Land - 5
Perhaps it was for the best that she was training him this before she trained him how to fight, but she didn't really know that at the moment. She just smiled and pulled him into the air again and then leaned forward against his neck to signal him to go back down to the ground. Ergo touched down rather elegantly than the rest of the landings so far and she wondered if they were done with this at the moment. Most likely, of course, and she hoped she was going to be able to find out what to do next and all that soon enough. She smiled again and shook her head, maybe she would get her list out finally to see things at the moment and all that, but nothing was going to work out if she didn't figure it out herself. Jack pushed her hair back and then dismounted, going over to her bag and pulling out her list. What next now?

Step Up - 1 It was time to start training something else while she let the halfbreed rest for awhile. His wings were tired and she didn't blame him in the least. Now she was out in the corral, leaning against the fence, staring at the little bird on the fence post. This was a little out of her area of expertise, but she supposed it would be easy enough, she'd trained Orbaru before, she could train a bird, right? Jack stared at Tobi, the little Jibiji she had bought from Renathan, and smiled as his ears swiveled around to hear whatever was going on around him. "Here," she said finally, touching his feet with a forefinger, aiming it sideways and then moving it up against his belly and chest to get him to step up onto her finger. He was certainly tiny enough she figured with a little smile, to step onto her finger, and she hoped this was going to work. Jack: 6/10 Tobi: 1/5

Step Up - 2
Tobi stared at her and nervously scooted back when she touched him. He was still a little loyal to Renathan, nowhere near loyal to her, and he was skittish around her still. That much was to be expected though, she figured with a gentle look at him as she pushed her finger sideways against his feet and belly again. Once more he skittered away, but he didn't have very far to go, the fence post wasn't all that big honestly. Jack just hoped he wouldn't fall off of it and onto the ground, he wasn't very big and things would get broken if he fell, he didn't know how to fly yet of course! She gently stroked his belly feathers with a single finger and then moved against his belly again to see if he would instinctively step onto her finger. It was going to take some time to get things done with him, but he would get it eventually.

Step Up - 3
Finally Tobi put one of his feet on the woman's finger, and he was praised with words and a little seed between her thumb and forefinger of her other hand. "Such a good boy, Tobi!" Jack told him happily as he nibbled on the seed and she patted him lightly on the head, something of which he didn't seem to enjoy. At least not yet, not while they were so new to each other. He chirped irritatedly and backed off of her finger when she did that. Oh well, he'd done a little of what she wanted him to do, and that was enough for now. This was going to be a big day of training and bonding though, she hoped he realized that much. It meant tons of seeds for him if he got things right though, the poor little guy was going to get so chubby off of the fattening seeds she hoped he would be able to burn off the fat pretty quickly with all of this training.

Step Up - 4
Lack of training meant a poorly civilized animal, after all, and as soon as things were going to happen in this training, then she was sure he would be the best trained Jibiji out there. Or at least, second best, considering how Renathan had trained Auburn so far. Jack grinned and shook her head, thinking of her mate and his familiar, she didn't think she could handle a familiar, she just didn't think she could do it, but at least she was going out of her comfort zone and training a tiny creature for once. Giving it her all, she moved her finger against the bird's feet and belly again, this time he countered the lack of balance on the post by stepping onto her finger with both feet, gripping tightly for a moment before hopping off when she moved her hand back toward her again. Jack grinned and gave him another seed, "What a good Tobi!" The exclamation startled him, and she made sure to make a mental note of it, she was used to having to yell to get the attention of her animals, at least her big ones, she needed to speak softly around Tobi.

Jack smiled at him and patted his head again, much to his chagrin, but at least he was learning the trick a little easily. Maybe they caught on much easier than she had anticipated, this was a good thing and a bad thing all rolled into one neat little package. Giving a little chuckle, she moved her finger against the Jibiji's belly again and he stepped onto her finger, expecting a seed and receiving a little one for his success. "There, not so bad, yeah?" Jack said gently as she watched him nibble on the seed. He chirped back, singing to her song, and then his ears started to swivel again. She knew he had good hearing, she just wasn't sure what to make of it just yet. Maybe they were like bat ears and could hear sounds no one else could really hear. Echolocation, right? It was certainly something she was going to have to look in to.

Off - 1
Well he had already figured out when to hop onto her finger and did so with ease after working together for a little while on it. That was good! Jack smiled and then patted the fence post with her other hand and lowered the one the Jibiji was perched on toward it at the same time. He stared at her for a moment but then hopped onto the post to inspect her other hand, seeing if there was a seed in there. Jack chuckled a little and gave him a seed, "Good Tobi." She wanted him to associate the patting of an object with hopping off of her finger, but she didn't know how well that was going to go in the end of it all. Sooner or later he would get it, he was a clever little thing, and as she watched him worry the little seed on the post, she hoped she wouldn't harm him too much in this training.

