out a short trill as he crawls away from the dishes and thankfully to the spot on the belt she points at. Setting up the timer to seven minutes now, she slowly turns up the speed again, He definitely needs it when it takes a second for him to respond to the belt moving. He almost falls off it when he didn’t start crawling right away.

“C’mon Sev, pick up the speed!” She calls out to him as she sees his wings twitch in what might be irritation? At least he isn’t flying off it, like she suspects he would want to do. Keeping up his abdomen as he crawls, she repeats herself again as she increases the speed to the point it is seventeen miles an hour. The timer is already running for when it shuts off, so she moves to get behind him, but doesn’t stand directly by his stinger though. It’s sharp enough to skewer her if he wants to should something go wrong and he’d get launched backwards. ‘Okay, grabbing your stinger Sev, lean a little bit on me, yeah?’ She says to him, trying not to surprise him as she carefully holds his stinger and lifts him up as she starts to see him struggle, antennae pressed to the back of his head, wings fluttering just a little as she can tell he wants to fly more than crawl to do this exercise. His weight starts leaning more on her arms when she does that, but he doesn’t have his full weight on her for now. She knows with previous attempt though, that he does tend to slip at some point as his muscles start to strain and he just wants to rest. She gets that, but, when that happens, it isn’t exactly handy when he needs to keep himself at a certain pace without having his behind get dragged to the ground and injure himself.

‘Just a bit longer Sev!’ She encourages him, he isn’t hesitating at all with every step he takes on the belt, and while it takes a minute or less to have him crawl smoothly as he gets used to the pace, with her holding him up just enough so that he can focus on his leg work. She doesn’t get the notion that this will challenge him in the long run, not like with the circuit they did and the pace varieties because she can’t hold that tempo quite as well as Sev can with his multiple legs. “I guess the next one will be with the second program.” She murmurs as she lifts him up just a bit more when she feels his body dip down and have his weight lean more against her.
The latter is definitely making for him his leg movements smoother as he would hardly need to focus on his abdomen, and certainly makes it easier for him to keep up with the higher speed. When after a couple more minutes the machine beeps and the belt slows down, she expected Sev to just crawl off as she lets go of his stinger while she steps aside lets him take a few sips from his water bowl. But Sev seems to have other ideas, as he starts fluttering with his wings then quickly takes off. “Hey! Whoa! Don’t Sev! No!” She calls out sharply, as he rises up quickly, startling at her words he lands again after only reaching three feet in the air. Probably startling more creatures then just Sev, but she isn’t paying attention to her surroundings. Focusing solely on Sev. ‘Seriously Sev, you got legs and I am trying to build up your muscles more with them.’ She scolds him, narrowing her eyes as she thinks with how he displays his body movements, he might actually look contrite. But its hard to tell for certain.

“Just go drink Sev.” She sighs while making a motion with her hand to wave him in that direction, considering he is used at least a little on how things go, she didn’t want to fill his other bowl with meat yet, they hardly passed the twenty minutes of running, and she intends to go quite a bit longer for him to run and exercise. His stamina could really use a boost in how long he would be able to fight later on, their species isn’t exactly known for their long endurance when it comes to fighting. Turning her attention to the machine when Sev starts to head in the direction of the bowls, she tries to figure out which program would be best to do for Sev. Certainly the second program with its speed being at maximum a twenty, but further investigation shows her that it actually is possible to have three variation in it, even one with climbing.
“Alright, the first option would be best, we could go with the third later on.” She murmurs, keeping the screen on the option she is going for first so she only needs to press one time. “C’mon Sev, back on the belt.” She calls out to him as he lifts his head up from the bowl of water, tilting his head slightly sideways. She points at the belt of the treadmill, he’s got a long enough break for now in her opinion, they really need to continue.
Giving a short trill Sev starts to move and walk up to the treadmill, climbing on it to be at the middle of the belt, antennae pressed more backwards than forwards. “Okay, get ready Sev.” She calls out, he certainly didn’t look like he is interested in this activity with the way his antennae are positioned. Still, she presses the button to get the belt of the machine moving, and heads quickly to Sev’s behind. Helping him lift up his abdomen as he starts crawling first at a slow pace that quickly increases. She can tell this surprises him, as she wasn’t at the machines side to increase the speed manually. It leaves him scrambling almost as he tries to adjust and not trip over his own legs, the speed variates every minute, and come to think of it… What did she put on the timer again?!

From low to high speed, then low again, even the higher speed variates. She’s certain they even reached the peak of twenty miles an hour a few times when she almost has to push him back on the belt as he tries to keep up. Trilling in alarm at the sudden speed almost every time when he didn’t expect it, his antennae keep twitching as he adjusts his speed as much as possible. She starts feeling tired in what must be ten minutes or more of holding him in the correct position, and make adjustments whenever his abdomen dips down from the strain, she can’t imagine right now what he must be feeling, but she gathers that by the end of it tired would probably be one of the words to describe him tonight. “C’mon Sev, you can do it! It’s just going to take a little while longer!” She calls out to him, she didn’t want to be a liar and say that it is over soon. She forgot what she put on the timer, but she hopes it isn’t forty-five minutes, she doesn’t think either of them would be able to keep it up. Not when the belt speeds up to its maximum again, and Sev trills in alarm for a second as he adjusts his legs to match the speed, and she has to push him forwards so that he stays on the belt. Even if she is more at his side then right at his back to prevent being skewered by the stinger she is holding on to and she isn’t jogging right next to him, it still feels like a workout when sweat is slowly dripping down her back.
The beep of the machine as it starts slowing down the belt of the treadmill feels like music as she helps Sev slowly lower his abdomen when it completely stops. Sev, she wasn’t certain if she is seeing it correctly, but he seems to contract him abdomen quite a bit. Almost like he is heaving for air. ‘Sev, are you okay?’ She asks hesitantly as she pets his back, avoiding his wings, and steps away only long enough to see what the timer’s time actually ended up being. Twenty-five minutes… That’s... She eyes Sev as he tiredly makes his way to the water bowl. They went at it a lot longer than she thought they would. ‘Am ok..’ She hears a rather grumpy voice inside her mind, lips twitching slightly upwards, she heads to her bag. Taking out some pre-cut meat to place in the empty bowl. He definitely deserves. A longer break as well. She pets him absentmindedly as she readies the food bowl, and adds more water in the other one when it starts getting low.
Ten minutes later when Sev looks to be as rested as possible for now, and with a different program to start with, she makes certain to set the time for fifteen minutes and have them continue on the treadmill. She wants to at least do it a couple of times, and she’s certainly going to try and extend it far past what she and Sev did last time. The climbing program is sure to be interesting, even if Sev might hate her just a bit for it in the end.

It has been a few days again before she wanted to head to the gym with Sev, making sure he is actually well rested. He had been complaining of cramps in his abdomen and legs from the latest work out she had him do, and while a success in how much longer he was able to last compared to last time. She can’t deny that she might have been a bit over eager with getting him battle ready, thus the resting period so his muscles could heal and he’d be a bit more willing to actually go back with her. He still looks reluctant to be in the receiving room with her as she eyes the schematic, moving his head in a way that makes her think he is nervous as he waits on her what to do, wings vibrating slightly as he presses them against his body that just adds to her assumption on him being nervous to be back here. Which is something she hopes will stop being a problem soon, she just needs to figure out with the map where exactly the rooms are located to train a companion’s dexterity better. She brought the rather light weighted poles along under her arm, and she still needs to wrap his body, but that should be easy. She at least had all the paperwork done before checking out the map.
