Now it was time for the final test for today; well, Renathan hoped that it would be the final test. With any luck, the Stallion would not follow him whenever he walked any distance, even if he could not be seen. Renathan then puts his hand up in the command for the stallion to stay, that stop position that the stallion was beginning to know quite well, and then Renathan began to walk. Then he began to run. He ran past the corner of the corral, and then turned the corner. He ran along that side of the fence, and then walked. He walked around that side of the fence, and turned the third corner. He just kept running and then walked the final amount, all the way to the stallion. To his excitement, the stallion had indeed not moved, and instead was surprised when he saw him coming from the opposite direction! Renathan treated him with an entire pink apple, happy that he followed the command. Then he opened the corral so that the equillion could go back to his herd. Today was a good day.
Today was the day; and honestly, Renathan was nervous, and that was for certain. Today Renathan figured that the Stallion may finally let him get in the corral; and if he is lucky, perhaps touch him for longer than two seconds. Renathan had been hoping that he'd be able to get to this point, but he was surprised that he'd gotten to it so early. Today was only the fourth day he was out in the corral; this creature was learning so fast he could hardly keep up with it. Renathan finds his way to the fence and watches as the stallion stands, rooting about at the ground with his muzzle. Renathan honestly had no idea what the stallion was doing. He called out for him using the low-wolf whistle, and the creature fixed his eyes on him, all pale blue. Then when the stallion got close enough, he leans over the fence quietly, not staring directly at the equillion.

For a small amount of time, the mammalian stood there, looking peaceful. He could feel the sun gently warming his fur, and the light breeze cooling it about the same time. It was a quiet day, and that was certainly good. He wanted the equillion to get used to his presence, and what better way to do that then to share a calm and collected day? He knew this process would take a little longer than the simpler training exercises, especially since the equine had basically been an outlaw up until this point. Renathan slowly leans forward on the fence, until the top half of his body is decently leaned over into the corral. The equillion stares at him for a long beat, but does not snort or act aggressively. Renathan steps up onto the fence with his feet on the bottom-most rung, testing his limits with the stallion. So far, so good.
Renathan was now full-bodied standing on the fence, with his feet on the bottom-most rung and his arms crossed over the top of the fence. He continues not staring directly at the stallion, and instead watches out over the field with a sort of calm, while also making sure to watch for sudden movements from the equillion. He stays like that for about five minutes, waiting on the moment to feel right, and then he turns and looks at the equillion. The equillion looked calm, neutral even. The beast had his large eyes on Renathan, but they didn't seem hardened or harsh at him. He was not blinking hard, moving rapidly, or twisting his tail. That made Renathan feel like they might just be able to make some progress today, perhaps even further than the current progress! He didn't want to be too fast on the equillion, but he was too excited to let the possibility of further progress in the training go.

Renathan stands there carefully, making sure that any sudden movement from the aggressive equillion could be met with Renathan escaping the possibly snappy reaction. Renathan had been doing research on the stallion's strange natural quirks lately, and he'd sent a sample of the stallion's drool to a veterinarian to be checked. It was indeed true; the stallion appeared to have two separate dangers in his saliva; one of which was a form of acid, the other appeared to be a natural venom. Renathan knew that his body probably wouldn't take searing acid too well; his people were notoriously fragile when it came to toxins. He watches the stallion with a little more of a wary eye, but he also knows that even though the stallion has an attitude, that he was perhaps even designed not to see Renathan as a major threat, or perhaps even to feel safer around him. He wasn't too sure, but he did know that for all his displays of strength and rage, the equillion could have hurt him previously, and had not.
Renathan focuses for a moment on the sun and breeze again before taking a small breath. He knows that now is the moment; now or never today. He climbs slowly to the top of the fence, where he sits down, and then scoots off into the corral without thinking about it too much. He waits to feel the tell-tale feeling of danger prickling along his nerves, which he would instinctively get the heck away from, but he does not feel it. He glances over to where the stallion is standing and is surprised to see the equillion looking a little confused, but not otherwise acting dangerously towards him. Renathan stands there, focusing on the sun and breeze to calm himself, because he knows at this point any sudden or scary movements might could set their progress back several weeks. He'd been trying to get the stallion used to his presence, after all.
Renathan was still utterly shocked that the equillion had not attempted to bite him yet, so he turns back, climbs back out of the corral, and decides to wait until tomorrow to continue with the training. Today had certainly been leaps and bounds for the two. He allows the stallion into the corral with the rest of his herd, and then leaves. The next day, he returns, and immediately leans over the fencing to get a good look at the stallion. The pure equillion was laying down today, apparently asleep. Renathan decides to press his luck, and jumps the fence to land over in the soft spring grass of the corral. He stands there, deciding not to pester the equillion until he woke up naturally. After a little amount of time, the equine finishes his nap and stands up immediately. He looks very serene today; perhaps he was getting used to being turned out into this corral away from his group, or perhaps he was just getting used to Renathan being around him.
The stallion trots over to where Renathan is standing inside the corral and leaning with his arms crossed and his back against the fence. The stallion stops not too far away from him, and Renathan simply looks in his direction. They stand there, perceiving one another in an amicable manner. After a moment, Renathan slowly, ever so slowly, leans up and off of the fence, and takes a couple of steps towards the stallion. Then, he stands there quietly. The sun was partially obscured by clouds today, making for a nice and pleasant midday. Soon, Renathan has moved quite close to the usually disagreeable creature, closer than he had been previously. The stallion doesn't move, but his ears swivel, one to the front and the other to the back. Renathan gives him some time to adjust to this strange moment, since it must be a little odd to see him up close, or perhaps even just to smell him up close.
