Renathan began walking forward at that point, keeping his hand with the light pink apple piece in his hand a bit further away from the equillion than would allow the equillion to snatch the bit of apple from him. The stallion follows him for a goodly amount of time at a decent distance, but just a little closer than he had last time. It is slowly beginning to become apparent to Renathan that equillion are actually... smartish. They are different than sarane, certainly, but just as (if not a little more in his books) smart. Perhaps it was simply Renathan's experience with just this equillion? Renathan allows the stallion to take the bit of apple not too long after he begins, and then he reaches up as if he were to pat the stallion's nose just a little... The stallion flashes his teeth at him, and stomps a hoof. Renathan allows his hand to drop. Maybe he'd try that again another time.

The Stallion watches as the humanoid walks away from him on the outside of the containment. He had began to feel as if the inside was his running grounds, and he wasn't sure if he liked the idea of the strange (probably predator) creature coming into his area. It was becoming more and more common for him to be lead away from his group and interred here, not that it had become any easier to deal with. Now he realized that there were ways of being reunited with his group; and that each day he'd be returned to them. That had made him less anxious, indeed. The humanoid would return every now and again, and give him little treats. The creature did not seem to like the idea of being groomed; every time he went to groom him after being fed the creature would jerk away. He wasn't sure what that meant. He could hear the sound again; that sound meant food. He should go to the creature; that seemed to cause the least amount of trouble. He wanted to be returned to his group, and his foals; but this would do for now.

Renathan waits until the stallion gets close to him before clicking with his tongue again. He knew that giving adequate positive reinforcement and repetition would be a great way of training this otherwise shy and aggressive creature. The stallion does follow him, and begins blowing at him whenever Renathan stops to give him his treat. The stallion sniffs at his hand first, and then after that grabs the treat with his lips and places the crisp apple piece in his mouth. Renathan is secretly a bit happy about this new development, but he doesn't want to seem too excited, and make the equillion nervous. After this, the stallion seems to get excited, and quickly bolts away without warning, racing out into the middle of the field. Well, he seems to be quite excitable! Renathan is content to watch the large but delicate-looking creature as he jumps about, almost looking like he is dancing. Today seemed to be going quite well!

Renathan decides to watch the stallion for a while before continuing the training. He knows that it would be the best idea to try to wean the equillion off of the idea of the 'come' command whistle, because he wanted the two commands to be recognized as separate. He did, however, thank his lucky stars that the equillion was not yet trying to follow him around in an annoying manner. He would be trying to train that behavior next; a modified attempt at making the equillion stay in one place after being given the command. Renathan had been planning this for some time, and it was going surprisingly well. He waits until the equillion trots up to a 'safe' distance away from him, and then he clicks his tongue at the stallion, holding a piece of apple in his hand. The stallion is breathing hard from his display of excitement, but is otherwise keeping his pale blue eyes on Renathan.

Renathan typically tended to receive his creatures from other sellers, but this rather unruly boy was a creature that he had bought straight from the labs, at a very high price. Renathan's trade allowed him to often be a bit... Ah, more moneyed that some of the folk in the labs. The fact that he had otherwise been a bit too busy to work extensively with this animal had attested to his moneyed nature, which he wished to remedy in the future. The stallion had been made specifically to his tastes, and that made him a fine animal to see. The pure equillion watches Renathan with curious eyes before trotting to him, carrying his head just the smallest amount higher this time. That was great! He appeared to be getting more used to Renathan. He follows Renathan for a good distance before Renathan gives him the piece of apple. Now, for the true test.

Renathan thought for a moment, and then began walking away. He glances back at the equillion, and then continues walking a few more steps. Then, he takes off at a full run before stopping and looking back at the equillion stallion to make sure that he was not indeed following him. To Renathan's delight, he was not! Renathan then stops and comes back to the equillion. He proceeds to click his tongue twice, and then walk forward at a slow pace. The equillion begins following him, a little closer than he had before. At this point, Renathan breaks off into a light jog, and then at the realization that the creature had upped it's pace to follow him; a full on sprint. The equillion went into a light trot, perhaps little more than a pace, and continued to follow him. Renathan could have laughed at this; he was very glad! He then stopped, and the equillion moved past him, but turned to him and walked back. Renathan rewarded this good behavior with a final piece of apple. Today seemed to be at least a little bit of success, so he decides to leave and let the equillion into the corral that held the rest of the herd. He'd come back tomorrow.

Renathan was back the next day, with more of the rather infamous pink apple pieces of course! He had wondered if this particular creatures would take to a different kind of apple than the rest of his rather voracious plant eating animals, thus why he tried the green apple first. Sadly, the beast had taken to the tiny, more expensive pink apples. Renathan shook his head; most of his creatures preferred the pink apples, darn it. Today, the stallion was cantering around in the field, moving his head about. Renathan watches him frolic a bit before the stallion notices him and then calms down, his nostrils flaring and then becoming normal. Those pale blue eyes focused on him with a bit less hardness today, as he well noticed. Today Renathan was very content with the idea of training; he really wanted to get some good work in. He wanted the equillion to trust him before working on the possible battle training he had planned to help curb the stallion's mean-spiritedness. He low-wolf whistles at the stallion, and the stallion comes running to him. At this point, he puts up his hand in a 'stop' motion, and then walks away. The stallion stands, his ears pointed forward.

