Renathan waits for the stallion to get back down on all fours before he leans in and treats the creature with a couple of more pieces of crisp pink apple. The stallion enjoys his apple pieces while Renathan pets him on the shoulder. Lots of work in for this one; and his throat was feeling raw from the growling and screeching raptorlike noises he had been making. Renathan will have to eat some honey later, he decides, to keep himself from getting a sore throat. The stallion finishes his apple pieces, and Renathan knows that they've made the breakthrough with this that will allow them to continue the training on this particular part without difficulty. He doubted any more issues would arise with the screech, it was a relatively simple thing to learn after the initial misgivings, after all. Renathan tries the command again with the whistle, awaiting the stallion's move.

The stallion responds with a hearty screech, this time a little less on the leaping antics; which was actually good. Renathan wouldn't want the creature to get exhausted before the battle really even began; so he hoped that the beastie would continue to calm down with the physical movements for this idea. Renathan treats him with a pink apple piece and then pets the stallion's flank again. He was really happy to see the creature doing so well already, but he wasn't sure how it was going to work out with the next training bit. He wanted to teach the creature to dash around a lot, which would require lots of endurance. He wanted something to keep the creature from getting attacked constantly and overpowered on the battlefield. Being able to pick and choose enemies was definitely desirable; running away from bits of battle would be a great idea for a creature that was really in the middle for a battle beast in power.

The stallion of course had no idea what was in store for him next; nor how tiring it would be. Instead, he was focused on getting more of that apple! Shy Guy was a simple creature himself. He cared about food, mares (and stallions), and his herd, and that was about it. However, he was also quite aggressive, though Renathan had managed to tame him quite well. He watches Renathan with those bright blue eyes, waiting for another command so that he could get those apple pieces. After a moment or two, the mammalian makes that nose again; a long windy sound with a sharp noise afterward. The stallion had been doing this for a long time, and had began to get very good at memorizing these patterns. He quickly makes the sharp noise that would normally be his natural reaction to an enemy; that seems to make Renathan quite happy!

Apples were imminent, the stallion was sure of it. He noses towards Renathan's hand as the apple is produced, he takes it gently, knowing that his mouth could be dangerous and not wanting to hurt Renathan. He was happy to get more of the apples, blissfully ignorant of any other situations that he will be dealing with in the future here. Renathan, on the other hand, even while petting the stallion and celebrating the little win, is already thinking about the other training that needed to be completed today. Renathan runs his fingers in the slightly wet-feeling mane of the stallion while wondering about their next course of action. Perhaps another attack before training him to really perfect his dash? Which was the most important to get done today? He was about to finish out this screeching training, and he really needed to be sure... The stallion finishes his apple, and Renathan continues the current training.

Renathan uses the whistle that would signal the stallion to screech; and the stallion responds with a much less rambunctious screech; the noise was perfect, but the showy rearing earlier seems to have all but died off. That of course was great! That meant that the stallion would not tire himself out in battle going up against something much larger than himself by doing something merely showy instead of being calm and just making the scary noise. Renathan hoped that he would be quick enough to really take advantage of this noise instead of dealing with an opponent blocking him with the same. For Renathan, non-sarane battles would be a whole new thing for him! He hoped that other creatures were not a whole lot different than what they were really. He wondered if the same strategies would work, or if the wildly different types of creatures would make a whole lot of a different.

The pair continues to work on the training over the next few minutes; with Renathan giving the command of the one long whistle and then a short sharp whistle- and the stallion responding with the screech without much of an issue. A few crisp pink apple pieces are devoured by the large pure stallion, and as per the normal, lots of thoughts bounced around in Renathan's head. Renathan knew that they would continue to have to repeat this a few more times for it to really stick, so he goes ahead and continues by performing yet another long whistle to short sharp whistle command so that the equillion can answer him. Renathan is happy to see the stallion repeat the action again, so he gives the stallion a small pink crisp apple piece. As soon as the stallion was finished, the continued in this fashion for about thirty more minutes to really cement the idea.

Renathan was still trying to decide what to teach him next; he was hoping at least three things today... However, he wasn't sure whether he wanted to start with attacks, or perhaps defense, or maybe working on that perfection of dash he was thinking of. Or perhaps he would work on the creature's ability to take hits? At this point, it was really down to whatever he felt like dealing with at the moment. He knew that another attack might work for having some variety, but he wasn't really feeling the bucking attack he had planned right now. He felt like some kind of an elemental attack would work better? He may have to think about using that ice injection he had at home maybe... He shelves buck for later due to this thought. He stands there, petting the stallion on the side as he tries to decide what he'd like to do.

Renathan then considers training the lure-like thing he'd trained to his hen, and his tiny familiar. This move was a wonderful equalizer among creatures, well, considering that they do not have the danger sensing dodging thing, then it didn't seem to work too well. Renathan had spent a lot of time poring over recordings of battles in the past trying to figure out what was that strange, ephemeral, something- that made winning battles possible. So far, it seemed like a mixture of luck and some really obscure skills, the ones he'd hoped to use now. Renathan thought about this as a good idea; but then eventually begins thinking of other ideas. The lure thing would be hard to teach such an aggressive creature. He knew he'd do it in the future, but right now he wanted to give the creature the most edge in the least amount of time possible- and that the lure wouldn't work well against well-prepared animals at all.

