Renathan generally had different kinds of trainer-pet bonds with all of his creatures, but he wasn't sure what to think of this one. He understood that she'd kind of accidentally become his familiar; and it made sense because they seemed like perfect opposites a lot of the time, but it made him very protective of her. Like she was a piece of his soul or something; and he wasn't the kind of person that put much stock in that kind of nonsense. Still, knowing that he was training her to be ruthless... That was too much. He swallows, and then continues. "Auburn, Læntaari!" The jibiji seems to be trying to figure out what to do, and Renathan wanted to give her a moment to try to remember before reiterating it. Then, suddenly, she shifts into a cutesie pose; this time focusing towards the grubble from the get-go. Yes, that was it! Renathan quickly gives her a small seed and pets her tiny little birdie head. Yes, that was good so far.

The jibiji quickly eats her little seed prize as Renathan sits there trying off and on to not get sick. This was going quite well, and he was pleased with that part, but he knew that soon she'd be good enough at this to cause some... Well, maybe not some real damage but some okayish damage and that could be the worst thing he's probably done. Sarane fight as part of their natural course; but these tiny birds... Not. He waits until she is finished with the seed and then he points at the grubble again. "Auburn, Læntaari!" As soon as he said this, she readied herself again, looking cute, utterly delicious, and small. That was just... just Heartbreaking. He swallows and then cracks as he gives the command for her to scratch the 'opponent' grubble. She easily performs that command as well. This was just... Just not good today. Renathan swallowed and focuses on something far in the distance even as he gives the jbiji her treat for a job well done.

Renathan steadies his breathing after a moment and swallows; he'd nearly been sick again. He'd have to continue this part of the training so that she would... Well, get it as well as she could for such a small, tiny, sweet little creature. He almost couldn't take this; he didn't want to turn her into a killer like he had with Daughter of Wands. Then, it occurs to him; was that really how he had felt about that? Was that the issue? Renathan hard pushes this idea down, along with the swallow that he physically made at that point. He didn't want to think about that; certainly not right now. Renathan repeats the training with the small jibiji to distract himself, trying to keep his mind to the absolute basics about this; repeat the command; the creature would do the cutsie action, and then Renathan would order her to hurt the mock 'opponent' grubble. Then a treat was issued.

Renathan continued the training pattern three more times, with the command, the reaction, the next command, and the reaction before giving her another seed. Then he decided to give it a break for a quick moment while he took a gulp of water in an attempt to steady himself. It was really not healthy for him to feel this way about any kind of a training. What made the battle training with his equillion so different, right? He tried to push it from his mind yet again, with a bit more success. He steeled himself for a quick moment while the jibiji finished her tiny seed treat. Now it was time to make this a little more interesting he guess. He removes the little grubble from the table and instead picks up the jibiji and takes them out to the grass. He hated this idea of this part; but it had to be done.

Renathan now sits in the grass, his arm held close to the tiny jibiji. He then gives the first command, "Auburn, Læntaari!" The creature seemed confused at first; looking for her opponent; and then finally seems to click that it was... Him? She wants to refuse, but Renathan held his arm out resolutely, ready. In some strange way, he kind of felt like he deserved this anyway. The tiny creature opens it's bright, shimmery blue eyes and looks incredibly cute, small, and delectable, and then Renathan swallows, brings his hand closer, and forces himself not to turn away. He solemnly gives the command for her to scratch him. His beloved jibiji is loyal above all else; Renathan watches in what could have been horror as his beloved little good natured bird turned into a predator in a second. A slight flinch precludes her launching herself at his arm and giving a good attempted scratch. Renathan swallows, feeling just the most minor of scratches open on his arm. He then is quick to give her a nice seed; and she takes it with yet another flinch.
He could easily be ill.

Renathan waits until the tiny jibiji is more interested in her seed than him to recoil his arm and check it out curiously. Only a single tiny blood speck welled up on his arm, it was infinitely minute in comparison to everything he was filling inside. Like a storm, in a bottle perhaps. He felt like he needed to run, as far away as possible, as fast as possible. He controls this need to run with extreme abandon; withdrawing within himself for a moment to steel himself again. He'd have to repeat this, again and again. They do; spending the next hour repeating this deceptive luring command and practicing on his hand and arm; until he just didn't feel anything anymore. He stared and kind of felt empty for a moment, watching her eat the last seed after the hour. His arm hardly looked like anything had happened to it at all thanks to her little strength; nothing like the ripped guts of the drakes in the pit. He doesn't feel proud; he doesn't feel anything at all. But he knows that the tiny jibiji seems to have this down pat. He scoops her up, places her in his braids so that she could cling; and then walks away; barely remembering to walk back to grab the cage of grubbles on the way out.

Renathan was glad to be working with his Jibiji again today. He was feeling much better than usual, and was glad that he would be training his Jibiji some hopefully far more friendly tricks than the past few they'd worked on. It was quite chilly outside, but it hardly seemed to bother the Jibiji; who was very cold oriented, at least. He'd gotten her a new collar as well; quite light-weight for how fluffy it was. The tiny jibiji had it gently but snuggly placed on her fluffy shoulders; it would easily break away if the need arose, but it was quite pretty. Deep brown, with cream fluff and a cute little pink bell! Renathan had a ton of them made, in all different sizes. It was only fitting that Auburn get one first, after all! Renathan steps out toward their usual spot, his thick paw pads still quite cold against the snow. As soon as he gets to the walnut-wood bench, Renathan sits Auburn down on the top, while he sits down on the seat after brushing off some snow.

