And then, there was a small squeak from the bushes off to the side. The humanish tried not to sprint as she ran over to them. "Serendipity?" She called hesitantly, looking around the base of the bushes. Sure enough, there was her pet, gnawing on some leaves. Fiera sighed with relief. She supposed that it made sense that her pet might try to leave the water at some point. After all, unlike some other aquatic creatures, Serendipity didn't need to breathe water, and she wasn't really heavy enough yet for hauling herself up on land to hurt her. Instead, she could make her way across the grass... slowly but surely. It was easy enough for her to move around in this terrain, but she couldn't get far if Fiera was paying attention to her. "Okay let's... get you back in the water." Fiera said, gently picking the tiny creature up.

But before she could do so, the wind began picking up. Fiera's ears flicked up as her hair began getting whipped around. Serendipity cuddled up to her, her damp body surely making her cold. "Uh..." Fiera said quietly. She glanced back at the pond. Something was... different about it. Changing? It looked all of a sudden like an oil slick had been placed upon the surface. It swirled faster and faster, until the pond was a mess of rainbow colors. The wind blew faster and faster, and the leaves began stripping from the trees. Fiera wondered if perhaps a storm had blown in, one stronger than the mansion's borders could resist, but when the bark began flying off too, she finally realized what she was looking at. She and her pet had stayed there far too long- and now the month was changing. Fiera swore under her breath and snagged her bag as she sprinted for the gate.

Sure April wasn't the WORST phase of the mansion to be stuck in, but she wasn't going to be taking her chances with it. Especially not when she was caught in the middle of the change and holding a baby sea monster that needed water to stay healthy and comfortable... and she was NOT about to set Serendipity down in that oilslick puddle she saw earlier. A vast creaking noise sounded behind her as the mansion warped and warbled to change to its new form, but she wasn't about to turn her head and look. After all, who knew if the gate would still be there if she turned back. Still, so long as she never let it leave her line of site the gate didn't move, and after a few more desperate strides she finally reached it, shoving her way out of the mansion grounds and back into the real world. Summer was at its scintillating peak. Storms had lashed the city for days now, leaving much of it a muddy mess. But now the sun had returned, turning the entire place into a humid, stinking mess. It was incredibly unpleasant as far as Fiera was concerned, and she was sure that a day trip to the mansion would help her get her mind off of things. She had been to the mansion in July only once before, but as far as she remembered it was a very... aquatic sort of month. Perhaps it would let her cool off a bit and get to know her aquatic pets a bit better. Sure enough, she had brought one of them with her today- a young tat-lung named Koshal. He was still quite a tiny thing by anyone's standards, but certainly acted like a much larger creature, snapping at any fingers that came near him. Fiera 6 Koshal 0.1/2.1 July 1 |
