They’d found an oddity among the rubble while cleaning up - a small jar of… something? Sevyrn had never seen anything like it before and she had no idea where it may have come from. Nonetheless she had put it aside with the rest of stuff she had planned to keep. Maybe some day soon she’d dip down to the Herbologist’s Delight and see if Alura knew anything about the strange critters inside - seemed like the best bet to get an answer, yeah? There was some other stuff in the wreckage, too - namely some strange fungus that had started to grow around the base…
Yeah, the shed really had needed to be torn down and replaced. The wood had been rotting and falling apart, so much so that it had become a good birthing place for mushrooms. Sevyrn had a feeling that she might find more of those if she looked any closer.

Now was not a time for looking, though. Now was a time for resting.
There was nothing like an easy early autumn evening, with the slight breeze and the sky turned shades of orange and pink and purple. Together the two young women sat with their wine, laughing and chatting until the bright gradient hues of sundown turned in to a deepening blue-black.
“I should probably head home soon,” Quinn said as night arrived and settled in, the many creatures around the garden falling in to their night time routines. Some would become more alert while others would retire to nests - and it was about time for both of the girls to get ready to return to their own nests, too.
“You’ll be back tomorrow, yeah?” Sevyrn confirmed as Quinn gently removed the resting pachee from her lap. Button yawned as he stretched out, and the commotion was enough to rouse Al as well.

“Of course - look at all that still needs to get done, Sev! We’ve still got a few days left before we’re gonna be finished this. Some of it might have to wait until next weekend, though. I’m too busy during the week to be able to help out.” Quinn chuckled as she gathered together the few things that she had brought with her to her friend’s home and then opened the screen door in to the house - Sevyrn followed along behind her. It came as no surprise that Quinn would need to focus on work during the week, of course - and Sev would have never asked her to stretch herself so thin.
“Of course,” she acknowledged as they reached the front of the house. “I’ll see you tomorrow, then - when should I expect you?” Sev asked.
“How about bright and early?” Quinn winked, knowing she’d just given the worst response possible.

As expected, Sevyrn audibly groaned. “How about noon… at the earliest?” She returned, and Quinn pulled her in to squeeze her as tight as possible.
“Fine - noon. But you better be up and ready when I get here!?” And just like that, Quinn rushed out the door with the kind of enthusiasm that Sevyrn couldn’t even imagine being capable of. For her, it was now time to prepare dinner for everyone - Ramses and Elisa inside, the seryn and sea pony in the pond, and the variety of creatures calling her yard home. It would take her a little while but eventually everyone was fed and happy and ready for the end of the night, which meant that it was finally her turn.
Standing at the edge of her porch, arms resting against the railing, Sevyrn watched as everyone fell in to their nightly routines. Some played, some slept, but all seemed well.

Quinn was nothing if not the type to be early - it was not anywhere near noon when she showed up the next day but luckily Sevyrn was already up and getting her day sorted by the time that the redhead crashed through her front door with the same excitement she’d had when she left the night before. Sev was in the back minding her own business, crouched low to the ground to talk to Al and Button who seemed to be best of friends, often found at each other’s side.
The unexpected sound of her back door opened pulled her attention away from the critters, though, and her head swivelled to look back.
“Quinn - I am still trying to get everyone fed right now… including myself.”
“Well how do you feel about eggs for breakfast?” Quinn asked with a grin, immediately struck with a plan to make a good breakfast for the people here.

Sevyrn had to laugh at her friend’s vivacity. “Alright - breakfast sounds like a good idea. Thank you, Quinn,” she said and in an instant the woman had whipped around and made her way back inside. Sevyrn swore it was too early for anyone to have that much energy and yet Quinn always seemed to be able to muster up the energy to function at peak performance whether it was 6am or 6pm - and she could live off of next to no sleep with ease, too. It was almost uncanny.
Sev was nowhere near as excitable, though the idea of food did make her feel just a little bit more alive. First thing first, however - she needed to make sure everyone in the garden was happy and healthy and had a full belly. She could go check on Quinn in a moment, for now she had a task to finish.

