With that in mind, Fiera gently leaned down toward the pocketpets. They didn't so much as wiggle when she picked them up, partially due to already being acclimated to people and partially due to the fact that they had already worn themselves out playing with Marley. The harachiu infant made a few questioning noises as she set them gently in her bag, but didn't seem too upset. Fiera almost wondered why until she let out a massive yawn. Ah. Too tired to care, most likely. Fiera nodded and zipped up the bag, letting the pocketpets settle themselves in amongst the wreath she had already picked up. Marley reached up her tiny arms at Fiera as the humanish drew close to her, and she stopped long enough to give the baby an affectionate stroke across the ears before she began bundling her back up again in her burrito, drawing the blanket tight around her.

When she was ready to go, Marley was already blinking slowly, as if just about ready to fall asleep. "Sorry about this in advance, then." Fiera muttered to herself, glancing back at the door. She hefted her backpack onto her back and gently picked up Marley, crooking the baby's face toward Fiera's own clothing so hopefully the cold wouldn't touch her much as they went back outside. Fiera gave the room one last good scan. She couldn't hear anything else rustling about in the shadows, nor did she see any other bells or wreathes just lying around. It looked like the humanish had picked this place pretty clean. "I guess that's that, then." She said to herself, and turned around to head toward the door. This had been a pretty short trip by her standards, but it was also pretty successful in that at least Marley had gotten to make some new friends.

The mansion wasn't usually Aspen's... thing. When Fiera went out with the dryad, they usually accompanied each other to the gardens. Aspen adored plants, being part plant themself, and was more than happy to sit pretty while Fiera primped and preened her garden. Today though, Fiera wanted them to try something different. A wide variety of experiences would help Aspen get used to life outside the kennel, and, well... Fiera was getting tired of them being so naive, if she was being honest. The dryad had nearly been trampled the previous week after they wandered out into live traffic. Apparently the idea that creatures the size of thundergug wouldn't stop upon seeing them was a foreign concept, so instead they gaped openly as the carts got closer and closer to them, standing dumbly until Fiera had snatched them back onto the sidewalk and given them the reaming of their short life. The creature had merely stared at Fiera blankly as she had started yelling at them, but their eyebrows slightly furrowed together as they realized from Fiera's frantic tone that, perhaps, they had done something wrong. The humanish had decided after that that exposing them to more complicated situations would at the very least teach them to pay more attention to their surroundings. The mansion wasn't exactly a safe place for that sort of education, but February was usually a pretty safe month to come around, even if it was freezing cold out. It was Vakrah after all, the season of love and romance and all that mushy garbage that Fiera had given up on a long time ago. Still, it wasn't exactly a month where the mansion could mush people into a pulp and get away with it... though Fiera hadn't seen any news articles about that happening in a while anyway.

"Getting soft, eh?" She chided congenially, knocking her knuckle against the wrought iron gate leading into the mansion. It creaked ominously, but she paid it no mind. Dangerously magical or not, the season of love meant that the mansion would be trying to facilitate bonds, not ripping them apart. Still, she wasn't about to waste her time getting inside. Winter was still in full force right now, and even with a puffer jacket on she was shivering in her boots, her tail puffed wide. The gate swung open easily, and she glanced up at its tines. They looked... way fancier than usual, and well cared for. The rest of the mansion matched that look she realized as she finally got a good look at it. The lawn was immaculately cut in perfect rows, different shades of green striping back and forth between the gate and the body of the mansion itself.

The path she and Aspen were set on was covered in finely cut black and white gravel, though Aspen almost immediately stepped off onto the grass, preferring to feel plants under their feet whenever possible. Carefully cut hedges lined the path too, swirling up into dramatic shapes. One or two were hearts, others were fat, chubby cherubs with fluttering wings, still more were cut into the shape of flowers. They were perfect, but in a way that was almost impossible for a real hedge to be cut into, bringing them back around into "fake plant" territory despite no doubt having woody stems. Aspen seemed put off by them too, giving them a wide berth and odd glances as they passed by. When Aspen glanced at Fiera for reassurance, she kept her face carefully neutral, showing no sign of emotion or bother. If it was normal for her, then Aspen would come to get used to it too.

Behind the mansion Fiera could see even more hedges, albeit cut into tall rows with beds of flowers nearby. No doubt some sort of... romantic hedge maze, if that was a thing. Fiera wasn't interested in that though- she could only imagine how easy it would be to get lost in there, and the last thing she wanted was to be cold AND lost. The quicker she and Aspen could get into the mansion, the better. She picked up the pace along the gravel path, and Aspen did too, casting one last nervous glance over their shoulder. If there was one thing that described the month of Vakrah here in the Eccentric's Mansion, it was ORNATE. Romance was one thing, but it was clear that the mansion was trying to seduce the ones who viewed it more than anything, trying to convince them to spend more time and energy here.

