Um well, as if it meant he didn't have to carry all the little critters, it was fine, he supposed. Juniper's growing collection of pocketpets was a bit strange, but it wasn't stopping her from following along with his exploration. As they reached the other end of the crew quarters, Nerius realized there was another staircase down that he'd missed. It was tucked behind the way back up, and he'd been more focused on the room and all its contents. How many decks did this ship have? Someone more knowledgeable about ships probably would have been able to answer that, but no matter the answer it was another place to explore.
It got darker as he descended the stairs, was this part of the ship underground? Some of the ship would have been below the water line, so it made sense that some of it would be below the ground. It wasn't pitch dark, but there definitely wasn't as much light filtering down as before.

On reaching the bottom of the stares, the room he'd arrived in looked to be for storage. It was filled with barrels and crates, some of which he could already see were open. If the lockers were anything to go by, Nerius expected most of it would be made of snow and ice, but there could be something less melty.
Looking in the first crate, his suspicions were proved right, inside the first crate were snowy stacks of.. something. The gear was probably for the ship, and not the crew, which explained why he had no idea what it was for. Juniper wasn't any help at identifying the objects, but she was curious too, and looked through the slats on a closed snow crate, though wasn't able to actually see anything distinctive inside. It was possible the 'closed' ones didn't actually contain anything, and were just solid, the same way the lockers above had been.

Most of them were closed as well, and there wasn't much to see. Some of the barrels were empty, and looking into them Nerius could see an assortment of foodstuffs. Dried corn was in one, preserved meat of some sort in another, and an awful lot of... leaves? He had no idea what those were for. It was hard to identify specifically what any of the things were, given they were made out of snow, but it seemed to be a lot food that would last on long journeys. It wouldn't have been very appetizing even if it was the actual food, and wasn't any better made out of snow.
Juniper was loosing interest as well, it was a lot of the same, and she was too short to really look into the crates, or even most the barrels. But she had spotted something while Nerius was busy looking through the supplies, and made a noise to get his attention.

Nerius glanced up at the sound, she hadn't sounded alarmed, but did want his attention. It was another doorway, he realized, possibly to somewhere more interesting. Well, it would hard to be less interesting than a bunch of crates that couldn't be opened, so with a last glance to make sure he hadn't missed anything not made of snow, walked over to the evergreen and the doorway. She didn't enter until he got there, but there was to telling if that was the training paying off, or her naturally skittish temperament.
She did follow after he entered the new room, and immediately Nerius realized she'd found something way more interesting than the ship stores. Well, technically it was for storage, storing treasure, that was. Had this been a real ship, this would have been where the pirates kept their loot, he realized. And they would have had a lot of it, the room was filled with piles of treasure.

Okay, "treasure". The piles and piles of coins were all made out of ice, which unfortunately didn't have any real value. The chests filled with "loot" were similarly made of snow and ice, but it was at least interesting to look at. Actual gold would have been better, of course, but Nerius hadn't really expected to find real treasure in a snow ship.
He had to admit the false treasure was detailed, each coin was a separate piece of ice, and picking it up for a closer look, Nerius could see the actual engravings of a real coin. The mansion wasn't doing this by half, it seemed. Juniper might not have realized the value of the items the ship was mimicking, but the clinking of "coins" caught her attention, and she picked up a handful of them, clinking them one by one back into a treasure chest, having a fun time playing with it.

There was even a large statue, it looked heavy as ice, and probably would have been even worse to move had it been made of its original materiel. Made of ice, it didn't look particularly valuable, but if it had been made of solid gold, that would have been another matter. Either way, he wouldn't be able to move it, and after viewing it for a few moments, Nerius went on to exploring more of the treasure.
Moving around the room was a bit of an obstacle course, there were ice coins everywhere, looking to have spilled from the chests. They were slippery, and a nuisance to walk on, but that wouldn't stop him. Juniper almost looked to be "helping", happily clinking the coins into the chests. There was more than she could reasonably move, and not enough chests for all of them, but she didn't seem to mind. It did make Nerius wonder if he should get toys of some sort for her in the garden, evergreens were a smarter species, and she might be getting bored.

At least he'd been taking her out more often lately, but it was still something to look into later. For now, he was looking into the loot. There were some more basic containers, more barrels, all open and spilling over with coins and icy jewelry. The necklaces almost appeared to be made out of diamond, or some other clear gem, they way the ice crystals sparkled in the light. It was a shame about the whole melting thing, otherwise he would have grabbed a few.
But mostly, there were a lot of chests, most open, and overflowing with treasure. Coins, plates, jewelry, goblets, sculptures, anything that could have been made out of gold, was there, Nerius noticed as he looked over a few of the chests. It was almost teasing, in a way, but Juniper didn't mind, she was happy to dig through the ice treasure, inspecting the sculptures and jewellery as if it had been made out of actual treasure.

