The human knew that the difficult part was already over, and that they could get into the next step. The next step would be working with Waar on his running again, which should be easier now that he was quite good at running multiple times in a row, unlike how he had been before. However, the ultimate goal for Morgan was to get him to fly this go around. What better way to get the muscles back up in working order than working on the one thing that the species is really good at? Waar was quite literally born to fly, it was the biggest aspect of being a drake. Now that Morgan had taught him how to do that, it shouldn't be too difficult to work up to that point.
Waar reluctantly rolled over and then stood back up, stretching out his arms and legs and wings. He definitely felt more limber, but was all of that discomfort worth it?

Waar shook himself out, and whipped his tail back and forth. Yes, he was much more limber now. He turned to Morgan expectantly. "Show... Road..." He managed to get out, through the collar of speech. He was slowly learning how to use it, sometimes better than others. He tried to emulate Morgan the best he could, learning. Morgan chuckled. "Alright Waar, let's g-get the show on the road." The blond human said to him, giving him a pat on the side with one of the acid-resistant gloves. Thank goodness for those acid resistant gloves, too! Finally, Morgan continued to lead Waar up to the top of a nearby hillock. It was amazing how wide spaced this place was, perfect for working with a large creature like Waar. The drake tilted his head from one side to the other as he walked, not quite noticing it. Morgan couldn't help but shudder, it was one of those uncanny 'dead' things that Waar did since his change.

Sometimes, the human couldn't help but feel perhaps like Waar did this stuff on purpose just to freak them out. They had come to terms with what he was now a long time ago, but that didn't necessarily mean that the things he did sometimes didn't creep them out too horridly. Morgan lead the sarane up onto the hillock, and then they breathed in. The air always felt so nice whenever a breeze blew by on a hillock, the human couldn't help but watch the grass roll beneath it for a moment as the sarane ambled up the rest of the way up the hillock. The human gave him another pat. "Running f-first boyo, then flying." They said, after they noticed him starting to warm his wings up. He shot Morgan a rather rancid look before snorting at them, but he did listen. Morgan gave him an understanding look before raising the whistle to their lips.

Morgan had long since worked with Waar on his dashing to the point to where he could do it quite a few times in a row. It made for the work they were going to do today to be much easier than it perhaps otherwise would have been. Morgan remembered that the gym training was much more easily completed whenever they had worked on this, in the past. The human was hoping that the training would be completed much more quickly this time, since it had been so drawn out and awful last time. However, Waar always seemed to alternate between doing things with odd finesse, and being absolutely horrid about being stubborn. The human was not sure what to expect this time, other than they leaned towards expecting the stubborn attitude since the drake had been causing trouble already today. Without further ado, save for Waar flapping his wings a bit more and producing a little breeze, Morgan called out the command on the whistle.

The whistled command was generally an easy enough one, and of course Waar knew it well. He'd began to learn incredibly quickly, though there were still so many things for him to learn that they would have to keep working out over time. This time, though, Waar knew the command well enough to take off running down the hillock as soon as it was given. The human was actually relieved- they had actually expected the strangely colored drake offspring to react with some amount of stubbornness, but luckily for Morgan he had heeded the command. The human noticed that he was a little bit stumb-ly, running down the hillock, but he was already starting out at a better baseline than he had nearly a year ago. Thank goodness, Morgan couldn't help but think, at the very least they had made some progress in the past that had stuck, even if he had also backslid a little bit.

Waar did pretty well on the way down, considering it had been so long since the last time they had worked on this, but he did even better on the flat land between. He knew better than to stop dashing, of course, but as soon as he began to slow down Morgan was sure to give him the command for dash again. He was just going to have to keep working on it, regardless of how difficult it was on him. That was the only way that he was going to get better. Maybe he would even eventually be as limber and reflexive as he was before the change? That was the best thing that Morgan could imagine as an outcome, though it was a longshot at best at this point. He'd never be as speedy as a very-well trained gold sarane, but Morgan was sure that he'd be speedy enough to be well. More well than he had been since the change.

That, by itself even, had a relieving effect on Morgan. This was good, they were actually making progress, even if it rarely ever felt like it. That made them feel quite a bit better; though they were still quite uneasy about the entire situation. They still felt like Waar might have been more confident and happy with his life if not for the incident that Morgan was at fault for, they were sure. However, this was the best that they could have done with the knowledge that they had at the time, so Morgan was absolutely sure that they needed to continue with this training, even if it was difficult and took a long time. They planned to hopefully intersperse it with training, anyway, so that by the time they were done his training would be done too. There sure was a lot of it to go through. The human couldn't help but let their mind wander as they continued to get Waar to run.

Waar -hated- running. He did it, sure, when he had to, but it wasn't something he strove to do. He liked flying more, perhaps that was a holdover of his baser instincts, those that he was feeling less and less attached to as time went on. What would it have been to be a regular drake? A normal sarane male, a fighter that wanted nothing more than a harem of hens under his wing. It wasn't that he wasn't interested in hens, or drakes for that matter, or even fighting, but it seemed too trivial to really chase it as an option. Still, as he continued to run across the warm grass and instinctively breathed in the cool air across his... Well, he wasn't sure if he still had actual lungs or not and he tried not to overthink it- he felt like maybe, just maybe, he would go forward in his life to try to get back down to his roots.

