"Ah, jackpot."
As he approached the end of the dock he could see all manner of glass before him. There were several blown glass balls, a small trove of marbles, and veritable menagerie of glass figurines that were all arranged in various states of play. He chuckled to himself, clearly this had been the work of a child who had probably spent their entire day meticulously gathering every last bit of glass they could possibly find while their parent or guardian spent their day working with one of their own aquatic creatures. Or at least it looked like the wake of a child as each animal was in a strange position. Here there two galabex kissing, there a wiurn standing triumphantly over a jade green golosssle, and was that a herd of murp... trying a vulticus ins some kind of court proceeding?
"Oh to be young and full of imagination."

He gingerly began add the crowd of figurines into the by-now quickly filling bag one by one. Thankfully the marbles and orbs managed to fill in most of the space between the differently shaped figurines making them crowd together and reduce movement over-all. He couldn't but help and continue smiling at the little scenes that the child had left them all in, it reminded him of being a youth and building great forts and castles of stones and sand and armies out of sticks. It was comforting to know that even so far from home there were ghosts of familiarity here and there. While the shores of the loch would never truly compared to the shores of the western ocean, children were still children and they played the same games, and carried the same spirit that they had in his own youth.
"I wonder if they were allowed to keep any of these?"

With the figurines collected and stashed away safely he now felt confident to begin his return trip to where he'd left the old kapper. He'd probably need to break into a bit of a jog much to Issui's annoyance, but he was confident that he'd have more than enough time to spare with how much light he had left. He only hoped he'd been able to find enough of the glass trinkets to sate the old man's needs, he knew he couldn't have possibly found everything the man had lot, but being able to find anything was an accomplishment in and of itself given the nature and size of his quarry.
"I mean really, where else could they even possibly be hiding I feel like I've more or less exhausted every single avenue that I could possibly-"
For a brief moment he let his eyes move to the clear water beaneath his feet and he immediately groaned.

Sitting just below the dock in the sandy bottom of the lock were another four or so blown glass balls. Apparently the child that had been playing with the trove of trinkets earlier in the day had not been content to simply arrange their find on the dock, but also to roll some of the baubles into the water below. While it was no actual bother, he'd almost wished he'd have begun his trip as there was no way in good conscience he'd be able to just leave now. With another hefty sigh he began to disrobe and remove the satchel holding the trinkets from his waist.
"Alright this should be quick, be back in a flash, Issui."
With a small running headstart he dove off the dock and into the cool waters below. He reveled in the feeling of the cold water on his skin after the heat of the sun beating down on him all day. He quickly and gently removed the blown glass orbs from the silt and sand and resurfaced as quickly as possible. Pulling himself from the water he let out another long sigh.
"Alright, that's it, we're calling this task finished!"

He dressed quickly without waiting for his body to dry and throwing his feet into his worn sandals. Now time was absolutely of the essence, without so much as a word he began to jog down his retraced path, back past the beach where he'd found the tzaru bruied in the sand, past the discovery of the school of seryn, past where he'd confronted the mother and child. All the while he could feel Issui's emotional scolding more or less chiding him.
"I'm sorry dear we just don't have any time to lose!"
He didn't want to risk the old man leaving his post for the day, there was no guarantee he'd be able to find him again if he were to leave. It would also mean he'd just be left with a bag of glass with nowhere to leave it and despite having the room to keep it he didn't really want to keep another person's bag of tchotkes laying around, or at least not someone's besides his benefactor's.
It wasn't long before the elderly gentleman was in his sight again, with his chest heaving he finally saw fit to stop.
"Here," his words were punctuated with gasps,"is everything I was able to find today, I'm sorry I couldn't find more sir."
He gently placed the satchel into the elderly man's hand and promptly sat on the ground beside him. His legs and chest ached, but he was happy to have completed the task.
