Sure enough she could hear the snapping of tiny jaws pursuing her fingers as she drew them away from both sarane hatchlings. In spite of how off-putting they should be when they can be such gods-awful little terrors, there's essentially no baby that she didn't find lovable. The sarane used to be captivating because of how different the wee lizards were from anything else she'd interacted with. It's getting to the point where strangely, it felt like the pseudo-dragon hatchlings were the only young critters she'd had in quite some time. Huh. It felt hard to grow tired of them, but perhaps she ought to take some time with some of her pets that weren't nearly... as much like a sarane. Satisfied they were awake, Lethalia rose to her hooves and gave their leashes a ginger tug - were they ready now? "How 'bout it, girls?"Before being able to respond to any further prompting, both were too transfixed about the thing looped around their necks to make any progression in walking forward. Good gods, she doesn't want to carry them for at least a little while! Tiny claws scrabbled at the leather cords holding them back; one day those claws would break leather like nothing. For today, it was sufficient to keep them contained. Ardith lv|3 ly|3 Tariq lv|3 ly|3 mining|15

It took them some time to 'get over' the newest discovery, and the satyr figures they've got to learn the hen attitude from somewhere. More than likely, it started when they were little! If only she could remember more about how Esti was as a baby and that would give her some insight about the temperament of these two when they grew up. They'll get there soon enough - and both are likely to hit a startling growth spurt in short enough time, if the last ones were indication enough. She'd know what they matured into sooner than she was hoping, chances were. "Now," Lethalia said, gingerly picking up a hoof and positioning it behind the hens. Time to get things moving! "Lessgo!" A gentle push from the broadside of her hoof, scooting one hatchling a foot or two further on the dirt path, and swinging back for the second. Each movement brought the hens to squealing and squalling in rage, snapping at the giant trying to move them best they could. For once Lethalia had an advantage on her side with these two; there was no way they were biting through the heavy feathering on her legs, nor were they going to bother her hoof in the least. mining|16

They weren't going to be happy babies if this was the mode of transport forward they chose. Their loss since Lethalia was beginning to have a great time of it. She wasn't hurting the hatchlings at all, scooting them closer to the intended cave entrance manually. The henbabies tumbled over themselves to express their displeasure, winding on their backs and having all sets of claws splayed to grapple with the oncoming hoof. There was a limited window of time she would let the younglings play with her, tackle her legs and use claws - it was a great way to bond with the little ones. Especially ones like these two, who took a small amount of being pushed around - they seemed to be enjoying it, like a cat who was playing with it's tail puffed up and yet still comes back for more/ There was only such an amount of time it was safe to do so. People who let young equines 'play' would often get pushy adults who had no idea on how to mind their fully grown mass, or respect their owner. Sarane could only get worse, and they'd all get some learning about no bites or claws sooner or later. mining|17

For now the play was helpful, and hatchlings could begin to understand that hurting her would result in not being able to play anymore. Besides, it was getting these two moving along nicely! The satyr has to make sure to not step on any tiny toes, but the hens chase her ankles on their own accord. There was no need to scoot them forward anymore since she'd gotten them riled up enough to pursue her while walking. Well, especially since they both decided to stop just defending with claws and get up to chase her legs instead of allowing themselves to be bushed around. It really only hurt when they'd grab a chunk of fur and hold on, but they're easily enough shaken off at this age. It was a far easier to force them into making some progress, and Lethalia was able to walk them up to the yawning cavern with a fair amount of ease... even if it might have resulted in a few lost tufts of fur. Preferable to dragging them down here - or worse, losing them somewhere. Double checking the map, this seems like the right location, so she can't complain too much even with two sarane hatchings dangling off her ankles. mining|18

Their game in chasing her fluffy hooves as something more interesting looms ahead. It was a lot less interesting to stay attached to the same moving target when there was a big something in front of them to investigate instead! Lethalia had to give the small hens credit when they didn't hesitate to cross the jagged entrance of stalagmites, squirming around the toothlike protrusions. It was great they were still too small to see the entrance for a wicked maw it appeared to those who were a little taller! Curious to see where their boldness came from. Was it more because they were a different quality of hen than the ones with small wings, and these she-devils were all the braver for it? Or it could be just as likely their lineage, which means both of them ought to be able to see in the dark. It may be a little bit of both that brings the hatchlings stumbling into the cavern entrance with quite little fuss, and it's not something that the woman can find complaint about. Her ankles were freed, and they were making some steady progress into their intended cavern! Probably quite a lot of it to go, but it was nice to feel like she had a specific purpose in being here. mining|19

It would be somewhat nice to go on a mining trip that wasn't focused on picking away at the stone walls. That was fine and all, but Lethalia just found herself tiring of it more often than not. There could only be so much interest she could generate in herself over rocks, even if they're occasionally pretty rocks. Most of the time she ended up losing track of time in the caves just exploring or playing with the creatures she brought along for company, seeming to defeat the purpose of being down here in the first place. Why go all the way out to the caves to do the same things she could do out in the outskirts of the city, in the sunlight instead? Perhaps coming down here with the agenda of mining up gemstones bored her too much, because this time around she's pretty sure she can manage to pick away at the caverns as she passes by. Odd how now it doesn't seem so awful, if she's not relocating to the caves only to essentially stare at a bunch of rocks and darkness. She still doesn't love the circle of her flashlight shining ahead would get burnt into her eyes by the end of the trip. Ardith lv|4 ly|4Tariq lv|4 ly|4 mining|20