The stallion watches as Renathan walks a good ways away, and then feels confused. There was attention paid to him; so he knew he was supposed to do something, but there was nothing done that meant to follow him. So he waited there for an amount of time that he deemed excessive, and then walked forward, following at a long distance, one ear held back in uncertainty and the other forward, listening and waiting. Renathan turns back to the stallion for a moment and catches him following him, even at that long of a distance. Woops, no treat for Shy Guy! He allows the stallion to catch up to him, and then he places his hand in that some position again, locking eyes with the stallion in his attempt to get his point across. Then, he turns and begins to walk away yet again, glancing back to make sure the stallion was not following him.

The stallion waits until the humanoid gets to the corner of the fence, and then lens both ears back in an angry fashion. He had no idea what was going on, what the humanoid wanted from him, but he was beginning to lose his patience with him. He follows at a slower step, picking his way delicately across the ground and also trying not to be spotted. He didn't understand what he was doing wrong. As soon as Renathan realizes that the equillion is following him, even at this far distance and slow pace, he stops and walks to the stallion; holding up his hand. At this point, a thought strikes him. He places his hand against the stallion's muzzle, nearly earning himself a nip from the aggravated animal, and then he takes three steps back. Whenever the stallion doesn't move again, he takes another step back, continuously holding up his hand. The stallion does not move.

The equillion changes from it's more aggravated movements, the tail flicking and ears being leaned back, to his ears being tilted forward. This was different. The humanoid held their hand up carefully, and stepped back a few more feet. Then they stopped, walked to him, and gave him the apple piece. He snaps it up, and then looks confused. He didn't quite understand what was going on here; what was being asked of him or anything of that nature. The humanoid then holds out their hand, as they had before, and then begins to step back. The stallion takes a step forward, to follow, but as soon as he makes this movement the human comes back, with no apple piece, and begins to start again. The stallion looks confused, over the fence at the humanoid on the outside of it, and blinks his bright pale eyes. He had no idea what to do still, but he did keep his line of sight on the humanoid.

Renathan stands in front of the equillion, thinking. This was going a little better now, he was sure that by the end of today, the stallion would be understanding this voiceless command. Renathan figured that for what he was going to be using the equillion for, that voiceless commands would be the best for most of it. He raised his hand up in that same fashion, and then begins to step away. One step, two steps, three steps. One by one he backed away from the equillion, hoping to every lucky star that the equillion would keep from following him. Whenever he got five steps away without the equillion following him, he turned and walked a foot before turning back around. The stallion had not moved an inch. Then he walks up to the stallion and hands him the bit of apple to show approval. The stallion no longer looks horridly confused, and instead enjoys the little pink apple piece.

Renathan quickly decides that he will lengthen the distance that the pure equillion will allow him to get while not following him. Perhaps by the end of the day, the stallion would allow him to go infinite distances without following, and that was what he needed from the equillion. The mammalian quickly holds up his hand again, and then steps away from the stallion a good five steps, and then another five steps. At this point, he turns away, and walks another foot. He turns around, and realizes that the equillion has placed exactly one foot forward; so he decided to redo this. He walked up to the stallion, and then repeated the movement. He walks five steps, and then five steps more, and then turns away to make the next foot; then he turns. At this point, he notices that the equillion has not moved; that was good! He proceeds to return to the animal and treat him with a small piece of pink apple.

Renathan was beginning to feel a lot better about this. For a little while there, he thought that he may have to change the command component to this behavior into being something else, perhaps something vocal. Renathan opens his hand in the 'stop' position to make him stay. He waits for a moment, and then walks a good ten feet away from the equillion. He turns back around, and is glad to see that the fellow has not moved a single inch. Renathan returns to the equillion and provides him with a piece of the pink apple he seemed to prefer. Renathan then steps away another goodly amount more than that, about fifteen feet without looking back; thankfully, the stallion had not moved any more than to raise his head up slightly; this was rewarded with yet another piece of pink apple after Renathan walked more closely over to the stallion.

Renathan was hoping that the Stallion was really starting to get the behavior required of him for this specific command. He hoped that if he continued this that the next time he wanted to work with the equillion that he might actually be able to step inside the actual corral! He really did need to get on the other side of the fence if he was going to continue with other forms of training. He places his hand in the 'stop' position again and then walks away, this time a good fifteen feet without turning, and then he walks another five feet after that. When he turns around, he breaks out into a grin from underneath his mask; the stallion has once again not moved, and is instead keeping his eyes on him intently, all pale blue and a little excited. This was good, the body language was loose and nice; he figured that the equine was somehow getting this.

Renathan was not sure exactly how far he would eventually get with training this equillion, but he hoped that by the end of it, he'd be a well trained and well socialized animal. After treating the equillion yet again, he gives the hand signal and then turns around and takes off running. He was hoping that the running would be a surprise, but that the equillion would not be compelled to move and follow him due to the continued training. After a while, he stopped and turned to look at the stallion. He was happy to see that the stallion had not moved a single inch while he was off running, which was great! Renathan took his time getting back to the stallion as well, walking very slowly. The stallion did seem to get impatient, but seemed happy enough whenever Renathan gave him his tiny treat. Renathan then stepped back and grinned beneath the mask. This was going very well!
