She could probably fight it off easily. Fiera’s intentions were far more innocent however as she pulled the velcro off, the loud crackling noise filling the otherwise quiet air of the pool area which was otherwise only full of the sound of gentle lapping and the distant hum of pumps and filtrators. A moment later and the weights were around Ophelia’s ankles, and Fiera was able to quickly tear them off and toss them to the side next to the crate. The amphadron seemed relievd to have them off as she quickly hopped out of the pool, not even glancing at Fiera to see if she was following or not. She made a couple of quick laps around the pool, no doubt feeling endlessly lighter and swifter as she ran now that she didn’t have those heavy weights around her legs, nor the drag of the pool water to hold her down. Fiera smiled as she pulled herself out of the pool as well, tossing the leg weights down casually next to the crate. Ophelia continued to enjoy herself as Fiera opened the crate again, and didn’t notice as the humanish picked up a ball again, turning it over in her hand… before turning around and lobbing it at the amphadron. It aimed a little low (considering how difficult it was to hit an actively moving target) and Ophelia jumped over it effortlessly, to Fiera’s surprise. She hadn’t even been looking at Fiera! ...Had she? A sly smile crept over the humanish’s face as she picked up ball after ball and threw it at the amphadron. Now free of the leg weights however, Ophelia’s sense of dexterity was all the more effortless now, and she managed to deftly jump over, duck under, or dodge around each one that Fiera threw. Their pace increased to the point of freneticism, but neither of them were distressed about it- it was exciting! Not to mention great fun. Soon enough, Fiera found herself grasping around in the chest for another plastic ball to throw at her moss amphadron… only to find her hands coming up with nothing but air. She glanced over for the first time in a minute or so, and found that she had managed to completely empty the chest… and cover the room in plastic balls. Woops. “Well, I suppose that’s the end of that.” Fiera said with a slight laugh, rubbing her back. “You think we’re about done, Ophelia?” Fiera said, only for the amphadron to flop over on the ground in response. “Yeah, I thought so.” Fiera said, and began the long process of cleaning up all the balls they had thrown everywhere. It took longer than she’d like to admit (and her back pain didn’t exactly help), but soon enough they were all returned to the crate. He was proud of how far Ophelia had come today- she was now more nimble than any other amphadron she ahd met, and it was all thanks to her sense of drive and self motivation. Fiera couldn’t be more happy with her progress… though if her attitude could improve some as well, that would be icing on the cake.

Well. The Winter Wonderbrawl tournament was coming up, and soon. Fiera didn’t think that a gym session would be worth it with how little time they had left… but as Fiera had trained Donner, it slowly became clear that he wasn’t quite up to snuff. She had gotten his basic tricks down though, which meant that he would be safe to enter the gym. He certainly needed it- sure he had raw power, but his execution was off. He needed to be trained to be more precise, quicker in his actions, to THINK instead of just act. Fiera hoped that he was capable of that last one, actually. Seekers tended to be… well, maybe not dumb, but they didn’t really need to think of the outcome of most of their fights. Their jaws tended to answer all of the questions that one might have to ask, and despite his fancy appearance, Donner was no different from the rest of his kin. It had taken some doing to wrestle him to the training gym, of course. Getting him to follow her was a lot of effort, but getting him to do it without harassing anyone out on the street on the way there… Fiera 1 Donner 6.1/3.1 1

Well, at least they had arrived, and he could put up a reasonable facsimile of well trained. “Donner, sit!” Fiera said cheerily as she approached the front desk, pleading with him with her eyes. The seeker huffed and likely would have rolled his eyes at her if that was something he knew how to do, but he did sink down on his haunches as Fiera shot a dazzling smile at the receptionist. Thankfully, the woman at the front desk didn’t even blink. Fiera supposed that made sense- they likely saw all sorts of fearsome beasts here. A snowstalker seeker likely didn’t even ping on her radar by this point. With Fiera’s still pretty feral seeker successfully masqueraded in, Fiera filled out the paperwork as quickly as possible so they could get into the depths of the gym. She glanced down the halls as she signed her signature on just about everything- she had a rough idea of where she needed to go, but she’d have to look through all the different rooms to know for sure. Hopefully Donner would be up for a bit more of a walk. This place was huge once you got in there, to make room for the creatures that trained here.

Sure enough, once she and Donner were past the front desk, there was a nigh infinite expanse of training equipment sets and rooms to choose from. Fiera was here today, of course, to teach her seeker to be more dexterous. She needed precision where he already had power, whether he liked it or not. The gym usually had a lot to offer with regards to that- treadmills, hoops to jump, so on and so forth, but none of them really caught Fiera’s eye today. While Donner did know basic tricks, she didn’t think the seeker would really be down for jumping through a hoop, to say the least. He’d probably just gnaw it to pieces. Fiera did have enough pieces of jerky with her today to encourage him to cooperate, but they likely wouldn’t work if what she was asking wasn’t something already roughly in his wheelhouse. She’d have to find something that would teach him to be quick and careful, but wasn’t something that would be impossible to pick up. As she glanced out of a sliding glass door however, she spotted it. “Oh, now that’ll do…” The humanish said, a grin slowly splitting its way up her face.

