The golem looked up at the leopard, then down to the ground, seeming to consider the idea of moving off the man. It was comfortable where it was. Warm and close to the one it loved. But, it could feel his will. To go forth discover the world in a renewed sense. This was.. Conflicting. Xentus quietly watched, curious. Any other golem would step away and wait for whatever thing he desired of it next. The effect that the charm had was evident. But, reluctantly, the walker settled on sliding off the leopard and taking a look around. It had little interest in anything other than the leopard still, but enough to occupy itself with these newfound feelings. Xentus hummed and thought on where to go from here. His half of the ribbon was tucked away in his pocket.. But, he figured he'd teach the creature its name without 'cheating' as he felt it to be.

The creature having a heightened understanding of its self didn't necessarily mean it might better understand the words he spoke. Yes, perhaps more attentive and able to discern them, but not some kind of sudden prodigy. A light chuckle escaped him, entertaining briefly the thought that the little golem walker would respond flawlessly. Ah, but where would the fun be in that? His eyes settled on the creature once again. The golem seemed preoccupied in morphing its body and exploring the shapes its form could make. He felt a little bad for interrupting, but it was the best time to begin.
"Astraea", he cooed gently, a fondness laced in his tone. The glass walker was in the middle of turning the tip of one of its limbs into a more paw-like shape when the man's voice interrupted. It took a moment to process, then looked toward its bonded one with interest.

It enjoyed the sound of his voice. It enjoyed being spoken to. It was happy at this already. A ripple shuttered across the golem's squishy body, expressing its happiness in its own way. The man had its attention, though he figured he could've spoken any word and have gotten the same response. Still, he smiled at the strange little being.
"Yes, very good, Astraea", he praised, a clawed hand reaching to rub the golem's hard head-shell, "As-trae-a." Its name was spoken slowly and deliberately, emphasized greatly among the other words he spoke. With hope, the golem would come to recognize it. At the moment, it was simply delighted to receive his affection. Another ripple was sent across its body as it pressed its head into the man's hand. Ah, the leopard was endeared by it - a smile plastered itself on his muzzle. It was almost like playing with a young puppy, minus the occasional nipping teeth.

A hum sounded from the leopard's throat as he mused on how to further enrich this experience. Normally, he'd offer whatever creature he was training some kind of treat to reinforce its learnings. But there was no such equivalent that he could think of for the golem. Aside from.. Maybe glass marbles? He still hadn't completely figured out what the golem 'ate'. It was previously offered an assortment of things, from light, glass, sand, fire, electricity.. Not a single one thing could he really single out as something it absorbed. Perhaps it consumed the 'essence' of glass, which was his leading theory. But that didn't help him figure what to give the creature as a treat. For now, affection would have to do. The golems generally responded the best to that anyway. He withdrew his hand and allowed the creature a moment to settle down.
"Astraea", Xentus chimed, "You do very well, Astraea."

The white golem seemed a little saddened to have the lack of touch with its bonded one, but the sound of his voice was almost as good. The walker seemed to perk up as he spoke to it, showing that it was listening. Its inner seed floated close to an open pore on its head-shell, staring longingly at the mammalian man. It felt his will.. To impart a gift. But it had already received so much! The ribbon on its shell. The twisted ring around its core. It knew these gifts. What more was there?
"Very good, Astraea dear", the man chimed again, his soft gaze resting on the creature's inner seed. It stared back in turn, lacking much means to do so gently or otherwise. Regardless, he felt that he could see a certain glimmer in there, one that was intent on figuring what he wanted. His smile widened, and the creature's name was spoken once again.

"Astraea."
With its new keenness granted from the charm, combined its own innate desire to please its one, the golem seemed to pick up on this word... There was something special about it. The way it was said. That loving gaze. Despite being young and fresh to many of the senses and feelings it had recently developed, the golem was already growing quite used to its sense of self. And was already fond of this word its bonded spoke. This name. The creature's seed gently glowed in response, seeming even more elated than before. Seeing this, the leopard desperately wished to know what might be going on in the golem's mind. The ability to grant his wish but a ribbon-tie away.. But still, he refrained for just a while longer. Astraea was doing so well without it, he could tell. An affirmative hum escaped his throat, clawed hand again rubbing the hardened shell-head of the golem as its reward.

Xentus was pleased with the little walker's attentiveness. While attentiveness was a standard golem trait, the way Astraea responded and reacted was unique. Fascinated, the leopard was eager to see how well (or not) the walker might react to the presence of other people. In his experience in rearing these things, they were awfully defensive of anything coming near his person. He expected much the same from Astraea, but hopefully this would be easier to temper out.
The golem was scooped up into his arms and ferried toward a slightly more populated area of the park. Astraea did not object to having this closeness with its beloved bonded one, enjoying the feeling of being carried and held tight. What it did object to was the nearing presence of those other moving bodies around them. Others were a source of danger. The golem shuffled uneasily, shell-head pointed toward a nearby woman and their chiryma.

While they stood a good few yards from the pair so not to disturb their activities, it was close enough for the young glass walker to grow agitated. The golem's quirk of having innate love for only a single person was fascinating for the leopard to be on the receiving end of. But, it also was a bit of a pain when it came to calming the protective nature which this bond spurred.. Astraea's wary reaction to the woman and their pet was to be expected.
"Shh, Astraea..", the man cooed gently to the walker, "It is alright, dear Astraea. Be calm." The golem's squirming stilled for the brief moment while the leopard spoke, giving him its undivided attention. His words were heard, though their meaning was lost upon the little creature. There was its name, so surely its master addressed it with something.. But the threat of that woman there was not to be ignored.