At this point; it hits Renathan like a freight train. That is, the smell. Most of Renathan's creatures got a bath at least once a week, some of them a little less often (especially his felines) but this particular creature never allowed him to wash him. That was evident now; the stallion had been given ample dust bathing areas, but he had not been washed save for one time since Renathan had came into possession of him. The equine smell of the stallion was just about strong enough for one to fall over due to it! Renathan wrinkles his nose, beneath his mask, and then decides it was time. He slowly raises his hand, ever so slowly, and places his palm to the creature's muzzle, atop of his nose but not on the sensitive nose area. The pure equillion seemed to consider his courses of action for a moment, and then he nuzzles the hand back, giving Renathan exactly what he'd hoped for. Renathan removes his hand, and gives the stallion a pink apple. Then, Renathan leave for the day, allowing the equillion back to his herd.
The next day, the Stallion was waiting for him at the fence. Renathan makes his way to the fence, and just as he begins to climb over, the stallion pushes his nose into Renathan's shoulder. Well, that was a good sign! Renathan moves over the fence, and then grins. Today seemed like it would be a good day, the pure was in great spirits. He let the equine nuzzle his hand again, and then he leaned forward, placing his hand on the equine's shoulder. When that was met was met with no resistance or ill effect, he gave the pure a good pat on the shoulder, and moved down it's side. When he got to the creature's great flank; he was met with a slight picking-up of the hind leg on that side. He realized that this might have meant that the creature didn't like being touched there, so he removes his hand slowly. He looks at the equillion happily, his eyes shining behind the mask. This was very good; great progress today!
Renathan treated the equillion with another piece of apple after that, and patted his great muzzle gently. He was happy for the progress made, but didn't want to push it too far. He left that day not too long afterward, and made it a habit to come back every day that week with similar results. He'd return, pet the stallion, and then give it a treat. The stallion was beginning to grow less nervous of Renathan's movements, but Renthan still dared not to walk behind the equillion; just in case it failed to see him and delivered a kick. Renathan finally began feeling comfortable around the stallion, and Shy Guy appeared to be growing more comfortable with him as well. The equillion finally started seeking him out even at home when they were with the rest of the herd; when Renathan would go to feed them, the equillion would give him the faintest of nuzzles on his hands.
Renathan was beginning to feel like the Stallion was getting used to him being around enough to begin with the final legs of the training; so he hoped to complete it this week. Renathan has the stallion in his smaller, separated area again today already, but he comes earlier than he typically does. He wants to make as much progress today as the day will allow him. As soon as he is within earshot of the equillion, Shy Guy comes galloping at what could possibly be a rack, now that Renathan has been studying equine movement to help with this process. Renathan stands at the fence for a moment, petting the stallion whenever he comes near on the muzzle. At this, he climbs over the fence without much ado, and the stallion bumps his head into Renathan's shoulders as he lands on the other side. Renathan chuckles, and gently pets the stallion on the side. This was getting much better already.
Renathan was quiet for a little while, just enjoying the day with the typically antagonistic creature; seeing as his antagonism has been quite a bet less troublesome lately. It seemed that the stallion worked much better when kept busy; the poor creature seemed to be very energetic and sometimes bored. Renathan would have to think of ways to keep the witty creature from being bored to keep it out of trouble, in the future. He wondered if making something for it to climb on would be a good idea in the future? He continues petting the equine's side, and then his flank. He's slow in this transition, as he does not want to spook the creature into disliking him touching him. Renathan waits, gently petting and stroking his side. Renathan has not yet tried anything more adventurous than this; he'd been taking the tolerance training very slowly to make sure not to lose progress. He hoped to progress more today.
Renathan was quite happy with the progress, but did not want to overdo it just yet. He sits back and waits a moment after petting the stallion; and ponders on the quality of the sunlight, breeze, and soft grass. He didn't love the spring like he did the fall; but it was nice nonetheless to come out of a horrid depression-causing winter to see the sun and rain. He opens his eyes, and turns toward the stallion again, who also seemed to be quite calm. He twitches his skin across his body just a little on the back, and Renathan's attention is drawn to just the smallest fly attempting to pester the equillion. "Yeah buddy, we have to get you washed." The stallion does stink, as Renathan hadn't been able to wash him since he got him save for dust bathing. Renathan gently pets the stallion's shoulder again, carefully.
Renathan was careful not to spook the stallion up to this point. Even though the creature kept his head carried high and without threatening him with his horn these days, that pure black horn was still looking very frightening. It was easily as long as Renathan's forearm! He then moves to the other side of the Stallion, and begins petting him on that side. So far, so good! The stallion does not seem to be bothered by this, though he did take a step back when Renathan passed in front of him. Renathan was a bit nervous about the possibilities with walking behind the stallion, so quite frankly he did not planning on doing so. He did know that issues with passing in front of the equine would be a vice he wasn't willing to deal with; so he decided to move back to the original side by passing in front of the stallion again. He wanted to get him used to Renathan moving around him.
