Whether it was scent, sight, or good fortune, Raillery found something of interest in mere moments. It took Zenjesi a moment to realize this, as the small orb was so visually similar to the crystals. However, this object was moving, floating, and drifting like a balloon as the Malii's little paws batted at it. The satyr jumped to attention, lunging forward and quickly cupping their hands over it. Whether or not that was safe to do, they were not sure, but if it was going to endanger one of them, they would prefer it to be themselves over their young companion.
Mewing excitedly, Raillery hopped up to Zenjesi, sniffing at their hands and gently nosing at them, as if requesting they release the newfound toy. "I do not know what it is," Zenjesi defended themselves. As they carefully moved to scoop it up, it brushed against their palm, and they instinctively pulled away.

It felt almost... sharp? No, it was cold. They understood this only as they drew their hand up for visual inspection. There was a small, darkening spot where the temperature had shocked their skin. Intriguing, but not altogether strange. The effect was seasonably appropriate. But what was its function? They were turning their attention back down to the orb when they realized it was gone. In their moment of distraction, Raillery had pounced. The mote was drifting off, quickly pursued by her paws.
It hardly seemed just to interrupt a seemingly harmless game; though they feared she may bat the orb into an inaccessible place, she was so small that Zenjesi could generally outpace her. They would simply need to remain attentive to ensure that they could prevent such an occurrence in the first place. Naturally, however, the Mansion was sure to disrupt their plans, as it chose that moment to begin to change.

In an instant, the brilliance of the crystal covering the ground began to fade, melting away down each blade of grass almost like warming snow. This was accompanied by a sudden warm wind; the contrast was so stark that it caused Zenjesi to shiver beneath their thick cloak. In the same moment, the sky shifted and lightened. No longer was the scene tinted blue, but now yellow, as the last rays of a setting sun shone over the horizon.
Grass that had been dead now showed green, and by the time the satyr turned to look, the Mansion was once again unrecognizable. It had grown much smaller than when they arrived, though that was a relative statement, given that it certainly could still be classified as a mansion. Now, its colors were much less dramatic and much more warm and welcoming. Even the other plant life on the grounds was beginning to bloom and blossom.

What sort of person, in their right mind, was compelled to visit the Mansion? Perhaps nobody else did. Perhaps that was why Zenjesi was the only humanoid they had ever observed on the grounds. Of course, that sentiment did not bode well for Zenjesi themselves, though they also would never claim to be of a Right Mind anyway. This month, in particular, seemed a questionable time to make a visit. Tiken Tekai, the month of chaos. Their other primary experiences here had occurred during a celebration of the dark. Zenjesi, in general, did not spook easily. However, that was not to say some of the events had not concerned them. But they did not have the experience with the Mansion to know its intent yet. Did it truly mean to cause them harm? Or was it simply playing games? Only time would tell, but in the meanwhile, they felt they ought to experiment with a more mature companion. To be more specific, one that was a little more agile and potentially able to escape any predicaments on their own. Florian had been plenty aggressive, but it only did him so much good when he was quite squat and comparatively slow. Lumi was much larger, and thus more difficult to kidnap. Also, of course, he had access to his newfound ability to fly.
Well, it should not come to any of that anyway. Zenjesi had a sneaking suspicion that the warning labels were adorning the fence to keep out those who were not truly committed to the exploration of the Mansion. Perhaps they would exclude those who would not appreciate what the magic could offer. That could certainly not be said of the satyr. Though they doubted that Lumi had the same appreciation, at least the bond they shared was strong enough that they doubted he would flee if (or when) he was spooked.

Regretfully, they were once again pressed for time on this particular day. Still, they hoped a brief visit would inform them of what to expect from the Mansion and Tiken Tekai when they were next able to return. As they rounded the corner, Gallor by their side, they held their breath, and... deflated. The Mansion appeared quite unremarkable. The trees on the front lawn had come into leaf, and the grass had turned a fresh green, but the Mansion itself really had no discerning features. It was still an impressively large structure, but that was really all there was to note about it.
Zenjesi hesitated, one hand resting on the gate. It was actually remarkably unremarkable. Suspiciously so. They narrowed their eyes, looking to Lumi. "Are you prepared?" His head cocked in their direction. They drew a slow breath. "Let us go." The gate pushed inward silently on fresh hinges.

Hooves and claws crossed the threshold, and -- SQUEAK! Satyr and Gallor both started in shock. Lumi's wings flared as he backpedaled and Zenjesi nearly lost their footing as the sound came from underneath their hoof. Had they stepped on some poor, hidden creature? They bent forward, unsure of what they were about to see. But there was... nothing? Just a depression in the grass... A sudden little spout of water sprang from the earth, hitting Zenjesi in the cheek. They hissed, and a hand flew to their face, which of course threw Lumi into a panic. The Gallor rushed at the point from where the supposed attack had come, his claws piercing the earth and tearing loose two clumps of grass. But the target was no longer there. Another little jet shot up from a few feet away. Lumi lunged, this time clamping his beak down at the roots. But there was nothing there. Zenjesi: 1.0 -- logged Lumi: 11.8, 13.8 April: 4

A third spout -- or was it the same one each time? -- sprayed up tauntingly close, and the Gallor pursued it one more time. "Lumi --" Zenjesi tried to intervene, as he was becoming quite frantic. But their whispering voice could not be heard over his crashing through the yard. Once again, his claws sank into the earth. As he peeled them back, checking for his quarry, he found only empty grass. And then the jet shot up from between his paws and splashed across the Gallor's face. He recoiled, letting out an ear-splitting screech.
Only faintly, underneath this, Zenjesi could swear they heard the softest, most musical tinkle of... laughter? Their eyes turned around the plot, searching for movement, or a source, but... there was nothing. It was coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. A little smirk appeared on their lips. This was perfect. But Lumi did not think so.

A bottle drifts by on the tail of a balloon. Curious.
