Each time, Nadia took herself further. Having her back turned was not something Gelert enjoyed from her, and she found herself needing to correct him on following her a few times, but that was okay. She was grateful that teaching him to follow in future would be simple if this was anything to go by! Plus, it was a show of his loyalty. There was a positive side to mistakes. "Stay, Gelert," She said as she began the longest trek yet. This time, she didn't start off by backing away - she turned her back immediately and began to stride off. Whether Gelert had gotten sick of her or not, she didn't know, but he was laying down when she cast a look over her shoulder, watching her as she went. "Good boy. Stay. What a good boy." At last, she was satisfied with his progress, and they could wrap up for the day. (Gelert - 5/5 Nadia - 10/10 Stay, 5)

The time had come for puppy training. Once more, Nadia was making her way to the park with a puppy in tow; Mabel was a darn sight more energetic than even Hael had been, and was pacing ahead of her, her tail wagging in a circular motion. "Mabel!" There was no recognition from the houluh, as was expected, but that is what they were there to work on! All good things to those who wait. Nadia had packed her bag full of treats, toys and tools that would benefit their training. Even the most hyperactive of creatures would be unable to resist! "Mabel. Hey."It was a good thing that she'd spent some time with the houluh beforehand, to get her accustomed to her presence. Otherwise, she had no doubt that the little thing would have sprinted off in another direction and ignored her altogether. At last, they were at the plot.(Mabel - 1/5 Nadia - 1/10 Name, 1)

Nadia was grateful that her area was fenced off. There would've been a great deal of chaos should her companions have been allowed to run all over the place! Most of them were friendly, but she didn't trust that other trainers kept quite such benevolent pets. A little bit of unpacking was due. There was a little pack of meaty treats that would no doubt get Mabel's attention! Like magic, when she ripped the bag open, she saw the houluh's head snap eagerly in her direction. "Mabel!" She enunciated. The puppy blinked at her. With a smile, she tossed her a treat to reward her for giving attention to her name. "Yes, very good! There you go." The treat was practically inhaled. She can't have even chewed it before it was swallowed! Nadia did worry that they'd get them lodged in their throats, but it hadn't happened to her yet. (Mabel - 2/5 Nadia - 2/10 Name, 2)

Being distracted by all and sundry was nothing new to Nadia. This was her third time around - she liked to think she had a solid foundation of knowledge regarding how to raise houluh pups! Still, there was a lot to learn before she reached champion level. Her elder houluh were doing well, but there was a long way to go. Mabel had moved on to something else before the woman could even blink. The flowers, the grass, it was all so exciting! She was nipping at it with glee when Nadia fished for another treat. "Mabel! Maaaabel!" The fluctuating tone of voice had helped in the past. Creatures found it interesting! Especially youngsters like Mabel; she cocked her head at the unusual noise, distracted from the dandelion fluttering in front of her face. "Good girl! Here you go!" The treat had barely touched the ground before it was snapped up. (Mabel - 3/5 Nadia - 3/10 Name, 3)

Names were the simplest thing to train, but arguably the most important. Nadia had a number of companions, and being able to distinguish them made all the difference. Them being able to distinguish themselves was a game changer. She could only imagine the nightmare of her puppies running in a confused mess, and her unable to call one away. They had to start weaning the treats away. Nadia split one in half to start the process. "Mabel!" Perhaps the houluh had cottoned on that she got food as a reward for responding, because she perked up, nose twitching. "There's a good girl. Here you go!" It was less than was expected, but still a treat! The houluh watched the woman, as if waiting to see if there was more. When nothing came, she decided to go back to her foraging in the grass. Maybe there was another snack in there. (Mabel - 4/5 Nadia - 4/10 Name, 4)

Practice would make perfect. Though Mabel wouldn't be keen on responding if there wasn't a treat on display, Nadia knew she would get used to it - it would come naturally to her with time and with repetition. The best thing about it was that she'd be repeating it through the rest of the training, which would solidify the knowledge! "Mabel!" There was no smell of meat on the wind. The houluh had found better entertainment in pawing at the dirt... could she dig a hole there? That would be good sport! And then afterwards, she would run around, and-- "Mabel! Maaabel!" So noisy! She turned towards the woman with a huff, but that was exactly what was desired. Nadia beamed and leaned down to pet her, pleased with the small snapshots of progress they'd been making so far. The day was off to a good start! Hopefully their luck would hold out. (Mabel - 5/5 Nadia - 5/10 Name, 5)
