"Master woke in the middle of the night when the black out started. We don't use much power here, nope. His butler is looking into the reason of the black out, he is." the female says, looking closer at the panilla. They're almost nose to nose, before Mira squeaks and hides again. She smiles and pulls away, and the fox takes a step away from her. "Aww, such a fluffy little critter." she crouches down and makes noises at the jackaroo, who is definitely not paying attention to anything else right now. Maybe the subtle 'thump' of something thick closing up. "And a jackaroo? Aren't these the cutest little bunny babies." Cute? "I heard they were wild desert bunnies who had babies with kangaroos, I did." It took a moment for Kristofor think about this; he'd read a book about exotic species when he was a cub; long long ago and far far away, there was a giant desert island that had all sorts of poisonous and dangerous things, including giant kicking animals. Was that a kangaroo? The female digs into her coat pockets and finds a small amount of... blueberries. Oh she had to have those. He tries not to stare at the treats in jealousy. Or at least in the direction of them. 98

She holds one out to it, and the jackaroo glances doubtfully at her, to the treat, back at her, following their nose more then their eyes. After all, you don't develop nightvision that easily, do you. A long pause, before it takes it with clawed fingers and nibbles on the fat blue berry. "Thats a good bunny baby..." she coos, but doesn't scratch the jackaroo's ears beyond verbal praise. She sees the fox staring at her. "Try giving em a blueberry, food helps get these bunnies used to you easier. I'd say carrots, but carrots far as I know don't grow in the springtime." he shrugs; this region is much different in terms of living in the woods. Taking a blueberry by following his nose from the female, who by the look of her flat face in the near darkness is female. Angular, but feminine. Trying to ignore the pain in his shoulder, his tether hand holds out to the jackaroo, silent. He doesn't want to spook it any further. It, like him, is following their nose and they look into each other's eyes before the blueberry is snatched and disappears. Mira squeaks, she doesn't like being left out of the treating here! 99

"Aww, hello sweetie. You're jealous of your friend, huh? I hear fresh berries aren't so good for you, so try one of these." The female rummages in her coat pockets and pulls out something that smells significantly sweeter then a normal berry to Kristofor. Raisins? "Try one of these." "Dry berry?" the fox asks, clearly being forgotten for his fluffy companions. "Good snack for Mira?" "I occasionally give the bunnies in the grounds raisins as treats when they're not chewing up the laundry that I'm hangin' up." she explains for the berries in her pockets, trying one herself. "We home make our treats here for our grounds animals." Owlishly blinking at him again, taking a step back, the female jumps a bit. "I know you! You're the poor one who our good butler tricked into taking Bristol into a race around the city!" "Small child with black fur is butler?" isn't he a bit young?! She giggles, the giantness of her eyes not even reflecting in the darkness. "He's older then you'd think." she does a motion with her eyes that humans call 'winking', but its hard to tell, because her eyes are literally enormous. Mira chitters as she eats her raisin. The jackaroo has turned its attention to her instead. It doesn't appear as freaked out now. 100

I hope you're keeping an eye out during your conversation. There's an egg hiding in the shadows behind those lanterns!

"No lights in the grounds?" the fox asks, his common feeling sort of thick and stupid on his tongue tonight. He looked around. The moon wasn't high enough risen that it was easier to see yet, but his eyes personally were adjusting to the looks around him. Whether or not this was the case for the two berrivores attached to him (yes that isn't really a word, shush grammar brain), he had no idea. Mira took normal cues on moving around vs being told to do so as he did with Dawson. The jackaroo, nothing. He didn't even know what its physical gender was. If it was on the adoption paper, he didn't see it, or it was smudged to the point he couldn't read it. "The master sleeps through the night and so do we, so theres no reason to illuminate outside beyond the door, that is." 'must not entertain after dark' the fox assumed to himself. Mira finished her raisin, licking her tiny paws clean from the delicious snack that was raisin. WheeK? She blinks up at the female across from her fox and chirps for more. Its garnered the attention of the jackaroo, who if it was light, would have a tiny purple amount of face-stick of blueberry juice. 101

