Auburn quickly grabs the newest seed, but isn't sure what to do with it. Should she eat it? She swoops near Renathan but does not drop the seed into his hand, instead she simply flies around with it. Renathan calls her back to his hand and then lets her eat the seed, petting her on the head and giving her lots of positive words to make her feel like she did good. Now, it was time to try it with the yarn ball. Renathan tossed the yarn ball this time, "Bres'krei!". At this, the tiny bird was able to fly out and grab the yarn ball, and instead of trying to bring it back she simply flew with it. After he calls her back to his hand, he gives her a seed in return for it. Renathan then spends some more time alternating between the two commands to really cement that they were separate commands altogether. Renathan is finally pleased with her ability to tell the difference, and he calls her back to his hand proudly.
After this, they leave to go do some of the other chores of the day, Renathan was quite pleased with their work.

After the Mansion trip in the snow, Renathan came home with not one, but two birds! Auburn had found a friend it seemed, or perhaps he had done so; and they brought home a strange red, four legged animal thing. He was still trying to figure out exactly what was best to feed it, in fact. However, after getting some rest the next two days, Renathan decided that it was time to go training again. Renathan desperately wanted to finish out the battle training for Shy Guy, as well as Auburn's more technical training. He decided that he needed to start today, because today he noticed something that the jibiji did that he really wanted to get attached to a command. Renathan had accidentally discovered Auburn making snow somehow, from underneath her wings, to impress the young Lisle. So he knew that he should give Lisle a rest today and take Auburn to the park to train her how to do that thing on command.

Renathan had already had some other things planned to be trained on the next training trip; but he felt like this supplanted that a little bit. He hoped that he could get this trained quickly and maybe knock out all of the colors today, but he figured he would see how quickly Auburn would work today. He'd been spoiled a bit, working with Lisle, who had that whole chiryma learning thing going on. Auburn was incredibly speedy only because they had been working together so long, so he knew he'd probably have to work on his patience yet again. Renathan sits the jibiji down on the table gently, used to working with both tiny birdlets and absolutely huge horses both, and then gives her a gentle pet. Being around Auburn was the easiest thing ever; she was just so happy. The link was full of love and light, and it made the creature surprisingly disarming.

Renathan let himself sink into the cozy emotional link without any issues, it was a little shocking switching from working with Lisle and working with Auburn, since they were nearly polar opposites in nearly every sense he could think of. Renathan wondered lightly how to get the creature to do the snow thing again. He figured that it was probably some previously unknown behavior caused by the injection he'd given her a long time ago in hopes of giving her something to protect herself with. Renathan was cautious as he gently touched her wing, coaxing her to open one so that he could see beneath it. Renathan inspected the underside of the wing, checking the feathers first, and then closer to the wing joint. He was a bit shocked that he hadn't noticed it before, but the underside of her wing close to the wing joint was... Cold. He wasn't sure what that meant, but he was beginning to infer.

As Renathan felt underneath the wing, he could just barely, as he didn't want to hurt her, feel some kind of cold energy in her wing. Renathan allowed her to tuck her wing in, and he gently petted her to let her know that she was good and not to be worried. Then, Renathan came up with a first idea on how to possibly train this odd behavior. Renathan called her out into the snow that was on the ground, and then called out the command they would be using. "Auburn, Comeit!" Auburn immediately paid attention, having been used to her name thanks to their strong bond by now, and Renathan then took as much of the powdery snow in his hands as possible and tossed it up in the air. The bird looked quite happy and amused by the sudden shower of snow, but didn't seem to get it thusfar. That was fine, Renathan thought.

Renathan knew that they would get there eventually; as always! Renathan pet the creature, and then pointed underneath her wing, touching the cold spot with his undoubtedly fiery-hot in comparison forefinger. "Auburn, Comeit." He said, and then he moved back and waited. The jibiji looked underneath her wing curiously, and then looked up at Renathan again, tilting her head in an uncannily curious way. Renathan threw some of the snow in the air again. "Comeit." Renathan repeated. The creature had learned a long time ago, perhaps due to her own species' famous songs, that different noises meant different things. She tended to infer pretty quickly as to what these things were supposed to be connected to. After all, the noise jibiji made for food and the noise jibiji made to attract mates were completely different. She looks up at the snow a little dully at first, watching it filter down through the air to the ground.

Renathan watched Auburn's eyes, trying to get some kind of indication that she would get this sooner or later. He supposed that he could just wait until she did this behavior again naturally, but he knew that he hadn't seen her do it before just yesterday, and he was afraid it would take just as long for her to do it again naturally. Renathan then touches the underside of her wing near the joint that was cold again, and he called out the command yet again. "Auburn, Comeit." He specified. The jibiji wanted to please him of course, and looked at the underside of her wing again. She knew that she hadn't done the right thing yet, because she hadn't been treated yet. She looks at the snow, knowing that it was important, and then back at her wing. She didn't really get it quite yet... Renathan picked up another bunch of snow, and allowed it to drift to the ground. "Comeit."

Suddenly, something seemed to pass in front of Auburn's eyes, something that fixed them on the snow. Renathan could feel through the link some kind of click, and then a bit of excitement as the jibiji seemed to think it had gotten what Renathan wanted. Renathan let the rest of the snow out of his hand, and then called out the command again. "Auburn, Comeit." Auburn took her chance and kind of jumped up; doing a bit of a funny dance; opening her wing mid-air and allowing a small puff of snow emanate from just below her wing. Renathan was excited, and it definitely went through the link, because Auburn immediately seemed also just as happy. Renathan treated the creature with a small seed for her trouble, glad that they were finally getting somewhere with this training. Auburn had figured it out, mostly by herself! Renathan couldn't be prouder, he figured, than he was right then.

