As expected, Foggy pulled and strained against the leash the entire way there and the satyr kind of just... let her. She would need to learn to walk more politely on a leash, likely even today. But there was no point in fighting it on the walk over, and she even slowed down at her incessant tugging after some time walking. It was a small lesson on it's own, for her to see her pulling didn't get her anywhere further. At times, it would set her back much further than the pup would have liked. If she yanked too aggressively to try and get somewhere, the satyr would just... stop. And wait. Whatever Foggy was so desperate to see would be stuck just out of reach, driving the poor kid nuts while she tried to figure it out. As soon as her little rear hit the pavement for any reason, the satyr would release the pressure and let her free. Hopefully she was figuring the 'trigger' out, but Lethalia figured she'd likely need more guidance for it. February|3 heel|1

Had it really been a year since she'd seen the mansion in this phase? Tall, perfectly shaped and tended bushes of lavender roses bordered the mansion grounds once more, allowing little else within to be discerned from between their leaves. The last time she'd been here, Meade was little and simply indulging in the flowers... and now she was a fully grown right pain in the satyr's behind. Being a more agreeable creature, there was hope yet that Foggy would get older with more grace than a sarane coming of age. That was kind of a houluh's 'thing' after all, growing into order. Before she could even think to open the gate, Foggy was already making her way to try and squeeze between the iron bars. She knew she could! As if to prove houluh didn't always age gracefully, the pup was completely oblivious to any growing she'd been doing that might prevent her from jamming herself between fences. Her ears laid flat to get her head through, and her shoulders were a little tricky - she could hear her owner berating her in the background now, familiar hollers of "Gods damn it - Foggy, no! - but she could put one leg ahead of the other to narrow them. After that should be no proble- February|4 no|4

That was funny, her chest didn't fit. Squirming with her hind legs and trying to push forward, she found the iron bars caged around either side of her. Letting out a whimper, her back paws instead worked at getting a purchase to instead try and retreat, yank herself backwards and get out of here. Her bony elbows caught on the way, and there seemed like there wasn't much of a way she could figure this out herself. So - she threw back her head and howled, the pitiful song of a puppy that wavered and turned into whining halfway through. "Foggy, d'you need help, dear?" Lethalia asked, though she'd never stepped away from the troublemaker. That little tail started wagging, hopefully. "Y'lucky the mansion doesn't eatcha up, bein' over there," she continued to joke, kneeling down and stroking Foggy's back as she assessed what the pup got herself into. As upset as the satyr was with herself for not being quite fast enough to prevent her from delving in, there was a chance this would be a lesson for the pup in the future. To the houluh's credit, she was pretty calm for being in a tight spot where not a lot of younger critters would be able to handle it. "Okay, be good fo' second..." Foggy lv|9 ly|18 February|5

Easier said with a wiggly puppy than managed. Lethalia reached in through the bars, gently pushing back on the pup's head to get her to back up. Picking up one leg and flexing her elbow up and over the horizontal bar, she had to do her best to make Foggy keep the first paw down lest they have to deal with the same problem again. Once her elbows were out of the way, it was fairly easy to encourage the pup's head through again with a careful hand guiding her out. The pup yelped as her ridiculously long ears caught on the bars on her way out, but it was forgotten soon enough in lieu of realizing she'd escaped. Tail started wagging again as she sidled up to the kneeling satyr, Foggy submissively licking her lips and sigh-whining at her. See, wasn't the lady just glad she was back?! She couldn't be mad! "I see'ya," she confirmed, scratching the 'traumatized' pup's ear as she was leaning up against her legs. That was why she brought this girl here instead of Maple. Foggy was proving to be pretty unflappable, and even if getting stuck was her own fault, her reaction likely meant she could handle if the mansion was the one who decided to make things more interesting for them. It also meant she'd likely also be able to deal with other trials the life Lethalia led would offer up to the pup. Groveling was short lived, and Foggy was soon looking to the very fence that trapped her. "Hey, c'mon," Lethalia called with a short tug to her leash. If she had a hesitation about leaving the gate, it all but dissolved when the satyr bounced a ball off the pavement and snatched it up on the upswing. As if it were the means of summoning puppies, Foggy came right to her side at that. "Good!" she said, beginning to inch away towards the gate. "Follow me, girlie," she directed further, tacking on the less familiar command when she had a houluh on her heels anyway. February|7 follow|4

