[Bite – 5]
While she knew that this training would stick with him as she explained it one last time, she hoped that she was going to be this lucky with the rest of this training. Jack smiled a little and thought about it for a little bit, unsure as to what Heathen was going to do with the rest of this training, at least he had a foundation for biting things, but there wasn’t for anything else she was going to train him. ”Bite!” she told him, pointing at the log again, and the Houluh bit down on the log, breaking it a little more but not splintering it, that was stronger than he was able to do for now at least. Jack rubbed his head a little and smiled at him, hoping that things would work out together for them for a little while, but until she knew what he was capable of, that was going to be hard to find out. Luckily for her, she was stubborn, she would do it until she was good with it.

[Claw – 1]
Taking a little break from that, she figured he had it down but they could revisit it later if they needed to, she took his paw in her hand. Heathen pulled it back until she gave him a stern look and then took it again and pulled his claws over the log, ”When I point and say claw, you do this as hard as you can.” As she explained it to him, the pup pulled his paw back again as he sat there, wondering what the woman was going on about. This didn’t make much sense, he didn’t do this kind of thing on his own, so why did she want to teach him how to do it? Didn’t that worry her a little, considering he could do this at home and wreak havoc on everything? Jack smiled and tousled his ears from side to side for a moment as she thought about it, she had faith in him.

[Claw – 2]
It was kind of hard to get back into the swing of things, she had taken a bit of a break for a little while and now she was trying to throw herself back into it. This was hard to do, she knew, but didn’t know what else to do about it. Jack sighed a little and rubbed her face, unsure as to what to do for a bit, but then she pointed at the log again, ”Claw!” He looked at his paws, then at her, then at the log, before he carefully drew the claws on one paw over the log. Glancing over at her, he saw she was happy about it and was getting ready to toss him a treat. Heathen snapped it up in midair and tilted his head, wondering why he was learning things like this, it just didn’t make much sense when it all came down to it. It didn’t matter, he supposed, nothing much made sense from the woman at this point!

[Claw – 3]
That was alright, he figured at some point the woman might make sense, but it probably wouldn’t be soon. Heathen clawed at the log again a little lighter than she wanted him to do when she said the command word once more. Jack smiled a little and tossed him a treat, wondering if he would get it down pretty quickly or not. They still had a little ways to go of course, but that didn’t bother her at the moment. Pushing her hair back, she then patted the pup on the head as she tried to figure out what to do with him as he looked at the small claw marks on the log. He had done that, but he didn’t know why he was doing it, and that was what bothered him right now. The woman usually had her reasons, but he didn’t understand them most of the time. Why teach him how to attack things if he didn’t get the chance to do it normally?

[Claw – 4]
His claws raked across the log again when she gave the command one more time, ”Claw, Heathen!” The pup dragged them deeply across the log, though not as deep as they probably could if he were, say, a Vulticus. All she knew was that she was doing pretty well at this point, and she knew he was going to get things done after awhile of training this time. At least she figured out that if she got this done, then they could do what they needed to do at the moment. Jack pushed her hair back and sighed, she didn’t know what to think of the pup at the moment, he was doing well, but that didn’t mean much right now. She shook her head and tossed him a treat for doing a good job, which he snapped out of the air and munched on for a moment before he swallowed.

[Claw – 5]
At least she knew he was trying, even though he didn’t quite understand some of it. Jack stood there for awhile and then gave him the command again, ”Claw!” She pointed at the log, and the pup pulled his claws over the log, making long indents. He was pleased with himself when she ruffled his ears from side to side for a moment, his soft fur felt good under her calloused hand. Part of her wondered what it would be like to just not train after awhile, but that wasn’t her, now was it? Sighing, she sat down at the picnic table and rubbed her face as Heathen cleaned his claws off from the wood splintered in them, and she hoped that the rest of the training would go well in the long run. Everything was going to be fine, but that didn’t matter either, she just needed to get it done.

[Dash – 1]
Now this was going to be interesting considering the pup didn’t know how to run on command. That was going to be the hard part, but she could always explain it to him thanks to the ring on her finger. She smiled a little and shook her head, wondering what to do about things at the moment, but this was the best way to do it right now, or at least she thought that much. ”When I say dash, you need to run as quick as you can in one direction, okay?” she explained to him, then said it, ”Dash!” Heathen stumbled a little as he started running in one direction, though he wasn’t too fast and he wasn’t too skilled on his paws. Well, that would change soon enough, she knew. At least he was learning, though it wasn’t too terribly quickly, which was a shame for now wasn’t it?

[Dash – 2]
Jack patted him on the head still and ruffled his ears from side to side, giving him a treat for doing his best to at least try to get it done. There wasn’t much to do right now aside from train him, at least the next few things would be better than this was. Of course she could teach him to run and have better endurance than the other things she was going to teach him, but this would help her out immensely if she did it this way, so this was the way she was going to do it! Jack smiled and then pointed out into the Park, ”Dash!” Heathen picked up his paws and ran off again as quickly as he could, which, admittedly, still wasn’t very quick, but that was alright, it was better than the last time at this point. Tossing him a treat, she let him eat and get a drink before they went at it again, she didn’t want to wear him out just yet after all.