Had Morgan understood what Waar was thinking while he was starting on his exercise, they probably would have been upset. However, they could only feel the soothing balm of his sudden burst of happiness and enduring calm through the emotional link that Morgan hadn't quite noticed that they had cemented with him until that moment. It was sort of exhilarating in a way that left the blond human confused. However, they weren't even really halfway through all the work they needed to do today, and Morgan needed to continue using the whistled command to keep him running. As soon as Waar would begin to slow down, Morgan knew that they would need to do this a few more times before moving on to flight, and maybe after flight, what would they do? That was the issue with Morgan, they always wanted to plan ahead and rarely did those plans work out as planned. It was a shame, really.

As Morgan planned (not plotted, planned!) and Waar considered his future, the world around them continued to be a sunny springtime wonderland. The human certainly liked the spring more than winter, and more than summer, but they couldn't help but admit to theirself that it would be an even better day if this was autumn, instead. Perhaps they would have time to work with Waar in the fall, whenever the fall came? They couldn't adequately plan for that long. Morgan had to worry about other things now, such as the fact that they were having a little bit of a hard time procuring the sample they needed to collect in order to replace the mitochondrial RNA for their newest attempt at a creation with some that weren't so badly degraded. At least it was the RNA, and not the DNA of the creature that they were trying to worry about at this point... Waar was beginning to slow down now, so Morgan called for him to come back.

The sarane slowed up when he came back. He was instinctively breathing quite hard, despite not really needing it. He didn't notice it, but the grass that his feet touched was dying along some of that way, until he 'caught his breath'. He was quite hungry, now that he thought of it. Maybe he could get Morgan to give him his extra rations earlier than originally planned, today? That would be nice. He stayed hungry to some degree, now. He found it difficult, once again, to go up the hillock after running. He was easily fatigued, even with his additional training. It was very sad, Morgan thought, as they watched him practically half fall a few times on the way up the hillock. They tried not to pity him, they really did because it made him so mad whenever he noticed it, but they really couldn't help it as the drake crested the hillock on his four paws and rolled over onto his back.

Morgan tutted, a little bit. They watched as the drake rolled over onto his back and wriggled back and forth, scratching an itch on his back, probably between his wings judging by the trajectory of the rolls to do the scratching. Ah well, Morgan thought, if he wanted to take a quick break, Morgan was not at all going to stop him. "W-well, you've slipped, since last time." Morgan said. "B-but you're doing better than when w-we first started." Morgan said, trying to break the monotony of just watching the black drake wriggle around in the grass. The human sat down for a moment, a little ways away, feeling the warmth of the sun in the grassy knoll. It was nice. They didn't really blame Waar for liking it, even though he should be working. "A-alright, let's get you back up and goin'." The human said. The drake just rolled over and threatened a tail whap at them.

The human dodged, easily. Unlike the drake, they had speed on their side. Still, it could have grazed them, or spattered them with acid, or anything like that. "Hey- Waar! Don't forget you have a venomous s-s-spade on that thing! Don't be jokin' around like that." They complained, catching their breath. Morgan would probably never recolor from any kind of acid or poison, let alone the fairly lethal venom that the drake had. Waar simply huffed, which Morgan had began to realize was the way that he 'laughed', and then wriggled around on the grass some more. Well, at least he was having fun. Morgan may not be, but Waar sure was. The human wasn't super fond of the allergies that the spring often gave them. They could already see those dang cottonballs floating through the air that always gave them the nose-tickles and runny eyes for weeks. They rolled their eyes at him, and then gave him a gentle, playful swat with one of the gloves. "Ya big mess."

Waar was having a lot of fun. He didn't get to have this much fun often, because of his nature as both an undead being AND as a drake, so Morgan didn't mind giving him a bit of time to catch his breath and enjoy the sunshine. They guessed that they would give him a little more time. Sure, they wanted to be done for the day, but the poor drake probably needed a little time outside. He did have his giant pen made of chainlink at home, and it truly was huge enough to let him fly around, but it wasn't enough to see the same old places at the farm. Morgan had began to trust him a little more to travel over the estate during the day, and so far he hadn't done anything to betray that trust. However, the human wasn't stupid. Waar was very clever, and at any moment, might decide to utilize that freedom for his own gain.

The human didn't want to have any nasty surprises upon finding out whatever the drake had in mind, so out of necessity, he was kept out of the hair of the other beings that lived on the estate. It was a sad situation. Perhaps Morgan could manage to remedy that, eventually. For now, Waar rolled around in the sunshine. "W-wait!" Morgan called out, reaching out an acid gloved hand. The drake had been rolling around a little too much, and managed to roll off of the hillock and down into the valley below at a rate of speed that would have scared Morgan had it been theirself instead. The human took off running down the hillock theirself, after him, to make sure that he was okay. The drake caught himself before Morgan caught up with him, and he huffed again (drake laugh, it would seem, or at least a Waar laugh).