The gate was within sight, but Foggy could prove a challenge to capture her attention for even that long. Drifting back over to the fence line, the pup couldn't help but stick a contemplative muzzle between the bars. Likely the thick rosebushes would've stopped her anyway, but a girl had to try. "Foggy, follow," Lethalia reminded her as the pup veered off. It took little more than the hollow resonance of the ball striking the concrete to summon up the girl again. Once the gate was in sight, Foggy was really good at forgetting her previous 'lessons' getting herself wedged into things and dropped them in an instant to instead stick her nose through the gate's slats. She seemed to know she had to wait for the human to open this one since she couldn't scamper through the bars like at the farm, but there was a nonzero chance she'd give it a try anyway. "Foggy, no," Lethalia told her again, unable to help the direction being through a sigh. While she wasn't mindful enough yet to keep herself out of trouble, Foggy recognized the 'in trouble' word and the hand coming to push her snout out of place it didn't belong. She cried about it, but backed out of the gate since she'd be given little other choice. Once out of the original place she'd picked, the pup began to sniff at the edges of where it opened at to see if she couldn't figure it out for herself. "No; jus' chill for a minute, yeah?" the satyr prompted, Foggy's head jerking away at the 'bad word'. What did she do now?! The satyr rubbed her temple, steeling herself for the rest of the day. Foggy would be a great dog once given the opportunity to grow up some, she just had a hunch... they just had to get through this stage first. February|9 no|5 no training accepted

"Y'just gonna sit here, patiently," Lethalia informed her, scooping the pup up. Foggy was deposited a few feet away, starting her out in a good 'sit'. "See? Good si-" the satyr tried encouraging, praise dying on her tongue as Foggy's rear end popped right back up. A hand on the pup's chest to stop her from darting off, the other gently urged her butt back down. "Good sit, yay!" Leth managed, while holding the unhappy houluh in position. This wasn't quite the way she'd like to teach a sit, but maybe it'd work out. It was just that waiting appeared to be one of the biggest punishments for this pup; it'd be a little while before she was grown up enough to potentially grow out of it. That had to be fine; it wasn't as if Lethalia's life was comprised of much more than the animals anyway. What else did she have, if not time to dote on them? Foggy lv|10 ly|20 February|10 sit|1

"Okay, keep sittin'," the pup was instructed, with a more specific "Stay," with a finger pointing towards the ground. One hand remained on the pup's rump, not really holding her down but reminding her to stay down as Lethalia rose to her feet. Foggy tried to get up with her, unwilling to be left out of anything her owner was up to. Especially if it was opening the way for something more interesting! "No," the satyr told her firmly. Teaching pets basic things wasn't ever really interesting, but Lethalia was surprised how wistful she felt to be able to converse with someone a little further than was possible with a canine companion. Still, she gently urged Foggy back into a sit in spite of the pup's fussing, praising "Good sit!" and a few kibbles of treats shaken out of the capsule. "Now, sit. Stay here," she repeated, handing off a few more treats as she rose to her feet. February|11 sit|2 stay|1

It was progress that Foggy's rear end stayed planted this time, anyway. It lasted as long as Lethalia expected it to - as soon as she got a few steps away and started reaching for the gate. Some creature would be scared of the grand iron gate. The way serpents writhed against one another to create the spokes was realistic enough was enough to spook those wise enough to be frightened of snakes. For better or worse, Foggy wasn't there yet, and took little notice of the decor when she tried to approach right along with her owner. It would do her good to learn that concern eventually, but was a bit much of a lesson for today. "Foggy, no," the satyr repeated, feeling like it was all she'd been saying to the poor pup. "Sit." Foggy wavered, unsure if she knew the word well enough to respond - or liked it well enough to answer to it! February|12 sit|3 stay|2

