Fiera had brought Decima back to the training grounds in the public park. Hopefully to teach the red devil some things, but Fiera decided to take a different approach before she started. She wanted to just get to know Decima for a bit, playing with her instead of forcing her to learn anything. With any luck, she’d be able to get some of that… overexciteable energy out before she was forced to sit down and learn how to do a backflip or whatever. Maybe she’d even stop biting Fiera so much, and show some appreciation for her most favorite owner! Ok that might have been a long shot, but Fiera just wanted to engage the illusion for a little while, make believe that Decima liked her and her presence. Especially right at this very moment, when Decima was trying her hardest to take Fiera’s hand off at the wrist. Ow.

Decima was back in the leash harness this time, the kind you’d snap onto toddlers to keep them from running off on you. Decima was the perfect size for one, much to her absolute loathing and Fiera’s relief. Try as she might, she wouldn’t reach anything that was out of leash range. Decima hadn’t exactly proven herself trustworthy to be released, so it would have to stay on. Unfortunately, that meant that Fiera herself was the only thing within ravaging distance. The humanish desperately wished for the existence of something solid, metallic, and unbreakeable that could walk Decima for her, while she followed at a safe distance behind. Unfortunately, those sorts of things were called TROD and while they definitely existed, they cost hundreds of credits that Fiera did not have, which left Fiera to get shredded by her own pets. Not that she could really call Decima a ‘pet’.

First of all, Decima was intelligent. Sapient even, according to what Fiera had read, and what she read was usually accurate. They weren’t capable of speech unfortunately, which led to most people thinking they were less intelligent than they actually were. She had seen… a LOT of videos of absolutely furious red devils, the thought of which made her shiver. They usually utilized telepathy instead, but very few people seemed to develop that skill as far as they should, resulting in sadly shut in and undersocialized red devils. Fiera wasn’t about to let that happen to anyone under her care, especially if they were truly a person, if just one of a different type than she was useful. As a result, it wasn’t really fair to consider Decima a ‘pet’. It was more accurate to think of her as...not a child, as Decima was a full adult, but a dependant. Someone that Fiera paid taxes for and let stay in her house.

A freeloader, she snorted. Of course, Decima also wasn’t something Fiera could consider a pet because most pets LIKED their owners. Pet implied well… something you could pet. Touch. Interact with. As it stood, Decima was a ball of mischevious, rambunctious rage. If Fiera wasn’t around, Decima would happily take this out on everyone else. As a public citizen with responsibilities however, Fiera couldn’t allow her to do that. As a result, she was the one that ended up being the focus of Decima’s meltdowns and lashings out. Hooray. Fiera rubbed her face as Decima attacked her ankles for the third time in the last one hundred feet. Hopefully that would change a bit in the future- Fiera wasn’t sure how much of this she could take. She cared for Decima’s well being of course, but one woman could only take so many literal bites in the butt (Decima’s second favorite spot to bite).

Decima, of course, completely loathed Fiera. Here was a creature that felt the need to not only keep her boxed up (the audacity!) but drag her around the city whenever it was most convenient for her. She fully deserved to get bitten. It didn't matter that she learned a few 'werds' in the meantime, or whatever they were called, she was determined to take her freedom as soon as the opportunity arose. She just had to figure out how to get out of this puzzlebox strap prison first. She'd give the cat thing that- she could be clever when she really wanted to be. Unfortunately, that wasn't very often, and in fact ninety percent of the time, the cat lady was stupid and dumb and awful and talked in a stupid high pitched voice and couldn't even do telepathy like a normal person. Not that Decima was very good at it yet, but she was getting there.

Dragging Decima around was starting to prove exhausting, so Fiera looked even harder than before for a place to settle down and start training. She wasn't sure where the leaf filled gulley she trained in last time was, and was definitely kicking herself for it. The biggest problem was the fact that there were so many other people around. The weather was beautiful, with crisp fall air, and the trees were in full color, decorated in oranges, reds, and yellows. As a result, the citizens of the labs were out in throngs, enjoying the environment that the park had to offer. Fiera couldn't blame them, of course- well, she could and she did, but she knew it wasn't entirely logical. The park was beautiful, and people had a right to enjoy that. Everywhere she looked, there were children playing, people having picnics, or just sitting quietly under the golden trees.

Unfortunately, Decima was an absolute terror. Fiera couldn't let her anywhere near other people, or else she would no doubt lash out. The results would be either completely ruining someone's day, sending them to the hospital, or getting Fiera sued. An equally likely option, of course, was all of the above. That meant that Fiera had to somehow find a private spot in the throngs of people and expansive park, and a large enough spot that Decima couldn't reach the end of her leash to gnash at passers by. Her aggressive and tricky personality made her (so far) very dangerous to be around people, and Fiera knew she at least sort of had to be responsible for her pets' actions. Even if her 'pet' was a very immature, technically sapient being that was attacking people not out of poor training, but just because she wanted to and to spite Fiera.

Even now, Fiera had to keep Decima within a four foot circle of her, using her retractable leash. The red devil strained at the limits of the leash, occasionally forcibly clicking out more and more inches from it, causing her owner to have to 'reel her in' every few minutes. Decima took the opportunity to leap at joggers to make them fall over, screech at children to scare them out of their skin, and make obscene gestures at the elderly. Fiera wasn't even sure where she LEARNED those gestu- wait, no Fiera had tried to cancel a cell phone plan in front of her a couple weeks ago. That had probably been it. Well, that customer service agent had deserved it, even if they couldn't have seen what she was doing. Needless to say however, it only emphasized how badly Fiera needed to get Decima out of the way of the general population.