The humanish made a beeline toward the doors, which opened easily before her, tugging her seeker along behind her. It was still the middle of winter right now, which left these outdoor training areas covered in a thick layer of snow and mostly abandoned by all but the most dedicated of trainers… or in Fiera’s case, the best adapted pets. Donner’s thick fur made dealing with the freezing temperatures easy as pie. What she spotted of course was a tire hopping track. This was normally something that humans would use to train themselves, forcing them to high knee, step swiftly, and watch where they were going so they didnt trip. It made perfect sense that it could be adapted to four legged creatures as well with a bit of size adjustment on the tires. Of course, they were also covered in a thick layer of snow that would no doubt cling to the fur and make it harder to see where the tires were (as right now they were less “tires” and more “vaguely tire shaped lumps of snow”.), but that would just add to the much needed challenge of Donner’s training session. It would be easy to convince him to do it too.

After all, all he had to do was run, technically. Fiera dropped the lead leaving Donner to his own devices for the moment. The seeker sniffed around idly, not really finding much of interest around here. If it wasn’t something he could respond to with an intense level of violence, he didn’t really care. Fiera however, hopped her way across the field of tires, which she now realized was less a straight line and more a large circle, allowing pets to navigate it in whatever way they felt comfortable. When she was on the other side from Donner, she fumbled in her pocket, getting out the packet of jerky she had brought along as a treat for the seeker. “Hey Donner, look what I have!” She called brightly, pulling out a strip of food and holding it aloft for the furry creature to see. The seeker looked up in a bored fashion at first, but even Fiera could see how his posture tightened when he realized what he was looking at. She was holding some real good food, and he knew that he wanted it, without a doubt. “That’s it, come here!” She called out to encourage him.

Dinner began trotting over to her, slowly picking up the pace as the treat came into better focus, licking his chops... only to trip over the tire, hidden by snow. Fiera respectfully averted her eyes as he snarled at the tires, lashing his limbs out to try and harm them. When he decided he was done however, he sat up and looked over his surroundings, finally realizing he wasn’t on flat ground. “Come on, Donnet!” Fiera said, waving the meat to try and get his attention and get him focused again. The snowtracker seeker looked up at her again and began making his way over again, albeit... a lot slower than Fiera would have liked. He picked his way over the tires carefully, watching his step. Fiera was glad he was using his brain and paying attention- that was one thing she wanted out of this for sure- but did he have to go so slowly? This wasn’t exactly what she’d call high octane action, and he was still brushing the tires as he walked over them. Oh well... she could work on getting her pet to speed up some. Finally he reached her, and his well earned reward.

She wasn’t as happy as she could be, but Fiera was still sure to give Donner some verbal praise and tossed him the piece of jerky. His teeth snapped shut over it violently before it had dropped even a few inches, making Fiera glad she hadn’t tried to hand feed him. He crunched loudly on the chilled meat as Fiera crept around to another spot on the circular patch of tires, which would obligate Donner to walk through them again if he wanted to get back over to her. Luckily for her however, Donner didn’t notice right away and by the time he had finished chewing up the jerky strip Fiera was already in position again with another treat. “Donner, come here!” She called, holding it out. Donner growled softly and looked at the tires he now knew were there, no doubt loathing their entire existence. This time however, Fiera got out... two strips of jerky. With the enticement of the second treat, Donner seemed finally motivated to actually move, picking his way across the tires again. He was still quite slow, but Fiera could tell he was at least making the effort to try and speed up.

It was awkward and stumbling, but Donner did appear to make it over to Fiera faster that time. He wasn’t... graceful in any definition of the word, though. It was kind of embarrassing, and if these tires were, say, licking flames from an opponent’s attack, Donner would have been heavily injured just now. They had to try harder. Still, he had earned his treat, and had done better than last time. She dropped the pieces down for the seeker and immediately made a beeline for another side of the circle while he ate. She could feel his eyes following her, but Donner didn’t get up and move. It must have been apparent to him what she was trying to do by this point, and Fiera knew that if he followed her around the edge, he wouldn’t be getting any treats. When she reached the other side however, she didn’t feel the need for pretense. Instead she just got out another piece of meat and waved it around. “Ok Donner, let’s try this again!” She called. The seeker bunched himself up this time, readying himself for the obstacle course ahead of him. Hopefully, he’d do better this time.

The next time Donner tackled the tires... Fiera had to admit, she saw some improvement. He was touching them a lot less now, high stepping and managing to guess where the center of the next one was under the snow. He wasn’t always accurate and sometimes he’d put his foot down a little TOO lightly and nearly trio himself in the process, but it was clear he was starting to get the hang of this. After he got about halfway across he didn’t even bother glancing back at his own feet anymore, and instead did his best to keep his eyes on what was ahead of him, calculating where to step once his feet actually got that far. He was trying to think ahead! Much better than what he was doing before, just trying to strong arm his way through the exercise. By the time he finally reached Fiera, he was breathing pretty hard- this wasn’t easy work- but his time was much better than before. The humanish smirked and dropped his jerky. “Good job, Donner!” She said before sauntering off again. It was time to try again- and see just how quickly she could get her seeker to do this.

