Lunara gazed at the sparkler as if entranced. Fiera could understand why- many yumenokei apparently had a natural affinity for light. Fiera got the feeling she'd probably have a similar reaction to having a freshly cooked, well seasoned steak set in front of her. "Ok, Lunara! Crescent!" Fiera said, waving the sparkler back and forth. It's movements would leave an after image in a regular person's eye- making it look like a crescent of light had been drawn through the air. Fiera's hope was that Lunara would mimic this, and her natural magic would take care of the rest. Lunara looked at the sparkler, clearly fascinated, but only lifted up a leg to paw at it instead. Fiera cringed and drew the sparkler back a bit. She was glad Lunara was interested, but she didn't want her to burn herself! Maybe she'd have to take a bit more control here...

Fiera gently took one of Lunara's paws, still reaching out to try and touch the tiny flame. "Lunara." She said firmly. "Crescent." She waved the sparkler back and forth, but also moved Lunara's paw back and forth as well. At first, Lunara struggled gently, trying to pull her paw away, but soon she had gotten into the rhythm too. She bobbed her front limb back and forth, following the movement of the sparkler. Her face was alien and inscrutable, but her body language suggested an intense fascination with what Fiera had come up with. Soon, the first sparkler burnt out, but Lunara continued the waving motion for a good twenty seconds, still in some sort of trance. Eventually however, she appeared to break out of it, slowly lowering her paw. "Crescent." Fiera repeated, trying to get Lunara to repeat it. "Lunara, crescent." Lunara tentatively raised her paw once more, focusing on the tip...

And a tiny sparkle of light appeared at the tip. Fiera gasped in wonder- magic was something she had never seen before. Oh sure, she had heard about it from enough people here that she supposed it was real. After all, too many people believed in it separately for it to be some sort of elaborate joke. But seeing it in person was...something else. Fiera lifted up the sparkler, now out but still smoking, and began waving it back and forth. "Crescent." She said again, bobbing it around. Lunara mirrored the motions, mimicking the sparkler with that tiny burst of light, no bigger than a candle flame. Unlike Fiera's sparkler however, it seemed to be more... tangible. Permanent. Instead of it's shape being a mere afterimage on the eye, the light itself stayed in the air, like a neon sign in the shape of a crescent. It was breathtaking.

"Wow... good Crescent, Lunara." Fiera said, suddenly remembering that she was supposed to be training Lunara to do this on command. Still, despite its beauty, Fiera knew that crescent of light was supposed to be a fighting move. She still had to get Lunara to... throw it. Somehow. She got her lighter back out, flicking it at the tip of another sparkler. Soon she had it in front of her, glittering just as bright as the last, but not the same "texture" of light as Lunara's. It was close enough however that Lunara got the general idea. Again, she waved it back and forth in front of Lunara. "Crescent." She stated plainly, hoping she was listening. As Lunara watched, her light got brighter and brighter, instead of the firefly glow of before, soon matching and even exceeding the brightness of the sparkler. Fiera couldn't feel any heat, but she knew that if she touched it... well, it certainly looked sharp.

Finally, after a few seconds of perfectly matching rhythm, Fiera shouted "CRESCENT!" and flung the sparkler at the tree the pair of them were sitting next to. The sparkler bounced off of it harmlessly, going out as it hit the ground. (Which Fiera was quite thankful for- she didn't need to accidentally set anything on fire tonight. She was trying to stay OUT of trouble, after all.) A mere moment behind it however, was Lunara, mimicking the action. The light surged forward, like a scythe blade made of light, slamming into the tree- leaving a large, steaming gash in the wood. Fiera cringed. So much for not damaging anything tonight. She REALLY hoped that nobody would notice that. But before she took too long mulling over Lunara's property damage, she made sure to praise Lunara. She slathered the yumenokei both with copious praising words, and a soft ball of mochi, which she happily accepted.

Fiera stood up and brushed off her pants, which were covered in tiny bits of ash from their training session. Lunara's light was clean burning (if it was burning at all- Fiera couldn't detect any heat after all), but the sparklers weren't quite as hygienic. The big test, of course, was seeing if Lunara could do that on command. Fiera turned around, looking into the night, the stars and moon glimmering above. It was a beautiful night- the light pollution wasn't nearly as bad as one would think. Fiera pointed up into the sky, then turned to face Lunara. "Lunara," she said, as the yumenokei hopped towards her. "Crescent!" Lunara tilted her head for a minute, then reared back on her hind legs. With one front paw, she drew another crescent into the air, and a trace of light shot out into the sky. Fiera looked at it in awe, and then laughed and had Lunara repeat the action several times more. Was it real fireworks? Perhaps not. But in here opinion, real magic was twice as good.

Another day, another pet. Fiera carefully opened the carrier, but Zazzle didn't come out. She peered into it, and only tiny black eyes stared out. It would look like he wasn't really feeling it today. Fiera sighed. She knew Zazzle was stubborn, and part of her wanted to drag the Inkrum out by it's ears, but she also knew that he had every reason to be nervous. He was a fresh adoption from the Abandoned Pet Adoption Agency, and this was their first time spending any significant amount of time together. Hopefully they'd be a bit better bonded by the end of the day, but she knew it would be slow going. After all, who knew how many hands this pet had passed through already, each one eventually saying "No thank you." and passing him on to someone else. Should wouldn't be surprised if Zazzle thought the same of her. Fiera: 1 Zazzle: Lv. 0.1/Lo 0.1 (Not training anything right now, just hanging out. :3)

Well, Fiera was determined to be different, even if Zazzle thought otherwise. He deserved someone who was going to stick with him, care about him. So Fiera was going to be patient. If he wanted to come out, he was more than welcome, Fiera wouldn't push him. He could take as long as he liked.
...Fiera COULD tilt the carrier forward a little, though. She heard disgruntled skittering coming from inside of it- Inkrum didn't make noise, but Zazzle managed to find ways to make his displeasure known regardless. Still, after about 30 seconds of holding the carrier at a forty five degree angle, he hadn't come out. Fiera leaned over and peeked inside the cage curiously. Inside, Zazzle had braced all six of his legs onto the side of the carrier, ears pushed back in displeasure. He held his wings tight to his body, but twitched them anxiously upon seeing her.