Renathan figured that this next trick would be rather easy. He wanted to work up to teaching the dodging instinct. He knew that to some degree, his magic would protect her, though he wasn't sure how he felt that. However, he didn't want her to get hurt. She was so small and innocent, and so happy. He was afraid of her getting hurt in battle at all. He was considering putting her into a tournament a while back, and chickened out. Perhaps if another petite tournament showed up he'd put her through it just to try out some of their work. He had been afraid that if she had been hurt, that he would feel the effects as well, as a drain on their magic. He wished sometimes that he knew how magic worked at all. He had found out afterward that it wouldn't have effected the bond at all, but it had been quite frightening! Renathan leans forward and pets the jibiji gently on her back and head, and she trills a high pitched and happy noise.

The jibiji did seem to love the cold weather a ton more than the hot weather in the summer; she didn't get sick, thank goodness, since they were in the City. The weather was much more mild in the City than some of the other areas around, and it benefited Auburn quite a lot! Only the hottest days in summer, and the hottest parts of the Workshop were too much for the tiny bird. Her ultra fluffy-feathers made heat a danger for her. Renathan had never really considered that until her change, that the winter coat could make it too hot for a creature in the summer. Auburn really opened his eyes a lot to all the creatures' varying needs. After petting the small creature, he decided which of the agendas they'd work on today. He wanted to teach her to land on command; but not specifically on his finger. He'd already trained her to land on his hand, but he wanted to make it a more loose command.

Renathan considers carefully how he was going to teach this particular trick. He knew that she would typically catch on to things a lot quicker than some of the other creatures of his. Between the jibiji and his equillion, the jibiji was just a little faster. However, he didn't want to confuse this command with some of the other commands they already had down pat. For him, that could quite possibly be the hardest part of training an already well-trained critter. Renathan stops petting the jibiji and then puts on his more serious face; she was already quite used to this, reading his body language and all. She focuses on his face very intently; her bright blue eyes shimmering in the white light from the snow. Renathan continues, with a command to get her into the air. He'd trained her to fly a while back, in leaps and bounds. The tiny jibji flies up and around, her large and powerful wings (for a jibji) making it quite a bit easier for her.

Renathan could easily get very used to seeing the jibiji just fly around. He was very glad that she was quite attached to him, because he figured that most birds would simply fly away if they weren't attached to an owner. Renathan then decided that it would be easiest to do this by utilizing her favorite seeds. Renathan takes a dark seed from his pocket, and then he tosses it on the table while calling out the command, "Auburn, Ri!" The tiny jibiji had been listening for a command, because she knew the typical rundown with their training exercises. Renathan is happy to see the Jibiji circle around in the air one more time before diving sharply; perhaps a little too sharply- at the table. The tiny creature however lands very gently on the table near the dark seed. Renathan is happy to watch her gobble up the seed quickly, holding it in her tiny arms and up to her face before nibbling.

Renathan watches quietly as the tiny jibiji sits atop the snow-covered black walnut wood park bench top while eating her little seed. Renathan hoped he'd have the time to take her out to the Mansion this month. The snowy area would be super interesting, and he really wanted to figure out if there was some kind of neat critter there this month. Renathan carefully pets her on her head after she finishes the seed, to give her some extra positivity, since she did well. He waits for a moment, and then calls the tiny jibiji up to the air again. Auburn easily transfers herself into the air with a few beats of her wings. It was almost like she was a little better at flying in the winter time too; but that was probably just her reaction to the cold being less extreme than her reactions to the heat of summer. Perhaps she could breathe better in the winter? Bird flight was interesting, and Renathan wanted to study it, as per everything else.

Renathan once again repeats the previous work; to really drive the command home. He tosses one of the medium-colored seeds down on the table, and calls out "Ri!" At the same time. The jibji sees it, thanks to her big eyes, and hears the command thanks to her soft and cute ears. Auburn swoops down at that same daring angle and lands softly, barely stirring the snow atop of the park bench. She picks up the seed and raises it to her beak, breaking into it easily, holding it in her front limbs. Renathan watches her with his bright pink eyes, happy to see her doing so well. However, she did well often, so it wasn't quite surprising. He knew that she would probably have a more difficult time with the dodging thing; and he hated training that anyway to be truthful. Something just felt very wrong about throwing things at an animal. Especially one so fragile as Auburn!

Renathan once again watches the cute jibiji carefully finish her seed. He didn't want her to try flying while eating the seed, as he figured that she would accidentally hurt herself or choke on the edible, which would be difficult to treat her for. He didn't think he'd have time to get her to the vet, or a healer for that matter. The jibiji finishes her seed treat soon enough, and discards the seed casing close to where the other one was. He was quite happy to see her enjoying her treats so well! Renathan orders the jibiji up into the air again, and then quickly calls out the command, "Ri!", almost forgetting to throw down the seed as well! Still, even without the seed at first, the jibijii knew that she needed to land. She had already began the steep dive to the table. She does receive her seed reward at the end; a light seed this time.

The jibji lifts up the seed using her front limbs quite happily, and brings it to her beak to begin opening the seed casing. Renathan once again gives her a little pet on her back, careful not to bob her head while she was eating the soft inside of the light colored seed. Renathan was glad that the first part of today was going to be quite easy on both of them. He wondered if there was going to be an easier way of training Danger Sense that might not require him to be, in his mind, possibly a severe danger to his sweet little jibiji. Throwing a rock in the general direction of a sarane was, after all, much less danger than throwing even a pebble at a tiny, fragile bird. Renathan thinks about this as he watches the jibiji finish her treat and chuck the seed casing away. Renathan immediately orders her up into the air, still marveling at her athleticism.
