The two birdlike creatures paused, every limb quivering with anticipation, waiting for Emery to throw the ball... but that wasn't her goal. Instead she held it steady, and when the pair didn't approach, she squeaked it again. She wanted them to be polite- to come take it from her. Ayzere glanced up at Damir, who decided to take the initiative and walk forward first. Emery wasn't surprised that the kair proved to be braver than the kairfuryoo. He sniffed at the ball gently, and Emery reached out her other hand to touch him on the head. He flinched away from the gesture at first, but eventually leaned into it, her gently searching fingers. She pressed the ball into his tiny hands, but he almost immediately dropped it. Kair were less dexterous than kairfuryoo to start with, and even then he couldn't walk on two legs yet. Instead, he chased the ball back over to Ayzere, who seemed thrilled to have a new toy. Emery gazed at her, but the young kairfuryoo didn't meet her gaze, apparently still too hesitant to try and meet her properly. They'd get there eventually. For now the children seemed to be having a great time, batting the ball back and forth.

Emery watched them idly as they chased back and forth. Every so often one of them would pin the ball down and bounce on it, making it squeak wildly to the kids' delight. But then the other one would come and tackle them off of it, wanting to take the ball for themselves. And sometimes they worked collaboratively, hitting the ball between themselves so it squeaked loudly every time it connected with one of their claws. Emery was glad that it was made of such tough rubber- they were sure putting a beating on it. The games spread across the little concrete square they were sat in, but thankfully they didn't end up wandering down one of the paths. They didn't know any commands yet so Emery wouldn't be able to recall them, and she didn't want to have to stand back up again either. Eventually the ball ran right over Emery's foot, and Damir just barely managed to jump over the same obstacle- she could feel his claws just barely scraping the top of her shoe as he leapt over. He made it however, and soon he had pounced on the ball on the other side, turning his head back towards Ayzere.

He puffed his chest out proudly as he did so, as if to say "Did you see what I just did?". It was indeed a pretty fancy act of acrobatics... for a baby. Ayzere di seem plenty impressed however, chirping a few times and puffing up. They then resumed their game, but Emery could see Ayzere looking back at Emery, as if remembering what she had just seen. Sure enough, every time Ayzere got ahold of the ball she bounced it back towards Emery. She didn't quite make it each time as Damir would usually pounce on either her or the ball, but slowly their game made its way closer to the human again. Finally, Ayzere managed to do the same thing Damir did- she smacked the ball with a foreclaw, sending it bouncing over the ground and over Emery's foot, causing it to 'leap' high in the air. The kairfuryoo dashed after it, her lighter frame carrying her faster than her brother for once. She leapt- and one of her back feet caught on Emery's boot, causing the baby kairfuryoo to come crashing to the ground, legs all splayed. The ball bounced away uselessly into the bushes, uncaught by anyone.

Emery had the feeling she wouldn't be pleased about that- and she was right. A few shocked moments passed, during which Damir came up and sat next to Ayzere, putting a paw on her back to see if she was okay. That seemed to snap the other child out of her stupor, and she almost immediately opened her beak, letting out a wailing series of peeps, surprisingly loud for such a tiny creature. Damir tried to snuggle in closer to comfort her, but Emery saw her opportunity. She carefully plucked Ayzere off the ground, letting the tiny creature curl up against her chest. She took her vocalizer's volume down a few notches in an attempt to sound comforting. "There, there. You're alright. You are unharmed." She said while patting Ayzere on the back. The kairfuryoo's wails slowly quieted down to a pathetic cheeping noise. She wasn't hurt, but she was undoubtedly embarrassed, or surprised, or THOUGHT she was hurt... and Emery was happy to "give her a kiss to make her feel better", so to speak. It seemed to be working, as the baby slowly grew more quiet and still. Emery glanced down as she felt something pull against her pant leg, however.

Emery watched as Damir used the rough fabric of her pants for traction as he climbed up Emery's leg and onto the park bench. He sidled up next to Emery. "...Hello." She said, unsure of what he was doing. He pawed at Emery's sleeve- perhaps, requesting his sister back. Emery paused- she was trying to facilitate a bond, here. But, she could do both at once. "...Fine. Come here." She said, and lifted her elbow. Damir needed no further invitation, snuggling himself up under Emery's arm, practically burying his face in Ayzere's chest. Emery let her elbow rest on his back as Ayzere finally grew quiet. She saw the kairfuryoo's eyes growing heavy, blinking more and more slowly. It looked like they had worn themselves out. It made sense- they were only babies after all, so their energy wasn't going to be infinite. Emery was happy to take a break. Once they had a little nap, perhaps they could finally go home. Sure enough, after half an hour or so they grew a bit more active again, but nowhere near their rambunctious energy from before. Emery took the opportunity to stand up, Ayzere still tucked into the crook of her arm, and picked up the ball. With Damir trotting along after her, the trio finally went home.

Ramal grinned with the end of his story, expecting some kind of reaction from Zenjesi and possibly even Marian. The Bulldozer watched him and he watched her in turn, each of them pretending they didn't know that she would eat his other foot, given the slightest chance to do so.
Zenjesi's follow up question took them by surprise. They wanted to know what happened next? Well, that would be a much harder story to tell, but he was willing to give it a shot. "I don't know," he said, shaking his head and lowering his leg.
"It happens very fast, shoom," he waved his hands dramatically in a swiping motion. "It was like being hit with a ... house! Then I guess some guards find me, maybe I am screaming, and they bring me inside."
"Nobody else is hurt, I think monster was just scared, you know, scared we will hurt her baby."
Despite everything that happened, he showed a lot of empathy for the monster. Every time he relived the moment, every time he tossed and turned while dreaming of it, he could not get the sight of her terrified eyes out of his mind. That moment - two pairs of fear soaked eyes locked in to one another - that moment was burned into his memory and ripped into his flesh.

This seemed a dire topic, at least as much the conversation about banishment had been. Yet Ramal was smiling, and Zenjesi found the expression mirrored on their own face subconsciously. Perhaps worryingly, Marian's eyes did track Ramal's leg as he lowered it once more. She took one step in his direction before Zenjesi hissed a "No!" that magically froze her in place. While Ramal continued his story, Zenjesi patiently dragged her entire stiff body around so that her tail was pointed towards their friend instead.
At his quick gesture, they jumped in surprise, deeply invested in the outcome of his tale. Like being hit with a house? They did not spend very much time near the water, but the thought of a creature like what Ramal described lurking in the shadowy depths was fascinating on its own. And as the story included, the satyr looked to him with bright and wide eyes. "Ramal... you are a hero," they whispered. Then they repeated it more emphatically. "You are a hero. You should not be banished." The sensation of righteous anger was beginning to well up within them once more.
Was what Ramal had done ill-advised? Evidently so. But his intentions had been pure. Could anyone not see that? It seemed patently unfair to Zenjesi that such a thing be punished so severely, especially when his ignorance regarding the danger also appeared to be his community's fault. And to be exiled for a simple consequence of nature... Zenjesi shook their head. "Did the child escape?"