The stallion noses Renathan on his arm as he tries to figure out what the man wanted him to do next. He wanted more apples today, and Renathan had to give him commands so that he would get them, after all! The mental stimulation was probably good for Shy Guy; not that Renathan failed to give them any enriching things in their environment; Renathan did think of those things all the time. He was sure to make sure that the creatures had meaningful things to do when he wasn't around. However, he knew that working with a creature was certainly one of the more interesting things to most of the animals. Shy Guy was already showing a remarkable ability to figure out what he was wanting; perhaps because of what he had done working with him. All of that hard work was a lot of a help, after all. Renathan continues to think about what to do next, working his fingers into the stallion's mane.

The stallion nuzzles Renathan's hand and then his shoulder, trying to get his attention a bit more. He wanted to work, by goodness! However, Renathan was lost in his mind again, or according to the stallion's ability to figure out things; ignoring him or asleep standing up. Sometimes, the stallion slept standing up to! So the stallion leans forward and licks Renathan right upside the head while he waits, perhaps in order to "wake him up"? Renathan was still in his mind though. Perhaps actually training the lure thing to the stallion was a bad idea; he was about middlingly slow from what Renathan could tell, when it came to creatures in general, and he knew that being middlingly slow wasn't good for going up against much faster creatures. So if not the lure, then what? Renathan still has not decided, but his standing beside the stallion was really causing the stallion to be worried about him due to his inaction.

Renathan was quiet and calm, but the lick was kind of snapping him out of his deep thought. Renathan gently places his hand on the stallion's muzzle pats him, slowly removing himself from his thoughts that had been keeping him from truly just making a decision. That was when he realized that the stallion had began drooling some kind of strange pink and blue colored... Acid? Renathan steps back, fearfully; and then it hit him- he'd seen this before! Renathan knew exactly what this was; and it was that stuff that kind of made things a bit high. He'd only ever seen it from pteropty before- but it looked to be about the same consistency! That gave Renathan all kinds of ideas- he wondered if the stallion could spit that like a projectile? How would he even make the stallion spit that? He had things to think about again, but he was happy to have made a decision!

Renathan decides that the goop would be a great option in fights; perhaps for those that are faster than him but not strong enough to do a knockdown immediately? Renathan figured that they may as well use it, just in case! Renathan knew that he would have to come up with a command for it, of course, as well as figure out exactly how to get the stallion to produce the goop in the first place. Renathan knew that it seemed to localize around his mouth and eyes; but he figured that the chances of getting it on the opponent out of his eyes would be a bad idea. So, mouth-goop it was, it seems! Renathan knows that mouth-goop usually was created when food was around; as in drool-goop, but he wasn't sure if this psychedelic-y goop was going to work the same way? Renathan pets the stallion on his nose gently. The mammalian was going to have to figure this out one way or another!

Renathan reaches into his pouch and brushes past the little pink apple slices. The stallion would be used to those; no, they would not be useful in this case. He knew at this point that such typical treats would not cause the stallion to drool sufficiently. He had several ideas, but he wanted to try the easiest ones first. Among the easiest; the small special treat he had in this pouch just beneath the pink apples; a larger, slightly thicker-rind type of fruit. This one was also pink, he hoped that the equillion would associate it with a special treat due to the coloration. However, this fruit had a more strong scent to it; almost like a cross between lilacs and vanilla; perhaps with just the hint of spice. Renathan pulls the coveted fruit from the pouch and lifts it to his own nose before holding his hand out to the beloved Equillion.

The stallion seemed unsure of what to think, but confident. He snakes out his (slightly more graceful-looking than a horse) neck and goes to remove the fruit from Renathan's palm in a stately manner, with an expression that Renathan could only imagine was the equillion equivalent of a lord removing his sword from it's hilt slowly. Renathan moves his hand back, curling at the wrist inward, keeping the juicy, vibrant fruit away from the stallion equillion. The equillion looks away from the fruit momentarily, almost intelligently, and snorts, looking at him straight in the eyes. All of this was if to say; 'how dare you take away that fruit?' It wasn't as if Renathan had not done something similar before, but not with something that just looked so delicious to the stallion, Renathan was sure. Renathan offers the fruit again, and then curls his hand back just as the stallion opens his mouth...

Renathan peers at the stallion's mouth during this time, catching sight of those creepy fangs. Horses certainly did not have fangs, and non-tainted equillion certainly did not have them either! However, this pure was a bit different, surely because of his venomous nature, like that of a snake perhaps? Renathan didn't know much about the venomous snakes of the world, let alone the snakelike beasts here at the labs... Ah, perhaps the... what were they called now- Salaves? He'd heard that some, but not all of them, were venomous in some manner. Renathan wondered what the kind of venom that the stallion had been outfitted with was. Renathan reaches out, petting the stallion's shoulder with the other hand, and then he offered the fruit again, getting another good look at the jaws. No, the stallion was not drooling... This was going to prove to be much more difficult than he had first thought.
