It wasn’t very often that a new shop sprouted up in town. There were already rumours circulating around town about the shop that could find rare creatures, for a fee of course. She had a list with her. There were certainly pets that she’d always wanted. If this shop was the real deal, well she was about to be a very happy camper.
The shop is less intimidating than she expected. She had thought it would have been some sort of underground operation, but the shop itself looked almost like a regular lodge. Leafy stepped instead, feeling more comfortable than she had moments before.
“Hello, I have some creatures I want you to find,” she announced to the shopkeeper. “I’ve heard that’s something you can help me with.”
She’d been forewarned that the price would be expensive and the no haggling sign was testament to that. She had credits to spare, but they wouldn't last forever.
The fae smiles; her first customer; ey? She had her group of huntsmen (of course, not all of them were men) go out and tell the general populace all hush-hush like about the place, but she still wasn't expecting a customer so soon. She affixed the customer with her teal-eyed gaze, and leaned on her elbows on the heavy wood of the counter. "Yeah, bring 'em on over here." She said, perhaps a bit brusquely. It was just the kind of way she was; eager and blunt. "Mind Shishi, he don't like people getting too close." The kirin galabex was huge, far larger than any galabex that anyone had probably ever seen (an elixir of giant growth, perhaps?) his eyes slit a bit as he looks at the customer, but he stays laid down on the floor in front of the path that could have lead back behind the counter. He was guarding it, right? It would be best to walk right up to the place on the counter with the place mat.
It was practically common knowledge at this point that you needed a photo for the hunters to find the creatures you wanted. She had gotten lucky. A resurgence of pictures of rare species had recently been released to the public. There were gaps in what she had brought, but Leafy thought it would be enough for them to work with. Shishi’s presence is enough to give her pause, but she relaxed when she realized he wasn’t about to move without prompting.
“I have some photos here. There are five creatures I’m looking for in total. First on the agenda is a Sparrow Chiryma. I’ve got pictures of the juvenile, adult, and old stages. Considering Chiryma v1 are practically extinct now, it’s a lot more than I could ever hope for.” Leafy paused for a moment and handed over the pictures. “I’m also looking for three species of Vulticus to round out my collection. First is the Frostnip Vulticus. I’ve managed to get pictures of the juvenile, adult, and old stages of the species. The next two species I’m looking for are the Bloodpaw and the Silverfang. Strangely enough, I could only get pictures of the juvenile and old stages of those species.” She frowned at that. “Finally, I’m also looking for a Hellcat Estharne. Again, I’ve only got pictures of the juvenile and old stages.”
It was a fairly long list, but Leafy had been waiting half of her life to have a chance at owning these creatures. It was an impulsive need that consumed her. She felt like she wouldn’t be complete if she didn’t have her wishes fulfilled here. These pets were not readily available anymore. When they had been, Leafy hadn’t had the necessary money to purchase them.
“I know it’s a lot, but it’s important to me. How much will it cost me to get you to track these creatures down?”
Odoshi leaned out across the counter and looked at each of the pictures that were brought to her. She cupped her chin as she did so, gently smoothing her palm over it as she thought. "Yes, yes, I am sure we could find these. It will take some time." She was being truthful, it did indeed take time to do these things; her bounty hunters would have to go find one of each of these, after all.
She then leaned back, grabbed a nearby clip-board, and scribbled something down; the names of the creature's breeds that would be required. "I will need to borrow the photos, to put in the case file." She pulled out a file folder. "And your name." She would write the name of the individual on the file folder, and slip the page in there, along with the photos.
"Your total is 2,000 credits, for these five." She said, starkly. It would be enough to allow her team and herself to put their lives in danger to find the more dangerous creatures that they went after. Odoshi was somewhat thankful that they had not yet been sent after something like a pliathor. The worst here was the hellcat; those were horrific to wrangle, and finding a kit would be tough to begin with.
“My name is Leafy!” she gave a toothy grin as she introduced herself. To others, it might seem like a strange name, but she never really thought of it that way.
Two thousand credits would set her back a bit. It was a fair price though, Leafy certainly had to admit that. Tracking down these creatures would not be easy. If it was, she would have done it herself the first chance she got. She grabbed one of her credit pouches and poured out the contents onto the counter. She already knew the pouch contained two thousand credits, but she counted it out anyways just to be certain. Once she was done counting, she pushed the credits over.
“Thanks a lot! You’re helping me out a great deal here.”
It was certainly true. Wrangling up creatures was hard enough when she bought them from the store. She couldn’t imagine even the first step in finding out where some of these creatures had hidden themselves away over the years.
Odoshi quickly scrawled the name on the envelope, pulled the paper off of the clipboard and slid it into the envelope, and then put all of the photos in there as well. Then, she closed it up and put it in a nearby shelf that was labeled under a certain hunter's last name. As soon as the customer put the clinging coins on the table; Shishi turned his head and swiveled his ears towards the counter; making sure that nothing untoward was going down. He seemed to be calmer, after a moment, instead watching more curiously than carefully. Odoshi counted out the coins too, and satisfied, she brushed them off of the counter and down into the register's sorting tray so that they could slide down into the lockbox. "It will most likely take us at least two weeks, but not much longer than that." She added. "Thank you for your business." Ah, that was the nicest thing she'd said all day, right? A formality of common, it seemed. Shishi watches the customer carefully, while Odoshi simply pulls out another piece of paperwork and gets to work.
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?

Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)

Riku: I got three pet levels and 15c out of it. <3 And all the necessary posts for my job salary form.

Riku: In mine my crossbreed used foxfire to burn it - but then it used incendiary illusion, which was extra scary because my cross is a plant pet with thick fur. It used the distraction to escape. I’m proud of it, and it’s okay that I won’t finish this month.

Renathan: *But of course, the RNG was not having that. / In Morgan's story, the Nyssa was a real thing, so I wanted to have two different situations for the variety.
May 31, 2020 18:15:27 GMT -6
Renathan: Yeah, the 'finished the story but the RNGods are being a butt' thing is a rather unfortunate situation to be in. I had already decided that in Ren's story, the elderly woman had lied about the nyssa and just wanted someone to talk to*

Riku: That makes sense. I've considered that before. -nod- I hope your non-hxr life is going smoothly.

Haix: Just quitting the job. Don't believe I'll be making the ten posts required per month any time soon. XD
May 31, 2020 16:34:01 GMT -6
Riku: Note to haix, I believe you can post the new application form at the same time as the quitting form. Unless you are simply taking an overall break from the job system.

Fiera Ferella: even AT the gardens yet. XD It sucks when you've finished writing your story and haven't gotten a success, because then its like "well... now what?" XD
May 31, 2020 15:51:47 GMT -6
Fiera Ferella: ive found that when there's a quest that might take longer like this, its a good idea to try and space out the story beats to try and roll a success before i get to the meat of the story. XD Like, by the time i was 5 posts in my character wasn't