It wasn’t long before Quinn was yelling out the back door that breakfast was ready, just as Sev was crouched in front of her pond checking on the handful of seryn that lived in it - the little collection of fish was slowly growing bigger and she loved to see each and every one of them. Nightlight was getting bigger, she’d gotten Samhain from the Labs after a long wait… And then the newest newcomer - Sevyrn didn’t have a name for her yet, but she’d bought a sweet little red and black baby off of someone who was interested in selling. All together, the fish pond was becoming quite lovely. However, another thing that Sevyrn was going to have to think about was expanding it - that would be another task to add to the list. She wanted more seryn, but didn’t want them to get cramped in there.

Ugh. That would require a building permit, and she’d have to go get her hands on even more supplies… find somewhere safe to keep the seryn while she re-did their home… There was so much work to be done, the list of jobs to do never really ended - and that was just at home! At least tending a home garden meant she usually didn’t have to worry too much about her food supplies, because with everything she needed to do Sevyrn was often low on credits… (It was her own fault - she’d have more money if she hadn’t chosen to pour everything she had in to caring for so many creatures. However, she also wouldn’t change that for the world.)
“What do you think, Al? Should I go get some food in me now?” Sevyrn turned her head to the side, looking towards her hybrid creature.

Al chattered in response, and it seemed that Sevyrn had taken too long to get up - Quinn called to her again, though this time with the kind of urgency that would have had Sevyrn thinking that the house was burning down if not for the fact that she knew Quinn like the back of her own hand.
“Okay - okay!” Sevyrn called back with an equal level of urgency, grumbling to herself as she clambered to her feet and nearly fell in to the pond at the same time… that was what she got for trying to rush at all. There was a scowl on her face as she turned towards the house and from the shit-eating grin on Quinn’s face she’d caught the way that Sev had nearly lurched forward straight in to the water.
Yeah - it was just so funny, right? Once she reached the porch, Sev shook her head at her friend.

Al just had to follow along - she’d grown quite loyal to Sevyrn after all the time that they had spent together and as such, the nyssafaux liked being around the girl any time that Sev was out and about… provided she had the energy to leave her flower-pot bed, of course. Despite the closeness Al was also perfectly fine being on her own, too - and though she peered through the screen door in to the house after Sev and Quinn vanished inside, Al quickly bounced off to get back to her own business - sleeping and eating and playing underneath the cool early fall sunlight.
Eggs, though. Sevyrn hadn’t realized just how great the idea was until the eggs were actually sitting in a plate on her table right in front of her. “You know what, Quinn - this was a really good idea. Thank you!” Quinn’s grin was the only ‘you’re welcome’ that Sev was going to get.

It took a few more work days to get the new shed finished up - and because of Quinn’s mid-week work schedule, that had meant it took until the end of the following weekend to get everything done. Eventually, however, the work was done. Sevyrn was quite happy to have that project behind her - one less thing to have to worry about between now and when winter came. In her eyes, it meant that it was time for a much-deserved break. After the last of the mess had been cleaned up and Quinn had went back to her own home, Sev popped in to the house herself. Immediately, she was met with the loud mews of the young Malii that lived in the house - Ramses. Once Ryden’s, the young one was now in her care. Sevyrn was quite fond of the little kitten. ”You know what - wanna head out?” Sevyrn asked the kitten as she crouched in front of him. 176 (TBB 6)

The kitten mewed, seeming interested in interacting with his girl but clueless as to what she was actually saying. Along the way he’d learned a few things from her - his own name, to come and to stay, but overall… Well, the kitten could use some more work. Sevyrn tried, in her spare time, to give the kitten the love and attention and training that he needed but said spare time was hard to come by.
One day, though, he was going to be a much bigger kitty - and the Akui blood in him meant that Sev would really want to bond with him before that day came. Akui Malii were… In their old age they could be flippant at best towards those they didn’t care for, at worst straight up aggressive. Sevyrn needed to do right by Ryden and keep the young one happy and cared for. She owed him that.

“Well how about that, then?” She asked, extending an arm out to pat the kitten on the back and then scratch between his ears. After she finished that she scooped him up in her hand - baby Malii were small enough to hold pretty comfortably, and Ramses mewed in resistance until he was held close to Sevyrn’s chest. At that point he looked towards her and let out a single meow before burying his head in the fleshy crook between her arm and breast.
He was an interesting character, to say the least. Sevyrn absolutely adored it, of course - Ramses would always hold a sweet spot in her heart and she didn’t look forward to the days when he would be too big to curl up close to her like this. At the very least he would end up a little less rambunctious in time… or so Sevyrn hoped.
