Renathan knew that this would have to be repeated again and again, until the stallion wasn't really expressing anything over it. That was going to suck, but he steeled himself and did it anyway. Renathan turned the hose back on with the lightest setting, and the equillion looked over to him, knowing what was about to happen. However, Renathan did notice that the creature was not afraid at all. He stared him down with confidence and with hard-headedness. Renathan knew that this would be fine other than how bad this felt. Renathan began the process exactly as he did before. When he was finished, he gave the stallion some time to calm down again, and then repeated the process. He repeated the process again, and again, and again. They worked on this for over an hour, Renathan felt terrible about it. However, after long and arduous moments of using the highest power of the water hose longer and longer at a time made the stallion's skin strong and resilient. The equillion was no longer expressing any pain, though Renathan knew that it probably still hurt. He thought that it might have been a bit easier due to him having gone through pain at the gym so much lately... Renathan was pleased after another hour and a half of this repetition, until he was sure that Shy Guy was no longer expressing feeling the pain nearly as much. The skin was quite tough, Renathan could feel it. Eventually, Renathan nodded to him quietly, and they went back home for the day.

Renathan was not ready for this, but it had to be done absolutely regardless. Renathan was wanting to teach Shy Guy two things today; the first being another electrical attack he'd already seen the creature begin to practice. Renathan wasn't sure if he even wanted to really begin today, as he carefully lead Shy Guy back to the corral in the park they used to train in, before the pit. Renathan tried really hard not to think about that at all, keeping his emotions carefully neutral as he carefully let Shy Guy into the corral before closing the gate and then leaping over the corral himself. Shy Guy was fully healed, and even with the signature 'no scars' that the healers typically left them with. Renathan considered himself definitely among the lucky for that. "Alright Shy Guy, we're gonna work on some stuff today." Renathan wanted to finish his training at some point, so that he didn't feel bad about training another creature.

The idea, Renathan guessed, was to try to get the equillion to do the lightning thing he can do quite a few times in a row again, only this time try to get him to attack multiple targets at the same time, maybe? Renathan knew to take comfort, in order to keep from getting attacked with it himself. He'd heard about it before, and wanted to get into a position of cover. He had chosen a large concrete dome, and of course also found a way to tell the equillion to do it using the regular command. "Alrighty Shy Guy, let's see what we can do." Renathan said, trying not to think of the pit. He got up under the concrete dome, and he chuckled as Shy Guy put his nose up against Renathan's hand under the dome. "Okay, I'm safe now at least. Time to get started!" Renathan said.

Renathan had spent time here a few days ago, and he had put some lightning rods down in the area. He put them in a few of the trees, and in a few boulder outcroppings, and other such places. He figured that using a similar command to the lightning calling one, that Shy Guy might just use the lightning calling attack in an attempt to do the 'right attack, and then it would go to multiple different lightning rods, or at least that was what Renathan hoped anyway. Renathan gave out the command now that he was hidden under the concrete bunker far away from any of the lightning rods he had put down in preparation of this. It was the exact command of the lightning call attack, only with two added notes. Shy Guy nickered, confused, and pranced back a bit. Renathan gave the command again, similar to the lightning one, with a slight difference at the end.

Shy Guy listened, flicking his ears back and forth in confusion. Renathan was ever patient, of course, and waited for a good moment to see if Shy Guy would eventually get it. The equillion stamped his feet a bit, and lowered his head, looking down into the concrete dome at Renathan's crouched body, confused. "Alrighty Shy Guy, we'll just do this again and again until you get it. No problem." Renathan mumbled, patting his little nose. Shy Guy's nostrils flared as Renathan gently smoothed his leathery palm over his soft nose. "You're okay, Shy Guy." Renathan said. Then he went ahead and gave the command for the lightning thing again, this time once again with another set of changes at the ends, the exact same one he'd used a moment ago. Shy Guy seemed more frustrated now, and he reared up like he typically did as he called lightning.

