Morgan was... Not so sure about this. Of course, Morgan wanted to have at least one pup that was an offspring of Nico, but this was Morgan's absolutely favorite companion and best friend, and it was a little hard to imagine actually doing this. Even as Morgan sent out an ad looking for a Matronne for Nico, and then waited for a reply. They knew that there probably weren't a whole lot of adult houluh out there quite yet, so finding a mate was going to probably take a while, right? It would give Morgan enough time to come to terms with the whole being overly-protective of him thing.
In actuality, they found a really gorgeous partner for Nico's first breeding nearly immediately, and Morgan felt a little numb as they opened the front door of the Breeding Center, with Nico at a perfect heel, as Morgan held a coffee of some sort in their right hand. They took a sip as they closed the door. Alright, now to look for the only other houluh probably in the building...

Luna was an adult now and seemed to want to meet some others her age. The others in the Kennel were still younger of course, Jack had only trained her up so far, but that would change when she had some time she figured. Of course she couldn't breed in her own Kennel, but... that's where this ad came in! She had been watching the paper for a little while and finally found an add in the paper that someone had a Patronne they were wanting to breed. The picture with him had him out to be pretty handsome, so Jack had offered up Luna and that was that. She was usually pretty early whenever she met someone new, so she was sitting in the Breeding Center waiting room, her half of the paperwork filled out and in her hands with Luna wagging her tail and lounging by the fireplace. She was at ease here, or at least Jack had given her the command for it, and the little crescent moon on her muzzle shined in the light. Jack turned her head when she heard the door open and she realized there was a Houluh at the person's feet, then stood up and waved, "Hello!"2/25

Morgan tried not to be extra late often, but today was just 'one of those days'. Morgan figured that stopping to get a drink at the Catseye would help, and it did. They felt a little naked even though the were wearing more clothes since it was winter than they normally would since they decided not to wear their labcoat... This was technically a social situation, right? It was simple, really simple. Not everyone was like the Jackalope, so it shouldn't be too awkward. Professional, be professional, Morgan repeated to theirself mentally, and then they noticed the houluh. That must be the right person! They raised a hand to wave at them real quick.
Nico had already noticed the other houluh. He was normally quite aloof of other creatures in general and only payed attention to Morgan, but he was instantly interested in this one. He wagged his tail, low and loose, as soon as Morgan gave him the command for at ease, and he moved forward, stopping just short of the other houluh and sort of side-eyeing the houluh, tail wagging. He had a gist as to what was going on thanks to the emotional link.
Morgan followed, knowing that they needed to fill out the rest of the paperwork as well. Hey, this should be easy- Morgan gives a nod to the other human. "I'm Morgan, and this i-is Nico." Great, so far so good. Not being too weird, right? Nico glances up to the other human, taking his eyes off of the other houluh, and blinked good-natured-ly.

The Houluh perked up at the sight of the other canine and lifted her head to watch as he walked over. She tilted her head a little and gave a small, low woof of greeting, wagging her own tail in response. While she wasn't linked to the woman like some of the other animals were, she could catch bits and pieces from her sometimes, they were close. Something big was going to happen, it was excitement and amusement coming from her when she could catch it at this point. Giving a stretch and a big yawn, she stood up and shook off her coat before leaning in to sniff at Nico a little bit.
"Jack, and this is Luna, nice to meet you!" the woman said with a smile, handing over the paperwork for the other person to fill out. Luna glanced over at her when she heard her name, but when nothing else was said and Jack wasn't even looking at her, she turned back to Nico with a head tilt, ears flopping over onto one side of her head.

The bark was low, and Nico was a little surprised at first. It was almost as if he hadn't heard another houluh bark before, at least not in a building, or maybe it was just that he hadn't heard one bark that was also an adult. It was a quiet nose, and it was exciting actually! Nico wagged his tail a little quicker, but thought better of barking. He was a little stiff-legged, if only because he wasn't used to this amount of excitement either, but when the other houluh came over to sniff him, he leaned forward and sniffed as well. It would seem that this natural activity was not something that had to be taught. He sniffed about the other houluh's muzzle with curiosity. He decided that he liked this other houluh pretty much immediately.
Morgan on the other hand was always a little more stiff and careful than Nico. It came off as princely in Nico, it came off as aloof on Morgan. Morgan was glad that they weren't immediately offered a hand to shake, and instead smiled. "That is an excellent name." Morgan managed, thankfully without stuttering too much. They were so anxious that it was hard to suppress the stutter. They filled out the paperwork quite quickly. It would seem that they were very used to doing paperwork, even if they hadn't been to the breeding center often before... Once before?
When they finished and turned in the paperwork, they turned and looked down at the houluh. Well, it would seem that Nico was okay with the Matronne! That put Morgan at ease, a bit. They had been nervous that something would be wrong. This... This was okay so far, at least.

