Comet flyer. Yes. Everywhere?, I write, confused. "It says there's a comet flying over tonight, and to gather on this hill so you can come view it, and they're looking for help to view it." Magpie explains, tracing her finger on each line of the flyer's words for me as she chose to stand on my right and show me the piece of paper. "This mark means Que pee. Quest points. Its almost like a second currency for folks who do the quest board work. The points can be traded for credits, items, even pets if you talk to the right person." Magpie points at the marking as she talks. "They want help as guards, setup, notetaking, fellow researcher, stuff like that. Heck, they might even enjoy a quiet person like you coming to see the comet because its a "once in two hundred years orbit"." she says, mockingly quoting the message. "Its just a flying rock, don't see the appeal." 15 +1

Where is this hill? I do not see it on the map the Raven gave me., I write, and point between the flyer's mock drawing of a hill, and the map spread out over my legs. An 'ohhh' expression dawns for the not-a-raccoon. "Why didn't-oh. Yeah. Lets see... I think they changed the last viewing area, because some city folk don't like the Astronomers Club; they're a bit... of airheads; stupid smart, but socially not seeing a thing. Its all learn about the stars this, balls of gas in the sky that... holding a fluent conversation is impossible." Magpie pretends its genuinely painful to say this, as she points out various hills with a pen she fishes out from who knows where. Maybe her hair? "This is a hill, this one's taller but too close to the city. If you want good star viewing, it needs to be DARK, but if you venture into the wild, you'll likely be murdered." WHat?! 16

"There's a big tree near here, but one of the tallest hills in the city limits, and right on the tree line. Probably are going to set up the viewing there." Magpie finally circles a hill that's not far off the beaten path of being near this big house, that was translated out to being "the mansion". I point at the big house to get her attention. "Oh this? Its some sort of hooky magic house. Rumor has it if you step through the gate, you're warped off someplace different each time, but its still 'here'. Really creepy; don't do it unless you want to take a risk. Its usually more risky to the creatures but-" she shrugs. "Its riskier to the creatures because you can get separated or they spook and run, or even get injured. The house doesn't typically injure humanoids though. At least thats only on the grapevine I hear." she tells me with a smile of fangs. My gaze lingers on the house warily... It does put my fur on end. 17

"I'm gonna head off now K. Be seein' you around. Get your voice back so I an hear it, kay?" Magpie disappears almost as quickly as she appeared, but this time just gets out of my vision. So the comet viewing wasn't far from here; might as well take a look. Peeking inside the knapsack on my side, Mira squirms and glowers at being woken up from the light. Sorry, sorry. Closing the flap, and storing my chalkboard and chalk, rolling up the map and holding onto the translation guide pamphlet, its time to finally get up and move. Ohhh, I can hear my spinal column complain a bit as I stand up. Reading without a desk can do that to ones posture. There's a bit of dust on my knees, brushing it off my fur, and drawing off more blonde tufts. Autumn shed isn't fun, because my winter coat is about to grow in. 18

The hill wasnt' far off the path towards the city, so what could it hurt to go take a look at this comet. I can operate a basic telescope as well, since my littler cousin isn't so patient with setup on his toys and such. We're off again Mira. Wheeek.... she's just trying to sleep... Looming before me with some elevation change, I can see a small gaggle of peoole near the top, srambling about. The summit of the hill is very flat, surprisingly flat. Almost like Uncle's fox hole... I have to shake off the thoughts of home briefly, as someone does see me and comes running up. Its like a lope instead of a run, because their long white scientist coat is MUCH too big for them. "helloareyouheretohelpviewthecometwithus?yesnomabyso?youdontalkmuchcomecomecomeoverhere!" they talk EXTREMELY FAST, and I've got no idea what that creature just said. Its... humanlike? with enormous coke bottle glasses and a starry bow on their head. 19

"welcomewelcomepleasetakeofyourbagthrowitthere.anyhelpmuchappreciated!ohyouareafoxdoyouhavegoodnightvision?" the chatterbox asked at an insanely fast pace, which sounded like garble to me. "Stop talking roadrunner, Order above." someone else came up to meet me, turning the babblemouth creature-person? around and sending her in another direction. "Now that that's settled, welcome. Are you here to help us study the comet?" I nod. Putting down my bag carefully and fishing out my chalkboard. I don't understand common...and I can't talk right now. Laiyan?, I write down, trying to say magpie but just get a maahaagh.. and a cough. The person who is near me winces. "Oooh, I see. Marcel! Marcel... MARCEL!" The person turns around and shouts into their team. Someone else, a child? comes pelting over. Practically leaping over a few pieces of low bound equipment. He skids to a halt before the other, who looks human to me. "This guy don't talk and understands. Laiyan. That's your thing. He's here to help, so get him setup with a job." "roger boss" ?! I can hear my knapsack shuffling from the noise. Sorry Mira. +1
