The final twin set of legs up front went up over her hand as she moved along it as well, and he finally let her touch his leg to move it on her own at the same time instead of just avoiding her hand completely. He sniffed at her and then nuzzled her shoulder a bit, still not used to her but slowly getting there. It appeared as though he knew his name now, among other things, which was going to make things much easier in the long run when it came to training. Jack smiled a little and shook her head, wondering what she was going to do about things for now, and if it would be good to actually start mount training him whenever he had a bad leg and all that. There wasn't anything else for her to do at the moment though, she was going to have to break him a little while he was hurt, it was the only way she was going to get this done.

Well, time to keep on going she decided as she stroked Ergo's rather short mane, the one thing aside from his frame he seemed to take from his Equillion parentage. She sighed a little and looked him over, it was a simple saddle, though she had to rig up some straps to go under his wings, which was fine she thought. Looking over at the saddle, she sighed again, ran her hands over her face, and then went to pick it up. Jack approached the halfbreed slowly, holding the saddle up to him so he could sniff at it for a moment or two before she slowly, gently placed it on his back. Immediately he shook it off and snorted at her, a rather Equillion-like sound coming from a bug-like muzzle, but that was fine too. Jack smiled, dusted off the saddle, and set forward to try again. This was always a challenge.

Jack pushed her hair back with her free hand and then tossed the saddle back over the back of the Equiloss as gently as she could, though it still landed with a thump on his back, and he reared back to knock it off of him again. "Hey there..." she said, rubbing his nose to help calm him down a little bit and she gave him some bugs to calm him down a little. Not that he really needed calming down too much, he had that air about him that bothered her a little, but she was sure she would get used to it eventually. Jack picked up the saddle and placed it on his back again, though instantly giving him some bugs before he could knock it off. He still did though, though she could see the wheels in his head turning. He was an intelligent animal, his ability for magic was astonishing, but could he learn the simple things?

Hmm, how to keep this on his back? Jack hefted the saddle with one hand, she was rather strong after all, and then had some bugs in the other hand, holding them out to Ergo as she slipped the saddle onto his back. She was sure this was going to work, but she really didn't know if it was in the end of it. Jack smiled as he chomped on the bugs at the moment and then wondered what was going to happen at the end of it, was he going to be a good mount when it was over? She tilted her head and he did the same before kicking up and knocking the saddle off of his back. At least he had kept it on for a little while this time instead of instantly knocking it off, that was a start she figured with a little smirk on her face.

Ergo sniffed at the woman's hand as she held out more bugs, wondering if it was going to be worth it. There was such a weight on his back, but he supposed it could be worse in the end of it all. He sniffed again and delicately took the bugs from her hand, trying to ignore the weight that appeared on his back out of nowhere again. Jack knew it was going to take awhile for him to get used to this, which was fine by her and all that, but she hoped it would be rather quick all the same. Pushing her hair back, she smiled when he finally seemed to accept the saddle, though she still had quite a ways to go at the same time. Jack chewed on her lip and then sighed when he finally shook the saddle off of his back. At least it was better than rearing back like he had been doing.

Taking the saddle again in her arms, she dusted off the seat of it before placing it on his back again, once more taking some bugs out of her pouch and handing them over to him. Sure it took a second, but he was used to the saddle a little bit again, something she was thrilled about no matter what, but at least he didn't shake off the saddle as she dug for the bugs. Jack smiled a little and patted him on the nose, hoping that she was going to get this done already, but of course that wasn't going to happen right now she figured when he shook it off yet again. Ah well, she had the time to do this training she figured with a little sigh in her voice. It was something she tended to do while training, sigh a lot, but that was natural she figured, no matter what.

There, it was going well enough she figured as she placed the saddle on the halfbreed's back again. This time he shook a little, more like a shake over his skin than anything else, just an irritant, nothing more than that, but one he could live with. Jack smiled and rubbed his neck for a moment before giving him some more bugs, something that the woman knew he was pleased with no matter what. They weren't going to be able to feel each other for quite a long time she knew, but that was alright, they had a feel for each other, and she could tell something of what an animal was thinking by just looking at their behaviors. Jack watched the halfbreed for a moment and then tightened the straps on the saddle slowly as she could, she didn't want to worry him too much just yet. That wasn't something that would work out well at all.

As she tightened the straps on the saddle, Ergo danced around a little bit, showing a little of the nervousness of the Equillion in him. She didn't know what the Golossle in him was doing, probably toning it down a little bit, but she didn't know if that was the case really or not. Jack chewed on her lip, it was sore, but it was something she did when she didn't want someone to know she was nervous. That or concentrating rather hard, but either way it didn't really matter in the long run. Jack finished tightening the straps around his belly and chest and then stood back to check on her work. The hardest part was going to be putting the halter on around his strange mouth, it was a good thing she had modified them all and took out the bits of the halters she had for her animals. It just wouldn't work for this halfbreed, not at all.