"However. You may find these eerie lanterns around the grounds in odd places. Little glowy spots, see. Think its part of whatever the master chose to have done to the grounds here." she has a curious stare going on there. Over his shoulder, but towards the left. Kristofor turns, and the bush beside them is softly glowing. Without excusing himself because he's not headed anywhere fast with the two attached to him, the fox peers over the bush, and finds a trio of small paper lanterns, no bigger then something the size of his paw, sitting in a triangle around a black egg, spotted with bone white. "Looky there, eggs!" she sounds ecstatic. "Faelot has lots of fun things. Bunnies, eggs, flowers, its such a great spring holiday, ey?" He nods. Faelot... that was what Kevin told him was how this region did springtime. "Master told me that if we, anyone really, finds this kinda stuff in the grounds, tha's free to take, it is." Free to take? He picked up one of the soft little pink lanterns and holds it up. It illuminates their faces, the two rodents, and even the budding bush. Its truly illuminating, kinda pretty too. Every eye is on it, and then he sets it back behind the bush, and it goes dark again. 102

"Ey heard a rumor when I went shopping in the city that someone pays well for all this stuff you find here." she puts her hand up to further obscure her already dark again face, like she had to whisper. It's the beginning of the night! "Something 'bout trading for things they have for your things. 'Parrently its for getting hold of some pretty rare things. Mo'sters and such, I hears." now the fox really didn't believe her. Sell monsters to get paper lanterns and eggs. Really. No way. Besides, if all else failed, eggs keep longer if you don't wash them and make good omelets. He liked omelets. Didn't eat fowl, but eggs are okay once in a while. The egg in question was long and tapered to a point, probably whatever laid that had a deficiency of sort. Weren't eggs supposed to be more... you know, round? Shaped like a pear, but rounder? He heard the snapping of a branch, and looked to the bush. No longer eating the blueberry, while they were discussing, the jackaroo had moved to the bush, snapping off a branch and chewing on it like one would watch a hamster eat. Mira had eyes on that bush too. Wait, did panilla eat bush? 103

"Why are you outside?" the fox asked the female as she continued to talk about random things. She starts a bit when he speaks up, and its not a yip or a bark. "Waitin' on the master's mail, I is." Who the hell delivers MAIL in the middle of a blackout, the fox wonders to himself as he follows the tied on shadows of the two branchivores investigating the bush. Chewing on it. "Master has a night courier. comes to deliver the mail after dark, a black shadow on horseback, it is." She can hear it too, the distant clattering of hooves. She shoos Kristofor off the path briefly, practically into the bush itself. The long blooming branches scrape his thighs as the fox steps over it to stand in the deeper darkness, and she picks up one of the pink lanterns for a light. Something rushes in, truly black as night, and riding what appears to be a horse? The beast snorts and dances a bit, they really dont' like this place, Kristofor notes. Regular animals aren't keen on this? Or... "Deliv'ry m'am." the rider says, offering a sizable amount of parchment to the giant eyed female. Looking briefly over when one of the two broke off a branch louder. 104

"Wou'd be here later, but theres a damn blackout in the city and navigating those mazes is worse then East End blindfolded." the rider waved a limb in frustration, still holding to tight to the reins of their steed. The beast stamps a few times. In the semi dark, Kristofor notes the creature's hooves look... like feet. With three toes. like bird feet. "G'night m'am." the rider calls, and snaps the smelly leather straps. The horselike thing with toes screams loudly, turns around and gallops out of the area. The female waits till the sound of hooves is gone, then beckons the fox and his two back out of the bushes. Mira and the jackaroo have swapped broken twigs, nibbling at their prizes as if this was perfectly normal. "Sorry 'bout that, our courier's not entirely aware of what's gone on the estate of recent, so if theres others on the area, just strangers, he panicks, and might jsut drop the mail and run." 'not a very reliable mail' the fox grumbles to himself, picking a few stray thorns out of his fur by touch. The faint pink light of the lantern illuminates her giant eyes, like wearing giant glasses. Or was she. 105 -end accept darkness?

