He couldn’t remember if he had been to this shop before. He tried to recall as he opened the door and heard the chime. The wooden walls were quaint and homey. There was an appropriate earthy energy to the place. It was mostly peaceful.
He walked up to the counter, past the clay pots and berries, and greeted the employee. “Hi there, my name is Riku.” He put his hand to his chest as a sort of name placement, and added a smile. Then he shortly continued “I’m brand new to breeding and there’s some materials here I’d like to purchase.”
He looked around briefly again and still didn’t seem to remember the place. There weren’t any cookies on the counter, so it definitely wasn’t the other nature-y shop. He always confused this one with the Herbologist’s Delight.
Taking out a scrap of paper from his pocket, he listed them aloud. “I need some berries and Lotine Food...er, here are the specifics.” he said as he placed the sheet on the counter and flipped it around for the other person to read.
"Hullo there! Name's Turner, nice to meet you Riku!" the young man returned with a grin. The influx of customers to his shop had been quite wonderful, the return of orbaru being willing to breed being quite the boon to him! "Getting started with breeding critters, huh? Well, this is the right place to get going!" he beamed, taking the list gingerly and scanning over it to get a start. A beautiful rainbow fish to be netted from the tank and put aside in it's own clear bag of water, and a small open berry basket to keep the produce from getting squished. "So, the Lotine food, three each of Feminity, Abundance, and Baby fruits and berries... That's four-twenty-five so far, unless you're looking for anything else?" Turner listed off as he finished bagging the berries for an easy trip home.
Riku watched as the man scanned his list. ‘Turner’, he thought to himself. It was a nice name that seemed fitting. He anxiously turned his ankle back and forth as he stood and scratched at his finger nails with the other hand. Another quick glance around the room, and watched the man fish out he magical lotine food. It was still alive...? That made him feel a bit guilty. Most of the once-living food was no longer living, which made it much easier to feed his animal friends.
He saw the man put the berries in the convenient container and then heard the price. Fortunately, he had been raised a noble and had some experience with political bargains. He held onto his smile and said “Wow, that added up fast didn’t it?” Then he made sure to discreetly check his posture for confidence and said “Do you think, since this will be my first trial run, you might slash a bit off the top for me?” He made a charming ‘slashing’ gesture with his finger and added “I’m sure if all goes well I’ll be a regular customer here stocking up for each month.” he said with ten percent added to the end of his smile.
To be fair, the shop really had been doing quite well as of late. Turner mulled on it for a moment, concluding he could likely afford a small hit on this sale just to ensure Riku might come back someday! A repeat customer was worth quite a bit to a shopkeeper. "Well, I suppose, if," he began, pausing as if contemplating the decision, "you promise to come back, I can go to... hm, three-eighty-three?"
Riku held his breath as the shopkeeper paused mid-sentence. He let out an exhale of relief when he heard the new total. It was no free meal, but it would definitely save him enough to buy a few that month! Gods knew he was low on credits after starting a service of his own. He smiled appreciatively towards Turner and responded “Thanks, I really look forward to having business with you.”
He felt warm and hopeful as he overlooked the berries in the container. They looked so plump and full of promise. He saw them as an investment - and hoped he wouldn’t fall in love with the creatures he’d be breeding for...since they were more like joyful cattle for him to sell. At least there wouldn’t be a slaughter like the expression normally goes. ”I’ve studied up on breeding these guys for a little while now. I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before I leapt in. If this month goes as well as I’ve planned I’ll be back before it’s up to stock up real good.” He said with a friendly wink.
He handed over the agreed upon credits and let the usual awkward pause of ‘is that it then?’ kick in for the other to cue him in that their deal was done.
"It's a deal, then," Turner agreed, accepting and confirming the amount of credits handed over to him. Taking up a bag for the berries in one hand, the man held it out and the lotine-feeder fish in it's bag in the other hand. The fish probably wouldn't appreciate getting shaken around alongside the other produce on the way home - and Lotine would be more pleased with higher-quality food! "I hope all goes as planned for you!"
Morgan: No one knows yet. But I did want to make it clear that the jar itself isn't used for lotine husbandry in any way. c:

Twilight-Claw: I'm only assuming that it does something similar like a Fungal Beast that infects a Leaf-scatter. (the one with moss and I think it was a pink flower growing on the head.)

Silver: I'll try it soon and we'll find out!

Silver: I don't think anyone knows yet!

Darky: What did the 'infection' do again?
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:43 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for this information, its really useful to know! <3
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:30 GMT -6
Morgan: The lolatic doesn't disappear after one use, and can be reused on the same lotine when it is allowed to 'infect' a lotine- to my knowledge.
Jun 5, 2020 1:41:37 GMT -6
Morgan: The only effect/thing that the jar can be used for is to open up into a lolatic. The jar itself has no use in lotine breedings.
Jun 5, 2020 1:39:52 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: and the jar is then gone, if with the creature I am more guessing with this the creature doesn't disappear and it has unlimited use.
Jun 5, 2020 0:17:55 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Something else I am wondering about with the Lotine breeding is whether one would use the jar the Lolatic comes from in the breeding, or actually the creature itself. I'm assuming with it if its the jar, then it gives people only one shot in a breeding,

Twilight-Claw: Then using it in my rps is definitely just for the sake of rp's and not for anything additional.
Jun 5, 2020 0:12:17 GMT -6
Renathan: Fish are unlimited use once bought though. c:
Jun 4, 2020 22:31:17 GMT -6
Renathan: There's no additional effect for adding a fish to a magical berry in a lotine breeding. Magical Berry is kinda it's own thing. Adding a fish for roleplay value shouldn't hurt, but it has no effect when used on a magical berry lotine breeding.
Jun 4, 2020 22:27:14 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: be just for the sake of rp, and perhaps seeing if it might lent a bigger chance to multiple offspring with unique pattern. X3
Jun 4, 2020 15:31:01 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I think your right on it being unlimited use yeah, although.. *cough* I only found out a couple hours after I started writing that I had yet to buy the fish in question so used the one you could get for free as a replacement, it still was meant to mostly
Jun 4, 2020 15:30:59 GMT -6
Riku: From what I loosely understand about the fish is that it isn't one-use, whereas the berry is. I feel like there wouldn't be any consequence of 'using' the fish...which I'd think just ooc wouldn't be counted for whatever rolls or whatever it is that it uses
Jun 3, 2020 14:14:30 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?
Jun 1, 2020 6:09:21 GMT -6
Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)
Jun 1, 2020 5:36:49 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I am still interested in trading it for a green drake.