Ergo could handle the saddle on his back, but when the woman went to slip the halter over his face, he pulled back and reared up on his bad leg. A wince followed and he limped away from her for a moment, only enticed back by the promise of a handful of bugs the woman poured into her hand and held out to him. Jack smiled at him and stroked his face for a moment, murmuring to him as she slowly slipped it over his head, much to his dismay. An emotion much like fear flickered in his eyes for a moment before they regained their glossed over look and he pulled away again, though she had the reins hard in her hands so he couldn't pull back too much. Jack loosened her grip on the reins a little and then watched as he pulled back for awhile and danced around shaking his head, not knowing what was going to go on for the moment.

At least he was getting used to it and no matter how much he rubbed his head against the ground and the fence, the halter wasn't coming off. She smiled a little at that and then clicked her tongue against her lips, calling him over to her, enticing him with a handful of bugs once more. He reluctantly went over to her and then nibbled at the bugs. It wasn't like he got them all that often, he wanted to savor them at this point, he didn't know when he was going to get some more. Hopefully soon with all this the woman was trying to get him to do, but there was no way of knowing for sure at this point. Jack wiped her hands off on her pants and then rubbed his chitenous neck, wondering what was going to happen for him at the moment, why he couldn't get out of his right now and all that. Well, he might as well accept it if things were going to go this way...

Jack calmed him down a little and took the reins again, sure that things were going to work out for the two of them in the future. Clicking at him calmed him down, maybe it reminded him of his insect heritage, and he came back over toward her, expecting bugs, but getting nothing but a new pats on the neck. He seemed to have accepted the tack, it was the next part that was going to be a pain in the butt for her no matter what. It was going to cause her lots of bruising, and she was going to be battered the next day, but it was worth it during what was going to happen. Jack smiled and rubbed his neck again, cooing at him as his glazed over eyes stared right through her, as though he saw what was inside of her no matter what happened. Could he see inside of her? It was the first time she had dealt with a creature with this kind of power...

Now this was going to be fun she figured with a little smile on her face, it always was at least. Sure it was easiest to do it in water, but she didn't know how well the halfbreed would take to the water, that would come later she figured. The water would break her fall a little easier than the ground would, but she didn't mind a few bumps and bruises, at least, she hadn't before this and all. Still smiling, she took the reins and slipped them over the horn of the saddle before she put her foot in the nearest stirrup, putting a bit of weight on it. Ergo danced away from her and she caught herself against the fence. He could handle a lot of things, but that extra weight? Well, he wasn't so sure about that at the moment. Maybe she should try getting him to carry a load first, then this wouldn't be so hard. No, better do the harder one first, it would just make it easier to get the other one finished later on.

Jack pulled the halfbreed over toward the fence again and then tried once more getting her foot into the stirrup. She managed it, and then put a little weight on the stirrup again, though the halfbreed tried to dance away again when she did so. The woman pulled on the reins, however, and made sure he stayed where he was. While he might fight her a little, he eventually calmed down, the panic in his eyes disappearing and turning into a relative and eerie peace once again, as though he saw through to her very soul. A shiver ran down Jack's back, and she wondered what would happen if she got on his bad side. Not that she thought she would, but that wasn't the point. Shaking her head to dispel the thought, Jack put her weight on the stirrup again, once more keeping hold of the reins to Ergo couldn't go too far from her, not like she wanted to be dragged across the paddock.

Hopping on one leg for a moment, the woman finally swung herself into the saddle and held onto the reins and saddle horn as tightly as she could as Ergo went up on his back feet to try and knock her off. He still had that odd expression on his face, but that didn't matter, he knew she wasn't supposed to be there no matter what happened. Next he bucked his back feet in the air hard enough that she flew over the halfbreed's head and onto the ground in a bit pile of arms and legs. Jack swore and sat up, brushing herself off and watching the Equiloss prance around the arena for a few moments before she called him over to her with a little click of the tongue and held onto the reins again. His eyes were foggy and out of focus, but that was the norm for him it seemed. Oh well, at least she knew he was healthy.

Well at least she knew he would react in a true way no matter what happened, she figured with a smile. At least he had some form of emotions and wasn't simply a blank slate waiting to be filled at some point, if that was possible. Jack patted the halfbreed on the nose again and then smiled before putting some pressure on the stirrup again and then swinging into the saddle as he tried to get used to the new weight. As long as she centered on his back, maybe he would be able to get used to things a little easier. He swung around, kicking his back legs up into the air and wondering what was going to happen if she didn't get dislodged. Would she ever get loose from his back now? Jack hung onto the saddle horn as best as she could, she had broken Drakes and Hens before! There was no way a halfbreed would dislodge her, would he?
