The next time that Renathan had a chance to get down to the Questing Board was once again very late in the month. He had so much to do during the month that he could barely manage to get out to do anything that was not job or farm related. However, he did try to make the effort to get out to do some kind of task with Auburn at least once a month if he could. She was used to being taken out for training quite a bit, and his prolonged break of that was obviously affecting her a tad. He was still learning how to balance his time.
The quest board had been a little more bare the last couple of months, and he was a little glad for it. Of course, most of the issue was most likely because he was getting there so late in the month. He stands in front of the board, with little Auburn perched on his shoulder preening one of the long feathers on one of her wings.[1]

Auburn's weight was comfortable on Renathan's shoulder. Just a few weeks ago, it had been quite hot and muggy outside. Today; the air was crisper and slightly cool. The mammalian could tell that the little Izer was pleased with this weather development; every year the heat would cause her quite a bit of trouble. Her coat was far more suited to winter than any other time of the year, and the swelter of summer was bad enough to make him leave her at home most of the year during his days away from home. He was quite glad that he'd found out his magic fairly quickly after the incident in which she became his familiar.
"What do you think we'll find to do this time, Auburn?" He asks, of course quite rhetorically. She doesn't bother answering him with a trill as she sometimes does. He pulls a particularly normal looking piece of paper from the board to look at it closer. "This looks simple enough."

It was a pale sheet of paper with neat penmanship gracing it; something that Renathan could probably not have done himself. He had neat penmanship- according to what he had been told; but this was on a whole different level. Perhaps it was a simple skill that the person prided theirself on, or perhaps it was something that the person did for a living. Either way, Renathan would not have been surprised to learn such. It was what had drawn him to the posting to begin with. Apparently someone was needing a pet minded during the upcoming Friday (which was the next day coincidentally), a beasty by the name of 'Fifi'. Renathan had quite a bit of experience with creature taming over the time he had lived in the Labs City; enough to not be entirely surprised whenever he glanced down and saw a picture of the beast tamer and a rather angry looking Phil. "Well look at that, Auburn!" He holds it up playfully for her to 'see'.

Renathan had never worked with a PHIL before. They were large beasts and absolute terrors, and certainly cute despite that. "I think we'll be taking this one, if it is still available." The russet mammalian states, Auburn nibbling a bit on the corner of the paper with the edge of her beak as she was typically wont to do. Renathan glances over the paper again, just to make sure, and then he turned his way to the building nearby to accept the quest. Thankfully it had not yet been taken on, so Renathan walked on home after having called his new assistants at the Cafe in order to let them know that he was taking a personal day the next day. He did this only very rarely, but had done so before, so everything would be taken care of and would turn out just fine without him and he was not at all worried.

The next morning, Renathan gets around quite quickly, finishing up the farm chores with a pleased Auburn sitting on his shoulder and eating breakfast as he handed the seeds and dried fruits to her over his shoulder. His own breakfast was going to be a simple black coffee cup; he was planning on picking up a nice lunch somewhere after the quest was completed. He wasn't entirely certain if this so-called 'Fifi' was going to take to him or not. Honestly, he was not a PHIL tamer himself, though he had seen plenty before owned by others. They were finicky creatures that required a firm hand to tame. He hoped he wouldn't have to worry about 'taming' said Fifi himself, surely he could deal with an angry creature for a few hours at least?
The address was not far away from where he lived; though it was plum on the far side of Miisaa from him. The walk didn't take as long as he would have thought, since he took it so briskly.

The morning was a little chilly, but Renathan's own fur coat was more than enough to keep the bite of the slight breeze from bothering everything except for his sensitive nose- which was slowly warming up the inside of his mask. Auburn seemed as pleased as any time he'd ever seen her, puffing up her neck ruff and rubbing on his shoulder, crouching to do so. By the time he walks over a hill in the road that dips down to yet another farm (The Farm that he was meaning to come to, in fact) he finds himself a little excited to get to meet this 'Fifi'. It had been a long time since he had worked with a large creature; save for his own Sarane perhaps. He was both worried and excited, in fact.
He steps straight up to the door of the brick house and gives the thick wooden door two raps with his knuckles- the resulting knocks firm but not loud.

The door opens shortly after Renathan takes two steps back, polite distance being made in the silence of the morning. The sun hasn't even shown it's bleeding eye coming up behind the across-the-street treeline quite yet, but the sky had a hardy glow to it whenever the lady from the ad appeared in the doorway. She was dressed well, and obviously already ready to go. Renathan dips his head in greeting, and Auburn affixes her silvery eyes on the new individual.
"Good morning." Renathan's voice creaks a little- it was a tad early in the morning (though he was usually awake this time of morning most days anyway) and the cold in the air was affecting his throat already.
The individual greets him as well, and then steps through the doorway, closing the door. Apparently Fifi was kept in a barn across the yard; smaller than the grand barn kept in the back yard.

Renathan could guess with quite a bit of speed that the barn out in the back must have had quite a bit of Murp. From what Renathan could gather through the short but polite conversation that was had whenever the individual lead him to the front yard's smaller barn and began working the complicated lock on the doors there; the individual was a clothing designer that worked with her own animals. She bragged about the quality of her murp herd's wool. As for Fifi, apparently the beast was a measure of protection against other large predators for the murp. Whenever she opened the barn up (allowing Renathan to slip in first), Fifi stands up from where she was sitting to sniff in the direction of Renathan and his fluffy Izer.
"Hey there, Fifi." Renathan says. He moves very slowly.
The owner tells Fifi not to bite, or pester Renathan, and then waves as she leaves.

Fifi was not nearly as cantankerous as Renathan had suspected she would be. Perhaps it was mostly the owner having given the PHIL so many commands not to be rude (and it did seem that Fifi was well trained at least- something that could not be said for a lot of the Labs City's large creatures), but the beast mostly just grumpily sat down not too far away. Renathan watched the giant creature warily. There was no way that Fifi would listen to him; he hadn't quite tried his hand with a PHIL yet and they were notoriously nightmarish to deal with. However, he had brought a few very thick toys that would certainly survive a PHIL, and the owner had relinquished into his use quite a few large toys for the beast.
"Hey Fifi..." The mammalian whispers. They roll a ball over to where Fifi was still chained up with the correctly-fitted collar. Thankfully, Auburn kept her distance, refusing to leave the safety that was Renathan's shoulder as a perch.

Fifi was certainly a heck of a large creature; even large for a PHIL. Renathan didn't really notice until the creature, interested in the giant rubbery ball that Renathan had rolled in the general direction of her, raised up on her hind legs (still mostly crouching) and shook herself off before ambling towards the ball. Renathan's mouth felt like cotton as he noticed it, but he did not show that he was afraid even slightly of the large creature. Instead, whenever the creature batted the ball his direction, he pushed the ball back to her. Off and on over the next hour, the pair of them played with the ball, with Auburn clinging to Renathan's shoulder as if her life depended on it. Perhaps it even did, though the mammalian did not get close to Fifi at all. It didn't seem like any time had passed at all whenever the owner shows back up, smiling in the light of the doorway as Renathan and Fifi pass the ball back and forth in a facsimile of amicability (though it had been two hours by that point).
Renathan bid the owner adieu politely, and took Auburn with him to go get lunch.