A few more tries later, and it was clear that Donner’s dexterity had improved immensely. It took Fiera over an hour of standing in the freezing cold of course but hey, journeys of a thousand miles begin with one step and whatnot. The point was that now when Fiera stood opposite from Donner on the field of tires (which were now pretty free of snow from the pair of them running wild over them), the seeker effortlessly leapt through the field, carefully putting his feet down and calculating his next stride to land perfectly. If an outside observer was watching him from just the knees up, they’d never guess there were any tires there at all. Fiera couldn’t remember the last time he even touched one, or stumbled in putting his foot down. He had it down perfectly. She tossed the snowtracker seeker another piece of jerky as he skidded to a stop in front of her. Now hopefully whenever an opponent made the battlefield particularly dangerous, he would navigate its troubles with ease. Now that he had been trained to Fiera’s satisfaction however, the humanish figured they could head home... and finally get out of this awful weather, she thought with a shiver.

It seemed that almost just as soon as she had left, Fiera was now back at the training gym. For good reason of course, though. She had made a lot of progress with Donner’s battle training since she was last here (and had a… rather interesting encounter with some plants), and was now ready to get back to teaching him how to be more dexterous. Yes, she was going for dexterity again, hopefully for the last time. He had progressed a lot last time and she was sure that he was better than he was when they started… but she felt that she could push him just that little bit more. Any amount of improvement would be useful- Fiera knew that they would have some stiff competition in the upcoming tournament. Donner’s abilities would need to be turned up to eleven if they were going to survive. That is, if he was going to survive. “You might not like it Donner, but I swear this is for your own good!” Fiera chirped as she practically dragged the seeker down the street in the direction of the training gym. The thick furred creature simply huffed and glared at her- the only response needed for her overly chirpy attitude. Fiera 1 Donner 18.1/9.1 1

The training gym was… well, Fiera wished she could say she expected it not to be busy so she wouldn’t have to wait in line, but she also had to be honest with herself. The Winter Wonderbrawl tournament was coming up far faster than she would like, and the gym was pretty packed as a result. Fiera was just glad that this place was huge to start with- otherwise, chances are she and Donner would never be able to find a spot to train in. As expected, Fiera had to wait in line just to get to the reception desk. She kept a tight grip on Donner’s leash, practically pinning the seeker to her side as he glared at the other pets around him. A nearby equillion snorted at him in irritation and Donner gave a low growl in return, but thankfully the other creature’s owner pulled it away before things could get any worse. Fiera huffed and tapped her foot- hopefully this wouldn’t take much longer. She wasn’t sure how much more Donner’s infamously bad sense of patience could take. Thankfully the line cleared up pretty soon after the person in front cleared up some paperwork about… shipping in a pliathor?

Hopefully that had nothing to do with this upcoming tournament. Donner was tough, but she was pretty sure she couldn’t top a pliathor. Once the equillion and its owner had both sauntered away (like owner like pet, eh?), it was Fiera’s turn to check in. She rushed through the process as quickly as possible in the hopes that the receptionist would overlook how… not fantastically friendly Donner was, and tugged the snowtracker seeker away through the halls as quickly as possible once she was done with the paperwork. He grumbled but still followed, apparently just as eager as Fiera was to get out of that reception area. His claws clacked loudly as they walked through the concrete halls of the training gym. Fiera peeked into the different rooms as she went, trying to find one that wasn’t empty. She was looking to train Donner in dexterity today, and needed to find an area that reflected that. Most of these areas were already pretty full already though, with one to three people already using the equipment within. Fiera couldn’t say she wanted to join them, though. Donner was… easily distracted by other creatures thrasing around violently, to put it gently enough.

She didn’t want to cause a scene… or, admittedly, to interact with people. Not many of the empty rooms seemed to be geared toward dexterity though, she had to note. There were a lot of weights, a lot of stones, so on and so forth… eventually however. Even the tire field they had trained in before was full already, the formerly beautiful white snow now darkened and scattered by the footsteps of endless pets. Fiera shivered- she didn’t want to go out in the snow any sooner than she needed to again anyway. She had had enough of that for one… well, she’d probably have to go out in it again. But she’d push that as far down the line as possible. Finally, she passed through another door- and was actually interested in what she saw for once. It was a rock climbing wall, of sorts. It was leaned slightly to one side though, instead of straight up and down, making it a very steep hill with a wrinkled texture and plastic grips instead. Now THAT she could use. She entered the room, tugging Donner in along with her, looking left and right. The climbing wall stretched to the far bounds of the room, about twenty feet to either side.
