A pleasant spring breeze drifted through the garden, lightly rattling the barren bushes, while rustling those who had already gone ahead and grown out some of their leaves. It was a strange contradiction how the garden seemed teeming with bounty regardless of the seasons, even ones that should have been most hostile all things living (such as winter, which the sphinx rather could understand the struggle with). The barren bushes all had buds on their branches and stalks, signaling the blooming that's sure to have any day now, but some had already gone so far ahead as to grow entire flowers and fruits.
When the breeze disturbed one such, it was quick enough to loosen from the branch and plop right down into the soft grassy soil, next to the poor sapling, who seemed to least expect it. With a sudden meep-like sound, the sapling went up into the air as if from a springboard and landed a good several feet away from the piece of fruit.

She also ended up being a good deal lighter for it, as two flowers drifted through the air much slower in her wake. They had landed by the time the sphinx turned around, drawn to the sudden commotion, and seeing the sapling caught between being afraid of the strangely bright bunana, and the mammalian's suddenly focused gaze on her. Unable to make a decision one way or another, the sapling opted for option number three, which involved a quick dart directly backwards into one of the fully-leaved bushes.
Presumably she could have continued much further than that, though the sphinx didn't notice any motion or sound leaving the other side of the bush, so it was still safe to assume her little vigil on the mammalian wasn't concluded yet. If anything Darky could count herself fortunate that the sapling looks to be far more comfortable being closer to her now than when they started.

Not quite to the point where the sapling could be seen within full view, but it was progress. Trust wasn't something that could be gained so easily with everyone, after all, as some natures were far more shy than others. As such, the sphinx made sure to take a wider arc around where the sapling had fled, towards the scene of this most terrible of 'crimes'.
Crouching down, she picked up the bunana and inspected it, as it was quite a curious one. She'd encountered them in the garden before plenty of times, though none that looked quite so colourful as this one. Tucking it into the jacket pocket, she figured to leave it in the pantry on her way out, see if Hyacinthe might be interested in them. Before all that, though, there was also the curious case of a trail of flowers that the sapling had rather inadvertently left in her flight.

Now, where most creatures follow a particular pattern in terms of their colourations and what they pass on, the sapling looks to be a rather curious case of the opposite. One of the flowers is a bright orange, while the other one's white, neither of which looked to evident on the sapling's person when she was still trying to hide. To be sure, there's quite a number of buds along her back, each of which could sprout to any number of colours, though the incident is curious enough all the same.
Darky isn't too sure what to make of these flowers, or where their purpose might lie, but it's not every day a creature walks around essentially making up their own flower trail, so surely there's a cause and reason somewhere. For now, she picks up both by the stems and stands, both hands occupied with an entirely different sort of blooms - one for a hara, the other with two saplings.

The odd sort of sight of the two flower types side-by-side does make her wonder just far or closely connected some of the garden creatures are, especially those who seem more based around flowers than others. Are saplings the same sort of 'spriteling' as the 'sprites' are for haras? They don't appear to be quite as intelligent as haras, though that raises a whole other question when one factors in lotines with their blooms and fruit-to-lolas process as well.
Curious eyes peered from beneath the bush as the mammalian pondered those thoughts, starting her way back to where the work had been left off near the pond. Had Matsu the mind to, perhaps she could have shed some light on those mysteries, though for now the sphinx will have to settled with whatever little pieces of knowledge she can dig up in libraries and local farmer's manuals. Reaching the edge of the pond, she very carefully placed all three flowers into the bucket, only then realizing she should have perhaps also brought a basket.

Well.. hindsight's not much use here, although there should be one or two somewhere in the tool shed, now that she thought about it, back when she visited the garden on a (slightly) more regular basis. Tapping the chin in though, she turned on her heel and made a light jog towards it, in order to check. Up until now the mammalian's motions had been rather calm and measured, short bouts of minor surprised no withstanding, so the sudden shift into a hurried pace caused Matsu to grow alert.
Was something happening? Were there predators around? The sapling generally hadn't had that much reason to fear the latter, considering the general state of the garden could be described as pretty sedate at best. Whether it was the general lack of predators for saplings in general, or the fact there was a fully grown tat-lung looking over the premises was anyone's guess.

The main takeaway from those was the fact that Matsu had rarely, if ever, seen reason to run for her life in any shape or form, which isn't something that can be said for a lot of wild counterparts in their relevant equations. But, instincts are there for a reason, even ones that don't really get flexed a lot, and when the mammalian took off, the spriteling suddenly felt like a sense of safety did as well. Not because the mammalian could have been signalling danger, but because danger could be more probably without her around.
If anyone would have asked the sapling to explain, Matsu really couldn't have put it into words, intelligence or no. It just was what it was, and so she stood and began to quickly scurry after the mammalian, keeping to the bushes and tall grass by means of cover from a threat she could neither name nor see nor understand.

The shed door opened with only a slight creak, proving that the structure was one of the few things in the garden that actually remained well maintained. It wasn't difficult to be, considering it was built only a few years ago and it didn't go through vast seasonal differences several times a year. In the same vein, the sphinx couldn't help but wonder if perhaps there was a droid that could be assigned here to help with the rest (Who wasn't Sha'Nepti, for her touch wasn't always very.. delicate). Alternatively, if there was a way to pass what knowledge she had (in combination of the knowledge from the agate and a few others) onto Hyacinthe, so she could better manage things in her stead.
Things inside the shed were much as she remembered leaving them, considering Hyacinthe didn't really need use tools all too much. It made things easier to find, but also a little all too evident on their lack of purpose.

At least it made finding the baskets easy enough, though the sphinx did note that they weren't quite as she remembered them. The stack was a little off kilter and some of them looked to have some dirt around the edges, suggesting that perhaps the silver one had been up and about using them at some point. As much was proven true when the mammalian picked up the most top one and found a single bean pod still within it. It looked dark enough to seem almost rotten, but a closer inspection proved it was still very much fresh (and presumably fresh enough to eat as well).
Dropping it back into the basket, she turned and exited the shed to begin jogging back, much to the further confusion of the sapling. First, we were running from something at the pond? And now we're running from something at the shed? What was going on?

It wasn't long before the mammalian was back at the pond, much to the confused company of the sapling. Once there, she placed the basket down next to the bucket and carefully began to lift out the various plants, fruits and flowers she'd been collecting since arriving, and placing them into the basket instead. As for the eggs and fish fossils, those remained where they were, lest their weights end up accidentally crinkling a flower or breaking a stem.
Now, the sapling had been observing this behaviour for a while now, though only then did something seem to click in her mind.. The object of those two hollow things was to put things in them.. yes? It was a sentiment she could appreciate, considering stashing food and stores for winter was a well-practised habit of many seasonal creatures. So, with that in mind, was the mammalian also stashing things for the two-leggers' summer?

All this running about has made your sapling spriteling tense. From somewhere in your garden, a loud snapping noise occurs- likely just a dead branch falling from a tree, but it's enough. Your pet startles and dashes away into the garden. Better go catch it!

That train of thought wasn't able to get too far away from the mental station before something snapped nearby. Noises in the garden were commonplace, to a lesser or greater extent, since even in seeming absence of a presence or other forms of activity there was none the less a plethora of lola to keep the background lively. By and large the sphinx had come to tune them out of her peripheral vision and hearing, much like a cat owner doesn't mind noises and bumps in the night half as much as one without. But even so, the snap was loud enough to even alert her, as she stood straight and stared off into the distance.
Darky didn't see the source, and wouldn't find or figure it out either, because a wholly different sort of noise caught her attention next.. that of a sapling rapidly running towards a nearby tree, desperate looking to scamper it.