You walk along in peace, accompanied by your companion, until... thump! You turn around, startled, to see a hole in the ground that you are certain was not there before. What kind of trickery is this? Worse than your surprise is the disappearance of your pet. They must have fallen down!
[Your pet is lost! It cannot be roleplayed for the next 5 posts while you find it!]

-start Lost!-
His instincts prickled briefly when something loud thumped nearby. The fox stood a little more still, his ears doing that rotation thing that deer do when they have caught wind of a predator. Again, it thumped. Beneath his feet, the ground itself was sinking. Alarmed, and thinking quick as he could, the fox pulled the merged ties off his wrist and threw them he'd claim pretty accurately later into the bush before the ground opened up and swallowed HIM. and from the sudden screaming, so did the female within touching range of him. Was this another killer jackalope hole he'd fallen into? NO way, the fox kept an eye out for the suspiciously round patches which open up and steal from within. But he'd originally been swallowed by the floor. The screaming female continued to fall alongside him and grabbed frantically, taking a handful of his lovely fox fur. 106

All too soon, the drop stopped and he hit the dirt. The wind knocked out of Kristofor when the screaming female landed on top of him. Ow. Hiding a cough, the fox dragged himself out from under her and pulled himself free of her grip, leaving a small handful of blonde hairs behind. Where were they? "Ow... I do hope he stops thinking of floor drop tricks sooner then later." the human complained, sitting up where she had landed, flicking her fingers free of fox fur. She reaches out and touches the edge of the hole. Its long, like a twiny snake. Or like some human took an enormous bendy straw and stuffed it in the ground. and what was left of doing that was his hole here. "ARe you okay mr fox sir?" The fox in question she could vaguely see his outline bending and stretching in directions. "Not broken. Good." 107

Oh it wasn't a bendy straw, it was a crazy straw. Crazy straws had loopy de loopys in em, the female reminded herself. So her. She could see unnaturally clean scuffs in the earth from the made hole. This wasn't rabbit made... With a motion, she removes her giant spectacles, and puts them in her bosom, because maid pockets weren't going to keep her specs safe from whatever made this hole. A gentle touch to the bow across her lowest spine, yes, it was still there. Good. "Come on mr. fox, lets find our way outta here. Where there's a down, there's typically an up." she tells him. The fox doesn't seem to be able to see nearly as clearly as she can it seems. "Kristofor. Mr. fox is my uncle." he corrected her. "Foxes have uncles? Oh, my bad, my bad. Mr Kristofor? No? Just...Kristofor?" nod. "Okay, just Kristofor, lets go this way." 108

"Where does this lead?" the fox asked her as they followed the dirt hole on a seemingly steady y level. "Dunno really. Might be an old hole from a previous month's trick. Its too clean for a bunny hole. And too small. Might be for an us sized snake though. I wouldn't put that out of the idea." She'd found a bunny one time and nearly got her hand bit off by a snake not two minutes later when seeing eggs last year. Us sized snakes were no joke. "If I'm not back in time, the master's butler boy will come out and rescue me." she makes that little sigh that females make when imagining being rescued like a princess. "He sleeps very little at night, you know. I think he just sits up and reads, no matter how much I tell him "butler boy, you need to go to sleep so you can grow up big and strong like your uncle", I says." 109

They came to a crossroads while she talked. Before them, something was there. The human female stopped the fox, a finger put up to her lips in the darkness. He could see the movement, and a shadow ahead, but it wasnt' much better. She fiddled with soemthing on the back of her bow, and drew out something he couldn't see, but could smell. The fox's stomach dropped in shock; what maid carries a firearm on her?! She creeps forward, acting very soldierish like she was sneaking up on a target. He couldn't make his feet move. The sound of wood and metal scraping on something solid, but movable. "Is' okay now. Its just a skin, me thinks." the female whisper calls to him. She fiddles with putting away her weapon of choice, and joins him again with a strip of... was that snake skin? "Must've had one of those big snakes be down here." she doesn't appear frightened. "Le's get up to the top now. I think left is up." Had to give him a push though, he'd frozen up some. Her instincts on up must've been good because they found a tapering upward tunnel that opened up into the patch of grass and flowers just nearby on where they'd been standing. 110 -end Lost!-