Tobi was already starting to understand that doing something good meant he would get a little seed, some smaller than the others, but no less delicious. Jack put her finger up to him and he hopped onto it easily, without hesitation, and then she patted the post top again, putting her finger down close to it and rewarding him with another seed when he hopped off to investigate. He was a quick learner, but she doubted he knew what he was supposed to be doing just yet. There was still quite a bit of daylight left, and she knew she was going to have to figure out what else to do with him before she could meet up with Renathan. She wanted to make him into a messenger, and he was going to have to know Renathan in order to get messages across. A smile crossed her face as she thought of him, it had been too long since she had seen him.

Once again Tobi stepped up onto the woman's finger and then turned around on it to see what he could see. She smiled at him a little, wondering what was going on in that little head of his, but realizing it probably revolved around seeds. That's what he was looking for, in fact, and he knew the woman had them, he just didn't know what he was doing to get them from her. She was a tricky one... Jack patted the post again and put her finger down near it, watching as he hopped down to the post to sniff at her hand a little. She then gave him a little seed and then frowned a bit, wondering if she needed to get away from the seeds. It was going to have to happen eventually she figured, but until then this was working rather well for the two of them, quite honestly.

Upset by the lack of seed, Tobi made sure the woman knew about it with an angry chirp and a quick peck of his beak. Jack narrowed her eyes at the little bird and shook her finger at him, popping him on his beak with the tip of her finger as well. "Bad Tobi!" she told him angrily. It hadn't really hurt, but he didn't need to be doing stuff like that anyway. She frowned again and then shook her head before having him hop up on her finger and then patting her shoulder, holding him up to it to see if he had put two and two together yet. Tobi hopped up onto her shoulder and walked around a little bit before deciding there wasn't going to be a seed. Not wanting to undo any future training, she went ahead and gave him a seed once he was content with things, much to his little delight.

The more trained he was, the better equipped he would be in a fight, as tiny as it might be in the future. Messengers fighting each other in the air seemed to be in their future, and she wanted to make sure he would be able to defend himself. Until then though, these little tricks were useful as well, plus it got him used to her, which was very nice. Jack had him get onto her finger again from her shoulder and then patted her other shoulder, moving him over to it and smiled when he hopped onto that shoulder and pecked around a little bit to see what he could find there. He was expecting a seed but he wouldn't be upset if he didn't get one, he figured. The woman was strange like that, sometimes he got a seed and sometimes he didn't, but he didn't think he would ever understand why.

Wear Harness - 1
He needed to learn how to be a messenger, and the first step was to actually wear the little harness she had made for him one night when she was home alone, trying to think of ways to keep busy in the cold weather. Not that it was cold anymore, of course. She chuckled a little and then pulled the harness out of her bag and looked it over. It would loop over both of his wings and then have a little capsule dangle below his feet as he flew to carry the messages in. It wasn't like he could carry a big message, but hopefully this would be big enough to make do. She eyed the Jibiji for a moment and then took one of his wings and quickly looped one of the wing loops over it. Tobi trilled in surprise as he looked at his wing and shook it off as best as he could, he didn't like having a little extra weight on him, especially if it wasn't supposed to be there naturally.

Wear Harness - 2
Oh well, it didn't go as planned but that was alright she figured as she picked up the little harness and tried to put it on his wing again. Once more Tobi shrugged it off, but she had given him a seed before he did so. As he munched on the seed, he tried to figure out what she was trying to do to him, but he couldn't figure it out. Maybe it had something to do with that... thing... or something like that. Jack smiled as she watched the little Jibiji try and work things out, but it wasn't going to happen anytime soon, she knew that much about it at least. Hmm, maybe some more seeds would do the trick, it was a good thing she had brought a variety of them she figured with a smile, once she pinned down which ones he enjoyed the most, then hopefully it would motivate him a bit more.

Wear Harness - 3
Tobi wasn't interested in the harness in the slightest it seemed, but Jack knew it was only going to be a matter of time before he wore it with pride in his eyes. It was going to be something good he could know about no matter what, and she hoped that it would be sooner rather than later when it all came down to it. She really hoped it was going to work out in the end, but she had to make sure this was going to work. Giving him a bit of a smile, she popped the harness onto one of his wings and shoved a seed at his beak at the same time, chuckling when he didn't know which to react to first. Slipping right out of the harness, he made quick work of the seed soon after, giving her a stink eye as he did so. Jack smiled and patted him on his little head, he would get it soon.

Wear Harness - 4
While he didn't know what was going to happen with that thing the woman kept putting on him, he was slowly becoming intrigued by it no matter what all happened with it. He tilted his head as the woman held it up in front of him and let him inspect it a little bit as things happened, and she hoped that he was going to want to wear the thing soon. Slowly she slipped it on his wing again and he turned to look at it for a moment before he shrugged it off once more. Giving a sigh, she still gave him a seed for keeping it on himself for a little bit, but didn't know what else to do right now. He was a little more stubborn than some of her other animals, and that was saying something when it all came down to it. Oh well, they would get it, she was sure of it.