"Well, at least it fits her," Jack said a little dryly, glancing over at the crescent moon on Luna's muzzle with a smirk on her face. She hadn't been too creative with her name, but what could she really be expected to do at that point when she'd gotten her? Shaking her head a little, she waited for the person to take care of their half of the paperwork and then settled into a chair, motioning for them to follow suit, "It might be a bit before we're called back to a room, might as well have a seat, yeah?" She glanced out the window and smiled a little, the snow had settled on the ground awhile back it seemed, winter was in full swing, but it was nice and warm in the Breeding Center at least.
Another yawn and then Luna plopped down in front of the fire again after sniffing the other Houluh for a bit. He smelled quite a bit different from the others, but that was good, right? She stretched out and laid on her side, eyeing the male for a moment and then giving another low woof to invite him to curl up with her by the fire for a little while.

Morgan's eyes were drawn to the muzzle of the Matronne, and was pleased to see that it had an adorable little moon on it! What were the chances of that, Morgan wondered? They knew what the nature of white markings on houluh was, and of course it was pretty well random, but still, how gorgeous. Morgan felt a little calmer already, so it loosened them up just a tad. They did actually really like the name, though. "I-it does- she's a beat." Morgan said. They wanted to comment on her red patterning, but also really didn't want to babble a mile a minute just to make theirself feel more comfortable.
Morgan nodded, it made sense, it was logical of course. "Y-you're right. I'm distracted, th-they really do make quite the couple." Oop, babbling it is. They selected a seat, not right on top of the individual but they could see out the window. It was pretty outside, if not a little too cold for Morgan's tastes. They took a sip of their drink, still piping hot, and cast their gaze over Nico for a second, partially for moral support. At least it was warm in here!
Nico was having much less trouble than Morgan was figuring out how to be normal. He watched her curiously while standing still, trying to assess how to deal with her, and his ears went up slightly when he heard the bark. Oh, she wanted something from him? He glanced back at Morgan as if to ask if that was okay, and then scooted over to the Matronne, sitting down. The fire was... Interesting. It smelled neat. Morgan usually didn't have open fires around him, so he was both curious and a little concerned with it.

Jack gave a little chuckle and shook her head, "Oh don't worry about it, you're fine! Do you not get out with others too much?" She wasn't trying to pry, just carry a conversation, but sometimes others thought she was prying. It didn't mean she cared if they kept the conversation going, but at least she wouldn't be sitting there in awkward silence if they did decide to answer. She reached out and patted Luna on the side when she realized she was laying there next to the fireplace now, and she smiled a little again, hoping one of the pups would end up with her moon at some point.
Wriggling around a little, trying to scratch an itch on her back, she rolled back over to her belly and then reached out to nuzzle one of Nico's paws for a moment. It was fun meeting another calmish Houluh, one that was her age, once she had been shown off and grown up, the others just seemed so... childish it seemed. This one was rather calm and collected, it was nice. Sure, she was mostly still a puppy sometimes as well, but part of her had grown up, she knew when to do what now it looked like, and that was the best way to be.

It was true, and though Morgan didn't find making friends or having social outings important (this was why it was simple to communicate primarily with that Jackalope fellow, he didn't require friendship or pry or make things difficult) but they still felt a little awkward admitting it. "I uh, no." Morgan said, rubbing the back of their neck with a palm. "I don't-" Did they have to explain? Well, it sounded horrifically rude if they didn't specify why, and well. "It's kinda a lu-long story." Morgan wasn't really sure where to start. "So-" Normal, gotta find something Normal. "What do you do as a hobby?"
Nico was surprised when the Matronne touched him, but he quickly decided that he was okay with it. He settled down at that, onto his own stomach, near the Matronne. Nico had always been more of a working houluh than anything else, and though he did have down time, he really enjoyed working. He spent most of his non-working time hanging around the tat-lungs if not with Morgan, and it was... Nice to be around another Houluh. There was one more at the kennel, but she was still so young, she was even younger than he was. It was quite different!

Another chuckle and she shook her head and her hands, palms out, "I getcha, no worries!" Leaning back in her chair, she stared outside for a moment with a smile on her face as she thought of what she did as hobbies. Did she need to shorten her list, or would they get a little worried about everything she did? Jack figured she would just go for it, she usually did and there was no sense in lying to him or anything. "I do everything, really. I'm the Archmage's Understudy, I make nodes when I can, I mine, garden, go to the mansion sometimes... Then there's training, breeding, contests and tournaments!" Smiling more broadly, she looked back at them happily, "What about you? I know I go for everything I can, but most people specialize, right?"
Ah, there he went, and she was pleased he would relax a little next to her. Laying her head on her forepaws, she tilted so she could lean up against him a little if he was alright with that and closed her eyes, soaking up the warmth of the fire after the long walk to the Breeding Center in the snow. It was lovely, she could do this all day. She didn't work with any of the other animals, at least not yet, Jack wasn't quite sure what to do with her just yet, but at least she had some training to her name, and she was a wonderful companion if nothing else.

