This was... strange. How many times had she gone down to that breeder's place before now? Four, five times? Three or four times for orbaru, once to borrow a pachee - today she had a new idea in mind. She'd gotten awefully lonely the last few times that she'd gone to the breeding center, being there solo - maybe this time she could ask for a buddy? She'd seen a pretty little lady the last time that she had stopped by, and the son of the last pair she'd bred seemed like he would make some pretty young ones...
So, the impulsive in her loaded Mocha up in to her little wagon and Sevyrn trudged her way down to the place she'd been many times before. Maybe bringing along the dad to be would be enough to convince Jack that she might want to come along. Rather than paying to borrow the girl that had caught her eye, they could each take a baby and have some company for the adventure? Maybe?
... Frankly, Sev couldn't remember the last time that she'd gone out of her way to be around other people so she had no clue how she was going to pose this question.

Stretching out with a smile, she checked on her business and stayed for a little while. While she felt odd sometimes, loaning out her breedables for others to work with, she knew it was worth it in the end. Either she got credits or an offspring, and she smiled as she thought about it. Usually people paid with credits of course, but she had gotten the odd adorable offspring from time to time. There were actually a pair of male Pachee that had been borrowed and she was promised a baby from that one soon.
Speaking of loaning out... Jack stood up and waved at a repeat customer who was headed her way, and little Sandy bounded over to the woman as she waved. "Hey there, looking to borrow again? You know you're always welcome to," she said cheerfully, reaching down to pick up the little one so she would stop yanking at her pants.

"I... was here to ask about her, actually," Sevyrn said, stumbling through the words. The last time that she had seemed this nervous was the first time that she had come by, faced with the awkward feeling of asking a stranger for something. Before speaking again she moved to the little wagon of hers and opened the gate to it, allowing Mocha to wander out. He looked towards the unfamiliar faces and cocked his head before running over to check them out. Who were these guys? The woman seemed friendly - the orbaru in her arms had him about to reach up Jack's leg and Sevyrn had to swoop in to pull him away.
"I, uh, brought this guy here with me this time - he's one of Coca's babies, from the last time that I stopped by. I thought that they would make an awesome pair. I know I usually pay in credits but... it gets a little boring down there sometimes, I was wondering if you might want to come with? We can share the babies." She did her best to sound confident as she spoke - she really did.

Sandy reached down for the little male with a booping noise. Jack laughed at her a little and then smiled at Sevyrn. "Oh, you came for her? Sure, I'd be glad to... You want me to come?" she asked, startled. Usually people didn't want her to come, especially if they were a little nervous, but she was more than happy to this time! To be honest, she would love to be asked that more often, and she nodded happily. "Of course, I'd love to come! Sandy, you want to go to the Breeding Center today with this little guy?" the woman asked the Orbaru in her arms with a smile. When Sandy bopped her nose with a paw, she chuckled again and nodded, "We'll be happy to, I think they'll make an amazing pair myself, as well!"
Jack closed up her area for a bit and then nodded to Sevyrn again, "Shall we, then?"

People were just... mildly anxiety inducing, and Sevyrn hated asking anyone for anything - that was just who she was. But she'd lost her partner, pushed away any friends she had because of it - it was time to stop wallowing in her own self-pity and start acting like a person again. This was an easy first step - a shared adventure with someone as interested in it as she was. That couldn't go wrong.
That nervousness, visible across her face, disappeared almost as soon as Jack said that she was willing to come. Okay, good - she hadn't just suddenly made a fool out of herself. That was a good start to say the least. "Yes we shall," she returned with a grin that lit her face up. "I, uh, have my wagon. If you want to load her in to it, it makes for a pretty easy trip down. Easier than trying to keep them from running off, at least." Though... a stray orbaru was less of a worry with two bodies around to chase after them, rather than the people being outnumbered by the critters.

Smiling at the offer, Jack nodded and put Sandy inside of it, patting her on the head to get her to stay still for now and then stood beside Sevyrn. "I'm looking forward to it, actually, I don't think I've ever had someone ask for me to join them, it's always the other way around," she laughed and slowly started to walk, "Do you want me to pull the wagon, or do you have it?"
There were many things she could be doing right now, mining, gardening, fishing, growing her Houluh and Sarane, but meeting a potential new friend? Well, that trumped the rest of it for now, and she was pleased with things. It was always good making new friends, she knew that, and part of her really hoped that's where this was going. She needed the company, she had been so lonely lately it was hard for her to function sometimes. Maybe this was just what she needed.

Once she'd loaded Mocha back in to the wagon, a relatively easy task given that there was a potential friend already inside, Sevyrn gave the sweet boy a little chin rub and then closed the gate behind them - it was time to go off!
"I've got it," Sevyrn assured as she took the handle, used to pulling the weight of a couple orbaru behind her by now. The last thing she wanted to was inconvenience Jack, who had already been an angel to her. She'd had... nothing when she first started, really. Some of the old-school orbaru that she loved deeply, but lacked the intricate markings and interesting colors that she wanted to start breeding for. There was a reason she'd been here so many times already.
"Well... It's always nice to have a buddy." She left out the I don't really have any part that was tacked on in her head. "Figured why not? Worst case you say no, I give you the money... maybe never come back. But probably come back." Ah yes - the nervous ramble.

