Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

The Spring Sarane Tournament had finally started, Nerius had submitted his app over a month ago, but there had been some kind of delay. But the fight notice had finally arrived, and it sounded like there were quite a few entrants. The quality of those entrants were yet to be seen, Nerius himself was only entering an unbroken brown. Schism had recently reached dominance through the gauntlet, and none of his other sarane were ready. Getting the unbroken drake anywhere was always a nuisance, easiest managed by drugging the beast, but at least the Pit offered boarding for tournament fighters. He'd taken advantage of that, which meant Belial was fully awake and in his usual ill temper when released into the arena. Their opponents weren't here yet, but even without an actual drake in the sands, the scent of many, many fights lingered, and Belial was already starting to get riled up. This wasn't apart of Yangs' ordinary day-in and day-out... Hours and hours spent under flickering florescent lights, sterile equipment, and the hushed nuances of the labs and its equipment, were a stark contrast to the violently bright outdoors, the dust and dandruff blustered air, and the scuffing sounds of movements that seemed to be an ever-constant in and around the fighting pits. It wasn't a terrible difference in environment, but Yang found herself checking the digital-time displayed along her inner-wrist even before entering the ring, mind only partially on the field, the rest still focused on the back-log of information that was waiting for her input and approval.
Keel had been left to simply be, for a long time. Long enough that, enclosed in the verdant space of green with two hens, wasn't enough. Even in the pit, scales a shimmer and wave and wings free to beat the ground, the ambient aggression was immediately noteworthy. This was not a 'pet' created by the labs, this was an un-trained wild animal. His growth from hatchling to Drake felt incredibly fast, and Yang simmered in rue lamentation for the task that would be ahead of her- to properly break, and train, the beast. (Better yet, maybe hiring a shmuck or down-on-their-luck adventurer would be better)
Despite the echos of old fights and the thrill of competition, Yang was ill-preppared for what show of strength a fully grown Drake could offer.

It wasn't long before his opponent arrived, people tended to be more punctual at the start of tournaments, Nerius had noticed. The handler had an unusual appearance, even by Labs standards, and he gave a polite nod, but it was the drake that held more of his attention. It was a pretty beast, the hide reminding him of lapis lazuli stone, and spiny horns, clearly the offspring of a dominant sarane.
That alone made him suspect the drake was trained, people didn't usually enter their prized offspring untrained. But then again, Schism had gone up against an unbroken tier three in his last tournament. And this drake wasn't wearing any Pit jewelry either. Not that any of this effected Nerius' choice of actions, Belial was unbroken, and didn't follow commands, so this was more idle wondering than anything. The wirey, battle scarred brown didn't care about any of this, and gave a low snarl as he spotted the other drake, clawing at the sand as he prepared to do... something.

Yang wasn't head-technician for nothing, and at the offered nod by the humanish, she offered her own polite wave. It was the only real polite introduction that could be offered by an owner who was setting their beast loose to tear into another. Her own, private deluge of inner-thoughts of the mans appearance were something opposite to polite; a trundling-cargo of what his appearance might mean about his genealogy (he could be from a well-developed sentient species, or a single entity- had someone messed with Sarane and Human DNA? Such things happened day in and day out deep within the bowels of the Labs) It wasn't as if the city had tons of civilians who were airy in their thoughts, lacking in memory, and who couldn't recall anything beyond life in the labs.
The brown drake in the ring wasn't less impressive by Yangs' standards; despite being wiry and spouting lack-luster horns, it was still a full-blown adult Drake that was just as territorial and aggressive as any other. Keel gave an impressive, rattling snarl, jaws snapping, wings a-flare, and tail lashing, the ribbon-like fin fluttering from the movement. There was little doubt that he wasn't going to go all-in at the presence of the other drake; beast against beast.

Belial charged recklessly at the more colorful drake, lowering his head to ram his horns, small as they might have been, into his foe. His wild charge was to his detriment though, and the other drake evaded his attack. He missed entirely, sending up a large spray of sand as he skidded across the ground, with no drake to stop his forward momentum.
He gave a vicious, harsh snarl, spinning around to try to find his foe again. So blinded by rage, it took him a bit to realize the other drake was airborne, but once he did, it only made the brown more angry. He watched his opponent above, and prepared to make a move.
That was unfortunate. Nerius was watching all this in the stands, but there was nothing he could do about any of it. Belial had not only missed, but was at a significant disadvantage on the ground. Ah well, better it happened here than during a gauntlet run.

Impressive! Yang watched on in quiet awe, at the thrust of strong legs, and violent sweep of un-furled wings; the drake moved into the air in a clean arc, tail whipping about as a rudder while Keel screeched another harsh noise from his open, toothy maw.
Yang had only every really seen the graceful leaps and bounds of her winged Equillion, and the clumsy yet-softened plumes-of-wind offered by a Wiurn, jumping and gliding from cliff-side to cliff-side; she'd never seen another beast take to the air as a jungle cat would- with teeth, claws, and decisive, aggressive maneuver. She was glad to be in the stands, a wide berth of space between the sweeping-wind and snarling animals. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she made a mental note about the differences of flighty animals; a Drake mount might be that much more compelling in whichever situation she could wind up in.
She clutched at her scarf and coat, watching with rapt attention.

While Belial threw his tantrum in the sands, the blue seemed to waste no time, swooping down before the brown could react, striking him with its more impressive horns. Belial bellowed in pain as the other drake rammed into his torso, likely cracking a rib or two, and the jagged horns of the tier two ripped into his hide, splattering blood onto the sands.
But the battle scarred brown was no stranger to pain, and as nasty as the strike was, it didn't stop him from sinking his teeth into the opposing drake as he drew too close. But he couldn't get a solid grip, and the other drake tore away, flying out of his reach, at least for the time being. Belial made another hoarse snarl, eyes locked on the other drake as he waited for an opening.
Nerius rather doubted he'd get one though. He wasn't sure if it was the larger horns, or the force of flight behind it, but it was an unusually nasty hit for an untrained drake, and there was no way the badly injured brown could take another hit.

The jarring crunch of unmistakable bone snapped in echo around the pit, and Yang winced, unable to un-see the dark splatter of blood from a well-timed, well-placed strike of marginally thorny horns. Seeing, and as part of the job Handling, bodily fluids wasn't a huge problem for Yang, but the brute and animalistic nature wasn't something she was ordinarily privy to. A death through violent means wasn't something she'd ever seen herself; without the healers on stand-by, poised and ready for when the Drakes finished their fight, she'd 0 doubt the beasts would fight to that bitter, bitter end.
She clutched tighter at the scarf as the browns' head snapped towards Keel, a nasty peeling gash from his teeth adding another smattering of blood to the dusty floors. "C'mon baby, stay up," Yang muttered, aware of the still-simmering lamentation of her schedule (had she overworked herself on purpose; to find excuse to keep away from her beasts and their obviously much-needed investment of her time?) and the lack of legitimate training for the poor boy.
As ferocious and aggressively domineering as he seemed in the powerful display of motion, there was a definitive, fine line between the Drakes victory or defeat; The brown had moved fast despite the gravely wounds, and, from what Yang could see, the chunks of flesh left by it's teeth was deep, and would be quickly turning the ground sodden with blood.

Though the Brown tried his best, the blue-gold came out on top! The Pit healers come to do their work as soon as Keel lands.