"Foggy. Sit," Lethalia reiterated, turning on her hoof to make her way over there. While the idea of intentionally sitting down was a baleful one, her owner heading back over meant she was going to be made to sit anyway. Loosening a huge sigh, the pup fell upon her hind end again, making it look like it took the most tremendous effort to carry out and pulling a groan as she popped onto the cold sidewalk. She looked up to her owner with wide sad eyes, as if to see if the woman was happy now. "Yeah, good!" the satyr confirmed for her, mussing up the pup's ears and garnering more joyous growling than her sad eyes had previously implied. "Yeah, I know, y'good bullshitter," the satyr informed her as she rose to her feet. "Stay," she said, a moment too late as the houluh wasn't going to lose the opportunity to follow her. You know, Foggy had to follow her owner. Juuust on the off chance the satyr forgot what they were doing and let her go. Foggy's ears flattened when the woman turned, catching the pup with an ease that implied she knew Foggy was going to do something! "Hey. Sit," the satyr warned in a growl, wanting to convey she was serious without spooking the pup by snapping. They weren't there yet, but Foggy might be a challenging shit. "Good sit! Now stay," she said, pointing to the ground once again, declining to play with the pup as a reward this time so she didn't get quite so riled up. The pup brightened and wiggled as the lit came back into her owner's voice, tail thumping against the ground and seeing if there was any way she was allowed to go up to the gate. Her rear made it a few inches off the ground before her owner snapped "Stay!' February|14 sit|5 stay|6 sit & stay training accepted

There wasn't any reason to fuss over it yet; her and Foggy were on their way to figuring one another out, slow going as it was. The pup still had a lot of growing to do, after all. Only so much energy could be expended on human bullshit when there were puppy things to be learned and explored! Lethalia let the pup race ahead of her into the gate, more than a little surprised when Foggy actually stopped when the slack in the line picked up and snapped taut between them. It was only long enough to allow the slightest bow in the leash, but it would seem that all of the satyr's patience earlier had paid off. It was a blessing how intelligent these dogs were, how quickly they picked up on patterns and schedules. Being just out of her realm of expertise, the canines kept blowing her mind with their wit. Might as well work on it, if she was catching on. Foggy lv|11 ly|22 February|15 heel|2

She was nowhere near as entranced by the flora as Meade had been, but Foggy was still zig-zagging between the rows of lavender rose bushes that spanned either side of the walkway. Could there have been some interesting smells left behind by other guests for her? Lethalia couldn't ever quite decipher how individualized the mansion was per visitor, considering she had yet to see another soul here. She didn't want to think about too deeply. Reeling the pup back in while they were just taking a walk should be a pretty easy one to make appealing to a puppy - even if there were interesting smells to contend with. "Foggy," Lethalia asked, but the look over the pup's shoulder didn't appear that she was going to slow down to heed her owner. Not if she didn't have to. "Hey Foggy," she tried again, holding up two fingers pinched together for the pup to see. February|16 heel|3

"Got sometin' for 'ya," she tempted, lowering the tiny kibble of a treat enough for Foggy to smell it. Of course that was the thing to get her to pause, causing the satyr to nearly stumble over the houluh. Given her personality, a full stop wasn't what the woman had expected of the pup. "Well, tha'll work," she admitted, deciding to work with what Foggy provided. Lethalia situated herself next to the pup, hoof aligned with her rear on the ground. A suspended treat overhead was enough to keep her in place, and Lethalia handed the treat off with a "Good heel!"Before the houluh's attention could wane another treat was waved in front of her nose, dashing any ideas of another activity in her little brain. "Treat? Yeahh, follow me girlie," Lethalia sing-songed to the pup, holding the morsel out in front of Foggy's nose as the woman herself took several steps forward. Foggy eagerly followed, walking several paces in tandem with her owner with the 'carrot on a stick'. February|17 heel|4