Nerius was searching through the ice treasure as well, but with a bit more purpose, he was looking for something that wasn't made out of ice. At first, he'd thought the ringing was the sound of Juniper playing in the ice treasure. She was still enjoying that, and had started draping the ice jewels across her branches.
But it was a metallic sound, he realized. Nerius followed the sound, to find a pair of bells sitting in a chest on top of icey coins. There was no obvious cause for them to ring, but he was starting to realize that was usually the case. They were.. sort of treasure. They looked gold, at least, though there was no telling here if the bells were actually made of precious metal, or that was just coloration, or gold plating. Either way, he'd take them, and once the gold bells had joined the others in his backpack, he looked around for anything more.

And after a bit of looking did spot a flash of color behind a chest. Walking over to it, Nerius realized it was a small, potted fireplace. It wasn't lit, thankfully, it would have been tricky to move had there been actual fire inside. It was still a weird bit of mansion loot (or was that booty, given it was in a pirate ship?), but after a bit of rearranging, managed to fit it in his backpack. Nerius wasn't sure if there'd be much else (that wasn't ice) in the treasure hold, but he figured it was worth searching a bit more. At least the uniform color of the ice and snow meant anything else tended to stick out well.
Juniper seemed to finally be getting tired of the ice loot, and quit digging through the chest, though the ice jewels were still draped across her branches, including the 'crown' of them on her head.

After a good bit more time searching, Nerius finally decided that he'd probably found anything not made of snow or ice down here. It was bit of a shame, he'd hoped to find more in a treasure room, but that didn't seem to be the case.
Well, not quite. As he headed back to the exit, Nerius spotted a wreathe hanging on the wall next to the door. He hadn't checked the walls, but a quick look around didn't reveal any other non snow decor. It was a rather unwieldy thing to carry, but he was able to hook it onto a loop on the outside of the backpack. Juniper was weirdly fascinated by it, maybe because the wreathe was made of similar materials as herself? It certainly didn't discourage her from following him, at least, and she willingly tagged along as he backtracked through the storage room, and up to the top deck of the ship.

Nerius was surprised to see it was starting to get dark, it wasn't nightfall yet, but he'd still spent more time exploring the snow ship than he'd thought. He had wanted to explore more of the grounds, and the mansion itself, but he also didn't really want to spend the night here. Especially after the thing that had greeted them at the entrance. No thank you, those stories were so much worse at night, and even if it probably wasn't the same entities that lurked in his homeland, Nerius still didn't want to be around whatever it was at night.
So it was best if the started heading home, they'd gone off the path a bit, and it would take a while to get back. Juniper had gotten distracted with the gear scattered around the deck, but fortunately she actually had some training, and followed along with him when the command was given. She still wasn't a fan of the ramp up and down though.

But they both made it down just fine, and thankfully the mansion was still in sight. That wasn't where they were going, but heading in that direction for a short time made it easy to find the main path back out. It still wasn't a short walk back to the gate, and the wind was picking up. Thankfully, Nerius had dressed for the cold weather, and that seemed to be Juniper's preferred temperature. She wasn't bothered in the least, though did adjust the pocketpets to make sure they wouldn't fall. They didn't seem bothered either, which wasn't surprising, given where they'd been living.
Though it wasn't a short walk, it was along one of the most traveled paths, and hadn't seen anything other than footprints. If he came across something, he'd grab it, but wasn't really expecting much. But the two were finally approaching the gate, and then it would be another lengthy walk back to his garden.
- Nerius and Juniper leave the Mansion, grabbing any items on the way out. -

Somehow, the Mansion was becoming his go to place for bonding with critters. Sure, the park worked too, but who wanted to work on useful commands when you could explore a weird old freaky house instead? Nerius had wanted to visit the Mansion a second time this month, he'd made a decent trip earlier, but he hadn't gotten to the building itself. He was planning on doing that today, the leafscatter he'd brought wasn't as equipped to handle the cold as Juniper had been, and would likely be more comfortable indoors. Somehow, the grounds this time of year were colder than the rest off the city.
They'd just passed through the front gates, and already the temperature had dropped. It was a bit of a walk to the building, and the path wasn't completely straight, but it probably wasn't really any worse than the road up to his own house. He just hoped there wouldn't be any horrible things making noises on the way up.