[Dash – 3] ”Dash!” she told him again, pointing away, and the pup dashed off again, this time a bit quicker than he had to begin with. Still, when he made it back to her he was panting, they were going to have to take a lot of breaks with this training, she knew. Most animals only had a certain amount of stamina for running and dashing, and he was one of them, certainly. Jack patted him on the head and got him some more water and another treat, smiling as she ran her hands over his soft fur. Things would be alright, it was just slow going for now, she knew, and the woman leaned against the picnic table as she sighed and looked across the Park for a little while. It would be alright, she knew, but nothing was going to happen for now. As she wondered what was going to happen for now, she hoped it would all work out in the end.

[Dash – 4]
Everything was going well, she just had to figure out how to inspire him a little bit. She could work on that later though, when the training would get more intense after he grew again though. That was the main point of all this training, to get him to go through his show now and not have to worry about him anymore with being able to fight and protect the rest of the pack, even though Luna was more alpha than he was. ”Dash!” she told him quickly, pointing away after he stopped panting for a little while, and he clambered to his paws and shot off into the distance before he trotted back to her, panting again with a little yawn. She would let him rest for a little while still and then things would be fine, they would try once again and it was all going to be fine.

[Dash – 5]
Well, just once more and she figured they could call it quits for a little while as he recuperated. Jack smiled and then pointed toward the horizon, ”Heathen, dash!” The pup took off as fast as he could and then trotted back, panting still but maybe not as much. It was fine at this point, she knew, but the pup collapsed at her feet as he tried to catch his breath. It was tough work, she knew, and she ruffled his ears again and smiled at him, wondering what to do next. There were only two more things she wanted to train him before his show, but that was going to take some time still, she knew. Jack sighed a little and shook her head, unsure of where to go right now with everything, but at least right now she knew what she needed to get done, it was just if she would get it done in a timely manner.

[Dodge – 1]
He needed to learn how to dodge attacks to keep safe, just in case. She smiled a little as she found her pile of rocks in another area and tossed one up and caught it before she threw it at the pup, ”Dodge!” At least this wouldn’t take as long as it took for them to learn how to sense danger, that was a good thing. Jack chuckled at the pup as it hit him on the haunch, and he whined a little, trying to understand what was going on. ”Move out of the way of the rock when I throw it and say that word, Heathen,” she explained to him with a nod. Heathen nodded a little as well and eyed her, trying to catch her doing something she shouldn’t be at this point, though that wasn’t necessarily what needed to happen. Whatever happened, at least she was going to be safe, unlike the pup right now.

[Dodge – 2]
Jack liked doing this training, it was fun and sometimes it got some of her own aggression and frustration out, though it wasn’t like she was going to hurt them on purpose of course. Pushing her hair back, she then threw the rock at him, ”Dodge!” He scampered out of the way as best as he could, but was still hit on the haunch by the rock, to which he whined again and glowered at her for a moment or two before she tossed him a treat. Hey, at least he was trying, that was more than she could really say about previous training. She had thought to teach him how to jump on command, but that wasn’t going to be too useful right now, maybe when he was a little bigger it would be good, but not for now, she thought with a small nod. Well, this might not be too bad, she figured.

[Dodge – 3]
At least she was trying with him, she hadn’t given up and that was a good thing. Of course he didn’t like the training so much, but that wasn’t her fault she thought. It was because he was stubborn and didn’t want to learn anything new half the time, or at least that’s what she thought. The woman smiled and threw another rock at him, ”Dodge! If you don’t dodge, you get hit!” Heathen scampered off again, getting hit on the tail, which meant he was certainly getting better at this point, and she smiled happily, tossing him a treat as she wondered what to do at the moment. Of course she still needed to work with him on this, it wasn’t like she was just going to roll over and let him win things like this. He needed to learn at least one more thing after this, and he hadn’t even gotten this one down as of yet. There was still work to be done, and she was confident it would happen soon.

[Dodge – 4]
The pup took a drink of water before they started off again, and the woman thought it was a good thing he did so. At least now she didn’t have to worry about him getting dehydrated or anything. Jack threw another rock, ”Dodge!” She smiled when he got out of the way just in time to not get hit. That was great, he was getting so much better! Tossing a treat to him, she then rubbed his head as he ate, and she hoped that things would work out for him in the future. She knew that Kro could handle anything that came the way of the Kennel, but having some backup wasn’t a horrible idea at the same time. Smiling, she leaned back on her heels and looked up at the bright sky. At least it was a decent day outside, that made training that much easier, she figured with a little chuckle. No wonder everything was going well for her at the moment.