Renathan was excited for a moment; was Shy Guy going to do the calling lightning thing? That was what the mammalian was waiting on, anyway. After a moment, the creature settled back down, snuffling at Renathan under the barrier again. Ugh, Renathan thought, this was going to take more work. "Alrighty Shy Guy, we've got to work a bit harder you know." Renathan said. The mammalian gave the command again, this time the one for calling lightning yet again, and then waited until Shy Guy started the calling lightning thing before he added the 'added notes' at the end of the command. Shy Guy had already completed the call the lightning before Renathan finished the command, but he heard the extra noises at the end. After a moment or two, Shy Guy seemed to realize that as the lightning came down, that it split across to all of the lightning rods, differently than usual.

Shy Guy may not be sentient, but he really didn't need to be. He had two things going for him; a bit of somewhat more clever than usual regular equillion witt, and of course the ability to triangulate Renathan's emotions, which he had been able to do for a very long time. Shy Guy was so used to being able to do this that when he looked up and saw all of the lightning going off in different directions, it kinda clicked for him. He was supposed to be using a more generalized electrical attack. But that was hard. He knew that trying to generalize his more concentrated strike would be difficult. Was this why... Was this why the other creatures gave him so much trouble this last time? Renathan tossed him an apple, which he snapped up with relish. "Maer Gaessh, Shy Guy!" Renathan said, feeling like this might have been the first step finally.

Now that they had this little breakthrough, Renathan decided to try a few more times today. After giving him sufficient rest, Renathan gave the command again to a much hesitant Shy Guy. After a moment of skin-shivering and prancing, Shy Guy finally arched up, back on his rear legs, and another lightning bolt fell from the sky. It dissipated between all of the lightning rods, striking each one, but not really doing the 'hopping' thing that Renathan was looking for with this. He knew that when the lightning started hopping, that Shy Guy was able to get it right. Between the two of them, there was a slight anxious feeling of failure, and that just made Shy Guy want to try harder. Renathan gave him another apple, and then waited again until he felt like he could do it again to give the same command for it again. After a moment or two, Shy Guy was up again.

Shy Guy reared up and then immediately lightning came down again, but it was quite bad- of course just hitting the lightning rods all at once in an electrical fuzz. Renathan stayed beneath the concrete dome. Renathan gave him only a slice of apple this time, and that made Shy Guy super determined to do better. Renathan would give the command, and then Shy Guy would try. He knew what Renathan wanted, could triangulate it from the emotional link, but he didn't know how to do it. Each time he would try something different, usually with it fizzling out. His attempts to control the lightning bolt was really just dampening it. The mammalian kept giving the command, and then Shy Guy would try, and then he would give them a piece of apple for it. After a while of continuing the repetition training aspect, Shy Guy finally had another breakthrough.

Renathan clearly saw, with his own two eyes, Shy Guy strike the first post before the second, and then the third- but soon it dissipated. That was a great start! "Maer Gaessh, Shy Guy!" Renathan said, excitedly. He threw him a full apple from under the concrete dome. They went home and then came back the next day, with Renathan removing the lightning rods this time, and replacing them with markers. Renathan gave the command once he was safely beneath the concrete dome. Shy Guy immediately seemed to have way more vigor than he had the other day. He shocked each of the markers in turn, in a rolling motion. YES! "Maer Gaessh, Shy Guy!" He called out, and then he tossed another apple at him. Shy Guy caught it, obviously feeling much more confident now , and Renathan quickly gave the command a few more times. Each time Shy Guy got much better at it, rolling the lightning along this time instead of in one spot.

Renathan was pleased with this development. They spent another good hour working on this off and on. Renathan would work with Shy Guy on it until he started looking very tired and very sweaty, and then Renathan quietly took Shy Guy down to the brook to let him swim and calm down. Renathan knew that they had training to do here at some point, as well. After that, Renathan calls the equillion out of the water, and then they go out and do another repetition cycle. Renathan got underneath the concrete dome, and then gave the command again. Shy Guy would roll the lightning, hitting each of the markers in turn, quite quickly. Renathan would give him a treat, tell him he was doing good, and then he would start again. They did this for another hour before Renathan was absolutely sure that he knew the command well enough. Renathan was very pleased!
