"Come here real quick!" Ashe called out, wanting to make sure she would still listen to him. He didn't want her to lose her mind while swimming, of course, and it would be easier to recall her if she would listen on her own.
"I don't wanna!" She called back, treading water so she could stay on the surface. Ashe was talking to her! She didn't want to ignore him, but she also didn't want to go back to the shore just yet. She felt great! Not like earlier when she just couldn't manage to make her limbs move. They'd felt so heavy... Right now they felt so light, at one with the water around her. Little did she know, fatigue was a creeping monster.
"Please, just for a minute." She was quiet, not wanting to . "Lucrecia!" Ashe called, using her full name. Something about that made her shudder, and she started swimming toward the shore. When she reached the shallows, she walked, and then plodded through the mud.

With a sigh, Lucrecia sat down in front of Ashe on solid ground and looked up at him, pouting a bit to let him know that she would much rather be swimming around out there. Ashe stooped so he could be on level with her. He put a hand on her head and ruffled her scales a little bit. "Aww, don't look at me like that. I'm not trying to take away all of your fun. I just want to talk to you a little bit..." Her look softened and she finally relented, nuzzling into Ashe's hand. He smiled and stroked her a bit, lovingly. "So I know you love to swim. But I want you to pay attention to your body while you're out there."
"What do you mean?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. How did you not pay attention to your body? It was yours!
"When your legs start to get tired, I want you to swim to the shore. Or at least the shallows where you can stand."

A Vacera is on the hunt. It chases after a little fish, but is unsuccessful. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to see you yet, perhaps you should approach with caution. To Tame the Vacera: Make at least 4 RP posts interacting with the creature and trying to tame it. At the end of your taming attempt, mark your last post with [done] and wait for staff approval. |

Ashe was reaching down to pick up a shell he'd suddenly found, when Lucrecia let out a startled gasp. She saw something moving down there! As she watched, she saw the shape dart around fast, then slow down. She didn't know it, but it had been chasing a fish and lost the smaller critter. "What is that?" She asked, watching, leaning forward. Her front end was lower than her hind, and her butt wiggled in excitement. Ashe pocketed the shell and went to see. From his higher vantage point, he was able to see the shape and color of the Vacera on the prowl. While it wasn't much impressive compared to his beasts, he didn't want Lu getting tangled up with one!
"Stay back, please. If I can get it to come closer to us... I'll show you what it is. But we can't scare it off!" Ashe told her. She gave a determined nod; she wanted to see what it was! Ashe knelt at the water's edge and drummed his fingers on the surface, to try to get its attention.

The tapping seemed to work, and the fish swam toward him. Perhaps it thought the small splashes were a prey sized fish trying to get away - that was the goal, at least. And It swam closer, looking around. Ashe did it again, and the Vacera seemed to look up at him. It seemed a bit startled by the man's looming presence, and turned to flee. But Ashe had treats! They were just small treats, something he'd planned on using for Lu or anything else he happened to find along the way. This would be the perfect time to entice. He tossed a couple into the water in front of the moving fish, catching its attention once more. As the morsels drifted down through the water around it, the fish seemed to pause. And then it moved like it was eating them.
Ashe took that as a win and tried to get it to come back, closer, by tossing a treat here... and there... Closer and closer. See? Ashe wasn't scary. He provided snacks!

Lucrecia watched on, trying not to scare it off. She peered over the side of the rock as well to watch, marveling at the fish. "Pretty," She commented. "But needs more purple." It seemed her favorite color was purple... Perhaps because she was purple herself, and she had a bias. Ashe himself was a fan of her purple, but he disagreed.
"Purple would stand out more in the water, I'm afraid.." He murmured as he tried to keep the Vacera close to them. Dropping treats in whenever it thought otherwise. Drumming his fingers on the surface to catch its attention. "The blue and the black help it blend in with shadows and stuff, I figure."
Lucrecia pondered this a little bit. She knew she didn't blend in - there weren't many purple things, besides other dragons, in this canyon. "But I can see it! It's not blending in too well."
"I don't imagine it's trying to hide from you, so much as smaller fish that it wants to eat!" Ashe said with a chuckle.

"I suppose that makes sense," she agreed finally. She dropped the topic now, finding it boring and used up, but she kept watching the fish below as Ashe tried to convince it that staying around them was a good idea. The waters here were shallower, where most of this rock would probably have been submerged in the wet season, but there was enough for the vacera to swim in comfortably, and even the hope of hiding places for the little fish before the tides trapped them in pools.
Ashe wasn't sure how else to bond quickly with a fish that could just swim away from him at any given moment. He cheated with the bigger ones, trapping them in a netted area until they liked him! But wild things... He tried to keep it interested by trailing his finger in a large circle, getting the fish to follow and pay him attention. He would make big and little splashes, and drop occasional treats. But he couldn't do this forever! Would the fish like him?

"Won't that fish scare away other fish," Lu pondered out loud, suddenly out of the blue. She was watching it still, but had realized the smaller ones had all gone away. There wasn't any life visible around here, let along something that would actually nibble at Ashe's fishing pole, or swim into a net. Was Ashe giving it all up for the one bigger fish? Was it that special?
"It probably will. I'd have to move it to a pool, temporarily, or take it home real quick to get it out of the way. But first things first, this is my catch, and I'm going to catch it!" He smiled reassuringly over at her. "Once this is taken care of, we can have a bit more fun, don't you worry."
Ashe hadn't been in the mood for anything aquatic lately. The Aquarium, which he used to fish for, reminded him too much of... her. But it was still a habit, still in his blood, to fish and reap the bounty the sea offered him.

Food makes the world go round. The vacera warms up to you pretty fast, with your tactic in place - looks like you've made a new friend! [Congratulations, you have successfully tamed the creature!]    Even better, there are some catches to be had... |