For the first time, Astraea's head-shell began to clatter as a warning to its self-perceived adversary. It was almost like holding onto a small dog that growled at any passer-bys.. A frown curled the leopard's lip, disappointed by the apparent step back in progress. Instinct would be difficult to overcome. A soft, disapproving hum emanated from his throat, wondering what to do about this. Further exposure at a slow rate seemed like the best course of action here.
"Astraea..", the leopard lowly uttered as he sat where he stood, "Hush now. Be calm." His tone was more assertive, but still quiet and gentle. He treated the golem like a child, as it essentially was. Astraea's clattering quieted as her head pointed back toward the leopard. If it could whine, it would've. The glossy inner seed looked between its bonded one and the threatening woman-bird pair. Their presence was not appreciated still..

The golem wished not to displease its bonded one, yet also wanted to keep him safe from danger. Strange people and strange creatures were dangerous. It was conflicted about this. From their seated position, they were especially vulnerable to attack. Astraea decided to keep watch for now.. There wasn't much other choice it had.
"That's it, Astraea. See, they mean us no harm", Xentus continued to quietly reassure the golem, "Shh, be calm." This would be a test of patience. Thankfully, the mammalian had plenty of that. The plan was to sit there and wait until the golem finally realized the strangers weren't anything to be wary of. How long this might take.. He was uncertain. He held onto the creature and continued to gently hush it. The golem's body was tense and nervous in the leopard's grip, an odd sensation to feel from a being that lacked any true innards.

Xentus wanted to keep his focus on the golem, to calm it and to help channel his will toward the strange elemental being.. But the sudden 'kwaa!' chirped by the large bird none too far away caught his attention. Astraea was startled by it, rousing the return of her head-shell clattering. Over to the side, the woman was showering the chiryma with praise - sparking the creature into celebration. Seems that they'd accomplished something over there. While the leopard was happy for them, the commotion spurred the golem a step back in progress.
"Astraea dear, come now. You were doing so well..", the man sighed, "Hush, hush. It is okay. Be calm." A clawed hand rubbed the golem's body as the calming words were spoken, hoping to quiet the irritated clatter. Thankfully his attempt proved fruitful quickly enough. Astraea sunk down in his arms a bit, quiet now, but still worried about those strangers over there.

Time passed slowly. Not that the leopard minded. He continued to hush and coo in a quiet tone. The golem, on the other hand, felt each passing second as they ticked by. Its heightened awareness brought it a sense for the passage of time; a feeling that was almost grating when put to the test - as it was now. Astraea watched with great alarm in the next couple of minutes.. Then began sulking after another few. At no point was the woman and her pet ignored, but after a while waiting like this, the golem calmed to the point of being aware, yet passive. The threat didn't act with hostility in its observations. No reason to be spurred to action. And the quiet reassurance of the leopard finally set in.
"Very good, Astraea. Yes, be calm", the leopard praised gently, seeing the golem somewhat relaxed. Its body wasn't tense at least, which was progress.

A clawed hand pet across the top of the creature's head-shell, stroking the marble-like surface to both praise and comfort. Astraea seemed to appreciate the gesture, leaning into the touch. It had done something right, somehow. It didn't spur disappointment from its beloved bonded, at least, which it had been doing inadvertently. This felt good. And finally, the golem tore its sight away from the threat it had been staring down these last few minutes and turned its gaze toward the leopard. There was this strange smile on his face. Pleased, yet resigned.
"Right then, let us get closer now, yes?", the man gently told the golem in words it did not fully understand. But his actions, now those it understood. It was lifted up as the man stood from his spot and ferried closer toward the woman and her pet. The potential threats. The wariness returned, causing Astraea to squirm uncomfortably.

"Astraea must come to trust this one better, he believes", the leopard murmured with a saddened tone, "Xentus would not bring us to harm, do not be tense dear. Be calm." Of course, this was not a matter of in trust of his own actions, but rather distrust in others. Not that the golem knew what he spoke of either way. It was the tone that resonated with it the most. That sad, reassuring plead. It seemed to take a moment to consider what was going on exactly. They neared the supposed threat, but went ignored by them. The leopard tried his best to reassure the lack of need for alarm. It.. Slowly came to resign its nervousness. The tension in its body eased.
"That's it, Astraea. Very good", the man gently praised, coming to a stop before he encroached too near to the woman and her bird. Xentus gave the golem another pet of praise, and another moment to relax.

A glance up toward the apparent adversaries revealed that their attentions had been garnered at this point. While Xentus wasn't purposefully trying to remain inconspicuous, he didn't want to disturb them either. Eyes met, and a friendly smile passed both ways. At this point, the leopard figured that Astraea would need to feel comfortable in close proximity to those that were not himself. And at least if not comfortable, relaxed enough that it wouldn't cause a fuss.
"Ya alright over there?", the foreign voice called out. And once again, Astraea became tense. The leopard could feel her form trying to fight off the desire to be wary of this unwanted attention. He gently cooed to the creature before turning his attention toward the woman.
"Ah, if it is no disturbance, might this one ask for help?", he replied, an idea crossing his mind. Having her and the bird draw near to them might help seal in this current lesson.. Or break it entirely.