"That's true, it is nice to have someone with you," Jack agreed as they walked, shoving her hands into her pockets, "It seems to make the time fly by a little faster. Breeding Orbaru can be a chore sometimes, but it's always worth it." Beaming happily at the other woman, Jack wondered briefly why most of the people she spent time with were male. It wasn't like that was a problem to her, but it was nice to talk with another woman sometimes.
She glanced down and peered through the gate for a moment at Sandy, who was happily trying to boop the male's snoot. "Oh I almost forgot! What's his name?" she asked, tilting her head as she touched her node pouch to make sure it was still there. It was a nervous habit of hers, she hadn't swallowed one and people knew she had them, so pickpockets were a slight fear of hers, it would seem.

Jack was right - breeding orbaru was undoubtably worth the time it took, regardless of how many times she had failed to flip through a book just for something to do while the pair of the day ran around playing with and getting to know each other. The first couple trips had been really interesting, but after that as much as it was an exciting experience, it was easy to fall in to routine.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I completely forgot. Remembered to tell you he was the son of one of yours, yet forgot to tell you his name. Mocha Swirl. Mocha." Good job, Sev - real good job. She'd been too focused on her own stuff to remember something that basic. "Sandy, right?" She'd heard the name back before they had started the trip - it was a good idea to double check though. "She's so beautiful, I'm glad I waited to ask about her until after getting Mocha, though."

"That's fine! I could tell your mind was somewhere else," Jack said kindly, reaching out to pat her on the shoulder if she allowed it. She was just trying to be friendly, a lot of people misconstrued it, unfortunately, but she could talk down the situations that arose sometimes because of it. Jack chuckled a little, "He does look like a Mocha, he's really adorable, maybe I should breed Coca myself soon then." Who would she breed him to? There was Greyling, a simple, grey, SD Orbaru back at the Kennel who might look nice mixed with him...
"I'm glad someone appreciates her! She's definitely my line of enjoyment when it comes to colors. She's actually one from one of my first few breedings I think, I've done so many now it's hard to remember sometimes," Jack admitted sheepishly as they walked along, and she looked up to see the Breeding Center looming off in the distance.

Sevyrn was caught off guard by the sudden touch, her head turned wide-eyed towards Jack as she instinctively pulled away. Immediately she felt guilty - she could tell that the woman meant well, but how long had it been since the last time she'd been touched by another person? A couple months now? Self-induced solitary confinement was definitely not good on the soul. "I... sorry." She didn't have it in her to explain to Jack that she hadn't done anything wrong.
"I can't lie - the brights get me. I got one, a few breedings ago. Trip, I think, was his mother? That sounds about right. I... didn't do a lot of research going in to this, so I did not expect Spacey at all. I think it's the 'argh' breed?" Sevyrn didn't sound too sure about saying that out loud. "Bright on black, most antisocial orbaru I've ever met. I love him for that. But I love the natural colors too. I wish I could go for both at once but they'd probably clash at least a little bit."
And they were there! Sevyrn parked the wagon out front, and unlatched the gates to let the orbaru come roaming out.

"It's fine, I should have said something," Jack apologized with a gentle smile. Apparently something had happened to this woman, and that bothered her. She was so sweet, at least as far as she knew, she wished there was something she could do for her, but maybe just being there was good enough for now. If Sevyrn wanted to open up, then she would, and she wasn't sure if that would ever happen, but she would try and be there if it did.
Jack listened with a smile as she checked on Sandy again, "I figured Trip would make some good babies! I'd love to see pictures if you have them." Of course, no pressure, she figured, and that was fine, hopefully Sevyrn would understand that much of it. Sandy was out as soon as the gate was open and tugged at Jack's pants for a pick up. The woman chuckled and obliged, picking up the little SD and motioning toward the door, "After you!"

Sweet freedom! Mocha ran out behind the other orbaru and followed her towards Jack until she left the ground, at which point he turned to Sevyrn with a cocked head and returned to his girl. "Yes yes, you can be loved too," she said to him sweetly, leaning down to give both of his cheeks a gentle scratch with one finger before picking him up. The male flopped his head over Sevyrn's shoulder and came to rest there with one paw on each side of his head. Sevyrn was able to support him with one arm, so it was easy enough to venture forth.
"Oh believe me, I have pictures." Well.. she did, but a lot of drawings too - some of them involving some of Jack's orbaru, cuddled up with her own in the breeding center as she passed time waiting for them to be ready. "They're not on me, but I could show you some time." Had... had she just invited someone to see her again? May as well have invited Jack back to the kennel to meet the troupe.
Sevyrn pushed the door open and stepped inside to the familiar waiting room, at which point she held the door open for her buddy for the day.

"Oh that would be lovely, thanks!" Jack said, stepping through the doorway with a smile as she held onto Sandy. The Orbaru booped sadly and reached out for Mocha before she turned around in the woman's arms to look at what was going on. She didn't recall ever being here before, maybe when she was born? It didn't make much sense to her, just... flashes of memory, but that had been so long ago it was hard to remember now.
The woman looked around and then walked over to the counter to start on the paperwork, thinking Sevyrn wouldn't mind if she did so, and set Sandy down on the floor. The little SD Orbaru looked around for a bit and then wandered over to where the other woman was with Mocha, pawing at her to get her to pick her up as well. "Sandy! Behave..." Jack warned with a frown as she went over to pat her on the head.