"Oh, fine then." Fiera said, rolling her eyes. She dropped the end of the carrier back on the ground with a thump, and heard disgruntled wing flaps from inside. He could spend all day in there, for all she cared. In the meantime, she decided to check her bag. She had brought her shiny new training whistle, though she didn't think she'd need it this time, some bamboo to reward Zazzle for doing tricks, her phone in case she got bored (she went and got that out right away), a spare shirt in case things got messy, a variety of hair and makeup products, and a makeshift leash made of string. Regular leashes would never fit a critter like zazzle, so she had to engineer her own from some spare backpack straps and twine. It was pretty flimsy, but she didn't think Zazzle was strong enough to break through it.

Well, hopefully he wouldn't be able to break through it, she thought as she cast a glance back at the carrier. She didn't really know what Zazzle was capable of. She didn't know much about inkrum at all, to be honest. She had done her best to research them at the library, but there just wasn't that much research out there. Even in their hey day, they weren't an exactly popular species. She could sort of see why- they were awkwardly shaped with very disparate pieces of anatomy. One of the most frankensteinian things to come out of the labs, no doubt. Fiera found it charming, but apparently other people didn't agree. It would seem that as soon as they were made, they all died off again and went extinct, apparently with little fanfare or mourning. Fiera could, again, see why- such a strange creature most likely had a variety of health issues.

That led her to Zazzle; apparently while functionally extinct, a few Inkrum had been revived through methods that Fiera couldn't even fathom. The combination of magic and science here still flew far over her head. After that however, their populations were still devastatingly low, to the point where most newcomers to the land had never even heard of them. Including Fiera until recently. She hadn't even heard of them until she had walked in the door of the APAA, and met Zazzle face to...shell. Now here she was, with one of the last straggling members of an extinct species. She smiled though; his stubborn nature was probably the biggest reason he was still around. If the world wanted him gone, it would have to do a lot more than tip over his pet carrier. Indeed, she was determined to have Zazzle around for a good long time, whether he liked it or not.

Fiera sat there in front of Zazzle. He had just been adopted, and Fiera thought it was high time that they got some bonding in via training. She had written up a list of a couple basics to teach him, and hopefully they'd be a little bit closer by the end of the day.
Unfortunately, that all hinged on him coming out of his carrier crate. She had tried just about everything, even trying to tip him out of it, but nothing had worked. This inkrum did NOT want to come out. "Fine then." Fiera huffed. "You'll just have to learn from inside the box." Zazzle didn't respond, only glaring at her from within the gloom of the box. She leaned down, peering in. "Zazzle...!" She called, her voice sugar sweet. She heard a shuffling noise, and watched as the inkrum managed to shove himself even further toward the back of the crate.

At least he wasn't scared of her, she knew that much. Zazzle was stubborn at heart, and was likely being difficult just for the hell of it. Fiera sighed. Fern, her rakai sarane had a natural eagerness to please, and Lunara, her gengetsu yumenokei, was naturally intelligent. Zazzle was determined, but also bullheaded, which was going to make this difficult. She needed to get him out of that crate. She quietly dug through her training bag. Where was it... there! She got out a few shoots of bamboo. Apparently, it was the only thing that inkrum really ate, but every time she waved it around, Zazzle acted like it was a special treat. "Zazzle..." She called sweetly while waving it around. Getting him used to the sound of his own name was ideal here. Hopefully he was smart enough to make the connection between "Zazzle" and "something requiring my attention".

Fiera kept on waving the bamboo while cooing Zazzle's name, sticking it almost IN the carrier, and even whacking the top of it with the bunch, but the inkrum didn't budge. Fiera huffed with mock anger. "Oh, so it's like that then, huh?" She pouted. "Fine then!" She said. "This bamboo isnt going to eat itself! Guess I'm going to have to do it!" With that, she pretended to eat a stalk of bamboo, making loud gobbling noises and really just putting it down her sleeve. She heard a rustling noise from inside the carrier. She raised another stalk, preparing to do it again, when a flurry of green shell and feathers launched itself from the carrier. "Oh there you are, Zazzle." She said amusedly. "Nice of you to join me." She supposed she should get to actual training. "Zazzle!" She said, holding up the bamboo and emphasizing his name.

Zazzle looked up, and went to lunge for the stalk- only for Fiera to hand it right to him. "Good boy, Zazzle!" She said cheerily. The inkrum glanced up at the word. She had been using it since she adopted the creature, and there was no way he hadn't pondered its meaning at least a little bit. At least now she knew he had been paying attention all this time! Zazzle ate the bamboo with as much disdain as a creature his size could muster, but his enjoyment of the treat was still apparent through the position of his ears. Fiera figured just a little more reinforcement would be needed, and he'd understand to respond to his name. "Zazzle!" She said again, holding up another small stalk. His ears flicked up, and his front legs waved in the food's direction. "Good boy, Zazzle." She said, tossing it to him again.
