Riku used the same cart he had used the day before to lug around a ton of Orbaru to the Nature's Bounty. This time it had far less creatures, but it was much harder to push. Four of them were lion sized. Four of them were large dog sized. Two were giant reptiles, and one was a humongous bird! They were all so beautiful, but he simply did not have room in his home, schedule, or finances to take care of them anymore. It was not fair to them.
He parked it in front of the small shop and wondered how so many creatures he knew they sold could fit in that building. As he opened the door and heard a chime, he noticed the sign above it with the name of the store had eyes that were watching him - and they blinked! Once inside there was a plethora of eyes on him - some in triplets rather than pairs. And more significantly was a large wolf who seemed overweight for his species. Even so, its stare was intimidating enough to make him want to stay in line....not that he would act out of it.
Mavrik had thought that his luck was different, with the new stock being very popular, but just when he thought his luck was turned... More creatures to show into his already swollen menagerie! Ah well, it wasn't like he could turn people down anyway. He stepped outside the front door, having caught sight of the cart outside and knowing what that meant. "What all can I do for you today?" He said, scarcely a question but polite anyway.
"Hi there." Riku began, "I have some creatures here who I can't afford to take care of anymore, I was hoping to sell them to someone who could hopefully find them a better home." he said, putting his hands in his pockets. He didn't like admitting that he hadn't given an animal as much as it deserved...but in this case it was necessary. "Oh, I'm Riku, by the way." he said, waving, and then he turned back to the cart, assuming the man would want to review the critters first.
He listed them out loud to him. "I have these four Malii, that baby equillion, a giant bird, a giant snake, a giant water snake...and six canine sorts." he laughed, forgetting the names of some of the species. He was hopeful that each of these would find their rightful home...and he also hoped that they would get along here as well as the draconics got along well at the rookery. The owner seemed nice enough.
Mavrik was entirely focused on figuring up the costs on buying all of these creatures instead of listening much. He knew all of the species names (and even names for VSCs and other such information, it was all his job after all) so he didn't bother. "I can pay you... 2550 credits for the whole lot." He said, simply. A handful of customs, some VSC, a couple of offspring, and a few revived vulticus. Sounds about right.
Riku could tell the man was concentrated while he was listing off the creatures, but it was more of a self-imposed formality than something he felt the shop owner needed to hear, so he finished saying it anyway. Sometimes he used his Malii as sounding boards for ideas and analyzed emotions, so not having his words absorbed was something he was very familiar and comfortable with...in other wise, he occasionally talked literally just to hear himself speak. If anything, he felt like it was properly acknowledging these creatures one last time before sending them away. They deserved at least that (and more).
At the price stated, he raised his eyebrows in shock before he could hatch the reaction. He liked to play it cool during these exchanges, so he didn't want the other person to know just how much money that was to him. He felt it was more professional that way.
He nodded to Maverick and said "That will be perfect, thank you." Professional, but polite. Being grateful was professional, he believed.
Mavrik crossed his arms and tilted his head slightly as the customer accepted his offer. On one hand, he was glad that the customer was okay with it, but also he tried not to increase the ever-growing menagerie of creatures he had to sell too much past it's absolute limit. "Okay-" He said, and then he pulled some credits out of his wallet, counting them out to the customer. After he was done, he nodded. "I'll get them unloaded and brought into the shop. Nice doing business with ya." At that, he began doing just as he said.
The transaction was completed.