Morgan always felt a bit more comfortable when they were by theirself, and honestly they weren't all that great at small talk, but it was still something that could be comfortable if they needed to. They listened, it was more comfortable listening of course. Still; they weren't quite expecting to hear Archmage's Understudy as a position. Morgan quirked an eyebrow with interest, and thought- what are the chances? They hadn't really noticed any sort of magical signature, but of course, Morgan's status as a chaos elemental was not typically ah, noticeable. It did tend to make people feel awkward when they did find out, if they understood it at all. Morgan nodded, feeling a bit more comfortable now and shifting on the seat to put one leg on top of the other and leaning down on it with their elbows touching.
"I am a Labs Scientist. Pretty low ranking I guess though." Morgan didn't seem to worried about it. "I mostly e-explore places. I do a bit of training too, and uh, I run an estate." Morgan said. That was awkward and weird, but it was a start. "So you d-do a lot of breedings?"
Nico liked the company, and whenever the Matronne placed her head on him he gently moved forward to nudge one of her paws with his own nose. He knew why he was here, sort of anyway. Morgan had brought him here specifically to meet this other houluh, and it was helping that he actually thought she was pretty easy to get along with. She wasn't too rambunctious, but she was willing to speak her mind too. That's... Nice. He wags his tail, thumping it against the floor while looking at her.
He had forgotten the cold, it would seem.

Jack touched the nodes at her hip with a little smile playing across her lips for a moment as she listened closely to what they were saying, "It's a good start though if you want to keep going!" Leaning forward, elbows on her knees, she nodded a little as she listened some more, "Exploration is always good, it's always nice to know what's going on around you." All she could do to the question was a sheepish shrug as she rubbed the back of her head, "Well... yeah... I breed everything I can, Orbaru, Pachee, I used to breed Sarane when they weren't sterile..." Jack trailed off and looked at the two Houluh happily, watching as they leaned on each other and she shook her head slightly, "At least they're getting along it seems, that's always a good first step!"
Luna yawned a little and glanced back when she heard thumping, and she realized he was wagging his tail a little. That was good though! It meant he was happy around her, and she tentatively attempted to lick his cheek a little with a happy look in her eyes. Maybe she was a little forward, but she was a Houluh who knew what she wanted, and she seemed to be wanting Nico...

Morgan was so nervous, that they hadn't really been noticing their surroundings as much as they probably should have had. It was uncharacteristic of their usually perceptive nature, and it was a little scary to think about. "You're right there... The mansion is uh, pretty low key isn't it? I d-don't hear a lot about it, but it's really weird." Morgan mentioned, wondering what could cause such a thing. It would seem like people would talk about it a lot, but it seemed fairly hush-hush other than teenager's random jokes about it. "I know someone that d-does the whole pachee and orbaru breeding thing. Not really my cup of tea- but Sarane?" Morgan was curious about that. "I uh, own a Sarane. I don't know if I would have been i-interested in breeding them. They're a handful." Morgan said.
Morgan looked over at the Houluh for a moment and then nodded. "W-with any luck, we'll be the first ones with a litter."
Nico was perhaps a little bit dense on this matter; he did like being around this houluh, and he kinda understood that he was supposed to do something or another. However, he still wasn't sure if he was supposed to be ah, fraternizing or something else. He is licked, and he isn't sure what to do for a split second. He glances back at the humans, Morgan was looking at him, and then Morgan looked away. Okay, so this was fine. He turned over and put his nose into the Matronne's shoulder, snuffling. She was warm!

"Yeah the mansion is absolutely crazy. I try to make it every month, but it gets hard to do sometimes..." Jack trailed off with a frown. She hated not being able to do what she wanted to do all the time, but there just weren't enough hours in the day it seemed to do what she wanted to do. Pushing her hair back, she nodded happily, "Oh they're a handful alright! But that's part of what I love about them, they're rough and tumble, but that's the fun part of it all." Honestly she didn't consider herself a daredevil or something who would put thrills before practicality, but in reality, that's the kind of person she was, she loved the thrill of something new, and she leaned forward a little, "You have one huh? What kind is it?" Glancing at the Houluh pair, she grinned, "I think luck's on our side today, honestly. I haven't heard of many other adults just yet after all."
Nuzzling into him a little, Luna gave a happy, contented sigh and drifted off just enough to still know what was going on, but at the same time resting deeply. She was comfortable around him, and that's what mattered at the moment. The woman also though she was hitting it off with the other person, but that really remained to be seen. Things were a little... well... tense it felt.