As of right now, they were still on one of the main pathways through the park, but Fiera was increasingly looking for ways off of it. Decima took an incredible amount of glee in tormenting other pedestrians, and people were starting to shoot Fiera dirty looks. She had to wrap this up, and soon. To her right, she spotted a copse of trees. She didn't see too many people milling around them- maybe the leaves they had dropped were too damp for most peoples' tastes? Fiera decided she would take it, and started trying to drag Decima off the path. She, of course, literally dug her heels in, making the most annoying noise that she could fathom in the process. Fiera once again found herself regretting not staying home this day, but if there was anything Fiera had in spades, it was stubbornness and spite. With any luck, it would be enough to outpace Decima's own.

Of course, it could be the case that there were people in this trees, and she just couldn't see them from here. In which case, Fiera would be dragging Decima across the grass (Literally, as the red devil had decided that she didn't feel like walking anymore, leaving Fiera dragging a seventy pound ragdoll along behind her, earning odd glances from the fellow parkgoers.) for nothing. Still, she grit her teeth and stomped forward, as she had to try SOMETHING. Decima wasn't getting any more cooperative, after all. In fact, the fact that she was now pulling up clods of grass and dirt from the ground as she was dragged and lobbing them at Fiera's head (without any direct hits thankfully...so far) implied that she was getting even more impatient than before. Fiera had to find a place to put her down and give her a bit more free reign before a meltdown happened.

Thankfully, the trees did seem to be a pretty good option- or at least so it seemed when Fiera had stepped a couple feet into them. The leaves were indeed wetter than the grass outside, and after dragging Decima a mere three feet in, the red devil leapt up, sputtering and slapping at the wet offenders. Fiera paused a moment to let her wipe herself off, and resisted the urge to give her a smug smile. Decima hissed at her anyway, and ran up to give her a kick in the shin, which Fiera deftly dodged. Then, they continued to walk, Fiera with her ears pricked and nose up, and Decima stomping, kicking, and crossing her arms while grumbling softly. She had no idea that grumbling was supposed to be common speech but quiet, of course. As far as she knew, it was just another weird noise that people made when they were upset.

Fiera supposed she should be charmed by the mimicry, but frankly it was more difficult than anything else to ignore the increasing frequency of the deep, bratty sighs coming from behind her. "We're nearly there." Fiera offered, but had a feeling that it wouldn't work- Decima didn't know what she was saying (as she didn't speak common), and Fiera had no clue where 'there' was. It was strictly a 'please shut up' platitude, like the kind you offer whiny, carsick children on a cross country ride. With any luck however, they'd arrive soon and Fiera would be able to tie of Decima's leash somewhere, allowing her a little freedom to terrorize, even if they only thing she had to mess with and disturb was some fallen leaves and a couple of very unfortunate trees. As she walked however, she realized that that would probably be for the better, if she needed to train attack moves.

Frankly, the idea of teaching the red devil how to hurt things sent a bit of a shiver down Fiera's spine, and a well justified one at that. Teaching her battle worthy attacks could upgrade Decima from 'annoying little terror' to a genuine threat to peoples' safety, and the humanish knew that she would be the one on the hook should anything bad happen. And yet... she also thought that perhaps if Decima had some sense of control and personal agency, she might not act out as much. She'd know that she could escape if she wanted to, and thus wouldn't feel the need to test her owner's boundaries quite as much. Furthermore, Decima was an intelligent creature. Just because Fiera didn't like the idea of her breathing fire or controlling shadows didn't mean that she didn't have a right to know about her own body and what it was capable of.

That didn't mean that the plan of action didn't have flaws, or that it could go poorly... but if the labs wanted to create a dangerous, sapient creature with a taste for mayhem, then they shouldn't make them publically available for people to own. And they DEFINITELY shouldn't be upset when those creatures finally learn how to use their abilities to the fullest extent. That was just asking for trouble. Speaking of trouble, Fiera suspected that Decima was starting to reach her limit. The annoying noises she was making had reached a fever pitch, and Fiera had to press her ears against her skull just to take the edge off. Luckily, Fiera hadn't seen a person in quite some time now- it looked like this part of the park was just as private as she was hoping for. With any luck, they could set up 'camp' here and be left undisturbed for the training session.

Fiera started tying her end of Decima's leash to a nearby low hanging tree branch, knotting it carefully and securely, and the devil immediately perked up. She seemed even more excited when Fiera finally set her bag down, bouncing up and down on her heels. Her irritated keening had shifted into an excited chattering, and she immediately starting throwing leaves into the air in a sort of expression of joy. Fiera couldn't help but smile to herself at Decima's response, and was in fact quite relieved herself. If Decima was happy after all, that meant that Fiera hopefully wouldn't get bitten... as much. This was still Decima we're talking about. This happy reaction would also hopefully make the training of these initial tricks go a bit more smoothly. Maybe she could even hope that Decima would be enthusiastic to learn! ...Ok, probably not. But a cat girl could dream, couldn't she?