Renathan had a lot to do today, and he was glad that at this rate he would be able to finish this sooner rather than later. He knew that Lisle was going to start molting soon, and he needed to be home when the creature was doing that, and he still wanted to work with Auburn's training today, so that the list could be shortened a bit. Renathan waited until Auburn finished off her seed snack and tossed the shell of the seed away before Renathan continued with the command. "Auburn, Comeit!" He wasn't shocked whenever Auburn leapt up again, flashing her wings a little easier this time and releasing a strong puff of powdery snow from beneath her wings. It wasn't actually coming from the wing, so much as it was forming beneath the wing; as if the moisture in the air was so cold that it turned to snow and dropped. Renathan was very pleased, and gave her another seed.

Auburn took the seed happily and began to chew it open noisily. Renathan could not even imagine what would allow the creature to do this, or why she never showed off with it before. Maybe she just realized that she could do it recently? Or maybe it took a lot of energy and she didn't feel like wasting all that energy for no discernible reason all the time... Renathan could, however, see her being commanded to do this in the face of an enemy to cause them issues seeing her. After the incident with Lisle, Renathan was afraid for the safety of all of his pets, anything defensive that he could teach was certainly important. He was even thinking about giving Shy Guy some extra training for battle, after giving him an injection possibly. As soon as Auburn finished her treat, Renathan called out the command again, "Auburn, Comeit!" The creature jumped up again easily enough, exuding a good small wintry gust of powder snow this time from under her wings.

Renathan gave her another seed, and then waited until his beloved jibiji was finished with her seed before continuing. "Auburn, Comeit!" Renathan was pleased to see her immediately respond with a flurry of powder snow, now quite acrobatic with it, and very good at it. Renathan was pleased, and gave her another seed for the trouble, and lots of positive reinforcement. Auburn was easier to work with, but a bit slower than Lisle; but only just a bit. He was really spoiled by Auburn being so kind and easy to work with. Renathan worked with her for the next thirty minutes, repeating the command and then getting a good response for his trouble, and giving her a seed, all repeatedly. Then, he tried to mix it up by giving her a wrong but similar command, which did not trick her at all. Renathan was incredibly pleased, and after working with her for another fifteen minutes back and forth, he was pleased with her ability to perform this behavior.

Renathan decided to move onto the next piece of training; he was going to finish out the color training for Auburn the best he could, and then he would see about another set if they got done sooner rather than later with the color training. He had so many things to do today, after all. He really needed to work with some of his other creatures too... Renathan sighed a bit. He was quite busy all the time, and he was really feeling quite alone. He was also beginning to realize that the orbaru were definitely sterile somehow again, and that made him so very sad. Renathan looked out over the snowy landscape as Auburn finished her latest seed from the snow behavior training. He hoped that warm weather would come soon, because he was tired of this hot-cold-hot-cold and the endless winter weather. Renathan pulled three of the colored yarn balls from his backpack, not really caring about the colors as long as there was a blue one in there.

Renathan carefully placed the yarn balls down, a blue one next to an orange one, then next to a green one. Renathan had trained her quite often, and knew from previous work that she knew her colors quite well; and might even see them better than he did. That meant that the colors of the other two yarn balls would probably never trick her. He knew that some of his other creatures would probably be color blind and wouldn't be able to learn this skill; but birds didn't seem to have that problem in general. Renathan was pleased to see Auburn already coming over to check out the yarn balls. She remembered these from the last few times. Renathan decided to get a move on, and he touched the blue ball, immediately drawing Auburn's bubbly attention to it. "Lae." He said. "Laaaee. Lae." He repeated again, gesturing toward it. Immediately, the tiny jbiji came over to the one he was pointing at, touching it.

Renathan pet her on the head to encourage that behavior, and then he mixed all of the yarn balls up. Auburn looked at all of them quickly, and then looked up at Renathan expectantly. Renathan was glad that she was beginning to catch on that she would know exactly which one to go get as soon as he gave the word. Renathan called out the command, "Lae!" Giving no indication physically as to which of the yarn balls was the correct one for her to react to. Renathan was very pleased to see her continuing to pick up her colors just as fast. Probably a bird thing, Renathan thought. Or maybe it was just a jibiji thing. Or maybe just an Auburn thing, he really had no idea. Auburn rushed forward and grabbed the blue yarn ball without any issues, just as Renathan had indicated previously. Renathan gave her a seed in return for the yarn ball, finding her incredibly cute, holding it up for him like that.

Auburn quickly tucks into the newest seed, and Renathan drew his own attention away and toward the yarn balls, mixing them up again. He wasn't really even sure why he was mixing them up at this point, since he could tell that she was just very good at picking out the colors. Then again, she'd really be a sad critter if she could see them really well and was still having a hard time with colors at this point; because they were most of the way through the rainbow now. It was actually quite comical to think about, causing Renathan to chuckle beneath his breath. As soon as the yarn balls were mixed up, Renathan turned his attention to the jibiji that was finishing her seed at about that time anyway, discarding the seed shell that was now empty. He called out the command again, and then treated her when she quickly picked up the blue yarn ball properly.