The mansion itself was tall and imposing, but its construction was, for once, stable in appearance, light and airy doilies and twisting eaves set on top of strong foundations. Every last tile seemed to have some sort of ornate design carved into it, though Fiera didn't feel like paying too much attention to it for long. It was still cold as balls out here, after all. She reached out towards the door- and found it to have no handle. Instead, an ornate knocker hung on the front, black iron twisted into a delicate fluer-de-lis against a stark white door, settling pink toward the edges. "...You can't be serious." Fiera said, half to herself and half to the mansion- which to be fair, was probably listening in some way. She looked to either side of the front door- maybe it would be easier to open a window and get in that way.

But of course there were conveniently no windows to be seen today. Fiera was sure she saw them while walking up, but of course now that she needed them they were gone. "That's just how it goes, isn't it." She said with a sigh before lifting the door knocker. Fine, she'd do this the way the mansion wanted. She gave it a couple of of swift knocks and sure enough, the door swung open. Before she leapt however, she looked. Specifically, she placed herself in the door frame and looked at the other side of the door. There was a knob on it... so they would be able to get out easily, even if getting in required the mansion's permission. "Fine. That'll do." She said to herself, flicking an ear. "Come along then, Aspen!" She said, jerking her head toward the interior of the mansion. The harachiu crossbreed looked a bit nervous but did as she said.

Their feet and hands became more... well, human looking as they entered the building, as if pulling all of their plantlike parts in to keep them safe. Fiera supposed that was a logical decision. This was a strange area for them after all, and they'd likely be on guard... which is exactly what Fiera wanted out of all this. The inside was just as fancy as the outside however, and... Fiera had to admit, she was impressed. It was exactly the sort of aesthetic that she enjoyed in her day to day, even if she couldn't quite afford it herself yet. The finely printed wallpaper in pastel colors, the delicate latticework making up the supports of the tables, the fine crystal tabletops with etched flowers and seaside scenes... it was pretty in a way that no doubt bordered on gaudy to most, but for Fiera it was a feast for the eyes.

Aspen was carefully examining the environment too, and Fiera could understand why. They had only been in a select few buildings their entire life, much preferring to stay outside when they could. A place this luxurious was probably beyond what they could even imagine. "Nice, isn't it?" Fiera said, almost bragging... even though it wasn't her house. But she could brag about a way of life she enjoyed, right? "Welcome to humanity, this is what we get up to." So to speak. The windows were tall and skinny, making the ceilings look even higher than they were, streaming bright white light from outside onto the glass tables, which refracted tiny shards of rainbow around the room. Fiera watched as Aspen hesitantly stuck a toe into one of the glimmering streams, watching carefully as the colors bent and refracted around the appendage. A tiny smile crept across their face, as if they were suprised that a place could be this nice.

Fiera was more interested in the food, however. Each of the etched tables had a bowl on top of it, filled with all sorts of sweets and chocolates. She wasn't try to eat too much recently, but... well... if it was free... She glanced from side to side before quickly sticking a hand in the bowl, yanking out a chocolate, and popping it in her mouth. She sighed happily. Delicious, perfect dark chocolate. She could get used to this. While Aspen investigated the table more, running their fingers along the underside, Fiera happily took more chocolates, stuffing them in her bag to save for later. No one would mind, right? People took pretty much whatever wasn't nailed down in the mansion, so who would care if she grabbed some candy? She could snack on it later, if she got a bit hungry. She wasn't planning on staying for too long, but nothing was quite predictable here.

Glancing around some more, Fiera realized that this room looked more like a little cafe than anything. A place for a nice meet cute or a shy first date. Delicate china cabinets lined the wall on the right, held up on curled little feet and mostly open, allowing one to see the variety of tiny, cute mugs within. The kind that you'd fill mostly with artistically sculpted foam and maybe a knuckle of coffee if you were lucky. Fiera needed a lot more than that to get up in the morning, that was for sure. The floors were black and white checkers with little opalescent flecks in them, contributing to that faint rainbow atmosphere. And yet, despite looking like the perfect place for a first date, the room was eerily empty, devoid of anyone sitting down and explaining their interests to a potential partner for the first time. It felt like it was waiting.

Fiera rolled her eyes. Well, it could wait a little bit longer. As nice as it was, Fiera knew that chances are no one else would ever come through here, let alone someone looking to go on a date. Chances were that after Fiera left the mansion entirely, it would cease to exist and get repurposed into some other room for someone else. Besides, like most things in the mansion, there were little flaws that showed that this place wasn't quite real, and definitely wasn't design by a fellow person. First of all, despite looking like a little fancy cafe, there wasn't... any actual way to get coffee. There was no scent of it in the air implying a nearby kitchen, and there were no machines or stovetops in the area that it could be made in, just walls of pristine mugs and fancy little dishes to set them on top of.
