Oh man, it had been a long road, getting this guy to listen to him, to actually hear him, and then to respect him. And on top of all of that, it wa difficult figuring out how best to teach him in a meaningful way. But they'd made it. After a quick stint in the Mansion for a change of pace, Reoz really seemed to buckle down and just get it. Instinct. Habit. These were things Ashe liked. If you built them up, then you didn't need to think about what you were going to do next, you just did it.
This would be the corpse's first actual battle. Ashe wanted to try him against different creatures. Or so that was the story he was using... He really had more nefarious goals in mind, things he'd picked up about corpse constructs here and there. He was excited to test these theories out. And so, he came to sit in the stands to watch, Reoz down below, pacing in the pit. And his trod arriving shortly.
*Ashe is using sever bond at 4 MP, Inyala would not approve of this.

 The trod did not think much on its own, just reacting to commands given. And today, it knew it was supposed to bring this Malii along to the Pit. It led the beast along on a leash, the Stormcloud rather subdued. There was no one it could trust, no where that it would call home. It had been cared for, both at the store and also while in the man's care, but there was no bonding done, and Malii thrived on meaningful bonds. It looked around as it followed the machine, ears flattened in discomfort. The TROD soon reached the pit, and from there, it ushered the Malii into the Pit with the opponent. Was that the right word? Or would villain be more accurate? The Malii had a fighting chance, but only just. The TROD almost wished it good luck before they split, but it stayed silent as it walked up to the stands, the ceremonial location for the pit pet 'owners'. [ready] |

Ashe eyed the Stormcloud Malii. It didn't look that formidable, but battles could change like the wind, on a whim. He watched as, below, Reoz also saw the Malii and turned his whole body to face it. He looked a little shocked, a little confused, the way a predator might look when they stumble upon a feast spread out before him. That was the thing - Reoz saw almost every living thing as food, and he had to have a special location while at Zanarkand, their home. Kitty was safe around him, being a shadow, but not much else was. Unless of course, he'd just gorged himself. Then perhaps safe for a time, like a fat and happy Salaves.
"Crunch!" He told the Corpse, hoping it heard. And would listen. This was one thing they hadn't rehearsed; Reoz had never been down below in the Pit, while Ashe stood above and shouted...
But Reoz shambled into action, approaching the Malii with jaws wide open, as rapidly as he could, which was probably terrifying.

The Stormcloud Malii felt a wave of terror as the corpse locked eyes on it. That thing was death, it shouldn't be! It was wrong, it was disgusting, and how did it come to be? The Malii, however, felt a responsibility deep down inside of it, which kept it from fleeing on the spot. This was it, it all came down to this... It was this Malii's job to set things right, to rid the earth of this monstrosity! Send this thing back to the earth where it belonged, where it couldn't roar at anything any more! The Malii's tails lashed like whips and its eyes glowed with determination. Confidently, it stepped forward, ready to meet the corpse, ready to beat it to a pulp and send it back underground. With the silence of a Malii, it launched its attack.
In the stands, the Trod watched on in silence. The Malii wouldn't listen to any command it said, anyway, so it didn't even try.

Reoz's Danger Sense activates, Stormcloud misses it's attack!
Reoz uses Crunch!
Reoz's Dexterity of 2 + 9 rolled by staff = 11 vs. the 5 Dexterity of Stormcloud
Reoz will deal the most damage possible!
Reoz's Strength of 3 + 6 damage of Crunch = 9 damage
9 - 2 Resistance of Stormcloud = 7
Stormcloud's Stamina is now -4
Reoz may now devour Stormcloud!

The Malii was no use for his might! Reoz let loose a gutteral snarl as he crunched down onto the Malii's body and gave a vicious shake before dropping it to the ground. The Malii was still breathing, but there was no help coming for it. Nothing was standing between Reoz and his reward; and possibly nothing could have gotten there in time even if there had been a call for help.
"Devour!" Ashe commanded. This was it, this was the moment. The more things he could feed the corpse, perhaps the bigger he could get... And the more traits given to his shape. He seemed to take on the body shape of meals, anyway - a hoof here, a horn there. Perhaps he would grow long lovely tails after this.
The image was sickening, but Ashe looked on as Reoz grabbed up the Malii, using his arms to hold the body steady, and his jaw stretched....stretched... And he swallowed the Malii whole, his whiptail wagging, belly distended.
